Episode 38: Peers (Elliot)

"Speaking of Alex. Do you have any friends other than Olivia?" I asked, remembering Alex's conversation with his brother last night.

Jason averted his gaze. "I'm not sure if I would call them friends. They were more like peers. I was less close to them than I am with you."

"Is that why you consider me your friend?" I asked.

He laughed. "Maybe. I'm not really sure what a friend is."

I leered at him. What a very Alex-like answer.

He blinked. "Did I say something wrong?"

I rubbed my chin. "Not exactly, but I'm not fond of your answer. You should try to make some more real friends! Like I've always said, the more, the merrier!"

Jason sighed. "I know, but I'm not good at interacting with others for extended periods of time."

Was that why he couldn't turn his peers into true friends?

"Then I should train you on that!" I said, nodding.

"You have a lot of friends?"

"Not sure if I would say a lot, but I do have a good amount. I like to make friends wherever I go."

"Now I'm the one feeling envious."

I patted his back, nearly knocking him to the floor. "Come on! Don't be jealous of little old me!"

He looked over his shoulder and smiled. "Big head."

"What? My head isn't big! It's average!"

Jason chuckled. "It means that you're full of yourself. Olivia used to use that word on me a lot when we were kids."

I ears twitched at the last words. "Say, how was Olivia when she was little?"
