Memories are painful

"The what now?"
"The amusement park," I chimed and pointed at his sweater and dress pants. "Change into something more loose fitting. We'll be playing a lot."
Envy looked more confused than he ever was, staring blankly at me with his mouth hung open.
"Go on! Shoo!" I flicked my wrist at him and he reluctantly walked back into his hotel room, mumbling incoherently.
Since I had plenty of time, I could enjoy myself for a while. Just a little while. If I could find anyone anytime before the agreement ended, it was fine.
I just didn't want to find that person this soon.
Soon, Envy walked out in red sportswear, clearly overdoing it, but I just decided to roll with it.
Leaving the hotel, we headed towards the bus stop and got on one that came faster than I expected. It wasn't crowded since it was a working day. We sat on a two person seat at the back and I took out my new phone to search for amusement park attractions.
A grin grew on my face at the images. "So we're riding the roller coaster, gyro drop, gyro swing, pirate's ship, log flume-"
"Hold on," Envy interrupted, raising a hand at me. "First of all, what the actual what? Second, we're there to actually ride on the attractions? What happened to the agreement?"
"We'll get there when we get there," I dismissed him, scrolling through the park attractions on my phone, my mind filled with all the games I could play. "Just follow my map and we're all good."
His eyes fell on the images of the attractions and he scanned them for a while before turning to the window. For the whole ride, he stayed silent, watching the scenery outside while I mentally created a list of attractions and watched videos of them to decide whether or not they were safe to try.
When we arrived at the front gate of the amusement park, a powerful wave of exhilaration hit me and I was barely standing on my two feet without bouncing everywhere. Families, friends, couples and children were crowding the whole place, taking pictures, eating snacks and talking while laughing with each other. The sky was of beautiful azure color and the weather was just perfect for walking around the park.
"First, we're riding the pirate ship," I chirped, pointing at the giant swing attraction, and grabbed Envy's wrist to drag him to the waiting line.
"Wait! What do you mean 'we'?" He protested as we reached it. "Why am I riding it? I didn't agree to riding these."
"You're supposed to be following my map and my map starts with this today," I said, speaking nonsense. "We could find someone, you know?"
"No, I don't know," he sneered but got on the ship with me in the end.
He had his arms crossed during the whole ride as the ship swung from one side to the other, going higher and higher. I, on the other hand, let out screams of excitement when we were elevated higher and higher, adrenaline rushing through my veins as the cityscapes could be seen from up.
I felt alive.
"I understand why daredevils do extreme things when I'm at the park like this," I confessed with a huge smile as we reached our next destination and watched the people dropping from high up in the sky while screaming so loudly.
"Some of them are just insane, not gonna lie," Envy replied, gawking at the tower.
"You scared?"
He snorted, brushing back his hair. "Park attractions don't scare me. I actually enjoy these, you know?"
My lips curled up in a soft smile. "I know... How can I not know..."
Our turn soon came and we got on the seats with the straps fastened and secured. A wave of panic washed over me when we were lifted off the ground since I had never ridden the gyro drop before. My hands clutched the security strap on myself and I shot my eyes up to the sky before taking deep breaths.
"Are you okay?" Envy suddenly asked and I nodded without averting my eyes. "We can teleport if you're not comfortable, you know?"
I nodded again, not trusting my voice.
"Seriously, Seoyun." His hand grabbed a hold of mine and I finally looked at him in surprise. "Are you sure?"
Somehow, my heart picked up its pace even more and I was captured in the depth of his dark orbs. His hand on mine somehow gave me a sense of security more than the straps fastened around my body.
Bracing myself, I held his hand tighter when we came to an abrupt stop at the top and only the color blue surrounded us.
"...I'm sure."
As soon as the words left my mouth, his expression visibly softened and we immediately dropped faster than I expected. I unconsciously shut my eyes and gripped his hand tighter than ever. My screams were something out of terror while his screams were of thrill.
After we reached the ground, I stayed immobile for a while to regain myself and groaned when getting off the ride. A strong wave of nausea welled up to my throat and I clutched my stomach, frowning.
"You okay?" Envy chuckled, looking completely unaffected, irking me.
I shook my head, staggering away from the drop tower.
"I told you we could bail," the man laughed, seemingly amused by my suffering. "You need to sit down for a while. Come on."
I followed him to a bench near the fountain and plopped down beside him, still groaning from the stomach churning feeling. Envy rubbed my back a few times while still chuckling at my misery.
"I'm not letting this ruin my day," I huffed, rubbing my stomach. "We're riding the gyro swing after I'm recovered."
"Are you for real?" His brows crashed together under his long, green bangs.
"That was just new so I'm like this. The other rides are just child's play for me so it's nothing," I assured, recalling the list I made. "We still have at least a dozen attractions left and I really really want to ride them."
"Gosh," he sighed but couldn't suppress his laughter. "This feels like playing hooky."

"Let's ride the log flume next!" Envy enthusiastically cheered and pulled me by my wrist towards the queue. His eyes were forming gleeful crescents and his cheeks were pushed up from the childish smile he wore.
Joy was bursting out of him in waves.
I thought I would be the one enjoying these park attractions but I was wrong. I was still enjoying the whole fun adventures, but he... It seemed as if he had forgotten everything related to our agreement and was focusing solely on the fun and enjoyment of things.
I was able to catch a glimpse of the Taehyung I knew.
The blissful screams and elated grins he showed slowly brought forth my own happiness. Perhaps it was the adrenaline rush or perhaps it was the buzzing excitement of the people around us. Nevertheless, a palpable sense of delight had me smiling like a fool the whole time.
A fool who felt nothing but happy feelings.
The sky turned duller shade of blue and darkness was slowly covering the amusement park attractions and buildings. Lamp lights were on and the attractions were lit up in myriads of colors as if we were walking around somewhere straight out of fairytale.
"It's getting dark," I muttered while slurping my mango slush. "Let's head back."
Envy's lower lip protruded and his expression dimmed instantly. "Wait, one last game before we go."
He then eagerly searched around the area and took my hand before walking towards a tall carousel with dozens of swings attached to it.
"Swing ride?"
He nodded and slurped his strawberry slush, finishing it in seconds while mine was only halfway down when we got on the swings. He sat on my right and I was at the outer circle.
I gripped my slush when we started rotating and a smile grew on my face when we were lifted higher. The cool evening breeze was dancing along my skin and blowing my hair, as if it was providing me with a comforting delight it knew I needed, and when I spread my arms and looked up at the sky, it felt like I was flying. I felt euphoric.
The last time I relished in the serenity of my soul like this was long forgotten...
But that feeling soon got interrupted when my slush slipped out of my hand and fell somewhere, making me let out a loud yelp and scream at the ground, "Noo! My slushie!"
Envy whipped his head at me and followed my eyes to the ground before breaking into a fit of laughter. "Let it go. It's already spilled."
When I looked up at his beaming face, I was reminded of the past... the time when the same feeling took over me.
"Ah, Taehyung! My smoothie!" I searched the ground below me in panic. "My smoothie fell down!"
"Don't look down, Seoyun," Taehyung yelled through his cackles to be heard through the strong wind. "I'll buy you a new one, just don't look down."
"Ah," I groaned out loud before looking up and gripping the chains, pouting. "My mango smoothie..."
Taehyung chortled louder and when I turned to glare at him, he pursed his lips, but his eyes had disappeared into thin lines, giving it away. The mischievous little jerk was certainly happy that he had slapped my smoothie, making it fall to the ground.
"Wait till we get off this, you little shit," I threatened him.
He only stuck out his tongue at me, still grinning.
Unknowingly, I was smiling when I came to, and the sky was blurred when I looked up. Rubbing my eyes, I went back to mourning my slush.
I told myself that it was the last time I recalled the past.
Memories were painful.
