The Things That We Do...
There was so much pain. It was every where and all at once. It stemmed from her lower half but she felt it budding over her arms and back even her head had a dull throbbing in it. Rey groaned. She stirred mentally but found she physically had no strength to move. Everything felt extremely heavy. Her muscles were stiff and burning. Her throat was dry and sore. Rey lifted her head slightly and found herself crying out from the simple movement.
Suddenly there was a weight that pushed against her, it kept her forcefully in place and she wasn't sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing so she did what came naturally to her; she fought against it.
"Shhh, don't move, I'm not gonna hurt you." A familiar voice filled her head and all she had the urge to do... was comply.
Rey stilled, quieted her mind so she could focus on why that voice was so important. She could feel it then, the warm energy that was suddenly filling her. It was like a drug pumping into her burning veins to help dampen the pain that surged through the rest of her body.
As if to reward her blind obedience large protective arms wrapped around Rey's smaller frame. There was an undefinable comfort that came with the weight of those arms resting over the soreness of her stiff body. Her mind worked hard to process what was happening around her because unlike the quiet shadows that eased her strained senses; the world on the outside of her head was loud and painfully bright. Her ears took in the sounds that filled them while her eyes fluttered under their lids, threatening to open at any moment as they sought to provide images to go with those sounds all while her hands were flattening, their fingers tips searching the surface beneath them for clues as to where she was.
"Hold still, you'll do more damage if you move." The arms holding her wrapped around her more snugly, pulling her tighter against the body they undoubtedly belonged to.
Still her brain fought to work through the limitations her body was struggling against.
Where am I? What's going on? I- I think I have to wake up...
"Shhh, it's ok. Don't do that." The voice warned while the arms around her pressed down on her more firmly. "There's no need to fight, just hold still. This will be quick, I promise." The deep voice crooned in her head like a soft melody.
He put effort into the sounds as he worked to ease her discomfort with his mind and almost instantly Rey was calming against him. She hadn't even noticed how she leaned on him until then. In the confines of her mind she was upright, her bottom flat on the ground beneath her and her back slightly arched out so she could rest against his broad chest. She laid helplessly against him, her body too fatigued to hold up her own weight which she didn't understand.
The last thing she remembered they were standing along the cliffside... then the Millennium Falcon showed up. They were getting on the Falcon weren't they? ...Didn't they board the ship? Her mind started racing as she remembered the few minuets she could before she blacked out. There was him, Kylo Ren, and he was threatening. There was Luke and her lightsaber in his hand... over Luke... She felt her heart rate pick up but then she remembered he'd calmed. She was able to calm him... he was following her... coming with her...? Then the ships... the First Order... the fire fight... the cave... nothing...
"I promise you're going to be ok... but you have to hold still and you can't fight me." He gently warned.
The words from the chest she laid against hummed through her back, tingling along her spine where their bodies were pressed together. She felt the vibrations run through the length of her frame before settling at the tips of her fingers and toes. If it wasn't for the pain in her lower half she'd have enjoyed the feeling but the more her brain picked up on those little things, the more it felt the pain shooting through it as well. In fact the only reprieve she found was when everything else shut down to enjoy the sensations she was feeling whenever he spoke. She winced in discomfort as the silence left her painfully aware of her physical condition.
"Where am I?" She couldn't help the thought, it was the first sensible thing to ask she supposed.
"Your safe." The voice attempted to reassure her. "You're not with me... but you are safe." The voice increased in pitch with the slightest hint of agitation and something else, and yet the sound was still deeper then anything she'd ever heard before.
Her fingers twitched and her eyes nearly opened against the pain burning through her right leg. She was waking up, coming back to her senses.
"Scavenger, don't fight me... I'm not going to hurt you. Trust me, you don't want to be conscious right now." A light clicked on then and the fog clouding her brain was pushed aside as though swept away on a passing breeze.
He'd given himself away when he called her by that title. He was very serious when he spoke to her now, yet still there was a soft something in the deep voice that Rey thought may have been concern, worry, maybe even compassion but that couldn't be right... not coming from him and certainly not for her. That voice commanded armies, made grown men cry, brought emperors and kings to their knees... made woman swoon. Well, maybe the last part was just her...
"Ren..." She used his chosen title as an act of indifference but the way that one word came out had already given her away.
Her own voice was soft and far more drunken then she intended to sound. She was obviously not alarmed that it was his voice, she had known it was his in the first place, it just hadn't registered right away. Strangely enough she seemed content with him in her head but maybe that was because she now knew what the warm energy moving through her was. It was undoubtedly his Force and she found she was more then content with that knowledge.
"Little Scavenger, are you admitting that I can make you swoon?" He asked a little too proudly and far to interested in her answer but of course she remained silent.
His voice was as deep and dangerous as she was used to when he toyed with her and just as full of mischief and promises that didn't need to be spoken aloud, but there was something that caught her off guard; the nervousness hidden in his humor. If she hadn't known that voice so well she may have overlooked the unease masked behind the seductive baritone with which he was using to distract her.
She suddenly imagined him like the first time they'd come face to face. She pictured the softness in his deep brown eyes, the uncertainty and weight that they held. In her head she could see one side of his mouth being pulled at the corner by his teeth and his lower lip quivering with his nerves. Kylo Ren was not often caught so blatantly insecure and her nerves returned what she knew he was trying to hide. Something was worrying the war lord and he was trying to keep it from her while maintaining the connection between them through their Force Bond. It was a near impossible feat that he was attempting regardless.
Why would he be worried and what was he attempting to hide from her... ?
"What are..." Her words stopped abruptly when his mind suddenly forced two things to happen simultaneously; her left arm wrapped across her body as though she were holding herself down and her right hand pressed against the front of her right leg.
Pain, hot and white shot through the place of contact under her right hand. The air flew from her lungs on a scream and in her mind, his face quickly moved to the side of her head. She couldn't see him through her tightly shut eyes but she felt him there. His breath rolled off of the side of her jaw in heavy pants. It puffed over her collar bone and rolled across the planes of her neck. She fought against her own arm for freedom and even in the pain she was enduring she understood what was happening.
He wasn't really there. He wasn't really holding her but he was with her... in her mind. He was using her body, controlling her for something but she couldn't compute what. There was too much pain, too much fire spreading over her lower half. Her right leg and her thigh were burning. She swore there would be flames if she opened her eyes and followed the pain down.
"Shhh. I know... almost done... we're almost done..." He barely got the words through his clenched teeth as he held her forcefully in place with his mind and her body.
The fluidity in his voice gave way to his nerves, or maybe it was the lack of control he now had while she fought against him. Even her closed eyes couldn't stop her from crying. Salty tears streaked down the creases of her sealed lids and she did nothing to stop them. There was no strength left in her for embarrassment, no reason to put on a front when she knew he could feel what she did anyway. Her upper body lifted from whatever it was she was actually resting on as it reacted to the violent pain seizing her muscles.
"R..en...pl-please... stop... make it... stop!" She was crying out loud, yelling and begging for relief as though he were actually there with her and it broke his heart to hear her pleading with him as though he could do anymore for her then he already was.
Her body was rapidly repairing itself, muscles and bones and skin moved and pulled as it wove itself back together under the command of their mixed powers. It was the longest seconds of his life until she finally passed back out from the pain. It had been the repairing of her shine bone that had finally done her in and in truth he didn't think she'd even last that long, not after her knee...
Before she'd gone unconscious she'd been gasping and panting. Her body seized uncontrollably even after she flopped back against him. Then she'd finally slacked and turned lethargic with the exception of the uncontrollable twitches and spasms that seized her muscles and ligaments while they repaired themselves. Finally her eyes rolled back in her head and he knew she'd find a little peace while he worked with her abilities.
Rey was only out a few minutes but it was long enough for him to finish healing her. He could feel her with him the second she regained consciousness. It took her several quiet moments for her mind to find itself again. Several long seconds before she realized he was still there and only a pin instant after that to remember why she'd blacked out in the first place. Not much of it made sense and he let her be for a while before he finally acknowledged her return.
"Welcome back, sweetheart. The worst is over now. We're nearly done."
Rey kept quiet in her own mind for a long time. She could feel the aftermath of the pain her body had endured but more then that, she could feel his Force moving through her and she chose to focus on that above all else. It wasn't until she felt hands on her sweating face, hands that weren't hers or his, the man who still occupied the fuzzy space of her mind, that she began to wonder what was happening around her again. On the outside of her mind that is, in reality where her body actually was. He'd said she wasn't with him... then where was she?
Still under his control her right hand moved away from her leg and her left arm relaxed as there was no longer a need for her to be held down. He released his hold on her hands and hesitated only a moment before wrapping his arms around her again, at least as his mind projected it. She knew now he wasn't really here with her, he wasn't really holding her. It was in her mind because he put it there. She didn't know how long she laid against him or how long he let her but she was grateful that he was there... again. She mentally sighed, her own emotions overwhelmed her, flooding through her chest like a wave that threatened to drag her down beneath their endless weight. She was so confused. Why was he helping her again... why was he here... comforting her... again?
"Why..." She barely breathed out.
His large hand covered her forehead and he swiped away a mixture of loose strands of her dampened hair and the sweat that glistened along her skin. His hand stopped to rest on the top of her head and his lips ghosted over her skin while he whispered against her cheek.
"You were in pain..." He gave her a simple answer with the expectation that it would explain everything, but the sigh that left his lips confirmed that the confusion she still felt, had bled through their connection.
"You don't remember..." He stated flatly.
Her eyes rolled in her head again. She was so tired... why was she always so tired?
He smiled warmly and she found herself turning her head into the sensation of his rising cheek against her flush, clammy skin. Even in her mind he was warm and Maker damn it all, he felt safe. She knew everything about this was wrong but he felt so right.
"The entrance to the cave collapsed, your leg was crushed. You... you nearly lost it." He said, his voice trembling as though it was his appendage at risk and it were painful for him to speak of.
"It's a good thing one of us can heal and the other was around to provide a much needed power boost. I feel like I'm some kind of battery for you to—" He jested in an attempt to cover up his unease.
"I didn't ask you to..." She defended, suddenly cutting him off.
"No, you didn't..." He was quiet for a moment. "...Rey you don't... you don't need to ask..."
You'll never need to ask... He thought to himself, keeping careful to make sure it wasn't between their little red Force string.
If she didn't know any better she'd think he actually cared.
"Really Rey, after everything?" He let a large gust of air free from his lungs and his massive chest lifted her as it rose and fell.
His frustration was poring through their bond and she couldn't help the guilt that washed over her upon realizing how prickly she was being, but it wasn't supposed to be like this... They were supposed to be enemies. There wasn't supposed to be this much confusion between them. How could he kill his own father but care for a near stranger as deeply as he seemed to care for her. If it was just about her power there would be no need for these moments. The moments of gentleness between them. Now she felt guilty for her lack of understanding. She may have meant something to him once, but that was along time ago and he'd made it painfully clear that he was somebody different now.
Then again, he was snooping in on her thoughts and they were her thoughts, should she really be responsible for how he took her personal feelings? That didn't seem very fair. The mental weight of his arms around her started pulling away and she nearly jumped up in her panic over the loss.
"Wait... please... just..." She started to ramble but that's all it took for him to lock her back down against him.
Now he sighed. "Alright Rey, alright... just relax." He sounded frustrated but he obliged her frantic pleas by tightening his mental hold on her.
Normally she'd be running like a mouse from a cat when he entered her mind, especially with this much dominance, but she was unraveling in his hold and he couldn't bare to watch her mental fatigue strain her any further so he didn't bother to double check to make sure it was what she wanted before he restricted her panicking movements again. If she didn't want him holding her he was sure she'd let him know.
His chin rested on the top of her head and she literally wiggled herself deeper into his hold confirming and reciprocating the need she had for him to at least be here in this moment with her and that was good enough for him. The pace of his heart quickened when she turned into him and his arms opened just enough to allow for the adjustments she needed to be comfortable. When she was done he secured her against him again and she sighed into the warmth he offered.
She let him wrap around her and she did nothing to resist. She was too tired to care about how wrong this was and it felt to perfect to complain. On the outside of her mind there were still hands pulling at her face and she wanted to turn away from them but she found physically she couldn't actually move, so she didn't even try.
"Don't worry, they won't wake you yet. I can keep you here a little longer if you'd like..."
"I... I shouldn't..." Her fumbling words mocked her and she nodded into the crease of his bent arm anyway.
He smiled victoriously. His legs, bent at the knees, acted as barriers; warm walls of muscle and flesh that kept her safely separated from the cold empty space around them and she found herself turning on her side, resting her right elbow on his knee and her face into the crook of his left arm. She hugged his arm and recalled how gentle he continuously was when they were in the confines of her mind but maybe that was because they were in her mind. She had to be safe in her mind... right?
"I told you, it has never been my intention to hurt you." He spoke over her head.
"Why are we on opposite sides?" She blurted out after hearing his confession for what she was sure must have been at least the third time.
She wanted to look up then, she wanted to see his face, wanted to watch his eyes as he answered her... but she didn't. She knew if she did that would make this too personal, too real. She couldn't allow the acknowledgement of how intimate this mental meeting really was, especially while she allowed herself to be wrapped up in his arms. Even more so while she enjoyed it.
His eyes narrowed above her head and his jaw tightened. "Why do you do that?" His angry voice suddenly fired through her head.
Rey's brows pulled in confusion. "It's a simple question, if you really don't want to hurt me then maybe we shouldn't be on opposite sides, the outcome otherwise is eventual... one of us will..."
"No, not that. Why do you deny how you feel when we're together?" He questioned her angrily.
"What... I don't... what are you?" She stammered through her thoughts trying to come up with some semblance of an unoffensive answer.
"Yes you do... You pretend to ignore how you feel so that later on in your mind you can deny that it happened the way it did but why would you want to do that? You know I can feel what you do... so why hide it, why lie to yourself ? It won't absolve you of anything... you're still here now, letting me hold you... kriff, you're practically cuddling with me right now. You're openly accepting what I'm offering you but I'll bet later on, in private, you'll deny it ever happened."
I absolutely do not do that! Rey thought to herself only to be reminded by his response that she still wasn't alone in her head.
"You absolutely do! I understand the first time we kissed. I know it wasn't supposed to mean anything between us. I get that maybe something that was meant to be innocent got carried away." He started.
"Exactly... it was my first..." Rey paused absolutely mortified that she'd almost admitted that he was her first kiss. "I mean... look you're a man and I'm a woman and things escalated..." She defended.
"Mhm, and what about the second?" He asked almost cautiously yet certain he'd caught her in something.
Rey got very quiet. She'd already decided that her response to him back in the decaying Force tree was wrong, at the very least inappropriate. She shouldn't be so drawn to him. She shouldn't want to touch him and she certainly shouldn't want to be touched by him, let alone kissed, but when he leaned in and his mouth found hers... she was lost. She remembered fireworks in her veins, heat in her core exploding out to spread through her, settling somewhere she didn't dare to think about now...
"I... I was supposed to... keep you calm long enough to get you to the cave... remember?" She gave him a half truth which may as well have been a lie. She knew her willingness to kiss him back had nothing to do with keeping him calm but nothing between them could go anywhere, so why was he always pushing it?
He scoffed and his grip on her tightened. His mouth fell over the cup of her ear and he breather out his next words just to feel her respond against him because he knew she would.
"You can't lie between our bond remember, ...I can feel it when you do." He cooed, his soft words tickling the center of her ear. She shivered in his arms and he let out a smug chuckle. "So tell me little scavenger... where did that heat settle?"
He meant it as a poke, mostly innocent and somewhat taunting. He meant it in a flirtatious way but he'd forgotten how invasive he was already being. He should have kept the knowledge of her more personal thoughts to himself and used the, later accordingly, she'd already been through to much for one morning. He expected a heated reaction from her but he didn't expect her to lash out at his lewd yet mostly "harmless" question.
She popped up immediately, pushing through his arms to allow herself the space to face him. She shot daggers with her eyes, the heat in her cheeks a solid indication that he'd gone to far too quickly.
"Never! Never ever in a million years Kylo Ren..." She growled through her embarrassment.
He shouldn't have taken it so personally, he knew she was over reacting because he'd made her uncomfortable but damn it all did she look serious in her threat and that was twice in one day she'd threatened to keep herself from him.
"No wonder I'm constantly going crazy... you reciprocate my advances one moment then not two seconds later, you're pushing me away again. Kriff!" He swore in frustration pounding the ground with his left fist as he swore.
"You know just because you can look into my thoughts doesn't mean you should, they're my personal thoughts! Mine!" Angrily, she tried pulling away from him.
"Oh no you don't!" His arms tightened around her and he pulled her back against him.
"You're not playing that card here sweetheart, you're not the only one with feelings." He admitted, showing her effect on him whether he wanted to or not. "You can take what you want and offer nothing back and I'll let you. I'll let you until I have nothing left to give, but don't you dare pretend that you don't want what I have to offer you! You don't have to reciprocate anything but don't think for a second that I don't know how you feel. You're only lying to yourself by pretending otherwise." His voice strained as she struggled against his hold. He was trying to keep calm, remain as gentle as he could but he still wanted to hold her, he wanted her to acknowledge how she felt, just once, but Maker she was so stubborn.
"How I feel isn't any of your business, Ren." She gritted out through clenched teeth.
"So what... you're going to be one of those girls?" He scoffed, far angrier then he should be.
"One of .... what ... girls?" She questioned, twisting her shoulders against the steel arms that caged her against his hard chest as she fought his hold.
Kylo Ren let her go then. The release was sudden and even though it was only in her mind she fell forward. The world they'd built together was real to them and though they were the only ones in it they'd subconsciously added things like the floor under their feet.
He swiftly gathered himself and took to his feet. His form absolutely towered over hers. She gasped under the cast of his shadow. His nostrils flared and his eyes sharpened with a deep anger.
"Eventually, given enough time and the proper moment... you'd give in... allow us to join." His once smooth voice cracked under the strain of his emotions. She could feel through their bond how blissfully happy that thought made him but it was quickly chased away by hurt and bitterness.
He was unbelievably angry now, she could practically watch the steam rolling from his massive shoulders. His fists clenched and unclenched repeatedly and all she could do was watch from her position on the floor their minds materialized together. Her face heated with the insinuation of his words. Was he actually suggesting that they'd lay together in the future? Her stomach fluttered at the thought. Her blood heated in her veins and her heart boomed erratically in her chest.
His lips flattened and he rolled them together repeatedly as he watched her put his words together in her brain. His jaw ticked and his chin dimpled with the angry scowl he now set above it. Even now she was contemplating what he was implying and even now her body was visibly reacting to the idea. It fueled his anger; the thought that she'd try to deny what he could visibly see exciting her.
"You'd let me fuck you..."He insensitively spit the words out. "You'd let me have you however I wanted you because you'd really want it too but you're too damn stubborn to admit that, so instead of allowing it to be what it should... you'd play the victim and you'd enjoy it during, then feel nothing but guilt and regret after."
His chest rose as though he were holding a breath and his cheeks heated as though his words didn't only embarrass her but himself as well. His lips pulled into a flat line as he stared at her, waiting for some kind of response that never came. She was just stunned. The hurt coming from him nearly made her wince, but she couldn't even do that.
"Is that what you want? You want me to just do things to you? Show you what could be yours while you sit there quietly pretending not to want everything I could give you, all because that allows you deniability. You get to save face in front of your friends and deny having a connection with the other side of the Force because some how not having to admit how I make you feel would be less horrible then what you'd do to me in the process..." He swallowed hard. His resolve falling away to the hurt that was welling in his chest.
Maker, why should he care how she felt about him? He didn't need her approval or acceptance. She didn't need to feel anything back for him... He tried to push his feelings away but these thoughts only made him hurt more.
When she didn't respond he took a step towards her.
"You'd let me fuck you into next year, and you'd allow it, but I'll bet you'd refuse to kiss me because then you could pretend it wasn't consensual. You could walk away acting like it was all my idea, the big bad Kylo Ren somehow forced you into it, forced you to enjoy it..." He bit his bottom lip painfully hard.
He turned away from her then, giving her his back so he could fume with out those shocked hazel orbs staring up at him from her knees. He ran a hand through his hair and yelled furiously at nothing and everything. After a few loud angry words he finally got quite. His shoulders slumped in self defeat.
"You're going to ruin me as a man, Rey! You're going to make me out to be your abuser so you can feel less guilty about wanting the same things that I do... all so you could feel what... closer to the light? Less in tune with the darkness we both no you harbor... or maybe just so your "friends" could stand to look at you..." His voice broke and he crushed his fists together. "I'd like to say that would never happen... " His voice was low, scorn filled from self loathing. "The truth is... if it meant I could have you... I'd be that man... maybe not at first, but eventually... you'd wear me down. I'd give you everything and anything I could to make you happy and I wouldn't ask for anything back just so you could have it all guilt free. I could play that villain if it meant I could have you and protect you from the guilt at the same time. I get it, those you call friends would judge you... but... but I could make you happy. If you could face that it was with me... you could be happy." He admitted weakly.
Her heart was still racing. Fear, adrenaline and excitement accumulated in her brain. He was terrifying, especially undone like this, but there was a part of her that knew he'd never hurt her. He'd proven that time and time again. Yet, his words enticed her. There was something about the choice of words from his mouth and the power behind the man they came from. Some how this situation had escalated into a conversation; one sided as it may have been, about something she'd barely even thought about. One moment they were in fact cuddled against one another; innocently, she thought, and in next, he was screaming about... sex... or maybe something less intimidate but just as physical. She wasn't really sure what the difference was, but she knew there was definitely a difference. She could tell that he felt the same, otherwise why would he be so angry, or offended over whether or not she "allowed them to kiss" during said intimacy, and if he didn't care it wouldn't have changed how he defined it.
She stared at his massive back while he fumed and vented. She should feel insecure, unsafe... something other then what she was feeling. She wanted to reach out and touch him so badly. She was hearing what he was saying but the louder he got the less she thought he was talking to her and the more she felt like he was arguing with himself. Like he was having some sort of internal debate out loud. She understood what he was saying though. He knew why she was hesitant to show him any kind of reaction. He was her enemy, he was on the opposite side of the war they were caught up in and he wasn't just some poor grunt, he was the bloody Commander of the First Order... not to mention the most prominent if not the most powerful Dark side user she knew about, with possibly the exception of his master, who she was certain had to be more powerful then him to keep him under his control for so long, Rey couldn't imagine him allowing anyone or anything controlling him otherwise. He and she, they couldn't be more opposite of one another if they tried.
He was aware of all of these things and yet he was admitting that for her comfort she could what... use him... deny him anything in return and further paint him as a villain, something he clearly wasn't, at least not where she was concerned. He had his faults but mostly she just found him confused. She still didn't understand him. Not even close. But she knew that he did the things he did because some how he thought they were the right thing to do. He had his own code, she didn't know what it was yet but he definitely had one. The side he was on, the war he fought, his position in the First Order... to him these were the right choices and the things he did to serve the greater purpose of those things he believed in, were necessary to him.
She rose to her feet silently. He didn't even notice when she stepped closer to him. She had the same feeling now as she did the first time they spoke in the interrogation chamber; she had the unnerving feeling that she needed to approach him with caution. Her hand flattened along the space between his shoulder blades and she felt the flexing of his muscles as he tensed under her touch. That fluttering in her stomach was back again and this time she couldn't place why. He hadn't said anything, he hadn't done anything, in fact he'd barely even moved. Just touching him made her react and she couldn't fault him for that.
Her head tilted slightly and she spoke softly at his back. "What should it be?" She asked quietly.
His face turned to the left but his body didn't follow. He glanced at her over his shoulder, his dark eyes smoldering with something other then the previous anger that lit them a fraction of a second ago.
"What?" He barely breathed.
She swallowed hard before answering him. She rose to the tips of her toes and ran her hand through his dark hair, pushing it over his scalp as she'd seen him do several times before so she could better see his face when she spoke. "You said..." She cleared her throat and steadied herself before pushing through the sentence, specifically one word in the sentence that she didn't understand well enough to use but she wanted to copy him verbatim so she needed to 'man up' as it were. "You said I'd let you ...fuck me... instead of allowing it to be what it should..." She braved through it and surprised herself at how easily the word rolled from her mouth. She also couldn't deny how enticing the look on his face was when he heard it release from between her lips. His eyes darkened until she couldn't see the brown anymore and they locked onto her mouth as she spoke. His full lips parted and she swore she caught a blush on his pale cheeks. "What should it be?" She repeated lowering herself back down to the pads of her feet.
His eyes, glowing like hungry embers, stayed focused on her while his body turned to mirror hers. The heat between them caused her skin to tingle. The hand she'd had pressed against his back pulled away when he turned and now that it was free of his contact she found nothing better to do with it then to fidget at the hem of her tunic. They stood so close her neck was craned just so she could look up at him and his chin was lowered nearly to his chest so he could do the same down to her. Their eyes were locked and both were silent for a long moment. She fought the urge to wipe her sweaty palms on her hips or her tunic or anything at this point.
Kylo was breathing heavily, as though struggling internally with something but unlike herself he was under control of his thoughts and Rey couldn't get a read on them no matter how hard she tried to get in his head. Just when she thought he was going to say something, his mind was suddenly disturbed. Nothing had changed inside of her mind but she felt the connection between them weaken. The world around her flickered and she felt her conscious mind falling back under her control.
His eyes closed and his face pulled to one side with the tilt of his head. He seemed to be concentrating on something she couldn't see. Maybe it was something outside of her mind, something happening on his end that he wasn't allowing her to be privy of. His nostrils flared and his eyes opened. The intensity on his now hardened face caused her to take a step back. His jaw flexed and his chin shifted with how hard he was swallowing.
"—Tell Skywalker if he wants them back he can meet me where it all began." He took a step back from her then.
Her eyes fluttered confirming he was indeed letting his hold on her mind go.
"Ren... wait..." She tried but he just took another step back, his black armor fading into the shadows of her mind until only the paleness of his face could be seen.
"And Rey, tell him if he doesn't bring me what I want... " He paused and his eyes burned into her, nearly filling her soul with the heavy magma of his gaze. "...I'll send them back in pieces." His voice was now flat, monotone and his continence, very threatening.
After what they'd just been discussing and how raw he'd been... now he'd flipped a switch. Just like that he was the war lord again. The lack of emotion behind his words... terrifying. She knew what ever he was talking about, he was very serious and that truly scared her!
*Hey lovelies, I know this chapter took me a little longer then normal to get out, but I really really wanted to take my time with this part and it literally took me several tries before I felt comfortable with it. I really hope you guys like it, I know it's a little intense but eh you know... drama. Do you think Rey finally has a clue as to how deep in Kylo really is for her now?
