Chp1. Azreia 1

Cold was the first feeling to cross my senses as I awoke, accompanied by warm fur pressed against my back and neck.
I looked up and around, realizing the sun was just beginning to rise.
Shit!
I'm late. I only meant to stay here for a moment, enjoy my time with Lia, my familiar as she endured the last few days of her pregnancy. I could tell she was due to pop any day now, and couldn't stand the thought of being away from her.
As quickly as I could, I stood to my feet and tried to shake off some of the stiffness that had settled onto my bones from the cold, winter frosted night.
Lia slowly craned her neck up to look at me, her eyes heavy and tired. I was worried, this pregnancy was taking a toll on her body, more so than it should've.
I reached down to run my white tipped nails through the fur of her scruff. She nuzzled me before motioning her head as a sign to get a move on. And with that I sprinted away and towards the cobble stoned road.
The castle had many entrances, far too many if you asked me, but no one was, so.
I scurried towards one of the guards guarding an entrance to the maid tunnels, and sprinted through them. Not very lady like, I know. Not very royalty like, oh well.
Scurrying through the tunnels, I tried to slow my pace at every maid, guard, worker, etc. Though with the way they were moving I could tell I wasn't doing too well at being discreet.
Once finally passing through a door leading to my portion of the castle, I finally allowed myself to breathe.
"Princess Azreia! My dear, we've got to get you ready!" An older maid, my mothers old maid Lorenza, addressed me.
I followed her to my chambers, and into the bathroom. Standing at the sink was a lady I'd hoped not to see in my section of the castle, Lady Koria. While she may hold a dear place in the safety and protection of our lands, she was quite the intimidating one. Known for her harsh punishments and whispers of her holding a power of which is beyond this earth.
"Lady Azreia," She trailed off, probably at the sight of my messy hair and dirt smudged trim of my dress.
Righting herself, she continued.
"While I apologize at the sudden intrusion of your personal quarters, there are some matters we should address."
Lorenza began unbuttoning the back of my dress as Lady Koria was speaking to me, eyes straight on mine.
"You're parents plan to marry you off, as you are well aware of, I assume."
I stiffly nodded, before giving a verbal 'Yes'.
She nodded and continued.
"I know what the people here speak of me, and they are, in some ways correct. I do hold abilities that aren't natural to this world, given to my ancestors by a powerful Goddess, and passed down in full by blood. We have many lines, and I wish for you to consider my offer carefully."
I tilted my head slightly, before noticing and righting myself.
Lady Lorenza had finished combing my hair, and guided me to the bath. The aroma that of lavander and teatree oil.
"Instead of giving your life to that of a statue by a random heirs side," Lorenza gasped at her choice of words, making a smile Ghost my lips.
"I offer you the opportunity to come along with me to find and meet with your soul sisters." I could tell Lorenza wasn't going along with Lady Koria's words.
"And why would you offer me this."
"There is a war coming my girl, and you, my dear, aren't meant for the sidelines. You aren't meant to kneel and bend before the ground some Heir walks on. You, my dear, are meant to Rule. "
Her words reverberated in my head, and when I finally caught a breath to speak, she was gone.
"Gosh, that lady is just infuriating!" Lorenza spoke up. She had finished rinsing my hair, and was now standing up and holding a robe open before me.
"Don't tell me her words struck any positive connotations in that bright mind of yours?"
I shook my head with a light smile towards her, and replied 'Of course not!' But as she and three other maids dressed me, I felt something stirring within my chest, something dull filled with light being pressed down and dulled, but it had grown in brightness a bit.
I walked with two high maids trailing a few feet behind me on either side.
My hair was half up and half down, secured with a moon slide in clip, and my hair was styled with loose light curls towards the bottom.
When entering the dining room, everyone stood and bowed towards my direction, I followed their movements with a curtsey, and swiftly sat down in the chair adjacent to my mother.
My mother was a shell of a person when it came to me, years and years of trying for a boy, miscarriages followed her for years, nearly killing her more and more times. When she had me it was the easiest pregnancy she had ever experienced, but I was a female, and therefore inadequate in her eyes. So many years of pain and sorrow just for another curse to bestow itself on her.
Most of the interactions I had with her were awkward at best and heart shattering at worst, but in the presence of company she was on her best behavior. Mother of the year, for five minutes atleast.
"Lady Azreia, I'd like to introduce you to my Son, and heir to the throne, Prince Kaul." He looked just about as pleased as I felt to be here, but covered it with a gentle smile and formal introduction.
Breakfast was filled with plans to unite our kingdoms, and therefor, our lands, through marriage. I tried to engage, tried to play it calm and polite. However, that light from earlier flickered and dimmed a bit inside when our parents agreed that our union would be final, and released to the public at midnight.
Koria's words circled through my mind again, bouncing off the walls of my mind as they spoke excitedly.
I'm not so sure that I heard her right however. Soul sisters? What does that even mean? My mind raced as I ate my food, before deciding that I was full about halfway through. My mind was far too foggy to allow a proper appetite.
...
"Hold still and take in a deep breath." Lorenza said, before pulling the strings of my corset.
With a shuddering gasp, I tried to relax. The corset was horribly uncomfortable, compressing my ribs hard against my heart so I could feel every beat.
It was nearly midnight, and preparations had been quickly and thoroughly put into place.
My makeup had begun a bit before the dress was being put on, and was nearly finished.
I was surrounded by a parade of maids, all being orchestrated by our high maid, Lady Lorenza.
I sat in a daze as all the women worked around me, my mind fuzzy with the confusion of my sudden marriage.
I knew of it, sure. I heard of it, sure. But I was never involved in any of the talk or preparations. Where wad the courting? Where was the conversation? And when the hell was my Mother and Father going to ask me for so much as an inkling of what I felt about all of this?
Lady Koria's words were echoing back in my head as I numbly walked the hallway to the ballroom.
On cue, a man announced my entrance, and I walked down the staircase.
I did have options. And I'd be damned if anybody was going to take that away from me.
And like a personal summons, Lady Koria appeared in the crowd, motioning me to follow her.
Briskly, I politely worked Mt way through people, greeting them and excusing myself from them all one after another.
"Princess!" An elderly woman grabbed my arm, her hair had tiny seconds pulled out and wrapped in yarn in bright colors. Her hair was hard with white stands mixing into the undertones of her hair. She had long yarn adorned with beads hanging from her hair, matching her hair. She was Beautiful with dark lashes framing stunningly green eyes.
"I heard the news, don't do it! You'll lose yourself in the play of wife, your soul will dim, and you will never be complete. Run!"
And with that, she released my arm and disappeared into the crowd.
Yet another bad omen towards this arrangement.
I found Lady Koria, right as she slipped through the nearly all glass doors leading to the garden.
"I sensed the weather in your mind, a storm is brewing. Is it?"
I stared into her dark eyes, before nodding.
"I- I was hesitant, but that woman you sent really knocked the breath out of me."
Her eyes seemed to swirl, hazel mixing with the black.
"I did no such thing Princess. But your heart calls out, attracting attention from those with a deeper connection to this earth, and those who connect with the world outside of ours."
"What do you mean?"
"You will face many dangers in this life, do not mistake seemingly guiding words as kindness or guidance. This is your decision."
"You make no sense." I was exasperated. So much happening in such a short span of time. I had no time to think!
"Yes or no?"

Too be a bit honest, I'm not sure what I'm doing. My biggest dream is to be a writer, so I hope you enjoy this.

FOR NEW READERS
Hey, thanks for reading. This is for my current readers, and I'll will be adding this to the first chapter for the newer reader.
For those who wanted romance, there is romance. It takes a while to get to it, chapter 12.
It's a long wait. And it's only for a brief moment. I will be adding more as we go along. Each character will slowly find her mate.
This book touches on Vampires, witches, shifters, Elves, and Fae.
This main focus will be on the sisters for a good while, but I will slowly incorporate romance.
For those who love a good wait, you'll probably be more into this than those who like smut within the first chapter.
Is there smut? Kind of, I won't detail too much of the sex, but foreplay I will.
I'm not good at long authors notes lol.
In one of the girls lives, you will see her jump his bones kind of immediately. They will have developmental chapters however, and I plan on making them a bit rocky.
The other two sister will have their own romantic storyline, and very different from either sister.
This story is however, still centered around war and making a change in their world. So some chapters may be void of romance. Leave a comment if you want more
Hope this helps!
