Chp 4. Azreia 2

"I did no such thing Princess. But your heart calls out, attracting attention from those with a deeper connection to this earth, and those who connect with the world outside of ours."

"What do you mean?"

"You will face many dangers in this life, do not mistake seemingly guiding words as kindness or guidance. This is your decision."

"You make no sense." I was exasperated. So much happening in such a short span of time. I had no time to think!

"Yes or no?"

-•○●●○•-

My mind was fuzzy, a blur of thoughts all jumbled up.

"Why offer this to me? What ulterior motive do you have? Why me? And what do you expect to gain from all of this?" Well there went all the questions I had. So much for being a prim and proper princess.

"Your soul cries in protest Dear. If you're heart and soul were quiet, I'd be as well. But as it stands, you are incomplete. As are your soul sisters. All I expect from you as of now is that you put a bit of faith in me."

I must be crazy to even consider her words, but they seemed to have struck a cord. Something about what she said pulled at Something inside of me, and that made the light a little less dull. Whatever it is that she's got up her sleeve, well I guess I'll just find out along the way.

"I'll do it." And that was it. All was final with those three words.

I had heard of portals before. They wave and move and flow like water, but they stand in an oval like shape, an inch off the ground. It had to be about six feet tall and four feet wide in the middle. But as I stepped through after her, it wasn't wet. I felt the wind and air, and then a crisp winter breeze as we walked out of it.

I was back with the wolves.

"Your pack calls to you my Dear, they'll follow you wherever." Lia waddled over to me, her panting deep and heavy, eyes glazed over with fatigue.

"I will open another portal. It is up to you if you wish to bring them. There will be plenty of yard for them."

It pained me to think of uprooting my pack, but it hurt even more to fathom being away from them.

"Do you wish to come with?" As the words left my mouth, more wolves began to creep from the shadows.

We will follow you anywhere Azy. You're heart is ours, as ours is yours.

With Lea's words, the rest began to follow the witch into the portal. It was quite a large pack, and I counted all Eighty of them as they made their way into the portal.

Once I made sure they were all through, I followed suite.

There were whispers of my pack, that I was secretly part wolf, or that they were secretly part human. I quite loved that idea, as I have always had a pull towards the wolves, but time with them has only proved that theory false.

Guilt pulled at me as I stepped through after. As crazy as it may sound, these wolves were more family than my own. But I had also just abandoned my blood, my heritage, the spoon that fed me life. One offer was all it took, and I left. Just like my older brother, I left them.

It hurts, especially considering that I have left both my older and younger sister to clean up my mess.

"Your soul pulls for something bigger my dear, but your heart floods with guilt. You family, hell, the kingdom, may not yet understand, but they will. In time you will sit on a throne once again, that I can promise you." Koria said.

Her voice was so strange, so kind and soft, wise, but also strong and full of authority and truth. Some say that she is unable to lie, but all humans lie. That just nature.

"But will their hearts ache with sorrow when the realise that I have up and left them, like a coward?"

Your family treated you as a horse Az. It is only right that you stop carrying both yours and their baggage and start carrying your own. Lia's voice rang in my head.

"She is right dear. You must learn to stop giving up your soul's energy for others. The last thing we need is for you to be left weak and usless." Koria's voice carried from yards ahead of me.

We had come to a beautiful stretch of land. It was a huge opening in the middle of the woods. A small white cabin stood in the middle surrounded by a couple feet of clear grass further circled by wild flowers.

It was beautiful.

"We must not dally around Dear, for you have work to do."

"What am I to do?"

"I do hope that you planned to help your Luna through her birth, as she is ready to give birth in a few hours."

I laughed, became why not? I thought it'd be something out of a fairy tale from the way she'd been talking.

"Of course I do. Now lets get settled, shall we."

The rest of the wolves took shelter in the woods. The first few rows of trees had wooden roofs about ten feet above them. Koria said that they would have more built for them when I completed my training. But for now they had a roof and the roots of the trees provided burrows for them.

Lea and her mate followed me into the cabin, and were settled on top of some blankets.

"I'll be back in a few days, one of my familiars will help give instruction while I'm away. Good luck Lea. Be smart my dear Azreia" With that, Koria walked away and into a portal.

She's quite the character, isn't she? Lea chuckled.

Hours went by, and Lea panted and pushed out three beautiful babies.

I sat by her side, rubbing her stomach and drying off each before handing the pups off to mama. Three beautiful pups.

Go and get my sister, would you Ria?

Her sister had just had a litter herself, and I knew she needed that companionship from her.

"No problem mama." She rolled her eyes at me. They still gleamed with fatigue, but they were also brighter.

I walked out of the cabin, only to find it surrounded by all the wolves.

"She needs you Singa." I called out, but her and her pups were already walking towards me.

How's she doing? It startled me, because up until now, I'd only heard Lea's voice in my head.

Shaking off the suprise, I smiled at the beautiful white and brown wolf.

"She's strong and doing well. Three beautiful and healthy pups." All the wolves seemed to like the sound of that, yelping and jumping. One even howling, starting a joint group howl.

Thank you. Thank you for always being here. For choosing us. She bowed her head, and walked through the door.

But I didn't just choose them.

"Thank you, thank you for choosing and letting me be a part of this." I whispered. Turning and slowly walking in, I could've sworn I saw the other wolves slowly bow to me out of the corner of my eye. But when I looked back, they were all just as they were before.

Singa and her pups were huddled around their Luna. Her mate crouched behind her, licking at the nape of her neck.

It was such a sweet sight. Singa helped groom her sisters pups as Lea got some much rest. It was sorta funny, watching the pups feed from their sleeping momma as they were being groomed by their auntie.

I wished I had that kind of love with my siblings, but as being the only child born in wedlock, it never worked out. I was still technically the only child, despite everything. It was due to my father that my mother could hardly conceive. And with that came arguments and affairs. My brother belonged to another father, my sister's from my father's affairs. And then me, a true blooded royal, yet still not a man.

But despite that, what a wonderful feeling it was to lay down next to Lea and fall asleep as the sun began to rise.

I don't know what all I'll have to do, but I sure am excited. Still guilty, but excited nonetheless.

The ending of this one felt right. Maybe not so much of a cliffhanger, but I thought it was
