Let's Split Up

Chase sat back in the couch next to Anti. The last forty-eight hours had been confusing, weird and scary as shit but he was getting use to the freakshow.

Unfortunately.

Off and on, he'd glance over at Anti who was still in that trance, his eyes black. He held his hand firmly on Chase's laptop screen, making it glitch and go crazy.

'He better not break it' Chase thought mildly to himself, 'That's where all my . . . stuff .. . is'

He didn't want to think about it in case Anti could still hear his thoughts.

Chase took in a long and heavy sigh. He wasn't even paying attention to what was on the TV now.

He was a little tired but he figured that was because of Anti taking his energy from him.

'The sooner he becomes human, the better. . . if he can. Not even he knows for sure. . . I wonder what his history is with that dark entity creature thing. Why does it not want Anti to become human and why doesn't Anti know a lot of things? Did he LOSE his memory? He couldn't have just been born the other day like this.'

Questions filled his mind and the more time went by, the more he realized that he was just full on staring at Anti in that catatonic state.

'I do kinda feel bad for him, though. To not know any common knowledge. I can understand not ever trying coffee before but to purely ask what humans DO everyday. . . . that's not exactly an easy question but most people have their own ideas'

But Anti's not like most people. . .

Chase straightened his back and stretched and sniffled a little, 'Getting kinda hungry. Look like it's almost dinner time already. I could probably order a pizza for us or something'

Chase got up off the couch and wandered in the kitchen, looking for the pizza place number on his fridge.

After finding it, it took out his phone and dialed the number.

'Let's see. . . . a supreme sounds good. Has everything on it. Maybe a plain pepperoni, too? Yeah, that sounds good'

"Hello, this is Freddy's Pizza. Can I take your order?"

Chase cleared his throat, "Yeah, I'll take a-"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHh!!!!!"

The sudden scream scared the shit out of Chase but his instincts took over. He immediately dropped the phone and ran to the living room.

The man on the phone tried to talk to him, not knowing what was happening, "Hello? Sir? Is everything okay?"

Chase bolted into the living room but what he saw there scared him even more.

The couch was torn up like claws had raked into the cushions. His laptop was laying broken across the other side of the room.

Glass was everywhere on the floor from the window that had been broken.

There was blood on the floor.

Anti was gone.

"Shit. . . . shit, shit, shit, shit!" Chase didn't know what to think.

On one hand, he was glad Anti was gone.

On the other, he was scared.

What happened?

Was Anti okay?

Did he get hurt or scared and ran away?

Did that other entity thing come and kidnap him?

Chase's thoughts ran wild.

He didn't know what to do.

Marvin, Henrik, Jackie and Jameson took the subway to Brighton. It was a long ways to travel but they were almost there.

"I still don't understand why you couldn't have just teleported us there" Jackie whined.

Marvin sighed, "If I did, the council would be alerted. I don't want them knowing that I'm after something just yet or that there's potential danger"

"Vhy not?" Henrik snorted, "There IS danger. Anti AND zhat Dark entity are wildly out of control and dangerous beings."

Jackie watched Jameson check his pocket watch again, "You planning on being somewhere else or something?" he chuckled.

Jameson just smiled at him.

Marvin continued his conversation with Henrik, not hearing Jackie's words to the mute.

"I really don't think Anti is all that dangerous. He didn't attack us when we stood down"

"He killed over a dozen people" Jackie muttered.

"Defending himself" Marvin corrected, "Remember? He said they were in the way. He needs Chase for something"

"Probably as a sacrifice to open a portal to hell" Henrik snorted.

"Nah, that's not right" Marvin waved it off.

Henrik stared at him, "It was a joke"

Marvin blinked, "Oh . . . yeah. . uh . .I know"

Jackie paled, "Wait, that's a possibility?"

Jameson shook his head.

"How do YOU know?" Jackie questioned him.

Jameson pointed to the TV in the subway.

"Anyway" Marvin went on, "I don't want the council knowing anything just yet. They could try and kill Anti and for all we know, he could be the good guy in all of this"

"Uhhhh" Jackie stopped him, "Are you sure about that?"

"Vhy? Vhat is it?" Henrik asked him.

Jackie pointed at the TV.

Marvin and Henrik followed his hand.

It was the news playing an emergency broadcast.

A woman was on the screen showing a picture of a man that looked oddly enough like Chase. . . but wasn't.

"Authorities warn that this man is possibly armed and very dangerous. He has been spotted around the Brighton area and has already murdered several people and witnesses report the man exhibiting a wide range of emotions in rapid succession. Authorities speculate him to be insane. He is a white male with brown hair and green eyes wearing a black T-shirt with blood on it and dark jeans. If you see this man, please let the authorities know, call 999 and get to safety. Do not try and confront him."

Marvin groaned, "Oh. . .. shit"

Henrik even had a worried look on his face, "Are we sure Chase is even still alive?

Jackie snapped his fingers, "Check the tracker!"

Henrik rolled his eyes, "Vhat good will that do if it's still glitching?"

"Well maybe if Anti is far away enough from Chase, it'll stop?"

Henrik hated how much sense that actually made.

He sighed and pulled out his tablet.

He shook his head, "Nice suggestion but it's still freaking out"

"Damn" Jackie thought he actually had a good idea there for a moment.

"It's alright" Marvin didn't look alright. He looked a little worried, "We'll get to the directories and look up Chase's address. Hopefully, he'll be home and unharmed."

"Shouldn't we go after Anti, though?" Jackie asked.

". . . . .yeah" Marvin sighed, "How about this. I go with you to find Anti and Henrik and Jameson go to the directories to find Chase's address. Sound good?"

"Vhat?!" Henrik snapped at him, "That's a terrible plan! I can't understand Mr. Jackson! I'm pretty sure he doesn't like me, either"

"Who does?" Jackie muttered to himself.

"I HEARD ZHAT!"

"FOR FUCKS SAKE, STOP IT!" Marvin cracked a little, making them all stop and stare at him.

Marvin took in a deep breathe, " . . . . . Jameson can still write, Hen. Play nice. We're coming to the Brighton stop now. This is where we'll split up. Hen, just give me a call when you find the address and we'll all meet there."

"But-"

Marvin stood up with Jackie as the subway came to the stop and the doors opened.

Henrik jolted up as well and ushered for Jameson to follow him.

Jameson looked like he didn't want to be there but agreed nonetheless.

Walking up the stairs to the streets, it was already starting to get dark.

"You guys better hurry to the city hall before they close for the night" Marvin warned them, "If you bump into Anti, run and call us"

Henrik nodded.

Reluctantly, the four split ways into pairs, off on their own missions.

Chase ran his hands through his hair.

'This is so stupid. Crazy and stupid'

He had decided to go out and try and find Anti.

He couldn't explain why.

Maybe he WAS crazy.

Chase was starting to panic, though, "ANTI! ANTI, WHERE ARE YOU!!?"

He couldn't explain it but Chase had a feeling that maybe this was all his fault.

"Dammit" he cursed at himself, "He couldn't have gone too far"

After a few more minutes of walking and running around, Chase made it to the gas station nearest his place.

'Maybe he's in there? Could be worth a shot'

He needed a drink anyway.

Chase got up to the door and walked in. He looked up and down the aisles but couldn't spot Anti anywhere. He passed the liquor aisle, though, and grabbed a bottle of whiskey before making his way up to the cash register.

There was a little line but he figured he could wait.

'Maybe he's fine. Maybe he had some sort of weird transformation thing happen and he's human now?'

Chase sighed and looked up at the TV.

He felt his heart stop and he nearly dropped the bottle in his hand.

'Is that . . .me?'

He was seeing the emergency broadcast.

'No. . . no, no. . . shit. . . that's Anti. But it LOOKS like me.'

"Fuck" he whispered to himself.

Luckily, though, the cashier and the person in front of him hadn't seen the TV yet. Chase quickly pulled his hood up and put the whiskey away before leaving the gas station as fast as possible, unnoticed.

'Shit. . . what do I do now? Anti's gone nuts and is killing people. What's worse is that he looks like ME! Dammit! Now I REALLY have to find him before he does any more crazy shit!'

Chase kept his hood up and jogged down the street.

'The news said he was last spotted by those apartments on Ingersol drive. Maybe he's still around the area and I can get to him'

He didn't want to think about what he would be able to do once he found him.

A good half hour later, Chase finally made it to the location.

He had to be very careful, though, just in case any police were in the area that knew his description.

He searched the area up and down, being careful about keeping his hood up and avoiding people.

'Maybe he already left here. He can teleport, after all. Dammit, am I ever gonna find him?'

Chase was starting to lose hope.

And then he heard a strange sound coming from an alley.

Chase halted, 'What was that?'

Against his better judgement, he decided to take a look.

The alley was dark. The sun was already starting to set, allowing the shadows to get even darker.

Chase could hear something weird like growling mixed with crying. Something scratching the brick walls.

The farther in he got, the more he could make out a figure.

"Anti? Is that you?"

The figure froze.

All of a sudden, Chase could feel that same dread he had in the hallway of the facility just yesterday.

That ominous danger that was building up.

The figure turned its head.

Chase gulped, "A. . . Anti?"

Blood drenched his shirt and face.

His eyes glowed a predatory green.

He looked angry.
