___

when morning came and jimin opened his eyes, he had hoped for it be a lovely morning, maybe with a strong coffee sitting on the table, waiting for him, along with an appetizing smell of nice french toasts and scrambled eggs. he had expected jiah waking him with her beautiful smile, as what he dreamt at night, running her fingers through his hair and leaning for a sweet morning kiss. however reality is nowhere close to his imagination.

he woke up a pounding headache on a couch to a two-year-old wailing close to his ears. there sure was the fragrance of coffee in the air, but that didn't subside the crying baby near him. with a frown, he's now sitting up straight, staring at the little boy who's now quiet, sucking out milk from his sipper, sitting on the couch beside him, staring back intently with his dark, round eyes. jimin can now see that his eyes resemble closely to kim taehyung, the father.

"oh, mr. park, you're up," jiah makes her way towards him with with a brief smile and places a cup of coffee, a glass of water and a tablet on the table in front of him. "your head must be killing you, so take this pain killer. and uhm i made some coffee, if you—"

"thanks," he smiles back, "and i'm sorry for last night,"

jiah gives a small nod, tying up her hair into a bun and starts with her job of picking up jihun's toys. the toddler whines, extending his hand out for his favourite car, which jiah ignores. so he slips doen from couch, putting his cup on the table and snatches the car from her. "what?" jiah crosses her arms, staring at the two-year-old.

"ji' car," jihun huffs, hitting his mother's leg.

"so? who got it?"

"yoo'gi,"

"it was me, your mom. yoongi isn't doing shit for you,"

"jiah," jimin chokes on his coffee, staring at her wide eyes, "is that okay?"

"what?"

"cursing in front of your child?"

"oh, you don't know him. he curses more than me," jiah scoffs, getting another smack from her son, which makes her hiss and she glares at the little boy, taking a step towards him. jihun cackles mischievously, running away from her and jiah pretends to follow him slowly, having the baby laughing happily to the fact that he was outrunning his mother.

jimin watches them with a soft smile, which is when jihun runs towards him, climbing on the couch with his help and hides behind him. jiah gives up then, shaking her head as she chuckles to herself and hears her washing machine's long beep. "drink your milk," she tells her toddler before leaving him with jimin and goes to grab jimin's shirt from the washing machine, since she washed it early in the morning and it's even dried now, ready to be worn.

when she's returning with the white formal shirt, smelling like her fabric softener, rather than jimin's usual cologne, the doorbell rings. she sighs softly, going to take the door first, as jihun seems to be having a nice chat in his broken language with jimin. she opens the door and there's taehyung, smiling at her, holding a bag of what smells like sweets. jiah gulps nervously, glancing at the shirt in her hand, then back at taehyung's boxy grin.

"good morning," he says, entering the place beside her and hands her the brown paper bag, "i got doughnuts and chocolate croissants for jihun. where's he? is he sleeping?"

"uh uhm yeah, you should come later," she nods quickly, not wanting him to see jimin for she knows too well what will happen if he does. "thanks for this, i'll give it to him when he—"

"mamma!" jihun us laughing about something, walking to her with his cup of milk still half filled, "no..."

"ah jihun," taehyung beams, crouching down quickly and jihun gasps, running to him for a hug.

"daddy!" he's giggling while taehyung carries him, showering his face with kisses.

"yeah, how's my little boy doing? did you miss daddy?" he cooes, heading inside but jiah rushes in first, stopping him from going any further, which earns her a frown from taehyung. "what's wrong?"

"nothing," jiah says.

"then let's go in?"

"uh, yeah... yeah, sure, but—"

"jiah," she curses under her breath, turning around slowly and there's jimin standing, bare chested in all his glory, just that he still has his pants on from last night. she lets go of taehyung and steps near jimin, giving him his shirt.

"you should go," she mumbles, getting a nod from jimin.

"i'm sorry," he says again, putting on his shirt and glances at taehyung, reading his angry expression clearly on his face, "it's not what it looks like, taehyung. i just came to talk—"

"like that?" taehyung glares at him, "without your clothes? you wanted to talk like that?!"

jihun flinches when taehyung raises his voices, sitting scared in his arms. jiah takes the toddler from him, shooting taehyung a glare as jihun hugs her quickly. "please don't shout here," she lets him know, noticing how taehyung regrets losing calm in front of his son instantly.

"i'm sorry," he says, "but really, jiah? you do this with our son around? you don't love me anymore, fine. i can't force you to love me back. but i really didn't think you could go down this bad... seriously. you have a man, i feel weird saying this— undressed in your house, when you have a young child? this is ridiculous—"

jimin doesn't get to throw a punch on taehyung's face, since jiah has already taken care of it, slapping the man hard to have his head whipped to the side. taehyung's jaw ticks, glaring at her and jimin steps forward this time, "what? i said it's not what it looks like. yet you're making stupid assumptions. and that too about your child's mother? you're the one who went too low, kim taehyung,"

"who are you to speak between us?" taehyung grits, pushing jimin back, making jimin hisses as he shoves against him, grasping his collar tightly in his hands, throwing daggers with his eyes.

"guys!" jiah steps closer, loosening jimin's grip on taehyung and pulls him back, "please don't fight here. you're scaring jihun!"

"sorry," jimin says, "but it's his fault. why did he say all that?"

"i didn't say anything to you. i don't get why you're even here." taehyung grits.

"taehyung, stop." jiah warns him, "just leave. you've said enough,"

"you've really changed," taehyung shakes his head in disappointment. "look, do what you want but remember that i won't tolerate my son being a part of your casual relationsh—"

jiah scoffs, staring at taehyung with an unphased gaze and steps forward, "fuck off."

taehyung eyes flicker with anger, pushing his hair back agressively with his hand as he takes a deep breath to keep himself calm, before speaking, "look, i care for you, and i don't want you and our son to be associated with random men. you're not any single woman out there, jiah. you're a mother and you have to understand that you cannot behave like this,"

"like what?" jiah glares at him, "please, for fuck's sake, taehyung stop thinking that you know me. stop making assumptions about my life. you're jihun's father and want to see him, i didn't stop you from that. so just keep it till there, okay? don't try to be anything to me. not after today, at least. and if you wanna see jihun so bad, i'll come outside anywhere. you're not coming here at my place ever again,"

"you're being ridiculous right now," taehyung lets out a dry laugh. his eyes travel to jimin, who is just as pissed as him. taehyung rolls his eyes at the man, looking back at jiah and sighs, "okay, fine, go inside. i'll see jimin off,"

"you—"

"just listen to me, baby," he emphasises, stroking jihun's head gently and smiles at the son, "go, with mamma. daddy's coming in a while, okay?"

"stop it." jiah lets out, not even having the energy to mad at this point. her eyes fill with tears as she looks at him with a pleading gaze, "please, just leave me alone. i'm done— i'm tired of this, tae... i'm tired of you doing this... just leave, i mean it,"

taehyung tries to speak, but jiah shakes her head, stepping away from him, "no... not again. just leave me alone," she repeats, making him look down as he nods slowly, and she looks at jimin as well, "go home..."

he doesn't dare saying anything to her, afraid that his words might end up hurting her more. so he just agrees, muttering out a last apology before dragging taehyung out with him, leaving jiah alone. she locks the door, closing her eyes and leans against it, tears flowing from her eyes. she wonders what she ever did to deserve all that, one second these men are blind in love with her, and the next moment they're saying the most insolent of things.

she had no hopes from jimin, yet he showed up last night and confessed like that. the  taehyung, who has been a good person, almost like a friend this whole while since he told her the truth about why he had to leave her alone the first time. their words and actions make jiah question her own sanity, not knowing what to believe and what to see as a warning sign when eveything in the beginning feels like butterflies.

she hugs jihun tightly, letting a single sound break out of her mouth, because then jihun would be scared and might cry as well. she stays still for a while, taking a few deep breaths until she's not crying anymore and pulls away to look at her son, who instantly smiles about something, touching her face with his little hands.

"i love you, ji," jiah whispers to him, pecking his lips and chuckles when he grins, happy with the kiss. she goes back to the living room, sitting on the couch and leans back, keeping jihun close to herself and rubs her nose gently against his, "they're all so bad... your dad and—"

"daddy," jihun nods, and jiah smiles sadly.

"yeah, i don't get him. no matter what he says and does. in the end, he always ends up hurting me... y'know, when we were dating," she blinks her tears away, glancing down at her lap, "he used to tell me that he'd always stay with me and love me forever. he wanted to marry me and have a small family. a child, you," she chuckles, tears flowing from her eyes as she can still picture herself cuddled under the sheets with taehyung when they couldn't sleep at night and talked about life, about future.

"i guess some things aren't meant forever? but— but when i had you, ji, i used to imagine sometimes. me, you and taehyung, being a happy family. it was all so nice in my imagination, but i had to stop thinking that way, because we know he wasn't there with us." she sniffles, smiling at him and lays down, making jihun lay with her as well. the baby however, sits up, sitting on her stomach, playing with the buttons of her top.

"even jimin today," she takes a deep breath, "it was weird, right ji? he said he loved me... needed me. what does he think i am? a doll that he realised he needs after throwing it away? i'm not going back there... he loves me or not is his problem. i don't even want a man in my life— i don't have the energy to go through this everyday." she rubs her eyes, watching jihun frowning at the button, trying to pull it out from the fabric, making her sigh.

"ji, listen to me," she shakes his arm gently, drawing attention from him and smiles, "i can't wait for the day when you'll finally start understanding me. maybe you'll like me more? maybe think that your mamma has always been a strong girl? i hope you'll think that,"

jiah nibbles on her lip, holding in a sob and cups jihun's chubby cheek in her soft hands, "please keep loving me always, you're all i have, ji," her voice cracks, crying silently as she kisses her son's hands a couple times. the toddler stares at her with worried eyes, and leans down, laying with her quietly.

"mamma no' cwy," he mumbles, climbing up to lay on top of her, peeking at her face and tries to wipe off the tears, then looks at his hand that have gotten the agony of his mother. jiah kisses his hands again, wiping off the wetness of her tears away from them and smiles a little.

"i'm not crying," she wipes her tears quickly and smiles wider, "look, do i look like crying?"

"mamma silly," he sniggers, making jiah gasp.

"you're silly," she huffs at him, pulling him next to her and turns to her side, tickling jihun until he's laughing and squirming between her arms, making her laugh as well. she stops after a while, letting him down to play while she stretches her body, thinking if she should take a nap right now or not. it's still only eleven o'clock, and she feels tired already.

however, when she closes her eyes, a ball hits her head, making her gasp, opening her eyes to find jihun giggling by the coffee table, holding his plastic baseball bat. "don't hit me," she says, returning the ball and tries to sleep again, but this time she's met with a soft kiss on her lips due to which she ends up smiling too. wrapping her arms around her toddler and gives him a bigger kiss on his cheeks, "happy now?"

"ji' wuv— wuv mamma so much!"

jiah stares at him with wide eyes, for it was the first time he said a complete sentence, instead of speaking broken down words. she pulls him in a hug and kisses him all over again, "i love you, i love you, i love you more, my little baby!"
