Chapter 21 || Replaced

"Bye, Jihun," Jiah waves at her son, chuckling with Seokjin as the boy doesn't look that bothered, busy playing with the teddy he has grown close to here. So close that Seokjin said Jihun gets upset if some other kids are playing with that teddy instead of him.

Jiah smiles at the elder male, who wishes her a good day ahead before she walks out, pulling out her phone that has a few notifications which she couldn't reply to earlier. One of them is from Yoongi, apologizing for not being available the past two days because he was visiting Daegu and a lot happened. According to the long ass message which is very unlikely of Yoongi, he said that his parents had tricked him into going to a blind date since they believe that he's getting old and should find a girl with whom he'd spend the rest of his life with.

Jiah couldn't help but laugh, telling him that she'll drop by his resturant this evening where he can spill all the tea and they could catch up over dinner with Seokjin, Hoseok and Namjoon too. Yoongi gave a thumbs up emoji, making her sigh in relief that nothing happened to the Min Yoongi she knows.

Then there are a few texts from Taehyung, asking for a few pictures of Jihun from the day he was born. She smiles softly, going through her gallery while selecting her favourite ones, recollecting all the good moments with her son. Waiting for the bus to come, she selects a few pictures, sending them to Taehyung's number and bites in a smile on realising that he comes online instantly.

A honk from the street makes her look up, recognising the car, which makes her smile, standing up and walks up closer. The window rolls down, however instead of Namjoon's wise face, there's Jungkook flashing her a cocky grin. "He's your brother, right..." She hisses, reminding herself of the fact and withdraws her hand from the handle.

"I can give you a ride though," He offers, opening the door for her, "Get in,"

"No thank you," Jiah sighs, stepping back, crossing her arms on her chest.

"Oh com'on, it's fine," He says, "I'm not in a rush and I'd never mind being your driver, sweetheart,"

Jiah shakes her head, giving him a look which makes him sigh and step out of the car, pushing his hair back roughly with his hand. "Do I call Namjoon hyung for you?" He jokes, leaning against the back door and opens the door to the passenger seat, "This is me being a gentleman. I'm not trying anything, I promise,"

"Do you want me to hit you or what?" Jiah rolls her eyes, shutting the door close and Jungkook winces, yanking his hand back quickly. She restraints herself from walking away, suddenly worried if she actually slammed the door on Jungkook's hand and had him injured. Cursing softly under her breath, she steps closer to the man, while he's holding his hand, his face twisted in pain.

"I'm sorry," Jiah says, "I didn't mean to hurt you, Jungkook-ssi,"

"But you did," Jungkook clicks his tongue, "God, it hurts like hell,"

"I'm sorry..." She mumbles, digging in her bag and pulls out a bandaid. Her cheeks heat up and Jungkook stops with his dramatic winces and curses, staring at the tiny teddy bear bandaid in her hand. "Show me," She hushes out, never looking at his face.

"That's..." His lips twitch before he presses them into a thin line.

"My son likes teddies, okay? Don't judge!" Jiah huffs, pulling him by the sleeve and frowns, trying her best to locate where he got hurt.

"I'm not judging," Jungkook says, stepping closer and bites his lip, wincing again, "Ow!" Jiah jumps a little, glancing at his face then back at his hand, almost whining at her misery.

"I'm so sorry, Jungkook," She repeats, "I'm so careless..."

"You are," He nods, picking his nose as he hides a smirk and Jiah ends up sighing, staring at her feet, which earns a confused look from him, "Hey, you don't have to be that upset. And please, I'm not going to scold you, baby," He assures, patting her side, "Get in the car, you can put that bandaid to help me and I can drive you to your work place,"

Jiah thinks before protesting, checking the time. She's not late and pretty much on time, but waiting for a bus to take her to her destination might just be what's needed to lag behind time. So she nods slowly, looking at Jungkook's face, "I'm trusting you this once... Please don't try anything funny. I'm really not in the mood to fight okay?"

"You're so precious," Jungkook chuckles, "I'll fight for you," He winks jokingly, opening the door again as though he wasn't hurt just now and jogs back to his side, getting in the driver's seat. "You can give me the directions or put it in here," He gestures at the screen with the navigation system.

Jiah hums, putting in the address of Jimin's company and sighs softly, "I heard from hyung that you were sick. How are you now?" Jungkook asks, holding out his hand for the band-aid which he certainly doesn't need.

"I'm fine," Jiah replies softly, poking at his fingers and frowns, "Where are you exactly hurt?"

"Oh here," He grins, pointing at his heart and getting a look from Jiah which makes him laugh further. The girl instead of fighting him, shakes her head, glancing out of the window. "What happened, Jiah? Is everything okay? Are you still feeling sick?"

"No, I'm good," She refuses, "Just drive fast. I'm getting late,"

Jungkook hums softly, peeking at her face and decides to roll down the windows, getting a gasp from her as her hair starts flowing with the wind entering through her window. She turns to glare at Jungkook, who is smiling at her, "I love car rides with the windows down," He says.

"I have to get to work! My hair- Gosh!" She hisses, pushing the button to roll up the window again and takes a deep breath, fixing her hair as she turned to mirror to have her reflection in it.

"It's fine, Jiah. You really need to loosen up a little don't you think?" He says, "Work, your son and those men, do you even have time for yourself?"

"Shut up," She removes the hairpins, shaking her head and runs her fingers through the length, "You ruined my hairstyle. I was looking good today,"

"You still look amazing," Jungkook swears on his life, pulling over when they reach her office building and unbuckles his seatbelt, turning to Jiah with a soft smile. He leans forward, tucking her hair behind her ear, "It shows on your face and mood when you're stressed. Let's smile a bit more?"

Jiah looks at him, gulping down her saliva and blinks a few times, staring at Jungkook who casually leans closer, placing a soft peck on her forehead, "You should let your hair down sometimes. No ties, rubber bands or pins, just naturally," He suggests, "But who am I to say anything. Do whatever makes you feel beautiful, although you rock all the time,"

Jiah pulls back, sighing softly and Jungkook clears his throat getting back in his previous position, straightening himself in his seat while Jiah unbuckles her seatbelt, getting out of the car, "Uhm thanks for the ride," She mumbles quickly.

"It's nothing," Jungkook smiles at her, "Go now, you were running a bit late, right?"

"Uh yeah," She grabs her bag, closing the door and doesn't pay attention that she's waving at him, having a forced habit ever since she was little. Jungkook chuckles at how adorable she can be, waving back which makes her more flustered. She turns around quickly hitting herself for being like that, although Jungkook's words circle her mind, wondering if she can actually let her hair down.

She looks over her shoulder, sneakily but normally trying to see if Jungkook's still there. And he is. The car is parked right by the entrance where Jimin usually gets off his own cars. Jiah nibbles on her lip, keeping the pins back in her bag and shakes her head, letting her hair fall freely past her shoulders, reaching till her waist. She rakes a hand through her hair, hiding her smile and turns back, catching Jungkook staring at her, lips stretched into a smile, one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the gear shifter.

She shakes her head, averting her eyes from Jungkook and makes her way inside, pushing the loose strands of her hair back. Today she needs to talk to Jimin for real. Confront him about what happened the last two days, especially yesterday. It must've really hurt him the way she pushed him away from herself and ended up hugging the man she wanted to get rid of. Jiah feels like an asshole for letting all this happen, since it looks like she was just using Jimin all this while.

She punches in her id card quickly, making her way to the elevator and takes a deep breath, telling herself that it's okay if Jimin is mad at her. He has every right to. The plan is to calmly approach him with a coffee, apologize for yesterday and then explain everything that happened. Maybe he'll understand? Or maybe he gets so furious that she ends up losing her job. Whatever it would be, she's gonna take it and accept it.

Walking towards Jimin's office, Jiah feels this nervous for the first time. She glances at her watch, and then back at the hallway which is empty, letting her know that Jimin isn't here yet. "Okay great," She mumbles to herself, straightening herself and opens the door, entering inside. The usually clean and elegant looking office is quite a mess today. The files are scattered on the table and a few on the couch, an unfinished cup of coffee on the desk along with the laptop left on. The drawer with the ties is open too, making her sigh, realising that it is less because of her absence, and more because of what she probably did to Jimin.

She puts her bag down, taking a deep breath and ties her hair up in a bun with the help of a pen she finds on Jimin's desk. Starting off with the cleaning, she piles up the files, going through the names and contents to put them in their respective places with their kinds. Then she comes to the desk, picking up the cup of coffee, which is cold but surprisingly smelling okay.

"What have you done here, Park Jimin?" Jiah mutters to herself, shaking her head as she plugs in the charger of the laptop on seeing that battery icon in the corner is red. She saves the document before shutting it off and keeps it on one side, gathering other stuff from the desk to have them back at their place.

The door of the office opens, making her look up, straightening herself quickly for she had thought it would be Jimin, however the person who comes is not even close. It's a girl for some reason. She's shorter than Jiah, eyes shaped more like that of a cat and hair done neatly into a ponytail. She gives off an awkward smile, making her way in with a cup of coffee, placing it on the desk before facing Jiah.

"Hello, you must be Miss Jiah," She starts off, "I'm Yeongsu, Mr Park's new secretary. I know this is a very short notice, I didn't get any time to settle in either,"

"What?" Jiah stares at her with a frown, too stunned to react as the words sink in, making her look down at her feet, confirming that Jimin didn't want to see her anymore. "When did you- Uhm, When did you join?"

"Today is my first day, actually," Yeongsu smiles, "I'm very nervous. I heard Mr Park is strict about work and doesn't hesitate firing his secretaries,"

Jiah sighs softly, nibbling on her lip as she nods slowly, wiping her sweaty hands on her skirt and gulps down her nervousness. She picks up her bag, taking a glance at the new girl, "Good luck," It's forced with a smile, which Yeongsu returns, bowing to Jiah politely as she makes her way out of the office, still wondering if she'll get a chance to talk to Jimin or not.

As she goes to open the door, Jimin is already standing there, halted at the sight of Jiah. His hair isn't as nicely combed as they usually are and his blazer is hanging on his arm than being fitting over his shirt like it always does to make Jiah drool. His lips don't smile today and eyes don't crinkle either, instead what breaks her heart is the glare he drags from her face to his new secretary's.

"You," He calls her out, "Who told you to let other people in my office?"

"Mr Park," Jiah hushes out softly, "I'm sorry. It's not her fault... I didn't know I've been replaced,"

"Am I talking to you?" Jimin glares at her, making Jiah look down, her filling tears at his harsh tone of voice and the look he gives her, like he can't stand her being in front of her.

"I'm sorry..." Jiah lets out a whisper, "I'm sorry for everything, I'll leave, Mr Park," She bows quickly, wiping her tears and walks out of the office, ignoring the eyes that follow her up to the elevator, probably because nobody knew this was going to happen.
