Chapter 17 || Return of the Jerk

Jiah takes the folding stroller that she still uses with Jihun, since he really loves running away at times and carrying him all the time would be tiring, and of course the last thing she wants to do is bother Jimin about carrying her son for her. So she just takes the stroller with her today, and Jihun is already happy, waddling with his little legs, trying to take his stroller from his mom.

"You wanna sit?" She asks, getting a nod from him. She unfolds it after stepping in the elevator and makes him sit inside, securing the belt so he won't be able to move out by himself.

They reach the ground floor and Jiah pushes the stroller out, taking the sloped platform beside the steps, an amazing addition for people with stroller and kids having bicycles. In front of the building she spots Jimin leaning by a car, a different one from that day to the party, but she has seen this before at work. Flashing him a smile, she walks closer, taking notice of how Jimin has the ability to pull off anything he wears. She thought he only looked in good in formals, but having him in casual jeans, t-shirt and a denim jacket, makes him look even more young and cool-ly attractive. And those shades hiding his eyes. Damn!

Jimin pulls them down, smiling at Jiah, his eyes doing a mini run from her face to the white crop top and the denim shorts she's wearing today. He almost whistles, but keeps it subtly, stepping closer only for her to see, "Cute," He whispers, then shifts his attention to the little boy sitting in the stroller, letting Jiah take her time to calm down from blushing.

"Hey, little one," Jimin smiles at the baby, crouching down and holds out his hand, "I'm Jimin, your mom's... well, boss for now,"

"What do you mean by 'for now'? Are you going to fire me?" Jiah gasps.

"No, but I might upgrade to being someone a bit more special?" He chuckles.

"Who knows?" Jiah shrugs, making him laugh. Jihun stares at Jimin quietly, then looks at his mother who smiles at him, crouching down as well. "He's a friend, Ji. Say hi,"

"Hi..." Jihun mumbles, waving briefly and snuggles back in his seat, "Mamma..."

"Yes? Should we go now? Jiminie is taking us out," She cooes at her son, patting his leg to have him more comfortable and he nods once, humming softly.

"Jiminie?" Jimin arches up a brow.

"Let's go," Jiah mumbles, taking Jihun out and starts folding the stroller back, "Can you put it in the trunk?"

"Yeah sure," He nods and opens the door of the trunk, placing the stroller inside while Jiah is standing beside him quietly. "I like the nickname," He lets out in a low voice.

"I'm glad," Jiah replies back with some sass, "Making Jihun call you uncle would be weird. I could let him call you boss, but then that would sound funny. So I had to come up with something myself,"

"Thanks a lot for thinking so much," Jimin sighs.

"Always," Jiah grins at him and keans closer, "Looking good by the way,"

"I'm sure I do. You haven't looked away from me ever since you came," He holds back a laugh, as Jiah's again exposed in front of him. She groans to herself, shaking her head.

"Why can't I be more subtle?"

"You're fine. I like it,"

"Of course, you do," She sighs while Jimin chuckles, walking to the front and opens the door to the passenger seat, letting her settle in with Jihun, before going up to the driver's side.

"Where are we going?" Jiah asks, making her son sit facing the window as he kept turning around to look outside.

"You'll see," Jimin glances at the toddler, smiling as he's standing up beside Jiah's lap, on the seat, wearing his cute little shoes that make squeaking noise everytime he moves. "He's so cute," Jimin chuckles.

"Thanks," Jiah smiles, "I just hope you don't regret asking me to bring him,"

"I won't. You can stop worrying about that," He says, then glances at Jiah, "Uh I hope he doesn't mind a little long drive?"

"No, don't worry," Jiah shakes her head.

Jihun turns, calling for his mother and taps on the window, making Jiah follow his hand, realising that a toy store just passed by. "What? Is there something outside?" She pretends not to see it.

"Car,"

"We're in a car," Jiah says.

"Ji car..."

"Ji has a lot of cars at home," She stroks his hair. "Now sit down, or else Jiminie will leave you here,"

Jihun pouts at that, sitting down quietly, peeking at Jimin slowly, "God! You're cruel, Jiah. I haven't even made friends with him and you're already making me sound like a bad guy,"

"He's two, Jim— Mr Park," Jiah clears her throat.

"Ah we were almost there," Jimin clicks his tongue, and Jiah shakes her head, "Why don't you wanna say my name?"

"Because I'm bad at switching between names. If I start calling you with your first name, I'll probably just keep going with that,"

"And I don't see a problem there,"

"I am your secretary, sir. I can't call you like that in front of your other employees and other businessmen,"

"Well, technically I'm your boyfriend for the world, Jiah,"

"Right..." She nods slowly, "Fine, I'll try but I'll be calling you Mr Park in front of the others. I don't want anything to feel weird,"

"As you wish," Jimin shrugs, shifting his attention to Jihun, "I introduced myself to you, Jihun. Aren't you going to tell me something about yourself?"

Jiah bites down a chuckle, making her toddler sit straight, facing Jimin and pats his back, "Right, tell your name, baby,"

"mamma..."

"Yeah, mamma's right here," Jiah nods, and looks at Jimin, "Ask him his name,"

"Oh," Jimin nods, "What's your name buddy?" He asks, holding Jihun's hand gently.

"Ji," Jihun replies.

"Is that your real name?" Jimin chuckles.

"Tell Jiminie who's mamma's baby?" Jiah cooes, hugging her son, making him smile widely as he points at himself. "Good job, Jihun,"

"Wow," Jimin laughs amusingly, "You both are adorable,"

"I know right?" Jiah grins, "Now Ji, tell Jiminie your name,"

"Ji," Jihun says again.

"Say your full name. Park Jihun,"

"Paa'k Ji'un!"

"Yes!" She smiles, "Now give me a kiss,"

Jihun leans closer, leaving a quick kiss on her lips before cackling out in happiness as he jumps in his place, making Jiah laugh. Jimin watches them with fond eyes, especially Jiah whom he has never seen so open and carefree before. Something about Jihun makes her smile more and be herself more than he has ever seen, even in the last one week when their formal relationship hasn't been so formal. Despite the frequent exchange of knowing glances, subtle touches here and there, flirty comments and friendly jokes, he couldn't bring her to laugh such wholeheartedly like she does when Jihun is playing with her.

He sighs softly, smiling to himself as he focuses ahead on the street, settling with the fact that maybe he won't be able to be her favourite man in the world, because that place seems to be secured by this cute little boy, sitting in Jiah's arms and blabbering half the words he's trying to tell her. But at least Jimin can try and have the second position in her life? Be the second man after Jihun?

•••

"Aww!" Jiah gasps, letting Jihun down as some dogs gather around them. Jihun watches them for a moment, stepping back when a pomeranian sniffs around his feet. "This is the best place, Jimin!" She turns to him, instantly catching him in a hug, "Thank you so much! You have no idea how much me and Ji love dogs!"

Jimin chuckles, patting her back, "I'm glad you love it," He says, pulling away, leading his hand towards an empty table, "Let's get something to eat first,"

Jiah nods, glancing back at her son as she leaves him to play with the dogs and sits nearby with Jimin. She watches Jihun giggling and running as he chases a shitzu until catching it's tail and forcefully gives a hug. Jiah laughs lightly, fixing her hair and turns to Jimin, finding herself falling for Jimin a little already as he is watching Jihun too, just like her.

"May I have your order please?" A waitress asks, drawing attention from both Jimin and Jiah.

"Yeah sure," Jimin nods, glancing at Jiah, "Coffee?"

"Sure," She smiles, "A vanilla latte,"

"Of course, ma'am," The girl smiles, "And for you, sir?"

"Cappuccino," He says, "And uh for Jihun? What does he like?"

Jiah thinks for a second, looking at the waitress, "A banana milkshake? Small one please,"

"Sure, anything else?"

Jiah shrugs her shoulders, glancing at Jimin, "Can I ask Jihun if he's hungry?"

"Of course," Jimin nods, then smiles at the waitress, "We'll let you know in a minute. Please get us the drinks for now," The girl nods, bowing to him and Jiah before leaving.

"Jihun, c'mere," Jiah calls, getting attention from the toddler and he runs up to her quickly, having all the dogs he was playing with follow after him. "Do you wanna eat something?"

"Jelly," He says.

"Not jelly. Anything else?" She asks, bringing him on her lap, while Jiun tries to get down and go back to play with the dogs. She shakes her head, letting him go at last and sighs, "Let it be,"

"Won't he be hungry later?" Jimin asks.

"Yeah, but it's okay. I'll feed him when he starts crying," She chuckles.

"Why waiting for him to cry? We can take something for him,"

"It's okay, Jimin. You don't have to bother that much. He'll be fine with the milkshake,"

"It's not a bother. Why do you think like that?" He leans forward, holding Jiah's hand and smiles softly, "I'm happy Jihun's here. He makes you happy and I can see it,"

"But what about you? I understand if you—"

"You're actually misunderstanding me, Jiah. Yeah maybe we could've had a different kind of date, probably more romantic and fancy, but trust me I love this too. It's the first time I've seen you actually loosening up, and it's all thanks to your son. So, I'm happy he's here, and of course I need to be friends with him to get myself any closer to you,"

Jiah laughs at that, shaking her head, "Jihun is very protective of me. He doesn't let random people get near me,"

"Really?" Jimin glances back at the two-year-old, amazed by the mother-son duo. But then one thing strikes his brain, "Random people means that guy who was bothering you?"

"Er not really. He hasn't met Jihun," Jiah scrunches up her face, "Random people means, Kim Taehyung. I ran into him twice and I had Jihun with me both the times. Boy was he crying that day," She shakes her head, "He was scared,"

"Why? Did Taehyung do something?" Jimin frowns with concern.

"Well, kind of. But can you blame Jihun? He's just two, and any stranger with me would scare him," Jiah says, quickly flashing a smile to waitress who returns with their drinks.

"So, he did something huh?" Jimin asks once the girl leaves, and Jiah calls Jihun back to the table, showing him the cup of milkshake for him.

"It doesn't matter. Let's not talk about him. I'm here to enjoy with you, not discuss about what Taehyung did a few days back," She smiles, making Jihun sit beside her and gives him the cup, telling him to sit quietly and just sip from the straw that's given with the cup.

"If you say so. But just so you know, I'm a good listener,"

"I'm—" She hushes down s shadow hovers over the table, making them look up to their side. Jiah gasps in shock, staring at the man in disbelief as he's grinning at her. Soon he pulls out a chair from the table nearby and sits down beside Jiah.

"Hey, beautiful,"

"Jeon," Jiah hisses, "Has it been a week already? Why are you back to following me?"

"Two days more than a week, actually. And no, I'm not following you, it's just destiny trying to tell us they're meant for rach other," He says, ignoring Jimin's entire presence and leans closer to the table, smiling at the little boy beside Jiah, "Hey, you must be Jihun,"

"Wha— How do you know?" Jiah gasps, "I swear to god, Jungkook—"

"Relax baby, Namjoon hyung told me," Jungkook says, "Since you complained to him about me. He scolded me a lot," He sighs, then smiles anyway, "Your son is cute by the way,"

"Excuse me? We'd like you to leave us alone," Jimin throws an unwelcoming look to Jungkook, getting a bitter smile in return.

"Oh c'mon, Mr Park it's not like I'm going to steal your little date," Jungkook chuckles deeply, "Relax, you seem tensed,"

"Go from here, Jeon," Jiah sighs, "Please stop invading my privacy like that. Even if I believe you that you aren't following me, I'd really appreciate if you don't always show up in front of me every chance you get,"

"I missed your beautiful face," Jungkook heaves out a dramatic breath, "And ever since I learnt about who Jihun really is, I really wanted to see you guys,"

"Just leave," Jiah hisses, standing up from her place which has Jimin following right after. Although she gives him an assuring nod and grabs Jungkook by his shirt, pulling him up, "I'll see him off," She says, giving one nasty glare to Jungkook as her words are directed to Jimin but referring to Jungkook.

"You look so hot when you're mad," Jungkook whispers with a playful grin, winking at her and turns back to wave at the toddler, "Bye Champ," Jihun stares at Jungkook cooing at him, which eventually makes him smile as he waves back. "Good boy, you're so friendly, unlike your mom,"

"Shut up," Jiah takes him outside the café, spotting his motorcycle right away and pushes him towards it, "Stop following me. I'm telling you gor the last time,"

"You promised me a date," He says casually.

"No, I did not. You just promised yourself a date,"

"C'mon, just one small date? I swear I'll behave," He says, stepping closer with a flirty smile as his voice lower to an octave, "Please bahy, you can't be so cruel,"

"I'm heartless," Jiah mutters, "You need to stop—"

"Wasting my time on you, leave you alone, and stuff like that. I know that. But I really wanna get to know you, and I want you to know me— like what I really I am, not just a jerk,"

"I hardly believe that's gonna change," Jiah shakes her head, "Have you dated anyone before? Girlfriends, boyfriends anyone?"

"Yeah, a few actually, why?" He rakes a hand through his hair.

"Then why are you after me? By your looks, you can't be that desperate to—"

"I know I'm drop dead gorgeous, thanks, baby,"

Jiah stares at him, feeling her words getting stuck in her throat as she lets out laugh at his words, not even feeling mad anymore. "You're hopeless," She shakes her head, ignoring him quietly watching her, probably because it's still the first time she laughed at something he said. "Go from here, Jungkook. I'm sure Namjoon oppa told you about my son to keep you away from me,"

"Yes. But I think Jihun's cute and we'll get along well,"

"You think a lot, don't you?" Jiah arches up a brow, patting his shoulder, "I'm going back in, please don't come anywhere near me. It's not very good to have a guy strolling around while I'm already on a date with someone else,"

"I get that," Jungkook bites his lip, "But I really hope I'll be in Park Jimin's place some day,"

Jiah shrugs, snapping her finger in front of Jungkook's face as a warning before she leaves, "Do not follow me,"

"Okay madam," He sighs, stepping back towards his motorcycle, rubbing the back of his neck a he raises up his hand to get Jiah's attention, "So I at least expect to hear from you? A text maybe?" Jiah sighs, shaking her head as she heads back inside, "You trust my hyung right? He's the one who raised me, so I can assure you I'm not a bad guy, Jiah,"

Of course she trusts Namjoon but Jungkook is just a whole different story. She rolls her eyes, taking her seat in front of Jimin again, "Sorry about that jerk. He won't bother us anymore,"

"You didn't have to walk out with him," Jimin states.

"He wouldn't leave if I didn't scare him away,"

"So you decided to get up and talk him into leaving? I saw you laughing with him, Jiah," He sighs, "Just tell me if you don't want this. I thought you weren't interested in him,"

"I'm not interested in him," Jiah says, "And I wasn't laughing because I was happy or anything. It was just... I don't know out of pity or something? Jungkook has a big head and it's full of himself, to the point where telling him no is useless at times,"

"Whatever you say," Jimin sighs, picking up his  coffee and takes a sip, not looking at Jiah anymore.

"Jimin, please I'm serious. Why would I come here with you if I was interested in him?"

"What you just did said otherwise,"

Jiah stares at him with disbelieving eyes, glancing down at her lap and nods slowly before standing up. She carries Jihun in her arms and picks up her purse, "I'm sorry for wasting your today, Mr Park. I guess I'll leave now," She says, and heads towards the cashier, flashing an awkward smile, "Can you please give me the bill?"

"Yes ma'am, just a second,"

"Jiah, wait," Jimin jogs up to her, "You don't have to—"

"No, I have to," She says, placing her card on the counter before Jimin does, making him sigh deeply as he holds her hand.

"You don't have to leave. I'm sorry for saying that,"

"It's okay, sir," She lets out, giving a brief smile to the girl behind the counter and walks out of the café with her son. Jimin follows right after, not saying anything anymore as she stops by the car, and he falls into thinking that she's waiting for him to take her back home. Although he's confused when she doesn't get in and points at the trunk.

"You're not leaving, Jiah. We're at the other side of the city," He breathes deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose, "Just get in. I'll drop you home if you wanna go back,"

"I'll manage,"

"Why are you so stubborn?" Jimin mutters, opening the door and stands in front of her, "Just listen to me for once—" She ignores his words in between, taking the keys from his hand and presses the button that opens the trunk. He watches her with his jaw clenched in anger, raking a hand through his hair not protesting anymore when Jiah takes out Jihun's stroller unfolding it and makes him sit inside. She gives the toddler a smile, returning the high-five with that the baby holds his hand up for.

"Mamma Ji goin' paa'k,"

"Sure, let's go," She nods, walking away from Jimin.
