Chapter 09 || Lover Boy
Picking Jihun up from the daycare was Jiah's favourite part of the day when she would finally leave the office stress and meet her little prince who Jin told her always keeps glancing back at the door to see if it's his mamma this time. And today she's more happy as Park Jimin- for some reason, decided to let her off early and cancelled his meetings from the later half of the day.
With a wide smile dancing on her lips and eyes shining in enthusiasm, she gets off the bus, heading to another building where Jin runs the daycare. There are a few people already here to take their kids, one of them- the kids, she knows is a girl who Jihun often waves at while leaving the place.
She smiles to herself, imagining her son growing up and making that girl his girlfriend. They would look so cute together, holding hands and Jihun being a gentleman to his lady. Yes. And for that, Jiah needs to put some work in and teach him how guys should behave, because the ones she had in her life were no more than some dipshits.
"Hey beautiful," Her thoughts are cut off by a familiar voice, making her beautiful dream of her son and daughter-in-law end midst this nasty dude's ugly voice. She will definitely tell Jihun not be Jeon Jungkook.
"Are you okay now? How was your day?"
"It was fine till now," She hisses, glaring at the man who laughs, scratching the back of his neck.
"Let's make it better," He tries, "Ice cream? I heard girls like it,"
"Then go feed your girls,"
"I have these eyes for one girl, and that's you Park Jiah." Jungkook sighs dramatically, holding her wrist and stops, grinning at her- not smirking like he usually does. His eyes crinkle in an adorable way which makes Jiah frown, thinking if he's the same guy from a few days back who just wouldn't get his head out of his pants. He slowly lets go of her hand and clicks his tongue, "Sorry, I got too excited. Uhm so anyway- wanna grab some ice cream real quick?"
"No thanks," Jiah rolls her eyes nonetheless, looking away him and keeps walking.
"You don't like ice cream? Anything else? Jellies?"
"Dude, leave me alone seriously," She sighs deeply, stopping and faces him with her arms crossed on her chest, "Why do not understand I'm not interested?"
"I don't know, I have a feeling you'll love me."
"I won't. I don't like guys who don't respect a girl's no."
"I- Okay," Jungkook nods, lowering his head with his lower lip caught between his teeth as he's thinking hard. Then he looks up with some hope and smiles softly, "I can wait...?"
Jiah shuts her eyes, hissing in annoyance and stomps her foot on the pavement before snapping her eyes open with an idea that sparks up her brain with a mischievous light. She nods at him, pressing her lips into a thin line and eyes him down, "I don't think so,"
"Oh I can, you just say." Jungkook chuckles coyly, reading her gaze which gives him a boost of confidence and he steps closer, "You might think this is a game, but believe it or not, princess, I don't go this far just to play for a night or so."
"And what if I say I already love a guy?"
"I'm quite good at stealing," He smirks.
"You can't," Jiah squints at him, "The one I love means the world to me and I can't go a day without him."
"Lucky guy,"
"I'm lucky," Jiah smiles to herself, "I had him when someone left me to die alone. He fixed me and healed me. So no, Jeon, you don't have a chance against him."
Jungkook stares at her, his smile dying gradually as he sees the girl smiling her purest smiles for the first time since he met her. She really does look deep in love, and Jungkook can't help but wish for Jiah to have the same smile some day when she thinks of him. But right now that looks nearly impossible, so he nods slowly and sighs, "I guess I'll wait for you to leave him,"
"I won't,"
"Who is this guy?" His voice sounds desperate with each second, more annoyed as his brain forces his heart to believe that she's already someone else's. "Does he have a name or you're just making it up to keep me away?"
"Jihun," She smiles, "Park Jihun,"
"Park Jihun," Jungkook nods, cracking his neck. "Mind if I have a word with him?"
"Of course, go and find him. Talk all you want." Jiah hides her laugh, clearing her throat as she steps away from him and waves her hand, "Bye, my Jihun must be waiting."
Jungkook pokes his tongue to his cheek, running his hand through his hair, "I get it. I won't see you until I've got this little lover boy of yours. If this is a war, let it be. Jeon Jungkook never loses."
"Good luck," Jiah sees him storming off to his motorcycle and drives away.
She takes a deep breath, shaking her head and bursts out laughing at how much Jungkook will have to struggle to find the guy named Park Jihun, for he surely wouldn't expect him to actually be a two-year-old baby. Poor Jungkook will have to put a lot of work and still get nothing in his hands.
Jiah calms herself down from the laughter attack and heads back her way to get her son, happy to be able to surprise him early today. But a part of her mind goes back to tricking Jungkook like that, and now she notices how he actually kept his words that he said earlier. But the fact that he never left her alone is usually what puts her off. If he fixes that along with his otherwise cocky attitude, he might as well have a chance considering his handsome face, silky voice, tall and strong figure. He could be a go-to boyfriend material for any girl. Provided that girl isn't already a mother.
That makes Jiah sigh, but is instantly pulled out of her train of thoughts, hearing Jihun's high pitched cackle, calling out her name and runs to her with his tiny arms open.
"My baby," Jiah smiles, crouching down as she returns his hug, "Mamma missed Jihun,"
"Ji mish mamma!" The boy giggles, pulling away and leans again closer to ger face this time, pecking her lips claps his hands.
"I love you too," Jiah chuckles, standing up with him as she carries Jihun in her arms, glancing around to look for Jin who is busy talking to a parent at the moment. "What did you do today?" She looks back to her son.
"Ji playin' wid- wid car!"
"Ah really? That's great. Now do you wanna go out?"
"Yoo'gi!"
"He's your uncle, baby,"
Jihun doesn't mind and keeps blabbering out half of his sentences between some understandable words, telling Jiah about his day. She strolls down the stairs exiting the building, smiling at her son's cute way of speaking with his hands moving dramatically in the air and lips often forming a tiny 'o' when he acts surprised with something.
Then her eyes land on the man from three days back- the day she saw something different in Jungkook and also the day, she crossed paths with Kim Taehyung again. He's alone today not with his manager who Jiah never wished more to be a lie. She turns on her heel swiftly, hugging Jihun right in her arms before looking around to find something to engage her instead of having this man's attention.
"Mamma jelly," Jihun mumbles,
"We'll get jellies," She nods, heaving out a sigh and walks to the nearest convenience store. The toddler wriggles in her arms, whining to get down and pick his chocolates and candies himself which Jiah doesn't mind and leaves him on his feet. "Don't go too far," She tells him and sighs as the son doesn't even bother listening, running to the aisle where his eyes find the chocolates.
Chuckling lightly at the toddler, she grabs a basket and puts it near him, "Put your stuff in it okay?"
Jihun looks at her with his round eyes, clearly not understanding the command at first. So Jiah crouches down, taking the pack of candies from his hand and places it inside the basket, "We put the things in the basket while shopping. You've seen mamma doing it right?"
Jihun hums, gathering everything that his tiny hands could grab and dumps it in the poor basket. Jiah stands up, shaking her head and looks around for more stuff in the upper shelves where her son couldn't reach. After removing a lot of unnecessary stuff and taking the necessary ones, she heads to the billing counter, happy that at least she did some shopping that should last for her this month.
"Is that all, ma'am?" The cashier guy asks, having Jiah scanning all the items trying to remember if she missed anything.
"Ah right," She gasps and turns to Jihun, "Hey, go grab some diapers for you."
Jihun nods once, marching off his way confidently, while the mother waits near the counter, watching him with a proud expression that her two-year-old was growing up pretty well and could do most of the stuff according to his age.
"Excuse me?" A voice says, making her turn around, "If you're not billing, could I use- Jiah... uh hey,"
Jiah gulps staring at his face, then at her feet, cursing god for making her so insanely unlucky to meet Taehyung again when all she wanted to do was avoid him! In fact she didn't even want to shop, but just to not see this man, she had to buy all these things! And yet the universe plays unfair, making him stand right in front of her, staring back at her.
"Yeah sure," She steps away, moving her basket to the side, letting him to go on first.
Before she turned around to look for her son again, Taehyung sighs deeply taking her hand and drags her to an empty aisle, "I forgot something, just a minute," He tells the cashier.
"What are you doing?!" The girl sneers at his face.
"I missed you," Taehyung bites his lip while Jiah looks uncomfortable, her eyes wandering to the front for Jihun. "Jiah, I know you're mad but please baby, I had no inten-"
"I don't wanna hear that, I'm done. I'm over you, and I hope you're not expecting anything from me." She states, glancing at her wrist which is still caught between the grip of his hand, "Now leave my hand, I've to go."
"You've to hear me out," He emphasizes.
"Why? So you can go about how much of a waste I was? Or how you found someone else better than me? Well that is good for you, Taehyung. I moved on too, so it's all sorted. I don't need you in my life again."
"I don't-"
"Mamma..." A baby voice makes Jiah turn to the front of the aisle, seeing Jihun looking around the cashier desk with a scared expression on not finding his mamma there. "Mamma... Ji b'inging a-'iper..." He slurs out, breaking into a sob when he still doesn't find Jiah around.
"Leave me," Jiah says, yanking her hand back from Taehyung.
"You said you loved me,"
She doesn't reply, more focused on her son's cries. Taehyung follows after her, freezing when he watches her kneeling down to a toddler and hugging him tightly, "Shh, don't cry, mamma's right here." She says with a smile, like she wasn't just now raging at Taehyung, and kisses the baby's cheek after wiping the tears away.
"Mamma..." The boy is hugging her back too to much of Taehyung's surprise. He feels a pang in his chest, eyes nearly crying as he imagines her being married and even has a child now. Releasing a shaky breath, he found her eye when she stands up, carrying the baby boy in her arms.
"M-Mamma...?" Taehyung whispers, praying all gods and powers in the universe to shake him awake if this is a dream, for the last the he'd want is the girl he loved with all his heart to be married and be someone else's child's mother.
"You- he... Jiah..." He feels himself stuttering at the sight, making Jiah sigh.
"Yeah? My son, got a problem?" She arches a brow before turning away and puts the pack of diapers in her basket, "Please carry on, he will take some time I guess." She says, smiling a little at the cashier.
The guy nods, starting with his job while Taehyung takes a few deep breaths to gain himself back. He faces Jiah and gulps nervously, "You found someone else too?"
"Why are you interested?"
"You're married now," He hushes out, ignoring her question. "Even have a child,"
"I'm not married," Jiah turns to him, "And yes I have a child. If you can make one, I can have one," She grits out, glaring at him.
Taehyung gasps, going into another attack to his heart hearing that from Jiah's mouth. "You're not married then... this-"
"Shut up, I don't think it's important for you to know anything." She pays for the items and takes the bags, smiling thankfully at the cashier.
"Thank you, please come again!" The boy says as she walks out of the store with Taehyung following behind like a restless kid, leaving all the things he had to buy on the counter.
"Jiah, who's child is then?"
"Mine," She rolls her eyes, "Now will you leave me alone?"
"That's fucking a child Jiah! It's not a joke! I know it's not yours!"
Jihun flinches at the loud voice as Taehyung grabs her arm, stopping her from leaving, scaring the toddler even more. He breaks into a cry, hitting Taehyung's hand away from Jiah and hugs her tightly.
"I'm okay, Jihun. Sorry for scaring you," She whispers, placing the bags on the ground and pats his back, "Everything is okay, he's not hurting us alright?" That's when Taehyung regretted touching Jiah and raising his voice in front of the child who keeps calling her 'mamma'.
"I'm sorry, buddy," He tries, feeling bad when the baby keeps crying, sticking to who used to be his favourite girl. Still is.
"Stay away," Jiah warns him, glaring at him, "Don't you dare touch me and or my son again, Taehyung. Just leave- like you did earlier and forget I ever existed, because I'm sure it won't be that hard right?"
"No, Jiah I lov-"
"Stop with that, please. Don't say anything that you don't mean." She states firmly, stepping back and turns on her heels to walk away from him, leaving him alone.
