Chapter 02 || Daycare

SeokJin, Yoongi had said, a tall and good looking man. Good with kids just as sweet as he looked, for that is his job: to be good with kids. Jiah's eyes crinkle slightly with the smile that is flashing through her lips contrasting the tormented look on her son's face as his hold on her coat tightens, mumbling out her name softly, almost like a pleading for her to not leave him alone with some strangers.

The man smiles knowingly, stepping forward and extends his arms out for the toddler, looking much eased than Jihun who turns away instantly, burying his face in his mother's shoulder, making her melt slowly.

"It's okay Jihun, he's a friend." Jiah's voice is soft between a kiss on the baby's naturally puffy cheeks.

"Come on Jihun, we have a lot of toys here. Let your mom go, we'll have fun together." SeokJin tries again, patting Jihun's head but scoots away quickly when the boy whines, hugging the mother tightly.

"Mamma has to go, baby." She sighs, a thin smile displaying on her features as she talks to her son, "Go with uncle Jin, he even has a big teddy here."

"teddy...?"

SeokJin understood the look on her face when she glanced at him, nodding slowly for him to agree and confirm her words, "Ah yes, we have a big teddy waiting for Jihun, and you can make a lot of friends too."

"Yeah, see? Don't you wanna make friends?"

"Ji makin' fend... teddy" He nods, making Jiah chuckle.

"Yes, Ji will make a lot of friends and play with the teddy too."

"Adorable" SeokJin smiles as Jihun nodded his head, smiling at his mom for he loved the thought of making friends, but more than that he loved playing teddy bears. Even Jiah had no idea how he developed this enormous love for those brown fluffy stuffed toys, but whatever it was, it did make working a bit easier for her as the boy would never bug anyone if he has his teddy with him.

Jiah smiles as well, placing him on his feet and straightened his cars t-shirt and the blue denim shorts secured on his tummy that has a visible amount of baby fat deposit, making him look like a cute teddy himself. Leaning closer to his face she points at her lips, getting a heartfelt giggle from the toddler's lips as he quickly places a kiss.

"Mamma will come back really soon okay? Be a good boy and have fun." Jiah says, glancing at SeokJin who held his hand out for Jihun and took him inside. "Bye Jihun!" The boy looks back once, eyes stopping at her as his smile gets replaced with a pout and Jiah realises he's about to cry, probably now sensing the seriousness of his mamma not being around.

SeokJin picks him up quickly, before the baby ran out to the door and nods assuringly at her, mouthing, 'You can go miss, don't worry about your son.' That gave her a bit of strength to turn around and leave instead of running to have her child in her arms again just so he doesn't cry.

The sky looks clear today, not too sunny, in fact it's colder than a normal September day in Seoul due to the frequently blowing wind. Jiah smiles a little, hoping Jihun would have a good day and she won't worry too much and focus on her work as it is her first day too.

A bus stops in front of her, reminding her of the new life she's chosen for herself and her son. Yoongi was right, this, indeed, is a big step and could make a huge difference in her life. He knew what she was trying to say when she first reached out to him that night, suddenly wanting him to hear out her plan about her dream life, not the one she had in middle school, but the one that is actually possible in reality.

"I gotta work and pay off all these huge ass loans!" Jiah had told him, earning a dismissive scoff from him as a very obvious reaction. But when she repeated it with the more determination and a fire fuming in her eyes that reflected how much she's taken from the cruel world till now, he was forced to reconsider the idea.

"How?" He asked, knowing much more about the world than the girl did. And it was a very good question according to her. How? So to find that answer, she sat the weekend with all the certificates and her graduates degree, and studied everything with precision, concluding that any company would want to heir her if they value skill and knowledge.

After three months of trying and applying to various firms and facing constant rejection for her lack of experience (ignoring the intern year), Jiah finally found what she wanted that day on the article from Entice, the magazine. Park Jimin, one of the youngest CEOs of the decade yet another billionaire with a gold mind; THE PARK HOLDINGS INCORPORATES.

So here she is, standing in front of the thirty-four storey building with seven additional underground floors, having her ID card hanging from her neck, the soft beige handbag loosely on her right arm, ready for her first day of work at the age of twenty-two. Taking a deep breath and bringing the determined smile back on her lips that mumble a small 'fighting!' to herself, she makes her way in, greeting people on the way to the reception where the same girl from last day stood.

"Hello Miss Jiah," She says, recognising her at once, making her smile and great her back. "Congratulations on getting the job. I'm Han Suyeon."

"Thank you," Jiah smiles, "I'm Jiah as you already know, Park Jiah."

"Yes of course I- I'm so sorry, please excuse me." Suyeon laughs nervously, taking the phone that just rang and gestures her hand for Jiah to go towards the elevator as she mouths, 'eighth floor'.

Jiah nods quickly, giving a thumbs up, walking the same way like the last time, hoping she won't see her boss this once. The short journey ends quite fast and she finds herself smiling at the the boy, Kang Jaesung, from that day.

"Good morning Miss Jiah,"

"Good morning," She bows halfway when he stops her with a chuckle.

"No need to do that, it's fine."

"Uh uhm okay" She smiles nervously.

"Yeah, you can call me Jaesung since we'll be working together from today. The person who used to be here with me, joined the military a month ago and I've been alone ever since."

"Well not anymore," Jiah laughs with him and moves behind the reception desk next to him, looking around her top, where a computer is placed and files are stacked vertically on the wracks next to it.

"I'll help you with the stuff, even though I'm not that good, but I'll try for sure."

"Thanks" She chirps, happy with her work place and the sweet colleague. He smiles at her and takes a seat on his rolling chair, gesturing her to sit as well for he brings out a few files and starts explaining the stuff.

Their heads raise up from the files, turning to the side for the first time in the last half an hour of learning, seeing the branch president coming their way and a girl behind him. Jaesung stands up instantly and Jiah follows his instincts, bowing to the senior man who nods in response, not saying anything and passes straight to his office. While the girl steps ahead and asks for something that sounds alien to Jiah. Her eyes wander to Jaesung who smiles a little and nods his head towards the file she's holding, gesturing her to give it to the girl.

"Ah yes," Jiah hands her the file quickly, having her rushing on her feet the very second as she lowkey sprints towards the elevator.

"W-What happened to her? She looks kinda in a hurry..."

"She's Isa," Jaesung sighs, taking his seat again, having sympathetic eyes staring at the girl who awaits the elevator impatiently, "the CEO's secretary. She joined three years ago, as what I've heard, but still hasn't learned to keep up with her job. Also the man is scary."

A sigh of sympathy works out from Jiah's lips too, shaking her ahead at the girl's clumsy and sophisticated stance. The elevator door slides close and she disappears behind it, leaving Jiah and Jaesung to continue focus on their work.

Time flies by and it was after their lunch break that Jiah answered a call on the black telephone near her, hearing a command to get a file to the CEO's office right now. Jaesung did show his sweet side and helped her finding the desired brown file with new deals' documents and contracts as he told her, making her job a little easier just in case the cold man asks something.

"Twenty-fifth floor, right down the hall. There's no other office near Mr Park's."

That is the way Jaesung directed her, and just as told she follows the instructions, stopping in front of a semi-opaque glass door having a black nameplate with golden borders, reading CEO, PARK JIMIN.

Glancing at the file in her left hand, she raises the right one, forming into a light fist, almost knocking at the door. However stops on seeing the door opening on it's own and the owner himself is standing in front of her. His eyes staring down at her, eyebrows arching in a questioning manner which has Jiah staring back at him for a moment before realisation hits her and she's hasty in her movements, bowing down to him.

"Good afternoon, sir."

"Hmm" He nods briefly, looking ahead while his hands are shoved in his pockets, "What are you doing here?"

"Oh uhm I was told to bring this," Jiah answers, showing him the file which has Jimin frowning a little as he takes it and glances through the pages.

"You were told to bring this?"

"Yes sir. Did I uh bring the wrong-"

"No, come in." Jiah stares at his figure, gesturing her to come in. Perplexed a little, she says nothing and follows him in, looking around the big office which has a huge book shelf on one of the walls, a big desk with a black executive chair behind it and a plaque having Jimin's post and name imprinted with golden letters. Golden indeed. On the front of the office stands a huge glass wall, lighting up the place with natural light and also providing the eyecatching view of Seoul city with Han river flowing in it's heart, the Lotte World Tower and the main stadium visible.

"Back to earth woman." Jimin's voice makes the girl flinch. She takes a second to to register his words and shoots him a confused glance.

"Park Jiah is my name." Jimin tilts his head at an angle, not letting his amused expression take over and stays hidden behind a well sculpted face.

"Miss Jiah," He emphasises, "take the phone and call for Secretary Isa."

"Huh?" Jiah stares at him in confusion.

"Any problem there?"

"Uh no," She takes the phone, hesitantly not knowing what number to dial. Jimin sighs and from behind, leaning forward pressing the side button. Jiah glances at him and brings the receiver close to her ear, "Uh Miss Isa? ...ah yes, Mr Park wants to see you in his office. Yes please be here as soon-"

"Right now" Jimin cuts her off, nodding towards the phone.

"Please be here right now." She says and hangs up, "...done," her voice is hesitant as she looks at the boss.

A knock persists on the door, Jimin commands the person to come in, knowing it must be Isa, his secretary. With a nervous look the girl enters, glancing at Jimin and then at Jiah. She bows to both of them and steps forward, standing in front of the boss.

"Miss Isa, I'm sure you're the one who is my secretary am I right?" He asks, standing straight as he looks at her with a monotonous gaze, making the girl shudder, "Well, not anymore. I'm sure you have more important work than being working here. Your pay check will be given to you today. You may leave."

"Wh-What?" Jiah frowns at the man, mirroring the confusion as Isa uttered. Jimin raises an eyebrow. "I'm sorry sir, but what did I-"

"I said you may leave, Miss Isa." He repeats a bit more firmly this time, gesturing towards the door, making Isa break into a sob standing in front of him.

"Mr Park, you cannot do tha-"

"Oh really?" He cocks his head at Jiah, making her look down quietly. His eyes turn to look at Isa who gets the message and leaves at once.

Jimin cracks his neck and sighs, glancing at the other girl still present before him, "Are you going to keep standing here, Miss Jiah?"

Jiah looks at him and bows, "You shouldn't fire someone just like that Mr Park." She mumbles and leaves not saying anything anymore, having Jimin staring at her back as she pulls the door open and exits.

"Miss Jiah, right," He mumbles, nodding his head slowly.
