Third person pov
Taehyung was ten years old when he understood that his mom was hiding something from him.
He had spent ten whole years of his childhood in a stupid room which he wasn't allowed to leave even once.
Why would a mom ask her son to stay locked up in a room and not give him the freedom to even make friends?
He was always scared, lonely and sad because he was alone most of the time. He had no one to talk to, one to share his fears with.
He wondered why his mom flinched every time he asked her why he had a dirty brown-black wolf mark on his chest.
It couldn't be a birthmark. There were no chances of that happening because it wasn't possible for a birthmark to be a properly detailed wolf.
Why does she cry every time he begged her to let him leave the room and give him atleast the rights that he deserved to have?
She was always speechless when he asked her why the other kids were allowed to leave the house and play on the roads, laughing and screaming while he had to stay in a room.
Whenever he saw his own self in the mirror he would feel like his body didn't belong to him because his whole life he wasn't allowed to do what he desired.
The thought of his body not being his terrified him.
But more than any other feeling, he felt lonely. So so lonely because he knew only one person who chose to hide many things from him.
Eunae didn't spend much time with him because she had to go to work. She worked as a maid in someone's house to earn enough money for affording Doyun's drinks.
She would come to meet him once in the morning, giving him breakfast and a tiffin which had his lunch and dinner, then she would leave for work.
She would come back from work after he had already fallen asleep.
He had so many hours but nothing to do except for sitting and wondering if his life would be better if he was born as a higher-ranked.
He grew more and more despondent as days passed by.
He had read so many books about friends and how they help each other with problems and have fun with each other.
He wanted one. He wanted to know what it feels like to have a person you can share everything with.
To tell the person that he felt lonely and sad. To have someone hold him, hug him, laugh with him and cry with him.
He wanted a friend.
He still cried to sleep, but now it wasn't because of the fear of stupid ghosts but it was because of the imaginary chains which were wrapped around his body, holding him back from doing the thing he wanted to do.
The chains were now clenching around his body, suffocating him.
It hurt so bad. He wanted to be free.
He had never seen his dad even once because Doyun had never once visited him. He would sometimes hear his father telling Jaewon that he was proud of him.
Why are you not proud of me? Why am I not worthy of your love? Does my rank make me unlovable? That is what he always thought.
He was here, snuggled up in his cold bed, shivering and crying silently as he felt terribly lonely again.
He had just woken up from a beautiful dream of being with a friend and playing the whole day in a garden.
It was a beautiful dream but he was still crying because he knew that it was just a stupid dream. The dream couldn't ever come true.
His mind kept torturing him. He saw the window of his room-- only a little effort would be required to jump out of the room and he would be free from this hell-- but was running away worth it? Would it be worth it to go against his mom?
And his innocent self answered his own questions with a 'no'.
He thought that hurting his mother would be the worst thing for him to do.
But he himself was breaking.
Matie... Where are you? Will you save me? I need you.
He sobbed as he thought about his mate. He didn't even know who it was yet he loved his mate wholeheartedly.
His mate was his only hope left.
He remembers the time when his mom had told him about mates and had given him the hope that his prince will come and save him from this place.
He knew that it will be his mate who will make him happy, who will take him far away from this cruel life, keep him safe in his embrace and never let him feel lonely.
It wasn't even a doubt or a wish-- he knew that all of it was going to be true.
The soft rays of the rising sun entered his room through the window.
He extended his arm out of the blanket to feel the slant rays of the sun which barely gave him any warmth.
He got out of the bed and switched on the lights-- giving up on the idea of sleeping as the only thing he felt when sleeping was loneliness.
He walked to the shelf which was filled with books-- most of them were stories of mates.
He had a few books which he read many times but still couldn't get tired of it, but whenever he came across a book in which one of the mates suffers because of the other or because the person's mate didn't love him back-- he would immediately stop reading the book, not completing it.
He didn't like such books. He believed that a person should only love their mate and not give them pain.
He knew that his mate will be the one who will cherish and love him.
He sat down on the ground, beginning to read a book which he has read many times before.
He didn't know how long it had been since he had started reading but he didn't care.
It was not like he had anything else to do anyway.
But suddenly he heard a clank from the window of his room. He flinches and looked up with wide, scared eyes.
Who is it?
He quickly ran to his bed and buried himself below the blankets.
Is it a burglar? A murderer? he asks himself and shuddered in fear.
A while later, when he didn't hear any noise, he peeked out of his blanket, finding no one in the room.
He carefully pushed his blanket away, still scanning the room to find out what caused that sound from earlier.
He nearly screamed in shock when he sees someone out of his window.
His wide eyes looked at the person who was also squinting his own, trying to look into his room. The boy was pressing his face against the window to look in.
Taehyung then realized that he could see the boy clearly but the other couldn't.
Who is he? He asks himself and frowns as his heart told him to go ahead and try to speak to the person.
He couldn't help but feel excited to talk to someone he doesn't even know.
He walked forward confidently and unlocked the window. The person flinched and took a small step back.
He opened the window, smiling softly and shyly at the boy while looking at him with twinkling eyes.
The boy looked back at him with wide eyes, mildly surprised. There were no words exchanged for a moment. The boy only stared at him, mesmerized.
"O-oh... um, I'm sorry...I was just--" the boy stuttered terribly but grew confused when Taehyung smiled widely at him.
"It's okay."
Those words were the first thing Taehyung had said to someone who wasn't from his family.
The boy smiled, the sides of his eyes crinkling and his eyes turning into crescents.
"Hi! I'm Park Jimin. Who are you?" He introduced himself and then asked.
His question filled Taehyung's heart with extreme happiness because this was the first time he was going to introduce himself to somebody.
He smiled the widest box smile, confusing Jimin as to why he was so happy.
"I'm Kim Taehyung!"
Jimin smiled at him and muttered, "You have a name which is as cute as you are"
Taehyung grins in response, blushing softly.
"If you're wondering why I was acting like a creep and looking into your room... then let me explain. I was just hungry and I'm sure my mom will kill me if I ask her to make my food at seven in the morning, so I was going to buy something for myself from a shop, but I saw light from your room and got curious."
Taehyung nods, in thought and then chuckles when he heard Jimin's stomach grumbling.
Jimin rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed.
"I've never seen you here before... you don't seem like a person who gets out of this house usually. I mean I've seen Jaewon who lives here but not you," Jimin says curiously, but when he noticed the way Taehyung's face fell, he immediately understood that it was something he didn't want to talk about.
So he changed the topic.
"Forget about that... how old are you?"
"Ten."
"Oh ok... I'm thirteen so I'm your hyung!" Taehyung smiles widely, nodding.
"So we're friends?" Jimin asks expectantly but frowns when he sees Taehyung looking at him in shock, wide-eyed.
He panicked when he saw tears fill his eyes.
"W-wha--"
"Friends?" Taehyung asks in disbelief.
"I mean... You don't have to be my friend if you don't want to" he says carefully as he didn't want to hurt Taehyung. He gasped when Taehyung sobbed out lowly.
He quickly climbed onto the window sill and jumped into the room. He looked at the younger with panic swimming in his black eyes and embraced him, trying to calm him down. He gasped when Taehyung sobbed harder at his actions.
"Why are you crying?" He asks softly.
"I-I always wanted a friend. Wanted someone to c-comfort me when I'm crying," he sobbed into the elder's chest.
Jimin patted his back, inaudibly gasping when he realized what was going on.
"Are you an omega?" He feels the younger nod his head. He sighed, gritting his teeth and holding him tighter, knowing that his stupid uncle was responsible for Taehyung's pain.
He smiled sadly when the omega nuzzled his nose on his chest.
They clicked really soon. Taehyung stopped crying after a while and started showing Jimin the toys and books that he has while Jimin only looked at him with adoration and a little guilt.
He realized that the younger doesn't even know why he was in here, locked in the room. He himself knew the reason though.
Jimin was an alpha, the only child of his family but was pampered by everyone.
He and Jungho weren't close but he used to like his uncle a lot but that was before he knew how cruel the man is.
Jimin held Taehyung's hand and caressed the mark which lay right below his collarbones with his other hand which proved his assumptions right. He was sold to the demon wolf.
He and Taehyung played for a long time, smiling, laughing and feeling genuine happiness.
Eunae went closer to her son's room, holding a tray of food in her hand. She gasped when she felt the presence of another person inside.
She peeked into the room in fear, but her heart warmed when she sees her son and the other boy playing.
She smiles happily.
My son managed to make a friend even when being locked up in a room. My beautiful baby.
She looked at the window and realized that the other boy had jumped in.
Deciding to not interrupt their happy moment, she left the boys there who laughed and played.
She kept quiet about Jimin because she knew if Doyun gets to know about their friendship then the only friend that Taehyung ever had will also be gone.
Taehyung swore that he has never laughed like this and hasn't ever felt so happy and contented before.
