"Adonis..." I whispered as his arms wrapped around my waist in a comforting manner.

"Hi," he whispered back with a wide, cute smile on his face. It was a smile that melted something within me.

"Was that you?" I asked.

"What?"

"I just heard my name on the-" My eyes narrowed at him. With a glint of mischief in his eyes, he sucked his lower lip in and hugged me closer. "It was you," I stated.

"You weren't in class today, Miss Powers," he sternly said.

"Is that why you called me? Is that why I am hugged to your chest in a store?"

"Are you complaining right now?" his voice was even sterner and that caused me to look to the side out of shyness. "You still haven't answered my question. Did you do your assignment?"

"Uh... no."

"Why?"

"I forgot?"

Adonis tilted his head slightly so that I had no chance to look somewhere else.

"Really?" he asked and I nodded. "Do you know what happens to students who do not do their assignments?"

"Uh..." The answer was a clear one but my mind strongly warned against letting it out, so I wore a small grin, spread my hands in the air, and gave a light shrug.

He smirked. "Did you have an issue with the assignment your teacher gave you? Was it too hard?"

"I-"

"Do you need some help with it?" That sharp suggestion of intimacy caused my eyes to widen in reaction. "You don't need help? I can teach you a lot of things, Ruby."

As the softness of his voice caressed my ears, one of his fingers traced circles in the mid area of my back causing my breath to shake for some seconds.

Without a word, he hugged my head to his chest so that I could hear what was going on in there.

"Safety is not something I have concerned myself with over the years Ruby. But I am here for you, to protect you, to..." The deep breath he took before continuing didn't escape me. "... to experience something new with you. So, if this is not safe enough, we can always reschedule this tutoring session."

"Kiss me." It came from nowhere but it was what I wanted. As his brows arched, my arms went around his neck, I prepared my feet by tipping my toes and I repeated myself, "Kiss me, Adonis."

And that he did.

With precise caution, he showed me how good it is to have someone to share a kiss with but he never failed to express how eager he was to do something more intense, something hotter.

I communicated to him that it was okay to do more and without breaking off to catch a breath, he swept me off the floor and had my back against the wall in no time.

"I have no idea where to start," he said against my lips when he paused the hot lip lock.

"Why? You are the teacher, you should know," I said while I tried to relax my breathing rate.

"Your words are mean yet warm. In that case..." I let out a small gasp when he made my legs hit the ground. While I tried to maintain a good stance, Adonis found a nice grip on my waist. "... I should give you a hint that would help your assignment."

"What?"

His eyes did the smiling this time, his hands relaxed almost immediately and I felt his touch on the band of my jeans trouser.

"This will be a quick lesson," he said, his eyes trying to communicate how much he wanted that moment to be enjoyed. "We both have plans today, so it will be really quick."

I feasted on how sexy he looked at that moment. Then, as I watched him get down on his knees, something made me shiver and that was not because a window was open.

"I really like you. But sometimes, I keep asking myself if this should be happening. I know it sucks that I have such thoughts but I want you to know that regardless of what happens in the future, I will do my best to make sure that you don't get hurt."

"Is something going on in the gang?"

"Maybe. Maximus Xylem is always cooking up something and I can't possibly know all that he is planning."

"Why is he so bent on you joining the gang again?" I asked the question I always think of whenever Adonis comes to my mind.

His eyes landed on the ground as he said, "He believes I owe him for his brother's death. He believes I killed him."

I know I tried to get used to the fact that Adonis is a gangster or used to be one, but I never imagined him acting like one. So, as I asked the next question, I felt a little frightened of what his response could be. "Did you kill his brother?"

"No."

"Oh, thank goodness."

Adonis chuckled. "That doesn't mean I haven't killed people though."

My small jubilation paused. "Uh?"

"You shouldn't be late to class, Ruby Powers. So..." He pointed towards the door with a small pout on his lips. "... off you go."

"You are so cute."

"I know." He moved closer and planted a quick kiss on my lips. "Go to your class now."

"Will I see you later?" I asked while my legs slowly approached the exit.

"Go to class, Ruby Powers. Or else I'll let you have it," he ordered.

"You will let me have a piece of you? Yes please." My smile turned into a frown when I saw that my words failed to sway him.

I gave up and decided to leave but as I walked past the door, I heard his reply and I am sure I didn't hear him wrong when he said, "I'll let you have all of me, Ruby Powers. All of me."

The smile on my face as I walked to my next class was the widest I have had in a while.

His words do make me feel good.

Sadly, I didn't get to see Adonis after closing hours. And since Abby and Jake were both occupied with something, I had to go home alone.

I was taking a walk in the neighbourhood that was before ours and I had walked quite a distance when I heard firm footsteps behind me.

A quick swerve of my head got me scanning the environment. My eyes narrowed and my senses got to work. But since there was nothing to pick up, I resumed my walk.

Regardless of what I didn't see, I began to move with extra caution. As I walked, I searched my surroundings for potential weapons and that was when I felt a tap on my shoulder. My legs jumped crazily in reaction.

"Chill girl, it's me." I relaxed once Abby's voice sunk into my senses.

I glared at her and said, "I thought you were a stalker."

"Did you sense something?" she asked worriedly.

"Umm, sort of. Why?"

Her hands pocketed, her eyes traced the cemented ground as she said, "I was trying to catch up with you when I noticed this bald man following you. He is the same man I saw at Maddison's memorial, I am sure of it."

That was disturbing to hear.

"Really?"

She nodded. "You need to be careful."

"Thank you. I thought you had something to do in school."

"The meeting with our art teacher was cancelled. Anyway..." Her arm hooked mine and we were soon walking down the pathway. "... tell me all about your boyfriend."

"Are you sure you want to know?" I had my reservations about telling Abby about Adonis but since Jake already knows, it would be better if she knows about it too.

"Of course! What kind of question is that? Which school does he attend?"

"I will let you know when we get home. You are sleeping over, right?"

"Yes, I brought snacks too." She jiggled her bag pack with happiness written on her face.

"Good. We will need ice cream as well." As I thought of what I was about to tell her, I figured we'll need more food. So, I added to the list by saying, "Let's order some fried chicken."
