Chapter 53
Their pace was bumpy and uneven, the rainfall and the weight on his back made it hard for Jungkook to keep his tempo, him not wanting to slip and at the same time, wanting to get home as quickly as possible.
On his back, Taehyung took his advice to heart and clung onto the ravenette's neck for dear life, almost choking him but due to the current state of weather he couldn't afford to slip and fall off.
He forced his eyes shut, wanting to get out of this horrible situation as quickly as possible.
Feeling another growl of thunder slowly emerging, the younger boy gave it his all and picked up his pace. They were almost there now, by now, Jungkook's home was only two blocks away.
"We're there soon," he panted in between two ragged breaths, alerting the older by slightly pinching his thigh and then regaining his posture, Taehyung patting his shoulder softly to tell him that he understood.
And then, after about three minutes, the two of them stood in front of a small but cozy-looking house, little bushes and an elegant white bird bath made out of marble making it look quite fancy.
Trying to regain his breath and clutching his chest, Jungkook set Taehyung onto the ground gently and after taking a look at him for a few seconds, hugged him tightly.
"You're so stupid, Taehyung. So, so stupid. Why would you go outside into the rain like that when you know exactly how much it triggers your memories? What if you fainted again and I wasn't there for you?," he asked worriedly, right before breaking the hug and walking closer towards the front door, stepping on the porch.
"I know it was stupid and dangerous. But I wanted- no, I needed to explain everything to you. So I kinda risked it all, I just didn't want you to be mad at me," the brunette admitted with a small voice, his eyes widening as he felt his chin lifted up and the other's dark eyes gaze into his own.
"Oh, believe me. I'm extremely mad at you," Jungkook whispered lowly.
"So fucking mad at you I could kick a damn puppy. Or punch a wall, you get my point. For kissing Jimin, and breaking my heart. For confusing me all over again. And putting yourself in danger for me. But I also know you didn't have a choice, I don't have any right to get mad at you but my emotions are complicated. Sorry."
"You have every right to be mad at me, actually. And yet you still brought me home with you, thank you so, so much for that. You really didn't have to, but you did!" A slight smile made its way on Taehyung's face.
"Don't be silly, of course I had to. You wouldn't be out in the rain if I hadn't run away like that. And--"
All of a sudden, the low, threatening sound of another crash of thunder made them shudder, Taehyung's eyes filling with tears again.
"Oh shit. No, no, no," the ravenette cursed, now realizing they were still standing on the porch and ringing the house's doorbell like a maniac while searching his pockets for clearly non-existent keys.
"Come on, Hyung. Wake the hell up," he mumbled desperately while wrapping an arm around the frightened boy's waist and pulling him closer.
"I told you to bring keys, Jungkook, why would you never listen to me--
Oh my god, Taehyung?! What the hell were you two doing, you're drenched from top to bottom!"
All of a sudden, a broad-shouldered man, clad in pink silk pyjamas and pink slippers, an also pink sleeping mask hanging somewhere in his disheveled black hair.
"It's a long story, Hyung. Can he stay here? He's scared of storms," Jungkook asked impatiently, his free hand grabbing for Taehyung's hand to squeeze it and comfort him.
"Oh dear, of course, of course. Come in and let's get you warmed up." Completely neglecting his cousin, Seokjin threw an arm around the shivering brunette's shoulders and led him inside gently.
"Close the door behind you and change into some warm clothes. And bring some for him, too!," he ordered to the ravenette who was now entering the house, also freezing.
Without a word, Jungkook made his way inside his room to get some towels and warm clothes to change into. Taking off his dripping clothes, he quickly dried himself with a towel and threw on a random hoodie with some jogging pants, then walking inside the living room with another set of clothes, towels and blankets for Taehyung.
"Tae? Change your clothes before you catch a cold or something. You can go into the bathroom if you want, it's right over there." He nudged the brunette, who was currently sitting by the living room's little fireplace with Seokjin still having his arm around his shoulders and pointed down the hall.
And of course, he didn't let Taehyung go alone, he made sure to guide him through the house while holding his hand, he also ruffled the older boy's wet hair before he disappeared into the bathroom, his anger from before absolutely forgotten.
And when the brunette exited the bathroom again, Jungkook had to try hard not to coo at how adorable he looked wearing the ravenette's oversized clothes, the fluffy hoodie completely engulfing him and the sleeves hanging down by at least a few inches.
"You look cute wearing my clothes," he couldn't help but remark, Taehyung slightly blushing at that.
"Thank you, you look cute too," he answered quietly, now both of them walking back into the living room to explain their situation to Seokjin, the handsome man just exiting the kitchen with two steaming mugs occupying his hands and letting out a breath of relief.
"Finally. This is hot chocolate, to warm you up. And will someone please explain what's going on here? Jungkook, why were you and your lover boy drenched in rain water?," he asked with his hands on his hips and an examining look on his face.
Both boys blushed deeply as he said the word "lover boy".
"W-We were both at the same party and, well, we had... a fight. I ran out on him while it was raining and he followed me to... talk it out? And, well, eventually, we were too far away to go back there and it was dark and muddy and he got scared, so I brought him back here," Jungkook told him, half lying.
"Hold up, didn't you say he was scared of storms? And you still ran out on him and let him follow you? You can be so irresponsible sometimes! You know what, you will sleep on the couch tonight and give Taehyung your bed! Here... drink, sweetie," Seokjin scolded but then cooed at Taehyung, passing the hot chocolate mug into the brunette's huge sweater paws. As if that weren't enough, he also draped him into a thick blanket lovingly.
Seeing him bow his head at Seokjin shyly before sipping at his mug, Jungkook wanted to coo again.
"Of course I'll take the couch, I have no problem with that. Now give me the chocolate, Hyung, I'm cold as fuck!," he grumbled, reaching for the second mug and feeling the older's glare on him.
"What did I tell you about cursing inside this house, you brat? Jesus, what am I gonna do with you?... Anyways, when you two are done drinking up, please get to bed, it's very late. Good night, Taehyungie. Have sweet dreams." Ruffling Taehyung's now much drier hair, Seokjin departed with a sweet smile towards him and his typical scolding face towards Jungkook.
"Seokjin-Hyung gets pissed at me a lot, well, he does have a reason to," the ravenette explained, slightly laughing.
"Come on, I'll show you where my bedroom is. Sorry in advance, by the way. It's a bit messy."
Taehyung waved him off, now having finished his entire mug of hot chocolate and now feeling much warmer and cozier.
"You don't have to sleep on the couch, you know? I could take it, or we could... share the bed," he suddenly said, his cheeks slightly reddening at the imagination of him and the younger boy sharing a bed.
"O-Oh," Jungkook muttered, his cheeks also turning red, and it was not the fireplace nor was it the hot chocolate.
"I-I mean, it could keep storming all night? And raindrops can be pretty loud on our roof, so m-maybe it'd be best if I..." He broke off mid-sentence to find the right words but Taehyung already nodded with a little smile.
"Yes, sounds good. Thank you for everything, and your cousin aswell."
Jungkook smiled too while nodding, now leading him towards his bedroom.
The first thing Taehyung noticed inside the ravenette's bedroom were several photos of a little boy doing various things: playing soccer, playing beach volleyball, posing in front of various monuments and one that particularly stuck out to him, the little boy carrying a school bag and wearing a school uniform. There were a man and a woman standing next to him, holding his hands.
"Yeah, that was me on my first day of school," Jungkook explained, an embarrassed look on his face.
Taehyung just beamed, finding the picture extremely endearing.
"Are those your parents?"
The ravenette nodded.
"The only day they actually got along with each other."
Taehyung had always known that Jungkook was breathtakingly handsome but now he knew why.
He had extremely lucky genes.
Jungkook's father looked just as handsome as him. The dark, perfectly shaped eyebrows, the sharp jaw, the high nose and the messy raven hair, they all resembled him. Just his aura seemed different. A bit darker, perhaps.
Jungkook's mother was an extraordinarily beautiful woman. Resemblance could be seen here aswell, she had the same round eyes with the endearing twinkle inside them, just like her son. Jungkook had also inherited his soft lips and his bunny-like front teeth from his mother, Taehyung realized. Even her aura sort of resembled him: mysterious on the first glance, yet warm and comforting.
"You have your mother's eyes," he spoke softly, still gazing at the picture.
"And her smile. Apart from that, you look just like your father..."
Jungkook blushed at the fact that the other boy actually cared about where he got his features from.
"Yeah... guess I do," he said, smiling sheepishly.
"Shit, it two AM already. Let's go to sleep now, okay? You can look at my baby pictures tomorrow morning." He grabbed the brunette's wrist, dragging him towards his bed.
The bed was medium-sized with navy-blue covers and a little nightstand next to it. They would probably have to squeeze to fit inside comfortably but somehow, neither of the two boys seemed to mind.
Jungkook insisted on tucking Taehyung in first, making sure his whole body was covered by the warm blanket. Feeling his throat slightly clog, he hoped that no one would be sick tomorrow.
When he got into the bed next, he realized that they wouldn't be able to sleep in there without making physical contact. Internally, he prayed that Taehyung wouldn't have a problem with that.
But as he felt the brunette move closer and hug his torso tightly, he knew he did not have any problem with that.
"I like hugging things when I sleep, hope you don't mind," the older boy mumbled, his head leaning against Jungkook's chest, his voice coming out as slightly muffled.
His heart feeling warm, warmer than ever, the ravenette smiled.
"I don't," he just whispered.
"Because I do too." He then wrapped his arms around Taehyung aswell, holding him closer to him.
And just like that, they cleared their minds and drifted off into the far away world of sleep, little snores and heavy breaths filling the room in no time.
