Chapter 20

"Mom, can you drive faster? Auntie will be waiting and I don't want her to be late for her appointment," a brunette boy fussed, his voice sounding a tad hectic.

"Yeah, mom. I'll be late for my tournament and I don't want to get scolded!," an also brunette girl exclaimed, fixing the baseball cap on her head while checking herself out in the rear view mirror.

"Taeha, your tournament is in the afternoon, stop lying. You're going earlier just to spend time with that girl!," Taehyung snapped, his sister slapping his arm rather harshly, a fierce blaze in her eyes.

"What?! That's totally not true!," she snapped back.
"What am I hearing? You're meeting someone, Taeha?," they could hear their mother ask from the driver's seat.

"Yeah, she keeps making up excuses and makes me do the chores while she's out there meeting some weird girl!" The brunette rolled his eyes.

"Don't you dare talk shit about my babygirl, Kim Taehyung! Or I'll tell mom about that boy you were dancing with at the party!," the younger girl hissed.

"Kids, kids. Please. I'm shocked at all the things you don't seem to have shared with me, care to elaborate? Anyone?" Mrs. Kim glanced at her rear view mirror to see her kids silently sulking in the back seat. She chuckled.

"He forced me to dance with him," Taehyung mumbled quietly, the girl beside him scoffed.
"Yeah, sure. Didn't look like that forced to me. You seemed to have a lot of fun."

"Shut up," he ended the discussion.
Somehow, he couldn't ignore the fact that his sister was somehow right, he did have a lot of fun, eventually. He was just too embarrassed to admit it.

Luckily, they reached Hyejin's driveway just around that time, Taehyung grabbing his bag and opening the car door.
"Goodbye, baby bro!," he heard his sister yell and smile brightly, smiling a forced smile back and waving her and their mother goodbye.

As he rang the doorbell, he remembered that Hyejin actually must've found a companion for him, so that he wouldn't have to do the whole work by himself.

He felt a bit uneasy as he was pretty shy around new people, he feared this day to be terribly awkward.
But when his aunt opened the front door and led him inside after greeting him with a warm smile, his mind changed instantly.

"Thanks for doing this, Taehyung. You'll get your payment when I get back. Oh, and my other helper is in the living room, go over and say hi. I need to go now, bye bye!," Hyejin spoke rather hastily, sending a flying kiss to the brunette and leaving the house rapidly.

Not expecting much, the boy walked over to the living room and mentally prepared for an awkward conversation when he saw Jeon Jungkook sitting on the sofa and almost jumped back in surprise.

"What the hell?! What are you doing here?!," he screeched, an amused grin appearing on the younger's face.

"Seokjin-Hyung wanted me to help here since your aunt needed some cleaning around the house, she really seems to like and trust me. At first, I wanted to reject but then I realized you would be here aswell and changed my mind very quickly. Getting paid for spending time with you? Like, sign me the hell up." Jungkook's face lit up as he saw Taehyung's face relax.

"Okay, whatever. Help me find Yeontan, we need to feed him. The rascal's too hungry for his own good." The ravenette widened his eyes and parted his lips in shock.
"W-We? I'm going nowhere near that... creature!"

"Yeontan is the sweetest little fluffball, I can't believe you're scared of him. Why are you so freaky about dogs, anyway?," the brunette asked while taking a seat next to him.

Jungkook inhaled. "Long story."
"We have plenty of time," Taehyung spoke, taking off his cardigan and folding it neatly onto the couch. The ravenette then shrugged, slightly nodding and definetely not watching the boy opposite of him dusting off his plain white shirt which made him look like a little angel.

"Uh... I once visited my mother when I was like, seven years old. She had a dog in her front yard, a big one. Innocent, little me wanted to feed him some meat and it was so excited, it got all passive aggressive and bit my leg.
It hurt a lot. Ever since, I've hated dogs like shit, freaking out is kind of an instinct whenever I see 'em." The older, who was listening attentively, nodded understandingly.

"Awwh, I'm sorry that happened to you, Jungkook. Dogs are actually the cutest little things ever, you just have to be friendly and patient with them.
I've loved Yeontan ever since I was born, he's just such a good dog. I got so excited every time I visited my aunt's. Sometimes I wanted him to be human so he could be my kid, or my future husband. No idea how I came to that idea," the older spoke dreamily, remembering his endearing childhood memories.

"Well, there's no need for those hopes anymore. I can be your future husband instead," Jungkook remarked cheekily with a little wink, his vulnerable demeanour had suddenly disappeared completely which baffled Taehyung.

"Hah, funny. Help me find and feed him and I may consider your offer," the brunette said while standing up, immediately regretting these words and blushing in embarrassment.

"Ughh, fine. I'm gonna try this only for you, Kim Taehyung," the younger whined, also getting up and looking around him alarmed. "You'll really take my offer though, right?"

"Calm down, it's not very likely for him to hang around the living room. it's sunny outside so he's probably strolling around in the garden. And no, it was a joke!" He walked towards the back door, gesturing the other to follow him. Jungkook did as he was told, sulking.

Ignoring the younger boy's protests, he sneaked around the garden and knelt down on the floor to take a closer look between the flower pots.
"Would you mind helping me find him? He must be hiding somewhere." He turned towards the younger.

Jungkook blushed deeply when he saw the other kneeling in front of him and looking up to him, quietly stuttering a small "fine".

"Ohh, no need. There he is. Tannie! My baby!" Taehyung squealed uncontrollably as he grabbed the Pomeranian by his belly and held him close to his chest while giving him belly rubs and making some kissy faces. He was now pretty much rolling around on the floor, cuddling the little dog.

The ravenette did not know how to feel about this.

On one hand, seeing his favourite boy speak so endearingly while smiling his beautiful smile made his heart flutter uncontrollably. Without even realizing, he smiled a fond smile.

But on the other hand, he wanted to be the one to receive Taehyung's love, he definetely did not enjoy the other showing so much love to some dog.
Oh god.

Was he jealous of a dog?

He probably was.

The brunette stood up from the ground, still holding Yeontan in his slender hands, and walked over to Jungkook who immediately took a step back as he saw the devilish creature.

"We're going to feed him now. You better man up and be sweet to him or... I'll never be your friend. And don't be scared, I'll be there and I can assure you Tannie is the kindest doggo in the world!" He walked past him, towards the living room.

"It's not like I wanna be your friend, I wanna be your boyfriend. Husband's fine, too," the younger grumbled while walking in behind him hesitantly.

"What was that?" Jungkook immediately shut his mouth as his ears reddened. "N-Nothing."

He got the dog food out of the kitchen as the older boy ordered and poured it into the neon pink dog bowl, the material clinking loudly on the steel and making the dog lift its head.

Taehyung set him onto the floor, still holding on to him, and gestured Jungkook to push the bowl further towards him, the ravenette narrowing his eyes as he made his first attempt with shaky hands and a pounding heart.

Jesus Christ, Kim Taehyung. The things you make me do.

If it were anyone else who told me to feed a goddamn dog I would've either left or beat them up and left.

But I guess I have a soft spot for you. A dangerously soft spot.
Hell, I would swim to New fucking Zealand for you. Or climb the whole Mount Everest, in a day.
You get my point.

Jungkook was relieved to say that his attempt was a huge success and the Pomeranian ate his food delightfully. He jerked back immediately as he saw the excited little Pomeranian.
"Awwh, good boy," the brunette cooed while patting Yeontan's head.

"Was that meant for me or for him?"
Taehyung rolled his eyes but then laughed shortly. "For him, duh. But I have to admit, you did a pretty good job aswell. Facing your fears is hard and you need a lot of courage for every little baby step to get over it, I'm kinda proud of you." He smiled a little.

Jungkook hummed satisfied.
"What's your biggest fear?," he suddenly asked, catching the brunette off guard.

"Uhh... I don't know, to be honest. Not that important, anyways. Let's hurry, we still have a house to clean."
Despite having the feeling that Taehyung was hiding something, the younger nodded and decided to drop it.

After a while of comfortable silence with nothing but Yeontan's cute munching filling the air, Taehyung carried away the empty bowl and shooed the fluffy dog outside again after another intensive cuddle session.

"So, on to our other task. Let's get to the cleaning now."
