Chapter 16

Side to side, both boys walked comfortably but also slightly awkwardly, their destination being Taehyung's bus stop.

Jungkook couldn't help but check up on him every few seconds since he was still extremely concerned.
You don't see your crush having a panic attack every day, do you?

The situation kept replaying over and over in Jungkook's head.

He got a text message.
He unlocked his phone.
He read the message.
Something about that message seemed to trigger something inside him.
But what could it be?
Who sent him the text message and what was in it?

He could hear the beautiful boy sigh next to him. "Are you still worrying about me, Jungkook?"
With a caring twinkle in his dark orbs, the younger eyed Taehyung from head to toe, checking if he showed any signs of being in pain physically or mentally.
Luckily, there were none.

"And what if I am?" The older groaned, trying to sound annoyed even though in reality, he did appreciate Jungkook's concern. Just a little bit, of course.
"No need to worry. I'm fine, this was just a little... slip, I guess."

Jungkook frowned.
"Didn't seem like just a little slip to me. Is someone trying to hurt you? You don't need to tell me anything, just know that I--"
The brunette halted in his step and held his shoulder.

"I appreciate your concern, I really do. But there are some things I'd rather not tell. And also, will you stop acting like some kind of rescuer, please? I'm not a damsel in distress who's waiting for my knight in shining armour to help me." He rolled his eyes, making the ravenette laugh nervously.

"Too bad. I wouldn't mind being your knight in shining armour," he remarked cheekily, making Taehyung roll his eyes, even though his lips couldn't help but show a small smile.

"We're at the bus stop now. You're free to leave," he spoke as they arrived at a small, kind of abandoned-looking bus stop, the paint already peeling off the metal and making it look shabby.

"Nuh-uh. What if something happens to you while you're waiting for the bus? I can't take that risk."
Taehyung half-laughed, half-scoffed.
"Your logic doesn't make any sense, what if something happens to me when I'm sitting inside the bus?"

"Good point, I should take the bus with you and accompany you all the way to your front door," Jungkook remarked smugly.
The brunette groaned.

"Seriously? Why are you acting like a legal guardian? You're not my dad."
Suddenly, a dirty smirked appeared on the younger's face.

"I may not be your dad, but I can be your--" He got interrupted by a very distraught Taehyung who slapped his hand in front of his mouth.
"Don't you dare finish that sentence."

"I wanted to say 'protective boyfriend' but whatever, I guess," Jungkook's voice came out as muffled through the other's palm still pressing against his mouth.
Before the older could respond, Jungkook kept on talking, or trying to talk.

"You know, I don't really mind having my airways blocked by you but your hand is kind of making it impossible to breathe, so would you mind...?"
Despite his voice not coming out as understandable as the ravenette wanted it to be, Taehyung widened his eyes and instantly removed his hand from the other's mouth, alarmed.

"Oh god, I'm so sorry!" He wiped his kind of-damp hand on the fabric on his trousers, turning slightly pink out of embarrassment.
"Aw, angel. It's fine." Taehyung looked up shocked after hearing that nickname.
Angel? Jesus Christ, how many damn nicknames has he called me by now?

And all of a sudden, they could hear the distant rumble of a large vehicle, a bue. Disappointment instantly filled Jungkook's body since he wanted to spend way more time with Taehyung.

"Oh, that's my bus now." The ravenette pouted.
"Are you sure you're okay by yourself? I wouldn't mind taking the bus with you..."

The older giggled slightly.
"I told you, didn't I? I'll be fine by myself, nothing even happened."
To be completely honest, Jungkook was still a bit worried. He didn't even know why, Taehyung was someone to take care of himself. Yet there was this sudden rush of protectiveness that got unleashed every time Jungkook thought of the other boy.

Was he going insane?

No, he was just in love.

Well, maybe not completely, but close enough.

The younger just sighed. "Take care, angel. So, well... Do I get that goodbye hug now?" Once again, Taehyung giggled.
"Not yet. We're still not friends. But you can have... a handshake, I guess."

He reached out his beautiful hand for the other to shake, the latter immediately complying, of course, and both of them had to admit, they felt something rush through them when their hands touched.

Something like electricity. Something that made both of them freeze and hold their breaths for a second.
It was truly bizarre and it confused the both of them.

Neither of them dared to look into the other's eyes, instead, they stared onto the floor with wide eyes.
What exactly was happening?

And then, they both flinched when the bus arrived with a loud bump and the doors automatically opened with an unpleasant hiss.

"See you, then."
With a small smile, Taehyung turned around and rushed into the bus, bowing politely at the driver, the middle-aged man nodding at him.

Jungkook could see him check in his traffic card and choose a seat just beside the window.
"See you," he mumbled back, smiling brightly as he took in the adorable sight of the older forcing his traffic card back into his wallet.

Kim Taehyung truly was someone who could make the most unsignificant and trivial things turn into the most interesting thing on the planet, simply by being so darn adorable. At least, that's what Jungkook thought.

As soon as he had everything sorted, the brunette let himself plop into the seat he had saved for himself.
And as he instinctively looked outside the window, he could see Jeon Jungkook still standing on the sideway with that cute smile of his displayed on his handsome face.

Also beginning to smile, Taehyung lifted his hand and waved at him, the other immediately mirroring his actions and waving back, swinging his arm back and forth.

He's really not that bad. I actually quite enjoyed spending time with him. If only he didn't flirt with me so much, Taehyung thought.
The both of them kept waving at each other until the bus' engine started revving and the distance between them gradually increased.

While Taehyung plugged in his earphones and selected some music that suited his surprisingly uplifted mood, Jungkook kept smiling like an idiot.

He smiled at me. He shook my hand. He waved at me. He appreciated my concern.
Is this really coming true? Is my dream boy finally coming around and accepting my feelings?

Don't be delusional, Jungkook! He's just being polite. But... at least he's warming up to me?
Gosh, I like him so much. Jesus, save me.

Jungkook pulled out his phone and went through his messages. People really had a lot to say to him.

Kim suck Jen🤪
So, how'd your meeting go?
You told me you guys made up
Are you friends now?
And remember what I said, don't make him feel uncomfortable, no matter how much you like him!!

Min Yoongay😴🎧
So, Kim Taehyung?
I hope he wasn't being the annoying brat that he usually is but I still hope you had fun.
If you guys ever marry each other, just know that I won't be your kid's godfather.
Woah, that was random.
Anyways, I hope your little date was satisfactory.

NamuJoon😊🌳
Hey Jungkook
So, how was your study session?
Did you make any 'progress'?
Well, I hope you guys had a great time and you learned something aswell.
Tell me everything lol

Reading through all of his messages happily, Jungkook laughed. He loved how many people apart from himself were rooting for him and Taehyung.

He was surprisingly very dedicated.
Very dedicated to win Kim Taehyung's heart.
