Even after all these years,

whenever I think about you I cry.

I wonder why it is that, whenever I remember you, I suddenly have tears in my eyes.

You're that one person who I felt truly understood me.

You were the shield I hid behind during rough times,

and when I stood under your shadow, you became the sky.

So far, yet so close, but always so high.

But in dark times, you were the light;

as blinding as the sun,

as bright as the sky,

you lit up the darkness & showed me the magnificent world at night.

Hearing you tell stories, I always lose track of time,

it's as if I had always closed my eyes, and now I've just opened them for the very first time.

Like whenever we have conversations,

It's always something new.

Warping me in & out of portals,

venturing new aspects, I never knew.

But, you always leave my questions unanswered;

resulting into my, ifs, buts & whys.

I just can't help it, nor can I help the salty tears that fall from my eyes.

Because whenever I think of you, the best memories of my life repeat themselves in my worn out mind,

To a time in which, my longing heart still resides.

I had long ago, left it behind.

Accepting that, it belonged in the years that held the most smiles.

Oh, how I wish I could turn back time.
