From crawling,

to falling,

attempting to start walking.

It did not happen overnight,

His parents held him tight.

Their precious little boy,

they bought him a lot of brand new toys.

His mother stayed up all night,

when he was sick and would cry,

giving no time for her to rest,

but she didn't want him to die,

so she sacrificed sleep,

just for him to close his eyes.

His father would work late night shifts,

they did not own a car,

but he would never quit.

In this one room apartment they could afford.

They had no more than a bed and a wardrobe

He worked hard to bring food to the table,

he worked even when he wasn't fully capable.

He tried his best,

he placed his family above everyone else.

No matter what they said,

their words would not amount to bread,

let alone, a roof above their heads.

So, working hard counting every little drop of sweat.

He knew he would not regret.

Coming home to his lovely wife and son.

This was the highlight of his day,

even long before it began.

These were the people who encouraged him to win.

Bearing the child in her belly for nine months,

the mother was the first to hug.

She still remembers,

looking at his facial features and pointing them out.

Deciphering which one of them he looked more like.

was such a delightful time.

His mother still remembers him.

His father still remembers him.

But, he does not remember them.

And all the sacrifices they made for him.
