vingt-deux
"Mason, come on!" Isaac pounded on the door of the hotel room, an old woman with an ice bucket sending him a dirty look. He gave her an apologetic half smile before knocking again. "Mason!"
"I'm not even going to bother to open the door, because I know your little werewolf ass can hear me." Masons voice came out low through the wood, Isaac's hands balling in and out of fists. "If you come within thirty feet of my sister I will-"
"Fin." Isaac stood up straighter when he heard Elaine's voice, followed by Mason letting out an annoyed huff of air. Isaac rubbed his hands together nervously as he heard the door unlock, the hinges making a small creaking noise as it opened.
"Elaine, I am so sorry." Isaac started as soon as he small frame was in front of him, his face contorted in shame and worry.
"It's okay." Elaine gave him a small smile, shaking her head. She leaned against the door frame, her ponytail slipping off of her shoulder. "It's not your fault, despite other's opinions."
He could hear Mason slam the mini fridge, muttering something in French that he wasn't familiar with. Curses, probably.
"It's almost midnight." Isaac reaches into his jacket and pulled out his old iPod, headphones wrapped around it. "I just wanted to drop this off, you can keep it. I just put some more music on there, like classical and stuff, the kind you play at the store."
Isaac held it out, Elaine staring at it for a moment before opening the door wider. She nodded back towards the room, her thumb tracing the door knob lightly. "Stay?"
"Of course." Isaac nodded, making her smile grow a little. She stepped back, giving him enough room to slip past her and into the hotel room. Isaac made eye contact with Mason as he shook his jacket off his shoulders, the older brothers jaw clenched.
Before Mason could even threaten Isaac, Elaine raised her eyebrows at him and crossed her arms.
"I wanted to let you know that I'm staying until Deaton figures everything out. And if you want to leave early, go ahead. Because this is my life, and my decision and you have no control over me no matter how much I love you."
Isaac and Mason both looked at the tiny girl in shock, her chin up as her glared at her brother confidently. His jaw loosened, his cold eyes looking down at the floor as he exhaled through his nose.
"Fine." Mason sighed, reaching over and grabbing the keys to his rental car off of the tv stand. "But I'm gonna go, because getting lost in a random town that I know nothing about is ten times better than watching you two sit across the room from one another and stare at each other awkwardly."
Isaac's lips parted slightly, Elaine's confident demeanor falling as her cheeks turned a bright shade of red. Mason walked past both of them, the two teens frozen in place as they heard the door open and slam.

Isaac's stomach twisted into knots as he watched tears slip down Elaine's cheeks, her hands clutching one of the pillows.
She squeezed her eyes shut, taking a shaky breath and burying her face into the stiff and crappy hotel pillow.
Isaac clinched as she suddenly threw the pillow across the room, yanking the ear buds out of her ears. He stood up out of the chair he had been sitting in for the past four hours, his anxiety through the roof. "Do you want me to get you water?"
"Hold me." Elaine whispered, making his head snap up to look at her. Before he could ask her to clarify, she looked up at him with red ringed eyes. "Hold me, please."
"But what about-"
"I'm surrounded by ghosts anyways, and all I want right now is for you to hold me." Her voice cracked, her whole body sagging with exhaustion.
"Yeah." Isaac nodded, rubbing his sweaty hands on his jeans. He carefully slipped off his shoes, Elaine sliding over to make room. He lifted up the blanket and slid in next to her, looking down at her hesitantly.
Elaine didn't hesitate, resting her head on his chest and wrapping her arms around him tightly. He let his muscles relax, pulling the blanket over them and slowly embracing her.
She sniffed quietly, her fingers curling into his T-shirt and closing her eyes. He rested his chin on top of her head, rubbing circles into her back until her breathing and heart rate slowed down.
It wasn't long until they both fell asleep, Allison watching from the corner of the room. As a ghost she couldn't feel much, but in that moment all she felt was an overwhelming sense of warmth right where her heart rested in her chest.
