Isaac leaned against the doorway into backroom, sneaking a glance at Elaine as he dialed a number into the hanging phone. Lukas would probably complain about a collect call to America, but he could deal with it.
"Hello?"
"Hey," Isaac twisted the cord nervously between his fingers, straightening up slightly. "It's Isaac Lahey."
"I figured as much. I don't get many calls from France." Deaton replied, a few papers shuffling on the other line. "What do you need?"
"I have a friend who's dealing with some problems." He lowered his voice slightly, glancing over at an oblivious Lukas. "Supernatural problems."
"I see." The vet hummed on the other line, letting out a long sigh. "And you want my help, I presume?"
"You're the smartest guy I know when I comes to this stuff, and I promised I'd help her."
"There's a girl?" Deaton smiled knowingly on his end, glad the young boy was moving on. "What kind of help does she need?"
"She sees ghosts." Isaac stated bluntly, wincing slightly afterwards. "If she touches someone, she can see the spirits connected to her. Talk to them, feel their emotions, that sort of thing."
"The issue with that is?" He trailed off, grabbing one of the old books stashed under his desk.
"It overwhelms her." He ran a hand through his hair, taking a deep breath. "She can't interact normally with people, she can't touch them without everything else consuming her."
"And you want a way around it."
"Yeah." Isaac cleared his throat and watched as Elaine kept her head down and talked to Allison, her lips barely moving. "Do you think it's possible?"
"I may be able to dig something up." Deaton replied, but he could sense the hesitation in his voice.
"But?"
"But, I can't really do anything until I've seen the full extent of her abilities."
"What if I can get her there?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "What if I can fly her to Beacon Hills?"
"Then I suppose I could help her."
"Thanks, Doc." Elaine had noticed him now, the girl smiling and sending him a wave. "I'll get back to you, alright? I have to go."
"Keep in touch."
"Hey." Elaine leaned against the counter, drumming her fingers on the smooth surface. "Do you think I could get a refill?"
"Do you really need anymore caffeine?" Isaac chuckled, raising an eyebrow. "You're practically floating today."
"I'm in a good mood." She shrugged, biting down on her bottom lip. "And of really wanna know what we're doing later."
"On our date?"
"It's not a date." Elaine disagreed, shaking her head.
"If you say so." He shrugged, turning around and starting to brew a new pot of coffee.
"I do say so." She crossed her arms, fighting the smile that tugged at her lips. "It's just... hanging out. Two friends, hanging out."
"Got it." He sent her a wink, making her roll her eyes.
