Elaine woke up with a start, her eyes widened in slight panic as she slowly took in her surroundings and remembered where she was.
"You okay?" Isaac's head popped up, his hair tousled and eyes watching her in worry. "Your heartbeat, I-"
"I just forgot where I was for a moment." She shook her head, pushing her hair back. Isaac's eyes didn't leave her, taking in her messy curls and tired eyes. "What?"
"Nothing." He shrugged, scratching his shoulder and looking away. "You wanna get breakfast and head over to Deaton's?"
"Yeah, I just need to shower." She yawned, her last word stretching out as she scrunched up her face.
"There's a bathroom in the hall." Isaac pointed his thumb over his shoulder, the girl giving him a small smile.
Neither of them said a word as she slid out of bed, walking over to her suitcase and picking out her clothes.
"He's watching you, y'know." Allison whispered, a blush spreading across Elaine's face. "Are you blushing?"
"No." She mumbled, hugging her clothes and toothbrush to her chest and walking hurriedly out of the room. She shut the bathroom door behind her and locked it, letting out a deep breath.
"You guys are killing me here, you know that?" Allison whined, placing her hand on her chest. "Just fall in love please."
"You're ridiculous, you know that?" She scoffed, setting down her clothes and going to turn the water on. "I'm not going to-"
Elaine froze when she heard a knock on the door, ending her sentence abruptly.
"Elaine?" Lydia's voice sounded muffled through the door, but it proved that Elaine could be heard through it as well. "Who are you talking to?"
"Um, no one." She scrambled for an excuse, before adding on, her voice nervous. "I was just... practicing my English."
"Oh," Lydia paused, clicking her tongue. "Okay."
Elaine held her breath until she heard Lydia walk away, Allison letting out a little laugh.
"That was such a lame excuse, you really couldn't have came up with anything else?" Allison teased, making Elaine groan and rub her face.
This really was going to be a long trip.

"Why am I sitting the backseat?" Elaine asked, stifling a yawn as she scratched the back of her hand.
"Because you're the youngest." Mason shot back from the passenger seat, which he practically shoved her away from. He had also made her sit on his side of the table at breakfast and complained about her and Isaac staying in the same room, saying that she should stay at the hotel with him.
"Technically, she's older than me." Isaac butt in, glancing at her in the rearview mirror. Mason glared at him for a moment before shaking his head and grumbling to himself. "Would you look at that, we're here."
Both the boys got out of the car before Elaine, immediately moving to open both doors on either side of her. Mason squinted at Isaac over his sister's head, who let out an awkward and nervous laugh.
They both looked at her expectantly, almost challenging her to choose a side. So, she did what anyone else would.
She crawled to the front seat and opened her own door, sliding out and shutting the door. Without a second glance at her brother and her friend, she walked to the entrance of the veterinary clinic.
Mason and Isaac looked at each other, slightly baffled, before shutting the doors and following her.
Elaine rang the little bell on the counter, trying to ignore the boys' bickering as they both tried to shove through the door at the same time. After a few moment, a man with a comforting smile stepped out, clapping his hands together.
"Welcome. I'm Alan Deaton." He opened up the small door in the counter, his eyes trained on her. "You must be Elaine."
