Normally when a person finally takes that big step to consummate a relationship, they're happy, glowing, and everyone around them can tell they finally got laid.

At least, that's how all the movies that Donghyuck has seen made it out to be. Unfortunately for him, reality wasn't as smooth and joyful.

Donghyuck chewed on a cold fry absently as he watched his best friend and his rival flirt openly at the lunch table.

Jeno said something that only Renjun could hear and made the boy blush a deep red. It was bad enough that Renjun was dating Jeno, but Donghyuck still had the innocent and pure image of Renjun from childhood stuck in his head.

Donghyuck decided subjecting himself to this for much longer would legally classify him as insane, so he picked up his tray and got up from the table.

He hadn't been in a good mood all day thanks to Mark's odd behavior this morning, so instead of ignoring the flirting he decided to make an offhanded comment about them getting a room. And suddenly Jeno sneered at him,

"Don't be such a sourpuss, Donghyuck, just because you're fucking single and can't get laid"

Donghyuck slammed his tray on the table and grabbed Jeno by the front of his shirt.

"Just because I'm not trying to give everyone in the fifty mile radius a mouth full of cavities, doesn't mean I'm single. And for your information, I got laid just last night"

Jeno laughed in his face, "Yeah fucking right. Your hand doesn't count"

Donghyuck was about to pull his arm back to punch Jeno in his face when Renjun stepped in-between them and gave them both a disapproving glare.

"Both of you need to stop. Jeno, there's no need to provoke him. Donghyuck, whatever you're angry about doesn't give you the right to resort to needless violence. I thought you promised Serim to stay out of trouble"

Renjun was right. Donghyuck knew that he was just being aggressive because he wasn't sure what was going on with Mark and why he lied to Donghyuck this morning.

It was eating at him that Mark lied to his face, but he wasn't going to confront him about it in the school parking lot. So Donghyuck had obeyed him and went to school with the anxiety that something was wrong.

He let go of Jeno's shirt and stepped back a couple of steps so he could try to get rid of the tension in his body.

He was wound up like the Energizer bunny and he knew he needed to calm down before he got himself in deep trouble.

"Yeah, you're right, Renjun. Sorry, Jeno"

Jeno just grunted and Renjun gave him a look before letting him know that Renjun would see him later. With that, Renjun took Donghyuck's arm and steered him back to their classroom.

"When were you going to tell me that you were dating someone?"

Donghyuck groaned internally, because he should have realized that comment wouldn't go unnoticed by his best friend. Even so, he tried to play it off as convincingly as possible.

"Oh, I was just joking"

He let out a laugh that sounded forced and it was so obvious that he was lying, but he hoped that by some miracle Renjun wouldn't notice. When he looked over at Renjun, he was met with a hurt look.

"You know you're a terrible liar, Donghyuck, I don't even know why you try. Who is she?"

"He. And it's complicated"

Renjun was silent for what seemed like forever and ­­Donghyuck thought that he was just going to drop the subject, but instead his best friend leaned in closer and whispered angrily.

"I didn't know you liked guys! Why didn't you tell me when I told you I liked Jeno?"

Donghyuck didn't get a word in before Renjun was whispering more urgently, "Is it the school nurse? Is that who you're dating?"

As soon as Renjun mentioned Mark, Donghyuck looked around frantically to make sure no one heard before he pulled Renjun into an empty stairwell.

Before Renjun could even ask what he was doing, Donghyuck hissed.

"Shhh, you can't just say shit like that. What if someone heard you? Swear you won't tell Serim, please. It's bad enough that she doesn't know I'm dating someone, if she found out who it was she would kill him!"

Renjun's eyes got impossibly big and he could barely keep his voice at a whisper,

"You're dating the school nurse?! Why didn't you say something? How long have you been together?"

Donghyuck shook his head, he knew he promised Mark not to tell anyone, but Renjun was his best friend and he would've figured it out eventually.

"Let's not talk about this during school. I'll tell you all about it later tonight. Let's just get to class, alright?"

Renjun nodded his head in understanding and they both headed back to class.

Despite the little detour, they still made it back before the teacher and Donghyuck decided he was going to just lay down on his desk and rest, because this day was turning out to be exhausting.
