Renjun looked in the mirror one last time to make sure his appearance was acceptable. His heart was pounding behind his black vest and baby blue button up shirt.

'Hair straight? Check. Teeth brushed? Check. Cologne on? Check. Heart still in chest? Check.'

Renjun took in a deep breath and held it for a few seconds before expelling it to try to calm down his nerves.

Jeno should be getting here at any moment and Renjun had to make sure he was as composed as possible. He wanted to impress Jeno with his ability to stay cool and collected, not look like a nervous mess.

"Renjun! Your friend has arrived!"

"Okay, grandpa!" Renjun took another quick glance in the mirror and nodded to himself before heading towards the front of the house.

His grandfather was standing in front of the door, looking out the window, when Renjun walked up behind him.

Before Jeno could even knock, Renjun's grandpa opened the door and stepped to the side to allow the other boy to step into the house. 

Jeno crossed over the threshold with a small smile directed at Renjun's grandpa, "Good evening, sir"

"Good evening, son. I hope you know to bring Renjun back before curfew"

"Grandpa! I'm not a kid" Renjun's cheeks burned with embarrassment and he was sure Jeno was grinning because of how red his face got.

"Fine, fine. Now go have fun and be safe" his grandfather practically pushed them both out of the front door.

Renjun stumbled a little over the first step and Jeno caught him by the arm before he could completely embarrass himself.

"Th-thanks" Renjun silently cursed his stuttering and his clumsiness as he righted himself.

"No problem" Jeno gave him a small smile before making his way to his car parked in Renjun's driveway.

Renjun followed suit and almost opened his mouth to ask Jeno what he was doing when he watched Jeno walk to the passenger's side.

Jeno was dressed in a simple black dress shirt and gray slacks. He looked handsome without making any effort and Renjun didn't think he could get any more attractive until he saw Jeno open the passenger side door and gesture for Renjun to get in. 

Renjun walked around him and felt Jeno's hand land on the small of his back with a little push. Renjun slipped into the car and as soon as he was seated comfortably, Jeno closed the door and jogged to the driver's side so he could get the car started.

The ride to the restaurant was mostly silent. Just the simple "how was your day" and "how is school" questions thrown out, but Renjun mostly just studied the interior of the car while Jeno concentrated on driving.

Renjun was trying to settle his nerves by not staring at Jeno, but occasionally he would take a peak when he figured Jeno was too focused to notice it.

Once they arrived to the restaurant, Renjun was floored at where Jeno had decided to take them. 'Dining In Space' was a restaurant you could only get in with a reservation and those were extremely hard to get.

They entered the restaurant and Jeno immediately went to the hostess to give her his name. After a minute of conversation that Renjun's ears couldn't pick up, Jeno waved to Renjun for him to follow and the hostess led them to a secluded table in the back of the restaurant.

As soon as they were both seated, the hostess left to go back to the front after promising them that their waitress would be with them shortly.

Renjun took in the surroundings with awe. He began to fidget with nervousness, because he hadn't prepared himself for anything like this and he was even more self-conscious.

Jeno seemed to notice his nervousness because he smiled at Renjun softly and said, "Hey, I'm nervous too. It's okay"

"You're nervous? The Lee Jeno?"

Jeno chuckled at Renjun's obvious surprise and disbelief before shaking his head, "Look, anyone can get nervous around the person they like, right?"

Renjun snapped his mouth shut and could feel the heat pooling in his cheeks. He looked up to see Jeno studying him, which only deepened his blush.

"You look great, Renjun. Thank you for coming out with me"

"Thanks, you too. I was surprised that you asked me" Renjun looked to the side, trying to avoid Jeno's gaze as his heart felt like it would pound out of his chest.

This was all surreal. The fact that Jeno asked him out the other day. The fact that he was sitting across the table from Jeno. The fact that Jeno just complimented him.

The waitress showed up a couple of minutes later to take their orders.

"Renjun, do you like lobster and steak?" Jeno looked at him expectantly and as soon as Renjun nodded his head, Jeno ordered for them both, "It's the best dish in this place. I promise"

Renjun couldn't wrap his mind around everything that was happening.

Here was one of the most popular guys in their school, notorious flirt, and stereotypical rich kid sitting across from him at the fanciest restaurant in a fifty mile radius.

Not only that, but their waitress was absolutely stunning yet Jeno barely gave her a second glance. This is someone who flirts with just about anyone and loves the attention.

Renjun felt like he was in one of those cliche romance movies, where the token hot guy falls in love with the geek.

Not to say that Jeno was falling in love with him, but it reminded Renjun too much of those movies. Renjun decided to take a drink of his water, hoping to cool his thoughts off with the cold liquid.

"So, you're in JCL, right?"

Renjun almost choked on his water and coughed a little before nodding his head, "Yeah. I help manage the club"

"That's cool. So what do you guys do? I never really understood what it was about"

"Oh, well we do a lot of things! There's a national convention held every year and…"

Now that was something Renjun had no problem talking about.

When Renjun was finishing his steak, which was cooked to absolute perfection, he realized that he had been talking the whole time.

Jeno had barely said anything besides asking a question here or there and this fact made the heat return to Renjun's cheeks.

All he did was talk about school and his club on their date, how much more geeky could he get?

"I'm so sorry, Jeno. I've been talking about myself this whole time" Renjun felt like he was about to cry, he was so embarrassed and ashamed of himself for not trying to get to know Jeno.

Jeno gave him a reassuring smile, "No, don't apologize. I like seeing your enthusiasm. I like seeing how excited you get about something, your whole body seems to relax and tense at the same time. I like watching as your eyes sparkle with excitement. And I guess, I secretly love to just listen to you talk"

Renjun looked away in embarrassment, his face, ears, and neck turning a bright red. He couldn't believe his ears, he must be dreaming or on some kind of hallucinatory drug.

"H-how can you say that so easily?"

Jeno straightened his posture from where he was resting his arms on the table and shrugged his shoulders in response, "It's just the truth"

Shortly after finishing their meals, Jeno paid the bill and left a generous tip for the waitress.

They walked beside each other to the entrance after getting their coats on, with Jeno placing his arm on the small of Renjun's back, his fingers curled around his waist.

It only lasted a minute, before Jeno pulled away to go open the door for Renjun with a slight bow which made Renjun snicker.

Jeno laughed out right and grabbed Renjun's hand to lead him hurriedly to the car, which made Renjun's heart pound harder than it has so far tonight, if that's even possible.

Renjun was sure if it beat any harder or faster, it would break through his ribs and out of his chest. What a great ending to a first date that would be.

They made it to the car and both got in hurriedly, because the wind was beginning to pick up and get colder.

The car ride back to Renjun's house was just about the same as the one going to the restaurant, the only difference was that Jeno was holding Renjun's hand while he steered with the other.

The silence was comfortable much to Renjun's delight. He was soaking in everything that had happened and he got so lost in thought that he didn't realize they were at his house until he felt Jeno let go of his hand to turn off the car.

Jeno got out of the car and dashed to Renjun's side to open the door for him, which made Renjun smile.

Jeno walked him up to the front door, holding his hand the whole way up the driveway and stairs. They stopped in front of the door and Renjun turned to face Jeno, who was still holding his hand.

"Thank you, Jeno. I had a really nice night" Renjun smiled at the other, not trying to hide the blush that seemed to find a permanent place on his cheeks.

Jeno grinned before covering his mouth with his free hand and turning away with his own blush. Renjun couldn't believe his eyes, yet another surprise tonight.

Jeno responded with a muffled, "Yeah, me too", before he took away his hand from his mouth and flashed Renjun smirk.

Renjun watched as his hand was being lifted to Jeno's mouth and could have sworn that his heart stopped as he felt and watched Jeno's lips brush his knuckles.

"Goodnight, Renjun"

Renjun watched as Jeno left in his shiny car before he took in a deep breath and entered his house.

Thankfully his grandpa had already retired for the night, the man trusted Renjun to be home on time so he didn't stay up and wait.

He headed to his room and grabbed his cellphone off his desk and texted his best friend,

'Hey, are you awake?'

It wasn't until a few minutes later that Renjun finally got a response.

Donghyuck: 'Yeah, what's up?'

'Can I call you?'

Donghyuck: 'Sure'

It felt like an eternity before Donghyuck finally picked up the phone. Renjun could hear some rustling in the background, which he assumed was Donghyuck was shifting his body to get comfortable.

"So, what's up? How'd your date go?"

Renjun took in a deep breath before responding, "It was amazing. I don't think I've been this happy in my life. He picked me up and…"
