CHAPTER ZERO : big news

- HAN YUNMI

The lights were dimmed, the room was uncomfortably warm, the whole bedroom was a mess and so were the couple's heads. Arguing on a Saturday night was not what Han Yunmi and Ryu Yejun had wanted to do, especially when one of Yunmi's biggest secrets was found out by her boyfriend.

"For fucks sake yunmi." Yejun gripped his hair in frustration. "You can't keep doing this to me. You don't understand my feelings at all, let alone put them into account whenever you do anything."

Yunmi was beyond surprised at the fact he was confronting her, which he wasn't the type to do so. Her tears were pouring down her face in guilt. "I didn't even do anything! You're jealous because of something that happened a year ago."

Yejun groaned. "You dating half of your school is nothing to you?" His voice cracked and his eyes were starting to look glassy as tears began to build up. "I know that I've liked you for years and you've dated more people before me but you have to understand my feelings."

"Yejun I told you it was months ago!" She shouted. "I'm sorry but it's not my fucking fault that I didn't like you back then. And plus, how did you even find out?"

Yejun raised a brow, contemplating whether to tell her or not. "That's not important, you lied to me. As always.."

She was in disbelief. "You're so fucking insecure. You really can't get over the fact you weren't enough for me back then?" She scoffed at him bitterly.

It was silent for a moment, and Yunmi then realised the harsh words she had just said. Before she could try apologise, Yejun scoffed back. "Oh so now you're going to blame MY insecurities for YOUR actions?"

"Yejun," She sighed. "I''m sorry, but you have to let it go. I like you now, you need to accept that I wasn't in love with you last summer."

"And you tell me that now." He scoffed. "Right at that time I believed you truly wanted me for the first time. But instead you were sneaking out with him instead."

"Please don't bring him into this.." Yunmi sighed and looked back at him with sorry eyes. "You know what happened that summer was not my fault."

"Yeah, you pretending you liked me whilst making out with my best friend and only liking me now because I give you everything you want was not your fault." Yejun laughed bitterly before sighing.

The boy ran his hand through his hair. This argument was going nowhere; he had just found out he'd been lied to by someone he loves and all she does is blame it on him.

"Forget it, Yunmi." He said coldly. "You were the first girl I've ever loved. But I just can't be used to you anymore. All I've wanted is to just make you a better person."

The last sentence had set her off and she stepped back. "Make me a better person?" She repeated in vehemence. "You know full well my bad habits are a completely different story to who I used to be in love with."

Yejun scratched his head. "Well maybe if you stopped fucking drinking and lying all of the time I'd actually put some trust in you!"

She gasped in offence and stepped further back. "Fine. Be like that. Fuck you then. Don't speak to me." She turned around and stormed off, quickly trying to leave. To her surprise, he hadn't called for her and all she heard was loud sobbing.

She walked outside to find her driver, but she had received a strange text message from an unknown person called 'Z'. She tilted her head at the message and opened her phone.

Z:
already breaking the innocent boy's heart, it's a shame yours is so cold.

Yunmi's eyes widened and she looked around in panic. Thankfully, her driver from earlier was still in front of Yejun's house and she sighed. "Take me to my mother's event. I need a distraction." She whispered the last part and groaned in annoyance before leaning onto the window.

Once she arrived, she was greeted by many wealthy and powerful figures around her mansion. Yet instead of greeting them back, she gave them quick smiles before running to the room she always hides in during these events. Her parents were nowhere to be seen so she was glad they wouldn't force her into another awkward conversation with some random nepo baby.

She opened the door to the secret bar and was met with someone she did not want to see. She slammed the door closed and stared at him. "Kim Gyuvin, what a surprise." She clicked her tongue. "Using my bar now are we?"

He smirked at her with a drink in his hand. "Hey bestie, looks like you need drinks - as always." He snickered. "Surprised you even turned up to this room. It's been long since we've talked here when it's just us."

Yunmi rolled her eyes and immediately poured the vodka and coke into one cup before sitting down opposite her family friend. Or, her ex friend.

"Why do you always look so grumpy?" He laughed. "And why'd you come late?" He looked her up and down and gave a look of disgust in realisation. "You went to yejun's house, didn't you?" Her cheeks were pink, her hair was a mess, her clothes were dishevelled and makeup was all smudged off. It was quite obvious she had been through a lot before coming here.

She didn't respond and continued to chug down the drink. "Damn, did you two fight?" Gyuvin raised a brow at her in surprise. "He was never the arguing type."

"Well maybe he is now." Yunmi rolled her eyes and gulped down another burning drink. "I don't know what to do anymore." These two basically despise each other, however just for tonight, she would open up to him. "We've never argued like this."

"Do you love him?" Gyuvin asked, leaning back on the sofa as he stared her down. "You know how sensitive Yejun is, do you really love him?"

Yunmi scoffed and snatched the bottle from the table to pour whatever it was into her red cup. "Of course I fucking do. I'm just so surprised he was hiding all of it from me."

"Pfft, hiding what? You're the one who hides everything from everyone, Han Yunmi." Gyuvin looked at her teasingly and smiled. "What? did I make you go through a life crisis or something?"

She slammed the cup down onto the table. "Gyuvin, stop acting like we're friends. The only reason why I'm talking to you so often is because of our parents."

He hummed and shook his head. "Whatever. At least tell me what happened. Yejun was my friend too, I just want to know the tea."

Yunmi knew they both wouldn't remember this conversation by tomorrow noticing his slurred speech. "Okay fine whatever, only because I need to rant to someone." She sighed and got herself comfortable.

"He found out something I did in summer when he thought I liked him. I literally like him now but he's so stressed on the past to the point we won't have a future." She complained, tapping the glass table with her foot. "It was last year, I get that I did something wrong but he knows I've changed."

Gyuvin snorted. "As I said, you hide everything from everyone. But, I'm surprised he did find out about what happened that night. It was so wrong of you both to do."

It was a bad memory of her past, and she never thought about it until someone snitched. She doesn't know who, but it was a huge mistake of them to do so. It was supposed to be a secret and she fully believed no one had found out. But her eyes widened in realisation, "Wait, how do you know what happened that night?" She panicked and sat up.

Gyuvin smirked and placed his drink down. "I'm not sure, but I do know."

She didn't bother to ask more. "If Yejun tells anyone, my family status and reputation will be ruined. We both know what he's like. I'm afraid he's going to tell people what I did. And after our fight, I'm sure he's going to tell someone more of the things I do."

"Like what? Being an alcoholic or having black lungs? Or perhaps enjoying your drugs on the daily." Gyuvin stretched his body out, knowing this topic would make her mad.

"Kim gyuvin." She glared at him.

"Actually, I gotta go." He winked as he struggled to stand up. "Looks like you and Yejun have so many secrets, it's sad he's so willing to tell yours." He snickered before opening the door.

"Gyuvin, wait." She stumbled up as she slammed the door closed again. "Tell me everything you know about that summer, now. If you know everything I need to know what you know."

Gyuvin had a grin plastered on his face straight away as he cocked his head to the side. "Aww, looks like Han Yunmi wants to talk to me after a year."
