CHAPTER ONE : worst solution
˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚
- HAN YUNMI
"This is all my fault." Yunmi stared at the tv watching the news of her boyfriend, or who was her boyfriend. "He can't be dead, he can't be." The guilt was getting to her head after the argument and she continued to sob silently. "For fucks sake, Han Yunmi. Why did you make him commit suicide?"
Her normally spotless room was a mess and even the maids couldn't get her out. It had been two days since the news of his death and three days since she last saw him with the worst way to hear his last words to her. As she cried, she also ignored all of the calls and texts that were all 'sorry for your loss' and 'are you okay' messages.
There was a knock on her door, and the pattern made her recognise it to be obviously yujin. "Yunmi please stop drinking." Yujin sighed at his older sister. "This isn't how you should deal with this stuff. You haven't even left your room in ages.."
Yujin knew about her addictions and she was indeed sat down with empty bottles of soju in front of her. The headache was agonising and she fell back down onto her bed. "Leave me alone, I'm okay." She said tiredly. "Let me deal with this news on my own, okay?" She tried to sound uplifting to her brother but all she heard was a sigh and the sound of fading steps.
Then to ruin her mood again a few minutes later, there was another knock on her door. "Yunmi, we need you out. I know you're not in the right head space honey, but this is important and is about yejun's death. you have to come to school since you saw him that night."
The moment she heard his name, Yunmi stormed out of the room. It didn't matter that she probably looked rough and she just shoved all of the alcohol in her bag although she was already feeling a banging headache - shw needed to know everything about him immediately.
What she didn't notice, is that she had to go to school instead of the police. Her and Yejun didn't go the same school either.

"Yunmi, what did I say about drinking on school grounds?" Her mother complained in anger, holding up the half full empty bottle. "Our status will be ruined if the higher ups find out about you coming to school drunk, let alone it being on the day we're called in for Yejun's case.
Her mother had also forced her to shower and look presentable before coming in, leaving her more time to think about Yejun with shameful thoughts. Yunmi rolled her eyes and yawned. "Please, mother. No one cares that much." She hiccuped, still attempting to remove the thought of him from her mind.
Then there was a sudden knock at the door. "Hello? Miss Jeon?" That voice was recognised to be the principal's son, Kim Gyuvin.
"Oh come in, Gyuvin dear!" Her mother called softly before turning to her daughter with a glare. "Be nice and throw that vodka bottle away. I know it's hard for you at the moment but please just act normal. especially in front of Gyuvin."
Gyuvin walked in and smiled at the woman. "My mother needs to talk to you about the case. the Ryu family are also outside too." He said. "I have to stay here with Yunmi." The woman thanked him and rushed out of the room.
He looked over at Yunmi. "Don't talk to me." Yunmi gritted her teeth. "I am not in the mood to talk to you right now." After that night they saw each other, it seemed that the two don't remember anything besides meeting.
Gyuvin shrugged and grabbed the vodka bottle from the bin. "Wow, you're a good student. Drinking vodka in school a few days after her boyfriend's body has been-" He had already did the thing she had told him not to do.
"Shut up." She grumbled. "I feel awful now, this is all your fault."
He stole the shot glass from her hand. "Thank you." He grinned teasingly enough to make her blood boil already. Then he poured himself a shot. "You're the one who talked to me about Yejun, it's not my fault that he's dead."
"We fucking ARGUED. I wish I never said what I said." Yunmi sniffled and grabbed herself a new shot glass. She then took the bottle from his hands. "I don't even know what emotions to feel right now. I just need a drink."
"You've been drinking for four days straight." Gyuvin leaned back. "I don't know why you're not sobbing, your boyfriend is fucking dead, and it was a supposed suicid-"
"SHUT. UP." Yunmi screamed, causing her eyes to started watering. She couldn't even believe someone who both her and yejun considered a friend has no emotions right now. She's even shocked that Gyuvin doesn't even looked the slightest bit upset about the news.
The door flung open, and a tall boy walked in. The two looked at him in surprise. "I've been sent in here don't ask." Ricky crossed his arms and strutted inside. He carefully sat down on the sofa opposite where Gyuvin and Yunmi were. "I must say, I'm not surprised you're both sharing a bottle of booze at eleven in the morning. Especially after Yejun.."
Yunmi scoffed. "Yeah whatever. Shut up. I am not in the mood to deal with this. Or you." She avoided eye contact with the boy and took another shot for herself.
Ricky was also a close friend of hers, Gyuvin's and Yejun's. Keyword : was. Yunmi hasn't talked to ricky since last summer, and him and Gyuvin despise each other for some reason. "I might need to take a drink actually." His eyes began to water. "Please, before i think about him again."
It was surprising to see him somewhat emotional considering her rarely showed his feelings to them, even when they were friends. But Yunmi nodded, allowing the boy to grab a glass and a whole bottle of soju for himself. "Thanks..." Ricky slightly smiled. At least he showed some emotion, unlike Gyuvin.
The tension was already at its peak when everyone's emotions were about to burst. The room was silent and the moment the door opened to reveal no other than their other ex friend, the three were close to going batshit crazy.
Gunwook leant against the doorframe. "Awh, so happy to see you guys here." He smirked and slammed the door closed. The three noticed how his eyes were red and puffy, indicating his tears after probably finding out the news. He looked nonchalant but his eyes definitely said otherwise.
Yunmi dropped the shot glass she was holding, making a loud shattering sound. "Fucking hell, I need to leave this room before I go insane. Why are all of YOU here the day I get to hear about the person I care about the most."
Gunwook scoffed and sat down on a separate chair. "Why are you acting like it's our fault for coming here?" He crossed his legs and his arms. "It's obvious why we're all here."
"Exactly Yunmi. You're an egotistical bitch." Ricky rolled his eyes. "He left ME too. You're not the special one. I also cared about him as much as you ever did. We were still friends."
"Yeah well I was in love with him, and I infact didn't break the friendship group like some other people." She rolled her eyes, clearly meaning them. "I'm the only one who stayed with him, you're all nothing in his life."
The room was now deafeningly silent besides the sounds of glass clinking. None of them had said anything. The atmosphere was awkward and the mood was off. They were all upset over an old friend's death and even if they did all hate each other, this was the first time they had all met in a year. Whereas just this time, it was without Yejun.
The door knob began to move and all of them hid the drinks in their bags in panic. The door then opened for the last time, and all four of their parents walked in, an additional family being the Ryus, who were Yejun's family. "You four are going to pay a visit to Chaeri College." Said the principal (Gyuvin's mother).
All of their eyes widened. "But why?" asked Yunmi immediately. "Why are we going to Yejun's school? Can't you tell we're not okay after the news? Isn't it shut for this week too?"
The principal sighed. "All four of you are going to investigate. You're the people who know him
best" She said softly, but her tone suddenly shifted "As you know him the best - you are also written down as suspects for his death."
They all almost jump out of their seats. "US?" All of them said in surprise. "We are suspects?" Gyuvin asked in panic. "Wasn't it a suicide?"
His father sighed. "Son, as principal of Chaeri College, I need all of you to go. We're not saying we don't trust you, but you are able to solve it as well as be suspects. Only for now, we're not saying any of you had killed him. But after further inspection, it doesn't seem like a suicide anymore."
"You need to work together. You may have the worst influences on the students attending here, but you're still the smartest. You can solve it." The principal crossed her arms. "In a week, you're going to be living together. I don't care that you're not friends. Sort yourselves out and start Yejun's case before his body and school has fully been inspected."
The four were just speechless. The way Yejun's case was being dealt with was unusual to them; although they all were on bad terms with him at the time of his death, the case being immediately changed to possible murder by the four of them was shocking. Yejun's parents then glared at the group of students before walking out, being followed by the other adults. Then the door slammed shut, and the four ex friends were now suspects.
"Okay, I'll make a group chat for this." Gunwook sighed. "It doesn't look like any of us want to talk in person. Especially Yunmi." The other two boys then turned to Yunmi who right at that moment, had fallen to the floor.

gunwook:
okay yunmi's laying down, what do us three do?
gyuvin:
wait until she wakes up to discuss this properly
her boyfriend is dead lol
gunwook:
ok
i think yejun's family thinks it was us
ricky:
i can't believe we are suspects
i haven't even talked to yejun since last summer
gunwook:
yeah cause you are all shitty people
gyuvin:
whatever
i think only yunmi was with him that night, since she came to me at like 11pm after seeing him
ricky:
and that means??? his body was found the exact next day
gunwook:
it means obviously she's going to be a suspect dingus
ricky:
alr
gunwook:
but as for us, we haven't talked to him in ages as long as i'm concerned. so how come we're supposedly murderers?
gyuvin:
well we all know we're all innocent
it was said to be suicide though, not a murder
gunwook:
looks like we need to figure things out for ourselves because this is weird
gyuvin:
but we can't let people think we did anything because we aren't even fucking friends with each other or yejun
ricky:
let's stay civil just for this case, the reason we're all not friends is irrelevant now.
