Threat from the Sea
The male tousled his white hair tiredly as he strolled down the empty hallways that morning. He'd walked down this path a million times and he still couldn't figure out the entire layout of the place. But maybe that was its purpose; to make sure could nobody could escape their stone confinement.
One place he was familiar with was the door he had stopped in front of. Protocol stated that knocking before entering was essential, but he wasn't feeling very compliant these days.
He opened the door and immediately saw the large man sitting behind the desk. What he didn't expect was the petite frame glancing back at him. "Kura....what a surprise." Arco voice sounded like a low rumble despite him being in a fairly good mood.
"Are you actually letting her go through with this?" Kura asked.
"If she can do it than I'd say she's earned it," The man replied. "Besides, it wouldn't be amusing if we didn't make (y/n) suffer a little bit."
"But she's been progressing I don't think she'll be a failure," Kura argued. "Give her time and you'll see her improvement."
"I did, but if she fails then we won't bother with her anymore. This will be (y/n)'s test," Arc said as he waved off the girl standing in front of his desk.
Kura watched as the person marched to the door in strict, professional manner. Right as she was about to step out, she halted. "I know you both believe I am not capable of the task but from the reports, (y/n) is not the shining star you think she is. She will not surpass this with the flying colors you two have painted her in. She doesn't have the strength to wield the power she has." And with that, the girl left.
Kura cast a scowl at the doorway. "And you trust her with the task?"
"She's part of the test. She offered to participate so I gave her permission," Arco said.
"But you also promised her something didn't you?" Kura questioned, crossing his arms.
"Yes, but that doesn't mean she'll necessarily receive it." Arco reclined on the chair and rested his hands on the arm rests. "I don't think she's fit to receive it."
"She's arrogant. More reason not to trust her with that kind of power," Kura scowled. "I've seen what (y/n) can do. She won't stand a chance."
"I wouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly, Kura," Arco warned with a knowing smirk. "In her possession is the numbing serum that was created in case something ever happened with (y/n). The odds are quite on her side."
"But that serum was never stated to be functional. You're going out on a whim," Kura reminded.
"We shall see," Arco smiled slyly.
"Whatever, I'm not going along with your crazy plans." Kura turned on his heel and walked toward the door.
Arco laughed from behind him. "Oh, and Kura?"
"What?" The white haired male stopped in aggravation.
"Don't interfere."
"Not planning to."
Kura sighed once he was out of the room. He glanced at the white walls surrounding him and felt a strange lonely feeling settle over him. "Be careful, (y/n)."

"If you wish not for annihilation, take heed! I bear a message from the depths!" The giant octopus monster that terrorized the citizens shouted. "You will surrender the surface to us, the Clan of the Seafolk! Thereafter, you will serve nourishment, human scum—"
The monster suddenly stopped when it saw two humans approaching it while the others ran away screaming. It chuckled at the sight of the one dressed in yellow. "Nice head! Are you related to an octopus by any chance?" The creature howled with laughter as it bent down and pointed at Saitama.
"Let's finish this quick 'cause I gotta take care of the egg today," You said with a slight yawn. It was pretty early in the morning; at least, it was for you.
"Alright, you want me to fling you?" Saitama asked.
"Yep, let's do this," You said, letting him pick you up. You straightened yourself out so he could throw you in one swing. He bent back the one arm he was using and tossed you towards the octopus.
The force in the throw was too fast for the creature to see. To be honest, you had to react quickly as well in order to strike the mark. You retracted your fist as you got closer to the target and channeled your strength into the attack. You yelled out when you shot your punch straight through the head of the octopus, making sure to clip the spot where the creature's heart would be. After you were clean through and you landed behind the monster, you remembered a piece of vital information.
"Shit! Saitama! Finish it off!" You shouted to the hero.
"What? But you just did." He pointed to the hole in the monster but saw that it was just slight stunned.
"I forgot octopi have three hearts! This can't be a one throw kill," You said.
"Well, fuck," Saitama sighed. He then leaped up to the monsters face with an extended fist.
"Foolish human! You cannot—" Too late. It was blown to pieces.
"Ugh," You groaned, wiping away the falling guts that rained down on you.
"I didn't know octopuses had three hearts," Saitama said, walking up to you.
"It's octopi, and they also have 9 brains and blue blood as you can see." You pointed at the stained ground.
"Whoa, really?"
"Yup."
"Where'd you learn that?" He asked as you guys began straying away from the scene and heading back home.
"The internet," You shrugged, glancing back to the streets littered with organs. "You know what? I think I'm going to stay behind and see if anyone got hurt. I'll catch up with you later."
Saitama smiled. He liked that you thought for others. He knew that he wouldn't have done something so noble unless it was absolutely necessary.
"Can you take care of eggy for me until I get back?" You asked.
"Eggy?"
"It's what I named the egg for now. I'm going to give it a proper name when it hatches," You explained.
"Uh, sure, where is it again?" Saitama inquired, scratching the back of his neck.
"It's in its incubator," You informed as you started to backpedal. "On the coffee table, you can't miss it!"
"Alright, and take care of yourself!"
"I will!" You called back as you waved goodbye and ran down the street.
You looked and asked around to see if there were any citizens in need of medical attention, but for the most part everyone was okay. As you made a few rounds, you saw people huddling around looking at what was left of the monster.
"I heard it was the same pair as before."
"What are they? Some power couple? What are their names?"
"I don't know, but they're super strong."
You were pulled out of you eavesdropping when someone on a bike skidded right in front of you. "Are you okay, ma'am?" The guy wore a helmet and goggles so you couldn't see much of his face. "What happened here?" He asked, looking about incredulously.
"Hey! I know you! You're that guy I helped a while back!" You abruptly recalled. "Mumen Rider, right?"
"Y-yes," He replied, finally getting a good look at you. It was hard to forget such a pretty face. "You're (y/n)?"
"Yup, that's me. Well, don't worry about things here. Everyone's fine," You assured him.
"What went through here though?" Mumen questioned.
"A sea monster, but a friend and I took it down."
"R-really? That's incredible. You hardly have a scratch," Mumen gasped in awe.
"It wasn't much of a fight honestly, but thanks," You beamed brightly. "Well, I should get going now. It was nice seeing you again, Mumen!" You gave him a kind smile and commenced your walk back home.
You barely spoke to him and you still left him dazed. You were quite the mysterious person.
"H-hey! Wait!" He called out before you left out of earshot.
"Hm?"
"Can I give you a ride back?" Mumen offered nervously.
Your lips spread into a small, appreciative smile. "Sure."

A Week Later
"(y/n), Sensei, your rankings have gone up," Genos informed proudly as he used the pressurized heat of his hands to dry the dishes in the kitchen. "(y/n) is in 3rd while Sensei is in 2nd."
"Looks like all that bad guy booty kicking was worth it," You sighed in content as you blew a warm breeze onto the egg in your palm.
"Soon you'll both be advancing to B Class."
"B Class huh? Does that mean I won't have to do anymore weekly quotas?" Saitama looked up from his manga.
"Correct. If you reach C Class, Rank 1, you have the option of promoting to the next class or remain in that spot. The current hero in that position has not risen above C Class in over half a year. His name is—"
"Mumen Rider." Genos glanced over to you astonished. "How did you know that?"
"Why are you guys so surprised if I know things? I'm not stupid," You pouted with annoyance. "And for your information, I looked into it."
"I didn't mean to make you feel incompetent, (y/n)," Genos apologized. "Do you know who the current top A Class hero is?"
"Yes, it's that guy who confronted us one time. Amai Mask," You answered, remembering the man's arrogant nature. "What was up with that guy anyway?"
You didn't get a response because then Genos's phone went off. "Excuse me." He took the phone and entered into the hallway. "Hello? City J? That's a bit far.... Are no capable heroes nearby? I see..."
"Busy guy..." Saitama commented but went back to his book.
"Can you pass me the remote?" You said.
He tossed you the controller by his feet. "Knock yourself out."
Just as you turned on the television, Genos returned. "(y/n)! Sensei! The monster you two defeated the other day, was it from the Clan of the Seafolk?"
"I don't remember," Saitama shrugged.
"Yeah, it was," You said curiously.
"Several monsters claiming to be of its clan are rampaging in City J. An A Class hero is having trouble fighting them alone," Genos replied.
"Trouble? Are they strong?" Saitama questioned.
"For him, maybe," You said quietly. They followed your gaze over to the news on TV. An image showed a lone man fighting off a horde of large monsters from advancing further into the city.
"His extreme fatigue and pain are apparent," the reporter on TV droned. "A prompt response from the Hero Association is desperately needed. The threat level is Tiger. All citizens are asked to stay out of the area."
You placed the egg inside its mini incubator and stood up. "Looks like we've got a job to do, boys," You said firmly. "We'll have to hurry."
Are you guys ready? 'Cause after all this, hell breaks loose >:D
