House of Evolution

Long ago, there was a brilliant young scientist. By dint of his astonishing genius, he was able to make a number of contributions to human knowledge.

But he became disillusioned with the world.

People praised his immense intellect, but rejected the idea that obsessed him. He received not the slightest support from the scientific community.

'Instead of striving to advance human civilization, we should create the artificial evolution of humans as a species.'

That was his only dream. And no one would cooperate.

"Damn these imbeciles!!" Dr. Genus said in a fit of rage. "'Dangerous ideas'? Writing about me as if I were some freak! Do they think humans have come this far by avoiding risks!?"

"Cretins who think they no longer need to evolve have no right to pass on their genes!" Genus growled as he ran a sweat hand through his thick black hair. "Of course, this plan was always for my own sake...I'll complete it alone of I have to!"

Even as a child, human imperfection dismayed the scientist. Everyone around him looked like pigs in human clothing. This irritated him to no end.

He was 15 when he began to brainstorm his plan for evolving the human race. To create the perfect world, a place he could feel at home.

He devoted himself to his research. However, it was only until after he turned 70 that his efforts yielded results. First, the scientist regained his youth. Next, he created clones of himself. Together they performed countless animal experiments before moving onto human subjects.

He called his laboratory the House of Evolution, and there gave birth to many new species—

"Cut the crap!" Saitama shouted in exasperation. "What's this got to do (y/n) and I? Just get to the point!"

"Sensei is a busy man," Genos glared down at Armored Gorilla. "Summarize it in 20 words or less."

"I don't think you have the right to say that," You mused. "Considering you were telling us your whole life story not even 20 minutes ago."

"O-oh.....Sorry...." Armored Gorilla apologized meekly. "So, uh, in other words, my boss is interested in your guy's bodies. Especially the girl's."

You let out a small offended gasp as your arms immediately covered yourself. Saitama looked a bit bothered by the last fragment of the gorilla's sentence. "(y/n)'s off limits, and sorry but I'm not into dudes," Saitama stated.

The House of Evolution? What did they want with you? You knew they had some relations to Arco's organization but you didn't think that he would hire this underdog corporation to come after you. Unless....he had seen something Genus had created that could possibly take you on.

"No, I think you misunderstood , Sensei," Genos corrected. "He plans to use yours and (y/n)'s superhuman anatomy and physiology for his evolution research. If nothing is done, then it is very likely that he will send more assassins." Your worries heightened when he said this. You couldn't afford to bring attention to yourself, not now.

"I've heard rumors about the House of Evolution before. It's a cult group preaching of the coming of a new world," Genos continued, making your anxiety further increase. Why did he have to know so much!? "But judging from Armored Gorilla and Mosquito Girl, it's involved in something more dangerous."

"We cannot allow them to run free," Genos said confidently as he turned to the two of you. "We should initiate an attack before they do."

"Alright, let's go," Saitama agreed getting into his serious mode.

"That's probably the best solution," You sighed tiredly as you followed Saitama. You wanted to deal with this situation as soon as possible. It would be terrible if something slipped out of your connection with them to Saitama and Genos.

"Yes....huh? Wait, now!?" Genos exclaimed.

"Yeah, there's a sale tomorrow. Can't do it then," Saitama clarified while holding up a coupon flier.

"And I've got nothing better to do," You mused with your folded hands behind your head.

As you guys got bit farther away with a Genos in tow, Armored Gorilla frowned with worry. "This can't be good...I'd better tell the doctor." A lid on his skull popped open to reveal a whirring radio transmitter.

"Hey, you."

Armored Gorilla would've jumped in fright if he was able to. "Ah! Y-yes?"

"A few final questions," Genos held his glare on the gorilla well as his aimed hand. "Was the House of Evolution developing prior to 4 years ago? How many more cyborgs are there? Have any of them destroyed towns in the past?"

The gorilla was puzzled. "I'm not sure, as far as I know, I'm the only cyborg at the House of Evolution."

"Another thing, why do you want (y/n)?" Genos inquired.

"I already told you."

"What I mean is....do you know her? And if so, from where?"

"I don't know, all I know is that she's a very esteemed subject for the doctor," Armored Gorilla replied.

Genos wasn't satisfied with the answer. In fact, he looked even more perplexed. But he lowered his hand and walked away. He kept stealing glances at you once he caught up to you and Saitama, wondering what this mystery that surrounded you was. If you didn't plan on telling him, then he was determined to find you out.

"Impossible!" Dr. Genus shouted as he stared at the large screen in front of him. "Our elite force, my creations to exterminate those obsolete humans, was wiped out!?"

"According to Armored Gorilla transmission, the ones responsible are on their way here," Clone 33 stated.

The screen zoomed in on each of your guys' faces. Displays of information appeared on the side. Yours in particular was caught wearing a worried expression.

"They're stronger than anticipated," Clone 56 spoke.

"But look at her. Her fighting, her grace, her physical attributes...she carries the genes we need to further our dream," Genus said. "I know it. And if she isn't complete then we can study the other male's abilities and to combine them into one perfect being."

"If they come, all our research, the fruit of everything we've been working for, could be destroyed," Clone 72 argued.

"This is a serious matter," Clone 78 weighed the odds on all their shoulders.

"Then we have no choice," Genus conceded. "Our only option is to use our trump card. Prepare to unleash Carnage Kabuto." All the clones in the room gasped before they all went into hysterics.

"What!?"

"No, not him!"

"That's crazy!"

"He'll finally be unleashed!?"

"He's right. That might be the only way."

"It's too dangerous!"

"I have a bad feeling about this..."

"Is that the only way!?"

"Calm down," Genus addressed the mumbling crowd. "It is only a last resort."

"But..." Clone 33 began.

"We will the activate traps on floors 1-8. Hopefully, that will stop them," Genus said as he turned on all the switches in the enormous computer before him. "I'm fully aware of what will become of me should we fail."

Four Hours Later

"I didn't think we'd be running the whole way," Genos said as you guys dashed through the lush green forest.

"What? You are complaining?" You teased.

"And who's being carried right now?" Genos countered, readjusting your position on his back to remind you of your state.

"I got tired," You pouted. "And thank you for being a gentleman and carrying me. You run weird by the way."

"I could drop you."

"Alriiiight, calm down."

"How did you expect us to get there?" Saitama asked.

"I thought perhaps you two could fly," Genos admitted. "Obviously this one can't."

"Hey!"

"Humans can't fly," Saitama informed. You decided to stay silent for this one.

"It's amazing that you two are always there in the nick of time. Both of you are a true heroes," Genos complimented.

"Actually, I'm always late," Saitama said as he gazed at you and Genos. He didn't know why, but the fact that you were getting pretty comfortable with the cyborg made him feel fuzzy in his chest. He felt better once he thought of an excuse to get you off of him. "And what do you mean this one can't fly? She has wings!"

"You do?" Genos glanced back at you for a second. You just kept getting more and more interesting.

You shrugged shyly. "It's nothing."

"And if you can fly, how come you aren't flying now?"

"Because I'm wasting my energy!" You defended fiercely only to have Genos roll his eyes. "Well, in any case, we're here," He said after he leapt over a steep slope of boulders. "This is the place Gorilla told us of."

"The House of Evolution," You mused breathlessly.

The building's architecture was strangely made. The windows were thin rectangular boxes incontinently placed all around the structure. The height of the whole thing had to be at least a 30-40 meters tall.

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6....looks like it's about 8 stories high," Saitama counted as you slid off Genos's back. As soon as you did, you noticed Genos crouch down. You screamed as the blasters in his hands erupted onto the building in front of you. You were so shocked that you had jumped onto Saitama. Luckily, he caught you.

The structure crumbled to the ground as easily as if it were made on sand. Not only that but Genos's attack completely obliterated a big patch of the mountain you were on. You and Saitama turned to the blond with wide eyes. "Um....what gives, man?" Saitama was the first one to speak.

"I thought this would be a more efficient way of disposing of them, all in one swoop," Genos explained.

"But still...." You mused. "Don't you think you might have overdone it?"

"Yeah....we could've at least seen what the bad guys had in store for us," Saitama agreed. "That was kind of mean."

"Hey, look!" You said as you let Saitama put you down. You ran over to the spot on the ground and began dusting it with your foot.

"What is it?" Genos asked.

"There's a basement?" Saitama added.

You pinched a corner of the steel door you had found and steadily bent open the lid. "It leads underground. The enemy must be down here."

Heeeeey guys X) Just wanted to update you guys on a few things. So If you can recall, I wrote that the reader was a descendant of fairies or something. ....I kinda took that out.
