Double Trouble

"Attention citizens of City W, there is a mass horde of monster heading toward the vicinity. It is urged to evacuate the area immediately and enter into City V until City W is completely cleared out," the operator could be heard.

You and Saitama had gone down to City V because there was a store with a 50% off sale on all items when the distant intercom of City W went off. Upon hearing the news, you jumped giddily with excitement. "Oh sweet! We can totally knock off this week's quota now!"

"But we'll miss the sale!" Saitama whined.

"You can go if you want but I really want to spend the rest of my week not worrying about finding bad guys," You shrugged.

Saitama stood thinking for a moment but ultimately looked up at you pleadingly. "But the sale!"

"There will be other sales."

"50% off sales?"

".....well....."

"Exactly," He tapped your nose with a finger. "You go on ahead. I'll catch up with you if I have time."

"Alright, have fun then!" You grinned before turning around towards City W.

"Wait, (y/n)!" Saitama's hand shot for your wrist.

"Hm? You changed your mind?"

"No......just, be careful, okay? Don't let your guard down for a second. I don't want you getting hurt even if you have superhuman healing," Saitama spoke softly and for a brief second you saw his still features show a hint of concern.

You slipped out of his grasp and onto his hand, giving a small squeeze and a reassuring smile. "I'll be okay, don't worry. I'm not repeating the same mistakes."

"Alright then, go kick some monster butt," He nodded with smirk.

"Will do, chief," You saluted and bolted down the street.

When you got there the place was in utter chaos. The operator made it seem like the situation was being contained but far from it. The monster were running amok, destroying all the stores and cars that were scattered about the street.

"Where to start...." You muttered to yourself as you squinted into the smoke filled area.

You were suddenly brought back to your senses when a giant roar sounded behind you. You didn't have to check and see if it was hurling something at you because you could hear the long scream. You turned around with your arms out and braced for the momentum of the impact. It nearly knocked the wind out of you as you skidded across the torn up street with the person in your arms.

"Jole?" You asked the bedraggled body.

She coughed and looked up at you. One of her eyelids was almost swollen shut. "H-hey, (y/n)...."

"Oh my god, are you okay!?"

"I'm fine." She pushed off of you to stand up again. "I gotta beat this thing. It's the one leading the rest of the small fry."

"Did you come here by yourself?" You questioned.

"I figured I'd get promoted a lot quicker if I could defeat this horde of monsters. I know I can do this," Jole said with determination.

"Well I don't mean to steal your thunder but some help wouldn't hurt. What do you say? Partners?" You offered a smile.

She looked at you curiously for a moment before nodding. "Alright, let's do it." She took out a steel cylinder from her belt loop and threw it against the floor only for it to bounce back as a fully unsheathed bladed staff.

The monster looked like a giant wolf but the way it stood upright made it appear awkward. It was nasty creature with yellow fangs and beady black eyes that seemed to be boring into yours. It let out a rumbling roar as it neared you two.

"Let's rock," You sneered.

You and Jole ran forward, she took to the wall while you went in for a direct hit. You had never seen her use her powers before, hell, you didn't even know she had powers before. But you soon saw why she named herself, Hummingbird.

Her speed wasn't as impressive as Sonic's, but it was still pretty damn awesome. She wall ran across the building and gracefully back flipped off of it to stab her staff into the creature's back. As soon as she did that, you sent your foot flying into the monster's jaw. You heard an awful cracking sound, earning high pitched howl from the giant wolf.

Jole grunted as she plunged her staff deeper into the beast's flesh. It shuddered with mighty growl and shook its entire body. Jole yelped as she tried to hold onto the staff to keep from falling but the monster was too strong. It flung her off and slammed her on the side of a building. It was about to snap its jaws at her when you quickly skidded across the street and in between the two.

You gasped as you managed to catch its jaws in your hands. Your victory was short lived though because you suddenly felt the creature's teeth sink into your palms. You grit your teeth as you pushed through the bleeding pain and forced your trembling arms to keep a distance between it and Jole.

"Jole!" Your voice was raspy from the straining your pain. "Get up!"

She groaned, slowly using the wall to get back up. But her legs then knocked together and she sunk to the cement. "I-I can't...."

"Shit..." You muttered to yourself as the beast regained some energy and tried to snap its mouth shut. You squeaked as you withheld from screaming. If you didn't hurry your hands were going to be demolished and there would be nothing to stop the monster from gobbling you both up.

You made a split second decision and let the monster bite down on your arm while you slammed your elbow down on its nose. It yelped and leapt away from you.

"Even if you're some huge dog monster, you're still a dog," You smirked, flicking your wrists to speed up your hands' healing process.

It roared angrily and pounced for you. You kicked off its nose and jumped onto Jole's staff, pushing the weapon further down. The creature whined and fell on the ground as it pawed for release.

In one swift grab, you pulled the staff out of its back and leapt back onto its snout. You slashed the blade across its face and ruptured its eyes, leaving it blind and yelping in agony. It swung its claws at you but you were already off of it when it did.

You had shot for the lamp post and were leaping from building to building until you had gotten to the highest point. On your way up, you were gathering as much energy into summoning a small storm under you guys. You looked up at the sky and were satisfied with your result.

You licked your lips and watched the animal struggle in pain. Once you were confident in your aim, you jumped off the building roof and soared down onto the beast. You used the winds to kick up your speed as you marked Jole's staff for the monster's heart.

You grunted as you shoved the steel weapon through the creature's flesh but not far enough to touch its heart. You raised your open palm to the sky while monster roared out its suffering. It didn't get to finish its bellow because the bolt of lightning you had called had already struck down and thrusted the blade through the organ, but not before unleashing a lethal shock that reverberated throughout its whole body.

The electricity was too much for its body too much handle. The beast's flesh imploded on itself, releasing all its burnt insides and scattered them all across the street. There was a brief shower of blood rain that soaked your clothes and hair as you looked up and saw your storm disappear back into the previous cloudless day. You glanced down and caught sight of your bloody red hands and felt a eerie shudder crawl down your spine.

No. You weren't that person anymore. You did this to protect others, there was nothing wrong in killing that monster.

You sighed and pushed back the memories that haunted you and went over to see if Jole was okay. Before you could though, you found her staring at you wide eyes.

"You....you took that thing out like it was nothing...." She breathed with a shaking voice. "How....I thought you were a C Class...."

You walked over to where her staff lay on the ground and picked up the piping hot metal. You then strode back to Jole offered her a hand up. "Strength shouldn't be categorized by levels. It should be by the strength of one's heart."

Jole stared at your blood stained face for a moment before accepting your hand. She said nothing, only kept staring at you in amazement.

You suddenly heard the scuffle of feet and saw the rest of the monsters sniffing the area for whatever was left of their leader. They gazed at you at first with the intent of attack, but with a sharp look from you they back off and scampered away with small whines.

You looked back to Jole and handed her the staff. "Here, it's cooled down a bit. It shouldn't be that bad."

She glanced between you and the weapon as she retrieved it. "What....what are you?"

"Just a hero for redemption," You shrugged.

"It's nice to see you still have your spark, Shini," Kura chuckled lowly from where he watched.

"Yeah, she did it flawlessly," Kura informed the person on the phone. "Are you still planning to use her?" The male's expression darkened upon hearing the next words. "I thought you were going to bring (y/n) back to—"

"Why her!?" Kura growled. "You're just going to let her!?"

He let out a humorless laugh. "If you think there's even the slightest chance that she could—" Kura then sighed, but he still seemed irritated by what he was told. "Yeah, yeah, fine. Whatever you say."

He hung up the phone and angrily shoved it into his pocket. He glanced down and weighed the distant look in your eyes. "I have faith in you, Shini. Don't let me down."

Not long after you defeated the monster, you were bombarded by reporters that came investigate the source of all the commotion that could be heard in City W.

"Where you the one who killed the beast?"

"I had some help from my friend, Hummingbird as well," You said, wanting her to get some credit too.

"How did you do it?" The reporters asked. "We got some pictures of the size of the beast and it couldn't have been an easy task. But seeing as you completely obliterated it we may not be so sure."

"I killed it, does it matter?"

"Hummingbird! Is there anything you'd like to add?"

"What she said," Jole smiled at you.

You both laughed as you pushed through the new horde and walked away. "I know you don't care much for classifications, but do you think we'll be promoted?" Jole asked.

"Well I only care if I get to stop doing these stupid quotas," You replied, putting your hands behind your head. "But I mean I wouldn't mind."

"You're an interesting person, (y/n)," Jole grinned. "I want to be like you."

"Careful what you wish for you," You warned her with chuckle.

After that, you guys parted ways. As soon as you got home Saitama nearly had a heart attack.

"What the hell happened to you!?" He shouted, seeing your clothes sopping with blood.

"Relax, it's not mine," You sighed. "Hey do you know how to get blood stains out of clothes?"

A little something to add some mystery X) Hope you liked it!
