Silky sheets.
Not the old disgusting regular ones.
The silky sheets that feel soft against your skin.
Those are the ones that Kim Taehyung wanted.
He hated the feeling of those cheap sheets that he felt scratched his skin.
"Sir, your bed is done."
"Tsk, Okay why do you need to tell me? There is a reason for your assistance so I know that my bed is done." The maid shut her mouth and bowed.
"Leave already, I don't want to see you anymore."
"Y-yes sir." The maid left quickly making sure not to make a sound because Mr. Kim always found a way to get bothered by everything.
He was from the Kim family. One of the wealthiest families in Seoul. They had a big business and everyone knew and acknowledged their existence.
Taehyung entered his room which was free of people and laid down. He had the mindset where he thought himself superior to the other people. He was rich after all, and the other people were 'poor' or were of a 'lower class'. In his mindset, people who weren't in the same class could never interact with each other.
He was going through his social media pages seeing what was new from the last time he checked, which in reality was most likely 10 minutes ago when he heard a knock on his door.
"What." Taehyung growled as he sat up and watched the door open to find the same maid there.
"Sir you father would like your presence in his office." Taehyung rolled his eyes in annoyance to what had been said.
What could he possibly want now?
"I'll be right there." He bluntly said as he stood up and checked himself in the mirror to catch anything that his father might judge him on. He always found something that he thought was imperfect, and was needed to be immediately needed to be fixed. After he was done, he left his room and walked the long halls of the mansion where he resided which where covered in framed pictures of his mother and himself.
She had died when he was young that caused him to barely have any memories of her. All he remembered was faint memories of them playing in the backyard while his father was in his office working. His father never really showed much interest in him or his mother due to him practically living in his office. So, it was almost always only Taehyung and his mother.
Always.
Well that was, until she suddenly got sick, and passed away shortly.
Taehyung was really close with his mother and always preferred her over his father in all things. He used to admire his father, and have him be his role model because his mother would always tell him that his father worked hard for what they had. Those feeling although, vanished soon when he had taken a big step that took a lot of courage in his life to come out to his father.
He was fifteen when he realized that he was gay and he decided to tell his father the news without hesitation because,
What could possibly go wrong?
Well it seemed that something did go wrong.
His father didn't accept his sexuality and was close to disowning him but at the last moment didn't because he wanted to protect his image.
That fucking changed him forever.
It wouldn't have if his mother was still alive then, but what can you do with what already happened?
He grazed his fingers against the frames each time, recalling the moment that was occurring in each picture. Since his mother died, he didn't show much emotions anymore especially after the incident with his father and because of that, many people described him to be cold or numb when it came to feelings.
When he was a younger, he would often go around the house because he loved to play 'ninja' so he would silently go to places here and there. The last time he played the game though, was the most memorable of all of the other times he played. He had overheard the maids gossiping about his family.
—
"Do you think Taehyung's father is in a business other than 'investment'?" That's all young Taehyung needed to hear to know what they were talking about.
His father couldn't possibly be in an illegal business right? He was his role model! Impossible! They were lying!
So young Taehyung decided to ignore them and stopped playing his game, because he didn't want to hear people making lies about his father again.
—
The frames with pictures ended and with that, so did the hallway. Taehyung stood in front of the 2 big doors that were always closed and had two gold doorknobs. He knocked no more or less than 3 times making sure that the knocks could be clearly heard.
"Come in." The voice was low and raspy. Taehyung opened the door and found himself inside the room with a big desk in the middle back which was in front of the window that was the wall. The man was in his chair sitting and facing his only son who was standing in the middle of the room with a cold expression on his face.
"Taehyung."
His son walked up and began walking towards the front of the room making sure that his feet wouldn't drag because that bothered the man sitting at his desk staring at him.
At last, Taehyung reached up to his father and sat in one of the two chairs which was placed in front of his desk.
"What do you want. It's not the first time you call me for unnecessary shit." Taehyung rolled his eyes and fiddled with the hem of his blazer.
"Taehyung watch the language. I have asked for your presence here for something important that I have arranged."
Taehyung didn't really think much of it. Every time he called him, it was just to let him know that they partnered up with another business, or that they are now in debt with another family or some other events that Taehyung found shitty. But even though they were terrible events most of the time, he felt that this certain thing was going to be different and he needed to know what it was.
"Spill it."
—
He didn't care about the sheets.
Silky, rough, soft.
He didn't care if one was softer than the other.
He didn't care about the quality.
As long as he had a bedsheet, he was contempt.
"Mr. Jeon, your bed is done."
Jungkook looked up from his breakfast. He usually did his bed and he didn't want to bother anyone else to do it. Yes he was rich, but that didn't mean that he had to hire people to do stuff for him. He knew that the reason the maid was hired was to clean around the house, but he still managed to help her out when he could.
"You don't have to do my bed. How many times have I told you? I can do it myself so you don't need to worry. It's okay, I got it." Jungkook saw the maid nod, which made him chuckle.
"I won't bite or anything so no need to be afraid." Jungkook gestured for the maid to sit with him at the table. The maid did as signaled, and Jungkook got up to serve her breakfast.
"Mr. Jeon yo-"
"Don't call me Mr. Jeon it makes me feel old. Call me Jungkook or...Kookie!" The maid was shocked to see such a kind person towards another person of a lower class like her. Her last boss was...cold towards her. He had fired her because she broke a cup when she was cleaning the table from breakfast.
"Mr...Jungkook, why are you so nice towards me?" She expected Jungkook to shrug, or scoff, but his reaction was the total opposite.
"What's your name?"
"Eun."
"Well Eun, I don't like the idea of making someone else do work for me just because I have money and they don't. It's pretty unfair of you ask me. Everyone deserves to be treated the same way not matter what so I guess that is the explanation of my actions." Jungkook gently placed the plate with food in front of Eun and took his seat once more,
Eun nodded and was relieved to find that there was still good people in the world.
"Also, would it be fine with you if I call you Eun from now on?"
"Yes." Jungkook smiled and continued eating gesturing Eun, to do that same. At first, it was silent no one speaking just eating. After a while, Jungkook finally took initiative and started a conversation.
"So Eun, how did you end up here? I mean, if you don't want to tell me it's okay." Jungkook gave a reassuring smile to show that he wouldn't judge her or make fun of her. Eun nodded to show that she understood the meaning behind Jungkook's smile.
"I was fired from my last job because I broke a cup." Jungkook stopped his hand which was moving a fork with food towards his mouth.
"Just because of that they fired you?"
"Yes." Jungkook didn't want to believe it.
How could someone be so harsh? Sucked to be themselves.
"May I know who was your previous boss?" Jungkook wanted to know exactly who was the person who fired this kind person, who must have accidentally broke the cup.
"Uh...I don't remember his name but I clearly remember his son's name. Kim Taehyung." Jungkook's eyes widened at the name he heard.
"The Kim family?" He questioned to make sure he heard correctly. Eun gave a nod to confirm his doubt. Jungkook knew of them. They were one of the wealthiest families in Seoul alongside Jungkook's own family. It was said that the Kim and Jeon family were equally wealthy, but the rumor was that the Jeon family would soon surpass them.
"Tell me more about them. How were they like? How is his son?" The conversation lead to gossip about how Kim Taehyung was cruel just like his father and the reason behind it. They were interpreted by another maid.
"Mr.Jeon, your parents would like to meet you in their office now."
"Okay tell them I'll be right there okay?" The maid left leaving both Jungkook and Eun alone once more.
"Well I have to go...I'll talk to you later later Kay?"
"Sure go do what you need to do, I'll clean up here."
"Thanks Eun." Jungkook stood up and walked over to his parents office wondering why he was called.
New business? Don't think so.
Expanding of the business? Probably not.
New family debts? Maybe.
Special events? More likely.
He finally got to the entrance of the office. He was a little distracted because of what Eun had told him. He thought about how hard it must have been for Kim Taehyung to come out and then get rejected by his own father because he didn't like that his son was gay. Most importantly, he couldn't imagine how that must have affected him. Maybe the was the reason for how he acted. Alas, he didn't know.
"Really messed up if you ask me." He mumbled to himself. His parents accepted him when he came out to them. He himself was also gay and it took a lot of courage to come out so he knew how Taehyung must have felt when he did so.
He opened the door and entered. He found himself in front of both his parents. Mr. Jeon was sitting in his chair at his desk, and Mrs. Jeon was sitting in front of him in one of the two chairs placed in front of his father's desk.
Ah, his two favorite people in the world. He admired his parents in very way possible. It was them who taught him to be himself, to not treat people different just because they didn't have the same things as them.
"Hello father, mother, why am I here? Did something happen? Did I do something?" Jungkook questioned. He was barely called to his father's office. Especially when both his mother and father were present.
"Oh Kookie no you didn't do anything, but yes something did happen." Jungkook was relived by the first part but was shortly shattered when he heard the last half of his fathers sentence.
"We need to tell you something." His father said looking away to break eye contact between his son and himself.
"What is it? Is it bad?" The boy nervously asked.
—
"I have arranged a marriage for you." Both fathers of the boy's said.
