in the ocean of life.
now we are sinking.

The Hale family were your typical upper class, wealthy, family. Sure, they remained secluded for most of their time in Mystic Falls, but that was simply because they craved privacy more than anything. They did not have many friends, nor did they have much family that lived nearby.

Gwendolyn Hale, the youngest child of the family, lived a happy, quiet, and stable life living with her parents and eldest sister. She aspired to grow up, get married, start a family with her husband, raise a family, grow old, and die. As that's what everyone expected of her.

Unfortunately for her, fate decided otherwise.

She didn't believe in vampires, despite the rumors which lingered around Mystic Falls; nor did she believe in the supernatural. But when there came talk of a raid to be rid of all the vampires the town, she began to question her beliefs.

Eventually, the time came and she believed she was safe from the hunters, as she was most certainly not a vampire. And yet she found herself on the streets running from hunters as fast as she could, mistaken for a woman by the name of Katherine Pierce.

After a while of tiresome running, she was shot in the stomach with a wooden bullet in the woods and died shortly after failing to persuade them to set down their weapons. Fortunately for her, the day before the attack she had seen the doctor for a common cold and unknowingly received vampire blood that stayed in her system for a few extra hours.

As she was being dragged to the tomb, she awoke from her death. She attacked the hunters in a bloodthirsty and aggressive manner, but being a recently transitioned vampire, she was only able to kill two of them until she was shot and brought to the tomb beneath Fell's church.

Due to a severe lack of blood, she spent the ensuing 145 years in a severe state of desiccation until being rescued by two brothers and brought into the twenty-first century.

okay so apparently in the show the doppelgängers are born every 500 years but i changed it to around the area of 100 just so stefan and gwen could be born around the same time
