After playing some games, how about some fun facts?
Fun Facts!
Did you know...
🧚 A lot of the famous authors we know and love today are fans of fairy tales. This includes the likes of C.S. Lewis, Terry Pratchett, and J.R.R. Tolkien. In fact, Charles Dickens said that fairy tales kept him ever young!
🧚The very first tale of Cinderella was written in China around 850 AD - and over 700 versions of the story have been recorded from around the world. In the first version of the story, Cinderella's slipper is made of gold, not glass!
🧚In one of the earliest tellings of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Goldilocks isn't a cute little girl. Instead, she's a foul-mouthed old woman!
🧚 The name Maleficent comes from the Latin word "maleficenta" which means "evil-doing".
🧚 The story Hansel and Gretel is actually miss-titled. The Grimm Brothers' Roland and May-Bird tells the story as we know it today. In fact, the original Hansel and Gretel has a totally different plot where Hansel turns into a deer and Gretel marries a prince!
🧚Older versions of Jack The Giant Killer didn't feature the beanstalk, reflecting the medieval belief that giants were real and lived among men on Earth.
🧚 The red hood in Little Red Riding Hood was introduced by Charles Perrault in Tales Of Mother Goose (1697), who said the moral of the story was that children "do very wrong to listen to strangers".
🧚 Do you know any other fun facts? If yes, feel free to share!
