4 - Monday Mood
Felix couldn't help but let his thoughts revolve around the stranger all week. He asked himself a thousand questions: Why was he only there on Mondays? What was his job? Was he around Felix's age? Was he into men?
Felix considered going to the same club again just to see if the stranger might be there. But unfortunately, Jisung was already busy, and Felix didn't want to go alone. What made him a little suspicious, though, was that Jisung wasn't really telling him where he was going or who he was with. Jisung had been acting strangely in recent weeks and had less time for Felix. Felix suspected Jisung had met someone, but he didn't want to pressure him and decided to wait until Jisung was ready to talk. After all, Jisung had gone through a tough breakup with his ex, so Felix figured that was the reason he hadn't shared anything yet.
The weekend couldn't end soon enough for Felix. He was eager to see the handsome stranger again and had made up his mind to talk to him if they ended up sitting in the same compartment.
And finally, Monday arrived. Felix sat in the train, in a four-seat compartment that was still empty. Full of excitement, he deliberately spread out a little more to prevent anyone from sitting next to him. He hadn't even taken out his headphones.
At the next stop, the usual passengers boarded, and someone sat next to him. Only the two aisle seats were left, which gave Felix hope that the stranger might sit beside him. Then, at the next stop, the long-awaited moment came. Felix was so nervous that he nervously twisted his fingers, his gaze fixed on the entrance to the train car. Finally, the familiar face appeared. The stranger's eyes scanned the room, paused for a moment, and when they locked on Felix, they lit up. A smile appeared on his full lips, and he moved towards Felix. They had never broken eye contact, and Felix's heart raced with joy.
The stranger finally stood in front of him and politely asked if he could sit next to him. Felix nodded, but no words came from his mouth at that moment.
His heart pounded wildly as the stranger sat down and accidentally nudged Felix's leg.
"Oh, sorry," the stranger's soothing voice said, making Felix's stomach flutter.
"No problem," Felix stammered, wanting to slap himself for the awkwardness, but the stranger's smile made him forget what he had just said.
"Wow, you have an exceptionally deep voice," the stranger remarked, catching Felix completely off guard. He hadn't expected the stranger to speak to him and didn't know how to respond at first. Eventually, he managed to give a dull reply:
"I hear that a lot."
Felix could have kicked himself for not being able to carry on a normal conversation, but it seemed the stranger wasn't put off by Felix's awkward responses.
"Do you take this train every morning?" the stranger asked, initiating their first real small talk.
As the journey went on, they asked each other trivial things, and Felix gradually relaxed in the presence of the stranger. But just as they were getting into the conversation, a phone call interrupted them.
"Oh, sorry. I have to take this," the stranger apologized, glancing at his phone.
"Hwang Hyunjin?" Felix overheard the stranger's name, and just like that, he knew it. Unfortunately, the phone call took longer than Felix hoped, and he had to get off before the stranger finished. He waved goodbye, receiving an apologetic smile in return before getting off the train.
Felix's heart soared. He had learned so much about the stranger today, especially his name—Hyunjin.
With a grin on his face, Felix sat down at his desk, preparing for the next class. Or at least he tried to. Secretly, he Googled the name Hwang Hyunjin, but found nothing relevant at first. However, he couldn't continue searching, as Jeongin interrupted him.
Jeongin raised an eyebrow and asked, "Since when are you so cheerful on a Monday? You usually have the typical 'Monday mood.'"
Felix smiled but didn't answer, letting his thoughts wander back to Hyunjin.
Deep down, Felix knew it for sure now: Monday had become his favorite day of the week.
