Chapter 8 - Confident (Demi Lovato)

As soon as I sat down on the same chair again, all the dancers, including Hyunjin, entered the room.

This time he was no longer wearing a vest, but leather gloves instead. He positioned his hand in the air again to form a pistol and the music started.

I watched the spectacle and when he performed his solo dance, my mouth was open. I couldn't stop being amazed.

His shirt was slightly unbuttoned and drops of sweat shimmered like pearls on his skin.

What a sight...

When he tried to stand up after his floor choreo, he lost his balance.

I found myself holding my breath.

He was immediately interrupted and this mistake seemed to take a lot out of him. He kicked the air angrily. The make-up artists immediately came running and slapped sweat wipes on his forehead, that his hair didn't stick together from the sweat.

Ashamed, he looked in my direction and somehow he made me want to encourage him. So I gave him an big smile, put both thumbs up and formed a "you can do it" with my lips.

His face immediately brightened and he stood up again.

And this time he managed to stand still and continued with the choreography. Shortly afterwards, the dancers joined in again, Hyunjin in the middle.

Suddenly he fell to his knees on the floor and I thought he had injured himself, but he grinned devilishly and continued dancing.

What a laugh, just like he did in Play with fire. Somehow I couldn't get that laugh out of my head. It stayed in my mind until the end of the choreo.

It was out of character for him. The laugh didn't fit with the usually clumsy Hyunjin and yet here it fits perfectly with the mafia theme, which he had implemented so damn strongly.

His presence was incredible and I was looking forward to the resulting video.

He came up to me immediately after talking to the manager. He looked so happy that I had to smile.

He came storming towards me. With his long legs, he covered the distance in no time and surprised me with a big hug.

Amused, he spun me in circles and shouted with a laugh:

"I did it, Yongbok! It's done! Haha!"

His scent went into my nose when he pulled me so close to him, but it evaporated as soon as he let go of me.

*What does he smell like? Musk? Cedar wood?*

Somehow it was a shame that he let go of me and I also felt a little sad. However, his laughter immediately lightened my mood and I joined in. I gently squeezed his shoulder and spoke:

"That was great! Great job!"

His grin widened. He was just about to start speaking when the manager came running up:

"Hyunjin! Ah, hey... Felix, right? Can I borrow him for a minute?"

I barely had time to reply when he took off with the pretty boy in tow. Hyunjin glanced briefly over his shoulder, his gaze a little anxious, and he called in my direction:

"Be right back Yongbok! Why don't you wait for me in the changing room?"

...

I don't know how long I sat here, but by now I was in a very bad mood. Once again, thoughts like:

I should make this video!
I should get the honor!
He always gets everything!
He's everyone's favorite!

A histeric laugh escaped my lips.

"HahaHAHAHA!!! ... Shit, what am I doing here anyway?" I hissed and stood up abruptly.

Just as I pressed the door handle, it jumped open and pulled me forward with it.

"Ahhh!" I shrieked and squeezed my eyes shut as I waited for the painful impact, but I landed softer than I expected.

I opened my eyes and looked directly into familiar eyes with a birthmark under the eye.

Budum...

My heart skipped a beat and I immediately jumped off him.

"I'm sorry!" I stuttered and helped him to stand up.

"Do you always go for it like that?" he winked at me, confusing me even more with his ambiguity.

*Is he flirting with me? Have I missed something? Since when does he make such innuendos?*

I followed him into the room, somewhat distraught, unable to respond to his comment. Focused on my fingernails, I brooded to myself until Hyunjin lifted my chin and forced me to look at him.
My face immediately flushed and my heart began to beat faster.

*I don't understand this reaction. I've never noticed that I react this way to my counterpart before. That his face is very attractive and his eyes so deep and beautiful...*
*
Ashamed of my stare, I averted my eyes.

"Since when so shy, Yongbok," he grinned and gently stroked my chin.

The touch sent a jolt of electricity through my body, but his comment made me angry.

*How can he say and do things like that and expect me to care?*

Defiantly, I looked into his eyes again and replied:

"I'm not shy!"

"No? That's what it looks like to me," he smirked as he came closer to my face. Our noses were almost touching.

And that's when I caught him staring at my lips for a second.

*He wants to play? Fine, he can have that! It's his own fault with his ambiguous insinuations! Let's see what you say to that!!!*

Without giving my action any more thought, I grabbed his shirt by the collar and pulled him jerkily towards me. His eyes widened abruptly and his smile died. His lips parted a little bit.

"Does a shy person do that?" I sparkled and confidently pressed my lips to his.
