Chapter 33

Magnus

Lachlan thought I was teasing him as I drew dinnertime out longer and longer, but really, I teased myself. See, this afternoon I'd run home between meetings to clean myself thoroughly and to insert a plug that had caused me a lot more trouble over the past couple of hours than I ever anticipated.

It sounded so simple when I thought of it. I'd be all prepped and ready for him to do whatever he wanted to me, and in my imagination, Lachlan would be so massively turned on that he would want to do a great many things. Lately all our intimate time was squeezed in just before bed, or maybe when we woke in the morning. Once, I managed to sneak away an hour after lunchtime and had talked Lachlan into a quickie – not that he had needed much convincing.

Anyway, I'd used plugs in the past, but never for this long and never when I had to move so much. The worst part? Stairs. Each step I took jostled it within me until I was so hard it hurt. Finally, I darted out of my office even though Roy and I were still talking about how involved I should stay in the pack's financial side – he wanted to have weekly briefings to keep me apprised and I'd been kind of thinking his new appointment as my co-alpha meant I could wash my hands of that side altogether. In the end, I was so desperate to get back to Lachlan that I agreed to the stupid briefings and rushed home.

And now, like the low-key masochist I might truly be, I was drawing out the time it would take to get my incredible mate up to our bedroom. Eventually, there was no more stalling left to do. I had barely set down my fork after eating the final bite when Lachlan pulled my chair out and snatched me up. He carried me in his arms up the stairs, and his every motion sent tremors of pleasure through me that Lachlan didn't even know he was setting off.

"Lachlan! I can walk myself!" I protested, my voice squealing a bit as he hitched me up and lodged the plug deeper.

"Nope. You've played enough games. If I let you go, who knows what you'll do next?" Lachlan asked.

I couldn't resist taunting him, "You're not asking the right questions. It's not about what I'll do next. It's about what I've already done."

Lachlan's eyes met mine for a burning second before he picked up his pace. "Are you going to explain what you mean?" he asked. His voice was a little strained.

"I'd rather show you," I said breathlessly. It took every effort not to let a moan slip loose, since Lachlan's latest movements had shifted the plug so it was just barely not pressed against my prostate. I wasn't sure if that was a curse or a blessing.

We finally made it to the bedroom and Lachlan dropped me on the bed. I saw stars, and while I did my best to cope with an arousal so intense I hurt, Lachlan pulled off my clothes piece by piece. When I was completely naked, he climbed on top of me with all his clothes still on. The roughness of his jeans as he lightly ground on me added to the pleasure-pain and I bit his shoulder hard to cope.

"Eager, are we?" Lachlan asked with a low chuckle.

"Yes. Get in me, now." It was meant to be a demand, but my voice came out needy and pleading. This was all wrong, but it felt too good and I didn't know how to turn it around. I'd been planning to stun Lachlan into a frenzy with my little plan, and I had been so excited to take charge of our lovemaking. The situation had completely gotten away from me, though, and now Lachlan was looking down at me with heated, appraising eyes that swept lingeringly over my body.

"Soon," he finally said, and I actually whimpered.

At that point, I had two choices: touch myself for relief or do something to get Lachlan on my level. My trembling fingers found the button to his jeans, but Lachlan pulled just out of reach with a taunting smile.

"What has you so worked up today?" he asked. His eyes moved pointedly from my own to my erection, which was rock-hard and flushed dark. I was so worked up that my fingers were starting to tingle from reduced blood flow.

I bit my lip and looked away, debating how to answer. I debated too long, and he gently took hold of my chin and turned me back to face him. His eyes searched mine, then he shrugged. "Fine. I don't mind waiting."

No! I couldn't bear to wait. I slid out from under Lachlan – easy to do since he was hovering tauntingly over me without making any actual contact – and flipped myself over. I leaned down on my forearms with my bum sticking up in the air, and I knew from Lachlan's little gasp that he could see the little handle sticking out between my cheeks.

I looked back at Lachlan and found exactly the expression I had dreamed of. His pupils were blown out and his eyes had taken on an intensity that sent a shiver up my spine. His hands found my hips and he grasped me firmly before pulling me closer to the edge of the bed.

"I hope you know what you've started," he said. His words sounded oddly formed, and a quick glance confirmed that his teeth had extended. Excitement shot through me and I finally grinned in absolute bliss. Looked like my plans would work out, after all.

"Sure you can keep up?" I taunted. I turned my head back and rested my forehead on the bed, eyes shut so I could focus on my other senses.

Lachlan's fingers dug a little deeper into my skin for just a second before he released me. Next came the sound of his clothes hitting the floor. I waited for what felt like ages, hearing only the sound of Lachlan's breathing and feeling nothing but anticipation. Then, without any warning, he drew out the plug just a little, tilted it, and pushed it back in. He repeated that, changing the angle by degrees, until a gasp I couldn't bite back told him he'd found my prostate. Lachlan didn't waste any time pressing deeper for just a second, then gently thrusting the plug in and out of me, keeping the angle just right.

My breath started coming in gasps and my hips moved despite my efforts at control. Lachlan's free hand snaked around my waist and locked onto my erection, and it only took a single pump – with his thumb pressing against the sensitive skin under the head – before an orgasm hit me hard. Lachlan chuckled and pumped me through my release.

Once the spasming calmed, I collapsed to the bed, already feeling that wonderful weightlessness that comes with really good sex even though he hadn't even gotten into me yet. Lachlan rolled me over and tugged me the last couple of inches so my bum was at the edge of the bed. His shorter height worked in our favor for this one thing – standing next to the bed, he was exactly at the right level to enter me. Lachlan disappeared for just a few seconds and returned with a bottle of lube. He reached down and finally pulled out the wonderful, torturous plug before coating himself generously as I watched.

I was two orgasms ahead of him already, but my body responded instantly to the heat in his eyes and the sight of him touching himself. He wiped his hand on the blanket – something I'd probably care about later, but right now I could hardly focus on anything but him. Lachlan stepped forward and lined himself up, then pushed into me in one smooth motion.

I had chosen a plug that was a little smaller than he was, so I still got a bit of that hot stretching sensation I'd come to associate with impending pleasure. I didn't need more than a few seconds to adjust, which was good since Lachlan didn't give me more than that before he drew back and started a hard, rhythmic pounding. I hooked my legs around his waist and every few thrusts, I pulled him in harder. Something about the broken pattern and about the way his eyes squeezed shut every time I did it worked me up even more than I already had been.

When Lachlan's eyes were open, they were fixed on me, and the pleasure of his touch, the perfect angle he was hitting, and most of all, the intimacy of his gaze had my hard length weeping against my stomach, though by all rights it should be fairly drained by now. I propped myself up on my elbows and Lachlan leaned down to kiss me, his tongue absolutely dominating mine as he took his pleasure using my body. I sucked on his bottom lip, then bit it softly, and Lachlan slammed into me so hard I saw stars.

"God, Magnus," Lachlan groaned. "I'm not gonna last."

"Let go," I whispered.

And he did. Lachlan straightened while I dropped back onto the bed, and he grabbed my hips so he could pull me onto him even as he thrust. It only took a few strong slams of his hips against me when his movements became jerky. Lachlan's expression in release had always been a beautiful sight, with his eyes closing and his neck tendons standing out in tension – in fact, his whole body tensed, and his chest and arms looked incredibly defined. So toned and strong even though by rights he should be twiggy and lean. The look and feel of him releasing himself in me threw me over the edge one last time, until we were both limp and smiling sappily at each other.

"You're perfect," Lachlan said. "Thank you for tonight."

"Thank you," I said emphatically. Three orgasms and a home-cooked meal certainly outweighed my efforts. I tugged Lachlan down onto the bed next to me and he came willingly, settling against me with his head on my shoulder and his arms and legs wrapped around me. I curved my body into his and latched on just as thoroughly. In that moment, I didn't ever want to let go.

--

The next day, I cleared my whole afternoon and eagerly waited for Felix to call. He, Everett, and their two – gosh, I loved that they had two! – kids had gotten back from the Neruda pack last night, but Felix had made me and Mel swear to let them adjust to being home and get settled in. We weren't supposed to go to their house until he called and said it was okay.

The wait was killing me.

Okay, not really. I knew I couldn't actually die of anticipation, but I was so excited that it felt like anxiety, and I had been kicked out of my bedroom hours ago since Lachlan was trying to work and I was – I'll admit – a bit of a distraction.

But how was he so calm? My brother had a new baby. We had a niece! I just wanted to meet her... and snuggle her, and play with her little toes, and maybe play that game where you make crazy faces at babies while they giggle and laugh. How old did a baby need to be before they found expressions amusing? Eh, didn't matter. I'd be happy just being allowed to hold her, but Felix wasn't calling and it was already one o'clock!

Mel and I were in the living room, and she checked her phone at least as often as I did. Jason was supposed to call soon, too, and it was obvious she was starting to get impatient. I didn't mind, though. We had a game of Monopoly spread out on the coffee table in front of us, and when Mel was agitated, she started making bad choices. She'd already forgotten to collect rent on her hotel when I landed on it and had forgotten to collect her Go! money, so I was starting to catch up to her.

I put up my first hotel just as Mel's phone buzzed and we both jolted. Jason's face lit up her screen, which was hugely disappointing (since he wasn't Felix calling to let us meet our niece), but I wasn't disappointed for long. Mel glared at me as I placed my hotel and she answered her phone with, "Jason, give me a minute. This brat thinks he can beat me at Monopoly."

"Put him on speaker!" I said. I could hear him through the phone either way – and he could hear me – but it felt more inclusive if he was actually on speaker.

Mel did, setting her phone between us before rolling the dice. She landed directly on my new hotel and I whooped in celebration. "You're gonna lose!" I told her.

Jason knew better than to laugh, but he sounded amused as he said, "I take it everything's going well over in Tourmaline?"

"Peachy," Mel growled, setting off another round of laugher from me. My next roll took me to Free Parking, where I picked up a stack of money that had been collecting since the start of the game. At that point, Mel rubbed her knuckles on the top of my head and said, "Fine, you win. This time. You know it's all luck, anyhow."

"You're just saying that 'cuz you lost," I taunted, but I got up and decided to see if Lachlan was ready to take a break. I didn't make it to the stairs before my phone rang – it was Felix.

"Mel!" I hollered, and she yelped.

"Quit it! I'm literally right next to you."

"Sorry!" I answered the call and put it on speaker, holding it between myself and my sister while we both stared down eagerly.

"Hello?" came Felix's voice, and I realized we were both too excited and hadn't said anything.

"Hi!" I said while Mel said, "Please say we can come over now."

I laughed at her impatience, and I was feeling so giddy with excitement that it came out almost like a giggle. Mel's eyes lit up even brighter and I knew she was sorting through all kinds of teasing comments in her mind, trying to pick the best one. Felix spoke before she could decide.

"Yeah, come on over." Mel and I kicked into gear. She ran for the door and slid her feet most the way into her shoes, and she was out the door before I even made it to the stairwell. I cursed out loud and hollered, "Lachlan! We have to go now!" up toward the bedroom even as I hurried up the stairs.

"Calm down!" Felix said. "The last thing we need is you hurting yourself."

Only, just as he said that, my foot landed on the edge of the stair instead of the middle. I wobbled for a precarious second and thought I had managed to catch myself, but then I went sliding down. My elbow banged into the wall, but that was the worst of it.

Lachlan appeared at the top of the stairs, his eyes wide with alarm. When he saw me sprawled at the bottom no worse for the wear, he rolled his eyes and picked up the phone I had dropped in the middle of the stairwell. "Hello?" he said.

"Lachlan? Is Magnus alright?" Felix asked. I noted with mild annoyance that he didn't seem particularly concerned.

Lachlan looked to me for confirmation and I nodded. "He's fine. We'll see you soon, okay?"

"See if you can keep my brother out of trouble," Felix said before hanging up.

I was still sprawled on the ground and I watched Lachlan approach me, torn between annoyance and excitement. The excitement won out and I pushed myself to my feet just as he hit the bottom. "Ready?" I asked.

"Ready," Lachlan answered. He held out his hand and I took it. Within seconds I was pulling him along quicker and I even managed to get him into a light jog when we made it outside.

"Is the running necessary?" Lachlan asked.

"Mel's probably already there!" I explained.

"Then why don't we slow down, give her a few minutes with Marla?"

"Whose side are you on?" I demanded, and picked up a little more speed.

Lachlan let go of my hand and for a horrible moment I thought he was upset, but then he broke into a sprint and grinned at me over his shoulder. "Race you!" he said over our link. I laughed in delight and ran after him.

We made it to Felix's in a few minutes. He and Everett lived in a cabin tucked in the woods just far enough away from the pack house to give them some privacy. Everett's mother lived in another cabin about a mile further out. The woman was a sweetheart, but she was a bit of a hermit except when it came to her daycare work. Even though I liked her just fine, I really hoped she wouldn't be at Felix's. She would be one more person to share my new niece with.

Lachlan's fingers were about to brush the front door when it opened, and he stumbled a little as he tried and failed to stop. I grabbed him around his waist and we both collapsed in a heap on the doorstep. I looked up at Everett, who was holding a red-eyed Griffin, and he lifted one brow in this truly impressive inquisitive expression that was unique to him. It made me feel like I had to explain everything – and not in the way Luin did it. This wasn't magic or compulsion, but good old-fashioned social pressure.

"We were racing," I said.

Everett's lips twitched before he broke out a wide smile. "I see. Well, come in."

Lachlan and I helped each other up and I followed him into the house. When I went to pass Everett and Griffin, Griffin grabbed my shirt. "Uncle Magnus, you don't like my sister better, do you?"

I gaped at him, horrified, and reached out. Everett passed him over to me without any fuss. "Never!" I promised. "Griffin, don't you know how special you are?"

Griffin had buried his face in my neck, but I could feel that he was shaking his head no. "And don't you know how much I love you?" I added.

Griffin's small form dissolved into sobs and I hugged him as hard as I dared, looking to Everett for some kind of guidance. He just grimaced at me and shrugged. "We're going through an adjusting period," he said.

I winced. This was completely outside my experience. I had been the baby in the family- I had never felt like a baby might take my place in my families' lives and I had no idea what might make him feel better right now. I did know that Griffin needed me, so I took him outside and sat down on the porch bench.

A while later, after the tears had stopped, Griffin said, "Everyone wants to see my sister and not me."

And I felt awful, since I had thought only of Marla when I came here. "It's just because she's new. Everyone's excited to meet her. That doesn't mean we care about you any less."

Griffin shrugged.

Well, if I had learned anything about kids, it was that distraction worked. I mentally kissed goodbye to my time with Marla and said, "Why don't we build a Lego castle in the living room? I bet your dad wouldn't mind."

Griffin pulled away now, his eyes bright. "You think?"

The Legos had been an issue lately since Griffin wasn't great about cleaning them up, leaving his unsuspecting parents to step on them. "Yeah! We'll have to promise to put them away when we're done, though."

Griffin was already scrambling off my lap and running into the house, so I wasn't sure he'd heard me... but at least he wasn't crying anymore. I hurried in after him.
