"Holy shit Kara, this place is haunted." Jimin's eyes widened as he searched through his empty pockets.

"Or.." She rolled her eyes. "Someone stole it from you when we weren't paying attention."

"Do you maybe think Celine Dion took it?" Jimin pursed his lips together before looking over to see Kara's judging eyes. "What?"

"The fact that you were so afraid to let me hold the necklace, yet you're the one who ended up losing it."

Jimin raised his brows while Kara angrily pointed at his chest for every word she yelled.

"That right there." Jimin glanced up and down at her finger. "—is abuse."

"The auction starts in half an hour." Kara panicked, staring at the clock from across the crowded room.

"Namjoon's gonna murder me." Jimin grabbed a fistful of his hair. "And he's gonna do it in French."

"No!" Kara grabbed both of his shoulders. "We're going to find the necklace, okay?

"Okay." He let out a deep breath, and followed her gaze as she turned around.

"Maybe you're right." She lowered her brows. "It could be Célia Deville for all we know.."

"And if it is?" He raised his shoulders. "How the hell are we just gonna ask her if she stole from us?"

"We?" Kara chuckled. "I think you meant you." She gave him a friendly smile, earning a glare back.

"Okay.." Jimin lightly sang. "But don't act surprised when you see me in handcuffs for harassment."

"Go you cry baby." Kara slightly smirked as she watched him turn away. She decided one person looking wasn't enough, and thought it would be helpful to search around the place.

She licked her lips while scanning the room with sharp eyes. Everyone seemed busy chatting, not leaving her with many suspicions. Just as Kara turned on her heel, another body hit her chest.

"Oh hey Namjoon." Kara faked a smile, while trying to spot Jimin at the same time.

"Can I see the necklace real quick?" He asked the dreaded question. "I wanted to take some more pictures before the auction starts."

Kara's face went pale as she looked around for some kind of miracle. Her eyes brightened once she found Jimin standing by the chocolate fountain. "It's with him." She pointed in Jimin's direction.

"I'll be right back." Namjoon flashed a friendly smile, as he rushed over to the snack table. Kara covered her mouth as she watched Namjoon start speaking to Jimin. Part of her felt so guilty, while the other half was trying not burst out laughing.

"Jimin." Namjoon called out as he approached the startled boy.

"Uh—I'm busy." Jimin tried to get away with his hands full of sweets.

"Eating isn't important right now." Namjoon said, grabbing Jimin by his shirt and pulling him back.

"I need the necklace." He extended his hand, bringing his fingers forward as he was becoming impatient.

"Who says I have it." Jimin casually mumbled as he dug his fork into another piece of cake.

"Kara did.."

With one cough, the cake was on the floor, along with Jimin himself.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Namjoon rested on his knees as he tried to help a choking Jimin. He successfully helped him off the floor, handing him some water to help with his cough.

Jimin chugged half of the bottle, before tossing it to the side. "Kara said what now?"

"I asked her if she had the necklace, and she said you had it." Namjoon repeated for the millionth time. "I don't have time for this Jimin, hand it over."

"I'm afraid I can't do that." Jimin innocently spoke as his friend gave him a dumbfounded look.

"What do you mean you can't do that?"

"I swallowed the fucking necklace and now I have to wait to shit it out." Jimin mumbled as he grabbed a new slice of cake. "Can I eat this in peace?"

"You swallowed the necklace?" His cheeks went red, eyebrows furrowed together. "How the hell do you just accidentally swallow a necklace."

"Who said it was an accident?" Jimin shut both his eyes as he turned his face to the side. "Fuck you Kara." He whispered underneath his breath.

"Why would you purposely swallow a necklace that you know we need! Exactly how stupid are you?"

"Damn, I like that metal taste. Don't judge me bro." Jimin crossed his arms, before making eye contact with Kara.

His lips formed a straight line as he slowly shook his head. She gave him an apologetic smile, when some one caught her attention.

"Oh my god, the necklace." Kara whispered in disbelief as she saw it around a young girls neck.

"Jimin!" She tried to whisper and shout at the same time, successfully getting his focus on her. "It's the necklace!" Kara mouthed as she pointed to the little girl.

"Holyyyy fucking shit dude, I feel that necklace moving down my digestive system." Jimin patted Namjoon's back, before running off.

Kara and Jimin began to walk, meeting at the middle of the room. "Let's go teach this lil girl a lesson." He aggressively cracked his knuckles, before making his way to where she stood.

"Hey!"

The younger girl looked behind her with glistening eyes.

"I like your necklace, where'd you get it from?" He changed the tone of his voice as he beamed a fake smile.

"I don't know you sir." She lowered her brows when Jimin rested on his knee.

"Let me introduce myself then." Jimin offered and the little girl nodded her head with interest. "I'm Jimin and this is my wife Barbara."

Kara gave Jimin an unamused glare as he brought his arm around her shoulder. The little girl pursed her lips together as she stared at the two adults. "I think you're really pretty miss."

"Thank you." Kara smiled as her cheeks warmed up.

Jimin couldn't help but smile at Kara's reaction to compliments. It was the purest thing ever.

"Listen kid, I don't think that necklace belongs to you." Jimin pointed at the expensive piece, as the younger girl's eyes followed.

"But it's mine." She frowned and crossed her arms.

"Would you look at that— someone wants to have an attitude." He bit his lip in frustration. "That's not for you and you know that you thief."

"I'm not a thief, you're a thief!" She rested her hand over the necklace. "You're just trying to steal my necklace!"

People around them began to turn and look at the commotion. Jimin nervously laughed as he got up from his knees. "I swear, if we weren't in public, I would choke you."

"Jimin." Kara harshly nudged him in the ribs. "Let me handle it."

"Hi darling." Kara smiled at the young girl. "That necklace you've got there is beautiful. Is it okay if I see it up close?"

The girl leaned closer, and Jimin let out an irritated breath as he slightly turned. "Never let me have any children."

"Can I hold the necklace please?" She tried to ask again, in a more clear form.

She shook her head.

"Why not?" Kara pouted.

"Because doody head is gonna steal it."

Kara nearly choked as she tried to hold her laughter inside, and turned to Jimin who squinted his eyes.

"What's your name baby?" She asked the stubborn girl.

"Lily." She exaggerated the vowels.

"That's a beautiful name." Kara's lips curved into a smile and the girl shyly turned her face. "Thank you."

"I wanna talk to you about something important to me Lily. Is that okay?" She asked, and the younger girl quickly nodded.

"I was your age once. I remember all I wanted to do was grow up. I would take my mom's jewelry to try on, and sometimes I'd even wear her heels around the house."

"That's funny." Lily giggled.

"Right?" Kara chuckled with a smile. "I would just keep dreaming about the day I could drive my own car, or buy my own mansion. That was all I could ever think about. But there was one problem." She changed her expression, as the little girl did.

"What?" She slightly pouted.

"My dad left us when I was six. He was the one who brought all the money into the house. When he left, there was no more money for my mother and I. He took everything."

"Then what happened?"

"My mother started to steal. That's how she got food for us to survive. But, she got caught one time. The police said that if they ever caught her stealing, she would be put in jail. What did she do then?" Kara's lips slightly trembled as she tried to smile.

"She made me steal for her."

Jimin eye's wouldn't leave her blue one's. He just silently sat there, listening to every word she said.

"I stole so much, that it became an everyday thing for me." She shrugged her shoulders. "Of course, that didn't last for either of us. My mother and I were homeless a couple years later. It wasn't long before she left me too. Ive been alone for over half my life."

Lily could barely blink as her face turned pale. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be." Kara tried to smile. "Bad things happen to us whether we like it or not. We can't control that, but.. I'll tell you what I could've done."

"I could've gotten a job, instead of spending the next 18 years stealing from innocent people." Kara gave her a look and a wave of guilt hit the young girl.

"I don't want you to turn out like me." Kara took Lily's small hand in hers. "You're better then that, and I know you'll do the right thing and give the necklace back to us."

Lily quickly brought her hands up to the claps of the shimmering necklace. She struggled to get it off, but finally had the jewelry in her palm. "Here you go."

"I'm really proud of you Lily." Kara gently rubbed her cheek, before taking the necklace from her.

"Wait." Lily tugged on Kara's dress, just as she was turning around. "I-I just wanted to say, that I don't think everything in your life went bad. You're very pretty, you're nice to me, and you have a husband that loves you a lot, I'm sure."

Kara immediately smiled and her cheek muscles began to burn. "You think so?" She looked over at Jimin, seeing his soft expression.

"I know." She quickly nodded. "He loves you really really really a lot. I think maybe more than anyone."

"Well thank you Lily." Kara pulled her into a hug as the girls arms were around her legs. "I'm glad I met you."

"I'm glad I met you too." She giggled, before waving back and forth. "Bye."

"Bye." Kara gave her quick wave as she walked back towards Jimin. She let out a deep sigh, and held the necklace out with a gentle smile. "There you go."

"I don't want the necklace." Jimin mumbled under his breath as he continued watching her.

"What?" She furrowed her brows, not able to hear a word he said.

Jimin gently cupped her face in his hands, as he stared into her eyes; dreamy and innocent. She glanced over at his hand, which slightly tilted her chin up. "You're so much more than what you say you are." He gently whispered to her.

"And what is that?" Kara's voice was soft as she spoke back to him.

"You're a strong, beautiful, independent woman, who doesn't need anyone telling her otherwise."
