3 months later.
Kara's POV
If someone asked me three months ago, whether I thought my life would be like one of those fairytales, where the lonely girl meets her Prince Charming, falls in love, then move away together into a magical castle, I would've told them they're delusional as fuck. But it happened. It actually happened. Except, replace Prince Charming with this idiot.
3rd POV (standard)
"It's March! Why the fuck is it snowing?" Jimin lifted his hand as the snow flakes melted in his palm.
"You just had to pick North Dakota."
"stfu Namjoon."
Namjoon lowered the magazine he was reading as he furrowed his brows with confusion.
"Actually, that was me." The gardener nervously lifted his hand.
"Oh.." Jimin paused, before turning back around. "wait-- why the fuck are you even here? What are you watering.. the snow??"
"You called him to shovel the driveway, remember?" Kara rested her hand on Jimin's shoulder and pulled him inside their house. "You really need to start being a little more nice to your workers. Don't forget you were broke like three months ago."
"Four months ago." He corrected her. "And let's not speak of those times. Namjoon's still poor you know." Jimin whispered.
Kara rolled her eyes, walking away from Jimin and into their shared bedroom. She sighed as she touched the silky bed covers. Switching to such an extravagant lifestyle from a previously poor one so suddenly isn't as easy as it seems. "This feels like a dream." Kara whispered to herself.
"Ow!" Kara squealed as Jimin pinched her.
"Nope, you're awake." He reassured her, before falling back onto the bed. "Come here wifey." Jimin mumbled into the pillow as he tapped the spot next to him.
"Fiancée." Kara teasingly corrected him as she rested on the bed next to him. Jimin moved his arm around her stomach and pulled her closer to him.
"You miss Paris, don't you."
"N-No." Kara laughed as she shrugged it off. He gave her a look that said I'm not buying it. "I'm happy here Jimin. I mean, this is everything I ever wanted. It's just a little over whelming to me." She turned herself so her eyes met his. "This is like a new chapter of my life and I don't even know where to begin. I mean, I've never lived a normal life before. It's new to me."
"Kara, you think I'm used to the millionaire lifestyle?" Jimin gently ran his fingers through her hair. "We're both starting a new chapter of our lives together. You're not alone in this. Trust me." He kissed her forehead and got up from the bed.
"Thanks." Kara smiled as she reached over to her bedside table. She lowered her brows when she saw the time 7:00 pm written down on a sticky note. "What's at 7?" She lifted the sticky note to show Jimin.
"Oh, my parents are coming over for dinner." He casually responded.
"WHAT!" Kara nearly choked as she jumped out of bed.
"Yeah, so be ready by like 6:59." He looked down at his watch and started to walk away.
"Jimin, that's in two hours! Why didn't you tell me that your parents were coming over? I'm not mentally prepared for that!" Kara nervously bit her nails as she paced back and forth.
Jimin raised his brows, shocked at Kara's reaction. "Chill baby." He put his arm around her shoulder. "Everything will be fine." He reassured with a smile.
Kara let out a sigh of relief as she tried to calm down.
"Although, I should mention that my parents have no clue that I went to Paris, stole my grandfathers necklace, become a millionaire, got married to a French girl, and live in a mansion.. so that'll be an interesting dinner topic." His lips barely formed a smile before he tried to rush out of the room. Kara grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him back.
"You can't just throw that information onto your parents all at once!" Kara crossed her arms.
"I never said I was doing it..." Jimin gave her a petty shrug.
"Well, I'm not.. so who's gonna tell them?" Kara raised one brow, before both of them glanced out the window.
There stood Kim Namjoon, peacefully minding his own business as he played with the falling snow. Jimin looked at Kara and nodded his head. "Let's do this."
"hm hmm hm hmm." Namjoon hummed to himself as he enjoyed being unbothered. But that feeling of joy soon came to an end when he saw Jimin and Kara walking towards him.
"Damn it." Namjoon mumbled as he waddled over to the couple, while wearing his heavy snow pants. "Not to make any assumptions or anything, but ya'll look suspicious as hell and I feel like you're about to ask me to do something that won't benefit me at all."
"I'll admit, he's good.." Kara slowly shook her head.
"Jeez Namjoon, stop being such a smart ass and guess wrong for once." Jimin crossed his arms.
"So I was right!" Namjoon had an aha moment.
"We've established that." Jimin rolled his eyes. "Just come with us." He grabbed Namjoon's arm and led him into the warm house. He removed his snow clothes, revealing the dry ones underneath. "So what's this about." He sat on the royal green chair.
"That's my favorite chair.." Jimin narrowed his eyes. "But I'll let it slide this time." He sat beside Kara who was already losing her patience.
"Okay, let's discuss more important manners.. like what we're gonna tell your parents when they arrive in one hour and forty seven minutes." Kara looked up from her watch and glared at Jimin.
"Your parents are visiting?" Namjoon pursed his lips together and smiled.
"Well yeah, but.." Jimin scratched his head. "Um I haven't exactly told them about anything that's happened in the last couple months so..."
"Then tell them." Namjoon shrugged his shoulder before tossing a grape in his mouth.
"I can't." Jimin shook his head.
"Why not."
"Because I just can't."
"But why—"
"LISTEN YOU BASTARD."
"Woah woah woah." Kara held Jimin back. "Let's just all calm down."
"I'm calm." Namjoon innocently muttered.
"I was directing that at Jimin." Kara explained, before giving him a nervous smile. "Go on."
Jimin cleared his throat before speaking. "Both of my parents have NO idea that I even went to Paris, let alone stole my grandfathers necklace from our attic. They don't know I'm married to a random ass French chick... no offense baby." He rubbed her thigh.
"None taken."
"—and they don't know that I'm a millionaire! So how the hell am I supposed to explain all of that to them??"
"So where do I fit into all—" Namjoon suddenly stopped speaking and squinted his eyes. "You want me to lie for you, don't you?"
"I mean, yeah.. but it's kinda more complicated than that." Jimin nervously said. "I need you and Kara to pretend you guys are a happily married couple who also happen to be millionaires with a little knowledge of French and shit." Jimin looked at Namjoon and then at Kara who was also surprised.
"You never said that!" Kara complained.
"I did too." Jimin crossed his arms.
"You want us to pretend it's our house?" Namjoon looked over at Kara. "How are we supposed to fake being married?!"
"It's not that hard. Just call her sweetie whenever they're around and do couple shit." Jimin tried his best to explain.
"How much am I getting paid for this?" Namjoon furiously asked. "Because if you think I'm doing this for free—"
"Here." Jimin pulled out a couple hundred dollars.
"What about me?" Kara frowned as she saw Namjoon joyfully grab the money.
"Oh, you're getting something else baby." Jimin licked his lips seductively. He reached into his pocket and walked towards her. "Here's a coupon for a McDonalds combo meal." He slapped it against her thigh and winked.
Kara scoffed at him as she crumbled the coupon in her hand.
"Chop chop!" Jimin clapped. "They're going to be here in less than two hours people! Get a move on!"
"I still don't get why he can't tell them about us."
"Don't worry about it Kara." Namjoon patted her on the back, before looking in the mirror to adjust his tie. "He's just got his own, strange technique of handling things. We gotta let the man do his thing."
"His way of things is lying to his parents." Kara frowned. "It's almost as if he's embarrassed to tell them about me."
"Probably." Namjoon nodded, but choked once he realized what he said. "Um, I mean—most definitely NOT." He smiled.
"So I was thinking that we could—" Jimin's words faded as he appeared by the doorway. "You okay baby?" He noticed Kara's face.
"Yeah, everything's fine." She smiled, but he wasn't buying any of her bullshit.
"You don't have to lie about that kind of stuff with me anymore." Jimin looked down at her glistening eyes. "You know that right?"
"I know." Kara looked down to his lips, then back to his eyes. "It's just that—"
"JIMIN!" Namjoon shouted as he slid into the room all panicky.
"What??" Kara and Jimin both shouted, startled.
"THEY'RE EARLY!"
"Those bastards." Jimin had an offended look on his face as he looked out the window.
"Your parents?" Namjoon raised his brow.
"No. The dipshit who let them inside." Jimin sighed as he moved away from the windows. "It's your time to shine." He harshly patted Namjoon's shoulder.
"Holy shit holy shit." He paced back and forth. "I don't know if I'm ready for this. Let's just practice being a couple." Namjoon grabbed Kara's hand.
Kara raised her brow, waiting for him to say his practicing lines.
"Y-You look l-lovely tonight, my w-wife.. WHO JUST SO HAPPENS TO LIVE IN THIS MANSION WITH ME WITH A LOT OF MONEY AND WE'RE NOT SUSPICIOUS AT ALL." He wiped the sweat off his forehead and nervously smiled.
"Oh my God, we're dead." Kara shook her head.
"NO." Jimin grabbed both of their hands and pulled them towards the spiraling staircase. "You're fine and you guys are gonna do great. Now hold hands and act like a damn couple." He spoke through his teeth.
"MOM, DAD." He nervously greeted them once he turned around.
"We've missed you so much!" His parents pulled him into a hug. "This is a beautiful place you've got." His dad looked past Jimin's shoulder.
"Thanks." All three of them said at the same time.
Namjoon looked over at Jimin with confused eyes.
"Shit." Jimin whispered to himself. "I forgot to give myself the damn pep talk."
"Thanks for noticing how nice of a house my friend has." Jimin smiled at his parents, before turning to Namjoon. "You don't know how bad that hurt to say."
"Hang in there buddy." Namjoon pushed Jimin to the side. "Greetings." He bowed. "This is I and my wife Kara. She comes from— somewhere in Paris and we live happily together in this house of ours—"
"Enough." Jimin hissed under his breath.
"Nice to meet you Kara." Mrs Park greeted her with a smile.
"Nice to meet you both." Kara's lips formed a smile, but it soon faded when she turned to Namjoon. "Is there a reason why you're holding onto my hand so tightly?" She aggressively whispered.
"It's cold." Namjoon gave her an innocent shrug.
"Let's eat." Jimin broke the awkward silence and led his parents into the dining room. They all got seated with their food served in front of them.
"So, tell me Namjoon." Mr Park started to speak, gaining everyone's attention. "What kind of job do you have? You know, to get a house as beautiful as this."
"I'm a cashier at Dave's Donuts." Namjoon casually said, before his eyes widened. "I MEAN.. that was back in my high school days." He chuckled. "I'm.. a NASA spaceship craft engineer mechanic worker."
"You're kidding?" Mr Park raised his brow.
"YES!" Kara blurted out.
"You're a funny guy, aren't you?" He laughed at Namjoon. "So really, what is it that you do?"
"I'm a doctor."
"He's a lawyer."
Kara and Namjoon slowly turned to each other, as they both nervously laughed.
"So which one is it??"
"Both." Jimin quickly saved them before they could make things any worse. "He does minor law work part time. Doctor, full time."
"Exactly." Namjoon nodded his head, before stuffing his mouth with food so that he wouldn't have to answer any more questions.
"I'm gonna check on the pie." Jimin set his fork down as he got up from his seat. "Kara, would you mind helping me for a minute?"
"Will you excuse me." She gave the parents a polite smile before rushing into the kitchen. Kara found Jimin by the counter, crossing his arms.
"That was all Namjoon's fault." Kara quickly said before he could blame her for anything.
"Lawyer?? Really?" Jimin squinted his eyes. "What kind of lawyer stutters like a little girl?!"
"I had to step in before he said something else along the lines of working for NASA!" Kara defended herself.
"It's just another hour." Jimin sighed as he glanced down at his watch. "Oh God. I don't know how long we'll be able to keep this up."
"There's nothing for you to worry about." Kara stood in front of him as she grabbed his hands. "We've got this, okay?" She lifted her heels off the floor and softly kissed his lips. Kara pulled away, when Jimin gently grabbed her face, letting their lips meet again.
"Oh my God."
Jimin's hands quickly left Kara's face as they both turned to the startled voice. "I can explain." Jimin looked over at his mom and back at Kara.
"What's going on in here?" Mr Park walked into the kitchen, with Namjoon being him.
"Are you having an affair with your best friends wife?" Mrs Park crossed her arms, making her husband gasp. "What?"
They both turned to Namjoon who was just chillin.
He suddenly remembered his role in all this. "YOU CHEATED ON ME WITH THAT LITTLE SHIT!"
"What do you both have to say?"
Jimin gulped as he looked around the room. He glanced at Kara who nodded at him. "Listen, I've been lying to you guys this whole time."
"What do you mean?" Mr Park furrowed his brows.
"I mean..." Jimin stepped forward. "Kara isn't really married to Namjoon."
"She's married to me."
His parents gasped, along with Namjoon.
"You're telling us, she's not really your wife?" They looked at Namjoon.
"Yup." He nodded.
"There's more." Jimin interrupted. "This house isn't Namjoon's house. It's for me and Kara. We moved here a couple months ago, and I just pretended it was Namjoon's because I felt guilty for not telling you guys that I got married or even left for Paris—"
"YOU WENT WHERE?!"
"Oh shit." Jimin muttered. "Yeah.. remember when I told you guys I was spending my winter break with Namjoon and some friends.. I was really going to Paris. And that's where I found my beautiful wife." He looked at Kara.
"Why didn't you just tell us?" Mrs Park asked, still kind of confused.
"I didn't want you guys to try and stop me from living my own life. I wouldn't be here right now if I didn't lie to you all. And I'm sorry for lying. I know how disappointed you guys must be, but this is my life now. I can't hide it from you anymore."
His parents looked at each other and back at their son. "We're not disappointed in you Jimin."
"You're not?"
"No. We're pissed off." She shrugged. "But hey, at least we know that you're happy and living a life that you enjoy." She pulled her son into her arms.
"I'm so happy for him." Kara wiped underneath her eyes, stopping any tears from falling.
"I know." Namjoon sniffled, before biting into a chicken leg.
"Wait a damn minute." Mrs Park, pulled away from from the hug and looked around. "Where the hell did you get the money for this place?" She crossed her arms.
"Thats a longgg ass story." Jimin nervously laughed as he scratched his head. "Yeah, you're gonna need to sit down for this."
10 years later.
"And that, my children, is the story of how a young idiot and a wise thief fell deeply in love. Despite all their differences."
