No One POV
Silence passed over the cavern as soon as Frea shouted the word, her voice even echoed off the walls a little. Her tone was cold and commanding, so much so that even the Dragon fell silent at the one spoken word. None of the Fairy Tail Mages knew what she had shouted, the phrase having been in some language some of them didn't even recognize, but a few of the present Dragon Slayers quickly realized it was the Dragon Language.
All Fairy Tail Mages were staring at Frea with their jaws dropped, too shocked at her actions to be able to fully piece it together. The Dragon went deathly quiet as it leaned its head down to peer closer at Frea, who didn't even move when it did so.
Frea and the Dragon simply stared each-other down for a moment, neither one of them moving and neither one of them doing anything but glaring at one another.
The people watching had to give Frea some credit though, she didn't even flinch or jump when the Dragon had appeared, unlike the rest of them had done.
Suddenly the Dragon lifted its head up as its lips drew into a smile and it started laughing.
Laughing
Everyone besides Frea and Wendy, who had her eyes closed as she kept the spell going, everyone else's jaws literally hit the floor at the action from the gigantic creature.
"I love seeing people's shocked faces!" The Dragon chuckled and they blinked as it used English for the first time since it appeared. "And you," The Dragon smirked and its head swooped down again, stopping inches from Frea's face.
The Energy Dragon Slayer simply crossed her arms over her chest and stayed silent, quirking an eyebrow at the Dragon.
"You have some guts, I'll give you that." It told Frea. "Its been a long time since anyone ever spoke to me like that." It chuckled more at the thought. "I am a little surprised to hear a human speak in my Language..." It grumbled.
"I know a little." Frea answered. "I just thought speaking in your language would earn a better reaction than if I had spoken to you in English."
The Dragon tilted its head and quirked an eyebrow, before he inhaled deeply and narrowed his eyes at Frea. "Your a Dragon Slayer," it murmured and Frea just stared right back without answering. "I'm interested in what would have driven you to speak to me in such a way? A tone like that could get you killed." The Dragon growled lowly and its teeth were shown a little as it drew his lips back some-what.
"Your mindless rambling was making my headache worse." Frea answered calmly. "I don't care if you are a Dragon," Frea muttered and took a step toward the Dragon, looking calm but her eyes were narrowed. "I would use such a 'tone', as you put it, no matter the circumstances, and no matter the one I was talking to. I could have said something worse and would not have cared."
The Dragon blinked at her answer and everyone sweatdropped around her. Was she seriously trying to push her luck with this Dragon?!
They had all been frozen in place since Frea had shouted, not knowing what exactly it was she had said. Though they were fairly shocked to see her conversing with the Dragon in such a way; and a little put off by her attitude toward the Massive Creature.
"Perhaps we could have a civil conversation?" Frea suggested. The Dragon smiled a little and looked Frea over, still not lifting its head.
"You impress me." It murmured. "I have seen that attitude in one of my kin before, a long time ago." It told her and Frea remained calm, though she did blink at the words. "Perhaps a civil conversation will do, for now, even if I am to be speaking with humans."
The Dragon lifted its head away from Frea and in turn looked toward Wendy, lowering its head to the girls level where she still had not moved or said a word.
"Now, the technique that summoned me here must be Grandeeney's." The Dragon grumbled as it looked down at Wendy. "It seems that she is not here... so this little Dragon Slayer summoned me, eh?" The creature asked.
It didn't wait for an answer before lifting its head up again and looking at all of them. "My name is Zirconis, also known as the Dragon of Jade." It introduced itself and tilted its massive head a little. "Why have you called me here?" He asked.
For a minute everyone stood in assembled silence until they managed to shake off their initial shock and cast extremely confused glances between Frea and the Dragon.
"What the hell was that?!"
"How do you know the Dragon Language?!"
"Are you crazy?!"
Frea sighed at the yelled questions and glanced over her shoulder toward her Guild-Mates. They all had confused and shocked faces as they stared at her, and she blinked slowly.
"Relax, you act as if this is my first time speaking to a Dragon." Frea muttered. "I have a serious head-ache from being inside this cave so long, I would prefer to not have had to listen to all that grumbling from him for any longer than I had to." She explained as she gestured a hand at Zirconis.
"Where did you learn to speak that way?" Lily asked.
"What did you say anyway?" Natsu asked as well.
"My Dragon taught me a bit of it." Frea replied and looked away from them, closing her eyes. "As for what I said... In essence, I told him to shut the hell up." The Energy Dragon Slayer explained.
They all sweatdropped at the words, Frea really must be crazy if she even dared to tell a Dragon to shut up.
Well, crazy or stupid. If not that, then extremely bold.
"How about we get back to the matter at hand? He is waiting for us rather patiently." Frea told them, as her eyes opened to rest on the silent Dragon before their group.
They all nodded a little and Carla stepped forward, toward the Dragon.
"What happened here?" She asked.
"This cavern is full of skeletons." Happy murmured.
"We summoned your soul to find out the truth." Lily explained as he stepped forward along with Happy to stand at Carla's shoulder, with Moon just beside him.
"Hm.." Zirconis growled and narrowed his eyes. "It happened over 400 years ago." He began. "Back then, Dragons used to be the kings of the world. We could fly freely, walk the earth, cross the sea..." Zirconis shifted as he settled down on his haunches, lowering his head again to be level with them. "There was prosperity, everything in this world belonged to the Dragons. Human beings were nothing more than our food. Hehe..." Zirconis chuckled and they all narrowed their eyes at him.
"However, a foolish Dragon started to question the sovereignty of our species. He talked nonsense and wanted a world where Dragons and Humans could coexist. A war started between the Dragons who approved of his ideals and the ones who were against them." Zirconis explained.
"Against... Does that mean that you...?" Lucy asked and Zirconis smirked.
"I don't like humans, though I do love them as food." The Dragon snickered as he swiped his tongue over his rows of fangs in the process.
"Your talking to food." Natsu chuckled.
"Don't push your luck!" Frea snapped as she whacked him hard on the shoulder.
"Your one to talk!" Gray and Gajeel yelled at her.
"What happened to the war?" Carla intervened. Zirconis lifted his head and cleared his throat.
"The war continued for a long time. The fights between Dragons ruined many places." Zirconis muttered as he lifted his head higher to stare at the ceiling of the cave instead of looking at them. "Until the Dragons that supported coexistence came up with a foolish strategy." A low growl worked its way into his words as he spoke.
"They taught humans the Magic to slay Dragons... And asked them to join the battle."
Everyone stiffened as the Dragon Slayers eyes went wide upon hearing the story.
"Dragon Slaying Magic..?" Lucy whispered.
"So that's how Dragon Slayers were born?" Moon murmured.
"The power of the Dragon Slayers was immense. It was clear that the Dragons that supported coexistence were going to win." Zirconis continued without stopping as he looked back down at them. "However... There was a miscalculation."
"The Dragon Slayers that had become too powerful... Started to kill the Dragons that were on their side too."
Everyone went deathly still at the words, and they all sweatdropped more.
"And among those humans there was one.. Who bathed in too much Dragon Blood." Zirconis suddenly stopped as he looked scared at the memories. "I'm afraid to even say his name. That 'man' murdered countless Dragons and kept on bathing in their blood. Eventually his skin became scales... His teeth became fangs... And he gradually started to look more like a Dragon."
"A man became a D-Dragon?" Lucy shuddered.
"That is how Dragon Slaying Magic evolves." Zirconis answered the blonde. "All the Dragon's laying here were murdered by that man. Despite being a man, he became the King of Dragons. The war that brought the birth of the King of Dragons... Was called the Festival Of The Dragon King." Zirconis growled.
Frea POV
Frea had grown quite still as she stared up at the Dragon with wide eyes, a bead of sweat rolling down her face. Zirconis came to a pause as he frowned at the memories.
There was no way... It couldn't have...
She didn't know how, but she seemed to be able to guess who that man was... The man who had turned into a Dragon...
But how could she know...?
Frea dropped her gaze to the ground as she clenched her fists and bit her bottom lip, eyes narrowing.
Why would I know...?
Maybe it was the Energy Signature...? Did I somehow unconsciously know that it wasn't right...? That it wasn't completely a Dragon... But a man...?
But it had never even occurred to her at the time... she had never actually realized it... thought of it...
She closed her eyes, "The Dragon King..." She murmured and Zirconis peered down at her.
"Hmm?"
"The Dragon King... That used to be a man... tell me..." Frea trailed off, she opened her eyes and looked up at him, trying to stay as calm as she could.
"Was it Acnologia?"
No One POV
Every one of the Fairy Tail members stiffened at the name, and so did Zirconis. They stared wide-eyed at Frea, trying to wrap their heads around why she would even think of that beast...
Moon was watching silently, tense as she listened. She had searched some of the memories of the others for information of what happened on Tenrou, Natsu and Chase being the two she had used as a base line. She knew what happened. She knew who Acnologia was.
But why had Frea even asked that?
"Yes." Zirconis answered and they all froze. "While being a Dragon he had wings unlike any other Dragon before him, pitch-black wings."
"Wha?!"
"He was...?!" Lucy gasped.
"He used to be human?!" Gray asked.
"No way..." Gajeel murmured.
"He killed all of the Dragons here. This is what happened 400 years ago." Zirconis growled. "Because of you, I was..."
Suddenly the Dragon disappeared into thin air before them, not leaving a trace.
"Hey!" Natsu jumped forward.
"We still have a lot to ask!" Gajeel yelled.
"Wendy?!" Carla asked as she raced up to the Dragon Slayer. Wendy frowned as she opened her eyes and looked away.
"I'm sorry... His aura vanished completely..." Wendy murmured.
"We're talking about something huge here." Gray muttered.
"Too much!" Lucy mumbled.
Frea stayed silent, her bangs casting a shadow across her face. Moon and Chase slowly walked up to her, looking worried.
"Frea?" Moon asked as she touched the Energy Dragon Slayer lightly.
"Teach..." Chase murmured as she came up next to her, looking a little worried and freaked out at the same time. "How did you know about... Acnologia...?" He asked her quietly.
For a long while, Frea didn't look up at him or answer and he frowned more.
"Teach?" He tried again.
Frea looked up and both Chase and Moon's eyes widened when they saw her expression.
Frea's eyes were narrowed, with a frown pulling at her lips. The thing that got them was the worry and confusion sparkling in her eyes.
"I don't know..." She replied quietly, eyes fixed on the ground
"Does it mean that if we use Dragon Slaying Magic too much we become Dragons too?!" Natsu yelled.
"I don't want to!" Gajeel growled.
"O-Oh my...!" Wendy stammered.
Frea POV
"That's impossible."
Everyone's heads snapped to the side at the voice. Frea's eyes widened when she recognized the voice, it was the same one that had stopped the Naval Battle.
"Who is it?!" Wendy called.
"I listened to the whole story. Indeed the historical facts match what we researched. Do you know the demons in Zeref's Book?"
Frea stiffened at the question,
"Acnologia is similar to them. According to a hypothesis, it was Zeref who transformed a man into Acnologia."
"Zeref?!" Happy asked.
"In other words.." They turned to see a man clad in armor with dark hair stop before them with what Frea recognized as Yuikino dressed in a soldiers uniform at his shoulder.
"Destroying Zeref, the original cause of all that is evil.. Would be the first step to defeat Acnologia."
