Part 9. (Finale.)

Disclaimer: I do not own Little Nightmares. I also do not own the Song.

(This is a Little nightmares (video games) fanfic)

(Its Mono-centric)

(Sorry if the characters seem OOC.)

(This takes place after the ending of Little Nightmares 2.)

(Hope you enjoy this little chapter. 😄)

The two stare.

For once, they're alone. Mono stands before the one dropped him, betrayed his trust. Abandoned him.

The betrayal still stings.

Shadows guard around Six, protecting the master from the sensing danger. Mono is stronger, could easily take the girl out.

But he isn't mastered in magic.

"Look. I tried."

Six starts, Mono's eyes twitch-

"YOU TRIED?! YOU LEFT ME TO DIE!"

The raincoat girl glares, arms folded. Her stomach growls, the glitch appearing right behind Mono.

Eat him.

Like on the maw, that damn tune begins playing.

***

It's taking too long.

Grace turns to the sewers, seeing a glitch child guarding the doors. It's kinda fun to see the creature.

"What are you doing?"

Grace jumps back. Mono's shadow floats around in a circle motion, static following his every move.

It's creepy as hell.

"Making then get along." Grace smiles at Cole's annoyed gaze. "It's only fair, it's annoyingly cute."

"Do you ship them?"

"Yeah, ship the couple who fight and have a toxic relationship based off a past fight, then it leads to making love. That is just cliché."

"Hmm, I guess."

Grace stands there, allowing to Cole to gaze inside her soul. It's useful is the enemy knows the truth.

"I hate you."

Grace smiles, snickering with a hand holding her mouth. Making loud noises is fatal.

"I hate you to."

***

With Cole's help, Grace's hatred evolves into something more of an appreciation.

Something that doesn't mean crap apparently.

"Die here or get out alive."

"Aw, don't you have faith?"

"I don't like kids."

"Well, your one to."

Cole grumbled. He isn't denying the claim, the girl's technically right. He's the shadow of a eleven year old child. Mono is a child.

Who he's suspiciously overprotective of.

"Why make them, make up?"

Grace hopped onto a wooden board, staring into the abyss. The signal tower sits right there.

"..I'm sick of the arguments."

"Stupid excuse."

That's it, Grace snaps. She mentally commands a few glitches to pin Cole back. He's so close: he needs to be so far in the rabbit hole.

"I'M LEAVING SOON!"

Cole manages a growl, even when pinned. He has balls, is brave anyway. A foolish move.

Everything silent. You could hear a pin drop.

A soothing term now in Grace's opinion.

"...I made a deal with the Thin Man."

"Why?!"

"It's why he hates me! I didn't mean to get attached to his last self. He knows Mono will hurt, he and Six need to make up so it hurts less. That's my damn purpose. To bring the kids together."

Grace laughs bitterly, tears streaming down her face.

"I'm a tool. It helps. I do this, it gives me death. I'll be reunited with my mama, she died after Mono took her life. She committed suicide for a tv."

Cole knows the hints.

"The remote."

"It controlled the tv. She jumped when Mono turned it off. She couldn't handle really. She forgot about her own family."

A tear slipped down Grace's cheek.

"I don't wish vengeance. I want peace for myself. So I'd make Six and Mono make up, I'm no longer needed in the equation."

Cole asked no questions as the girl left.

He can't interfere with fate.

"Protect Mono."

***

It's not in Mono's nature to want to hurt.

But he wants to hurt Six. The girl who chose to drop him into the abyss. He can't..he can't forgive.

The boy turned to the girl. She looks equally as pissed. Angry, confused. God, how are both so relatable to each other?

Mono and Six are built as the perfect friends.

Literally.

Same past, similar kind of powers, hell, a journey to a tower. To survive the world that wanted them dead. They were survivors.

Damn.

Mono grabs Six's hand. The one with the yellow raincoat looked in a confused manner. Mono spoke the words needed to be said. In his own way.

(A/N:I'm going to get so many hate comments lol. Suck it up, there is a tag on redemption. Don't like it? read a fic where mono doesn't forgive Six.)

"We'll try to get on. You drop me again, we aren't friends forever. Deal?"

Six smiled proudly, trying to look neutral. She allowed Mono's hands to grasp her own. Gosh, she's glad to make up.

"You babies made up then?"

The two turned to see Grace standing there smugly with her arms crossed. Leaning against the wall with a smirk that managed to make even Six glare.

That's actually a common feat.

"You two get some rest. Glad your back, Monix."

Mono gawked at the girl. Grace chuckled quietly.

To readers, yes, I used the ship name.

Six seemed to grumble, but reluctantly layed down, although she pulled Mono next to her possessively.

She isn't gonna let him go just yet.

***

Grace watched them both sleep.

Smiling, she got up to accept her fate. One she made with the entity seemingly months ago. Going out the entrance to the mini den, she saw him.

She saw Thin Man.

Sitting in the chair as part of their deal.

Grace almost bounced in excitement. The child skipped upto Thin Man, finally allowed to see the entity from her dreams up close.

Impressive performance.

"Acting like you didn't like me really paid off."

Thin Man looked down at the child. The one who helped prevent the future of Mono again. As part of their deal, he looks towards the faint figure.

Grace had tears leaking down, seeing someone she missed so, so much. A parental figure long gone.

"Mama?"

BZZZZT!

The child cried in pain, internally begging the entity to make it stop. A few glitch kids stood there, not wanting to let the girl go.

ENOUGH!

Thin Man's simple command makes them stop.

Grace raised her hood, finally accepting to state of her body. The new image is a newly formed glitch.

Glitching, the girl rushed over to the parent.

The mother hugged her child close. The one who she finally reunited with in death. Close to tears, she turned to the entity.

"Thank you."

Thin Man nodded, glad Mono received help. These human were for his own personal gain. But there's one thing bothering the older male.

A warm feeling blossomed inside his chest.

Enjoy the after life.

Grace squealed, clinging too her mother. She smiled at the Thin Man, now considering the bad guy good.

"Goodbye."

The Thin Man waves back. He sees the pair enter a world beyond his understanding, but one he still respects nonetheless.

Goodbye, Grace.

***

Mono wake the next morning, waiting until Six did to start setting off on another day of surviving.

She grasps his hand close, Mono oddly not minding.

"Where's Grace?"

Six hands him a paper, having scratch written from a broken stick. The looks she gives implies how Mono's going to feel after.

Dear Mono,

I hope you and Six have a happy life. You two have given me the best days of mine, even with the occasional, stupid arguments.

To explain, I made a deal with your dear companion, Thin Man days after I lost my mama. He took and I lost all hope in mind, becoming a glitch kid we all know and I hate.

Don't deny it, they can be A-Holes.

But I hope you enjoy your life with Six, you two are made to be friends and remember I will be in your heart or whatever they say in a movie before they kill off the parents of a main character.

Love your friend, Grace.

Mono oddly smiled when he finished the paper.

Well, at least we all get a happy ending.

He stashed the object inside his pocket as a cherished possession. He turned around to Six.

"Read to go?"

She nods gently, stroking Mono's hand. He set off Six into the streets of the city with a new intent to survive and protect.

Thin Man looks upon the children, smiling as he away fades away from sight. Everything is calmer.

There's finally a bit of peace.
