(Oneshot)

Disclaimer: I do not own Little Nightmares. I also do not own the Song.

(This is a Little nightmares (video games) fanfic)

(Its Mono-centric)

(Sorry if the characters seem OOC.)

(This takes place during the ending of Little Nightmares 2.)

(I apologise for any spelling mistakes.)

(Hope you enjoy this little oneshot. 😄)

The flesh. It doesn't seem to hurt Mono and Six. The duo run, it seems intent on their immediate capture.

The girl in the yellow raincoat raced ahead.

"Hey!"

Proper speech has never been spoken between the two. The one word bringing them together. One thing holding so much meaning.

But Six doesn't stop. She keeps sprinting, wanting to get away. Eventually, they come to a close. An exit.

Mono noticed her hesitation as he runs across the beam. As if she isn't going to extend her hand as she has before. He braces himself for death.

The black, bottomless death awaits him.

"Hey.."

Six's voice brings him back. Soft as always, the time forces him to look up into the eyes barely visible to the naked eye. But her cold gaze sticks.

The look is neutral, as if debating. One hand holds the key to his life continuing. The other option is to give their friendship up.

He sees the rage build up, frustration. A growl, but from a stomach. Then she decides.

Six lets go.

"Hey!"

Six gazed coldly as he fell, a grin spreads. As if she likes his demise. Mono closes his eyes, hearing the faint buzz of the once TVs under his command.

Zzzzzzzz...........

The soft buzzing comforts Mono, at least he is accompanied. Not totally alone as he falls to his inevitable doom. That brung a kind of peace.

But his mind will always be haunted by a mourning last memory. A tear leaks out of the eye it belongs to.

There is no more to cry over. Mono learns his fare is sealed. He finally remembers.

Always alone.

He cries as he lands to death.

***

Zzzzzz....

Mono opens his eyes. He looks around, the same hallway. But not the ones where he once craved to visit like one on their favourite holiday.

He remembers a place where he once visited with his mama, before she became a viewer. Before he became a runaway.

Before kids no longer became kids.

Mono remembers the doll children. The bullies.

Zzz....

Again, the soft bussing sounds away, distracting Mono away from thoughts threatening to consume his entire mind and soul.

Mono doesn't move. But he does speak.

"Why?.."

"Zzzzzz...."

Mono knows the character in his little adventure to be here. After all, they'd had plenty of encounters.

Once he perceived of the enemy. Now?

Trust isn't given anytime.

The thin man appears, blue as always. His form bent, not in the way of a monster's. A person mournful in lost of their loved one.

"Zzzz..."

The other's body crackles. The static from TVs affects this time. The thin man doesn't belong in this timeline. He belongs inside his own.

"M...on...ster..."

The reply is raspy. Mono guessed this voice hasn't had its used in quite sometime. He only now noticed they are on longer inside the fleshy prison.

Otherwise know as the Signal tower.

His heart swells, his thought swallow his mind a second to look back on prior events. The once thoughtful friendship of friend children...

Turned utter betrayal.

Six had the option. Six could have saved have mono from this free of cycled. Six chose to leave him behind for her one selfish desires.

"Survival of the fittest."

Mono recalls a kid saying that once. He's always traveled alone and light. He gave someone a chance to be friends, a natural choice of a lonely child who only wanted comfort.

The only thing he ever received was a friendship literally dying for. Six chose his smashing of a music box as an act of taunting.

Of ruin.

Mono only tried to rescue his friend.

"Zzzzz..."

Thin Man seems to have grown impatient. Mono told his head, indicating another repeat of what he just said. Thin man makes an action Mono can only interpret as a roll of the eyes.

Are you alright?

A deep, smooth voice of an adult whispers into his mind. The connection allows this action. Mono can only nod. Thin man relaxes slightly.

He sees the hesitation and preparing to run away.

Thin Man won't allow this. After all, he has worked hard to finally, finally reverse this cruel fate of them both. No more Thin Man, no more betrayals.

Price be payed, he doesn't care.

This cycle will finally end. Even is there is a price to pay, Thin keeps trying. If only to save the only thing mattering in his entire life behind the realm of living.

"Not...dead?..."

Mono rasps, voice distorts like a broken animatronic. Thin Man's mouth twitches.

A grin.

I lived.

It's all Mono needs to know. A few words, he knows the meaning behind it. He was always more the quiet child of the litter in the school.

He still hates the bullies.

But he knows his life is in debt to this...thing.

Yourself.

This revelation startles Mono. The unexpected reply causing a jolt, Mono doesn't quite understand the predicament he is caught him.

Thin Man isn't intending to let him go. But his intention aren't to hurt the child either. His well-being matters if both want to live to see another day.

Another future. You become me-

What?

Hush, child.

Obediently, Mono shuts up. His legs cross like a child listening to a bedtime story before they sleep.

The irony didn't dawn on him. It did on Thin Man.

He smiled a kinda condescending smile. Mono takes to pretending not to see. A soft chuckled emanates from the much larger entity.

Thin Man sits and puts his hands on his knees. He sees Mono's stance relax in the slightest, looking to be non-threatening to his child counterpart.

It works.

A cycle. A saviour for the saved. You rescue Six, woke together, develop a friendship of some sorts.

Mono tilts his head.

How do you know these events?

As said before, I am your older, adult self.

Adults can't be trusted.

Mono pouts, arms crossing and sinking in to himself. Thin Man wonders how old his younger is actually supposed to be in this timeline.

The child's features show without that paper bag covering the identity. Soulless eyes, dead of betrayal, of losing hope in this world.

Yet it retains a sort of childlike innocence.

Mono is still young after all, he has much to learn.

Thin Man continues again.

You both battle throughout your journey. The hunter, Bullies, the teacher, doctor, mannequins-

Wow, you really do know-

Every enemy your managed across, even the fleshy prison otherwise known as the signal tower.

Mono shivered, uncovered memories spring unwanted. He sobs, covering his eyes to shield his shame of a mistake made eons in the making.

Over and over again by past selves equalling dull futures.

"Zzzzzz....."

The static once again snaps Mono out of his daze. His attention is wanted and his will provide for this truth he is not supposed to deny.

Not after all Thin Man has done to finally accomplish a simple, yet daunting task.

He finally had some peace.

I will fade overtime from this, but you have stopped one evil. Yourself. I am you. You are me. We are the same. I finally freed us from torment. But the signal tower is more of an entity than we thought.

Mono briefly recalls the flesh of the building.

Thin Man nods.

That is the one.

What's going to happen now?

Mono glanced down. He appears anxious, fate seems ill prepared. Nothing bad has happened to the pair.

Thin Man likes that.

You survive. You avenge yourself. You have more power than Six. She consumes, but you control.

Mono owes a Thin Man debt. He knows he'll pay.

After all, he is under his once rival's protection.

Mono recognised the enemy as a Saviour.

(Hey guys. I hope you enjoyed this!)

(I wanted to do a oneshot for the fandom. The ending is something I liked, but wanted to explore upon a different king of scenario.)

(Vote and comment if you liked it!~😁)

(Hoped you enjoyed this little oneshot.)
