THE ALMIGHTY NECROMANCER

━━━━━ ⋆⋅♥︎⋅⋆ ━━━━━

Wheeling along their suitcases, Veronica and Corentin walked down the corridor heading towards Tori and Amelia's shared dorm.

Veronica had an excited look on her face as she reached out to open the door to their dorm. Now inside, Corentin and Veronica called out in unison, "Surprise!"

Both Amelia and Tori were startled awake, and Amelia let out some noise of excitement as she rushed out of her bed to hug the pair. "V! Alex! What the hell are you doing here?" The Claire-Mikealson asked, as they embraced her back.

"We're here for Halloween!" Corentin, who commonly went by Alex because most people couldn't say his French name correctly, responded. "Yep! We thought we'd come down for a few days to celebrate with you guys." Veronica added.

A grumbly Tori got out of bed, deciding she was in need of coffee. "Oh look. It's tweedle dee and tweedle dumb." She spoke harshly, only being so mean because she was woken up. With that, she shoved past them and left her dorm to grab coffee.

"Wow. She is meaner than I remember." Corentin said, still in his usual chipper tone. "Yeah... Tori is still without humanity. Unfortunately, I think this is just her now." Amelia admitted, as even she was losing hope on getting the real Tori back. Veronica had been incredibly close to Tori when she had her humanity. She missed her sweet cousin.

Veronica glanced over at the desk on Tori's side of the room, her eyes landing on the large sketch books belonging to the Mikealson. She had always been fixated on fashion design, and the Mikealson family always thought she would make a career out of it, but ever since she turned off her humanity she had lost interest in it.

"So I was thinking, we should go say hi to Hope and then maybe we can all go out for lunch and talk about what outfits we're going to wear for Halloween." Veronica suggested as Amelia quickly nodded. "That sounds great." She replied.

"Is there a Halloween party on tonight?" Corentin then asked as Amelia shrugged. "Despite being a school full of spooky beings, we never have Halloween parties here." Amelia confessed sadly, "Although Mystic Falls High usually host one... maybe we could crash it." She declared as both Veronica and Corentin seem enthused by this idea.

Josie stood in the Salvatore kitchen, flipping pancakes when MG arrived, drawn to the kitchen from the smell. "Ooh, it smells good in here!" The vampire confessed, as Josie turned to him.

"They're not for you. They're for my siblings." Josie admitted awkwardly before MG turned to her, "So they're apology pancakes?" He asked, as the Saltzman nodded. "Essentially."

MG took a seat by the marble benchtop while Josie cooked. "Are the rumours true?" The witch asked, placing a pancake on one plate. "About me and Alyssa?" MG replied, as Josie gave a nod.

"They are... Alyssa and I started dating last night." MG confessed. Even though rumours had spread, Josie was still quite surprised. "I thought you were crushing on Luca's friend."

"Beau? I was... I don't know, I think things fizzled out there... one minute we were bonding, and the next we stopped talking." MG shrugged. Little did the Greasley know, Beau had been mostly with Lucas, comforting him about the fact that at the age of sixteen he was being forced to marry the town's royalty.

"I'm just glad you finally got over your obsession with Lizzie." Josie admitted, as she had now place a stack of pancakes on each plate. Before Beau came to the school, MG was constantly chasing her twin. "You kept asking her out even though she said no more than once." The ravenette added as MG seemed sheepish.

"I really thought she liked me back." MG admitted, before Josie looked at him blankly. "MG, Lizzie is a lesbian." Seeming embarrassed, MG stayed quiet.

"Lizzie um... seems very happy with Aphrodite." MG finally spoke up after a few moments of being quiet. "Yeah... they're really good for eachother." Josie replied, as she poured maple syrup on the pancakes.

The ravenette couldn't admit it, but she felt like since Lizzie had gotten a girlfriend, the blonde wasn't by her side much. And now she had royally fucked up, by making up lies to keep Lucas and Lizzie apart.

Now, if Lizzie wasn't with Aphrodite, Charlie or Hope, she was with Lucas. They were practically inseparable now.

As if on cue, Lizzie, Charlie and Lucas entered the kitchen, as Josie had messaged them asking to meet her there. Upon seeing the siblings, MG awkwardly cleared his throat as he got off of the stool. "I'm gonna leave you guys be." He declared before he looked to the trio who had just entered the kitchen. "You guys are in for a treat." He smiled.

Once MG left, Lizzie, Lucas and Charlie approached the marble bench top, where they found four plates filled with pancake stacks that were covered in maple syrup.

"Morning guys. I decided to make you breakfast." Josie smiled, as Lizzie smiled back weakly whilst Lucas and Charlie seemed skeptical.

"Did you poison it?" Lucas asked harshly, as Josie's smile faltered. "What? Of course not. They're an apology, for what I did to hurt you." Josie said, hoping they'd stop being skeptical.

"Pancakes won't fix what you have done to us." Charlie frowned, crossing his arms. "You went after the girl I liked, even though you knew of my feelings. And then you pursued her, even when you were basically with Liv." He reminded her, as Josie's shoulder's slumped slightly.

"And you literally caused Lizzie and I to hate each other for years and made me feel like such an outcast that I went and enrolled at a school run by the world's biggest narcissist." Lucas added, crossing his arms to mirror Charlie.

Josie frowned, "You guys can't stay mad at me forever... we're siblings." She admitted as Lucas scoffed. Both him and Charlie each took a plate and went to leave, as they'd eat together somewhere else.

"Wait— I wanted us to eat together." Josie called out, but it was too late. The boys were gone. Lizzie's face faltered as she looked to her sister. "Jo..." She said, as the ravenette turned back to her with glassy eyes. "I love you, okay. I do." Lizzie said, with a weak smile before she placed her hand atop her sisters. "But it's going to take us time to get over this and accept your apology."

"The things you did to us... they were really horrible and manipulative. It's not something that can be forgiven so quickly." The blonde explained, as a tear rolled down Josie's cheek.

"Thank you for the breakfast." Lizzie said, taking her plate. She looked to Josie, "We're just... going to need time, okay?" She spoke before she left the kitchen with her pancakes, planning to share them with Aphie.

As rays of sunlight peeked in through the shades that were only half closed, Myrical found herself stirring in her sleep before inevitably waking up.

Groggily, she looked around her dorm, first peering over at Liv, who was still fast asleep under her covers, before she looked over at Laura, who was fast asleep on the sofa the girls had dragged into their room.

Myrical had suggested the introverted trio had a girls night, and so that was the happenings of the previous night. They'd watched movies, eaten too many unhealthy snacks and even ended up going for a walk into the school's forestry where Myrical found her friend, the white rabbit.

After an unintentionally long walk under the moonlight, the three raven haired girls had returned to Liv and Myrical's shared dorm, only to fall asleep moments later.

It had been a fun night, and Myrical felt like she was growing closer to Laura. Other than Liv and sometimes Aphrodite, Myrical didn't really talk to many others... but she seemed to really enjoy Laura's company.

Laura was next to awaken, as she sat up and stretched out her arms. She contemplated going back to sleep, until she had locked eyes with Myrical.

"Good morning, Laur." The Benning greeted, as Laura smiled back. "Morning Riri." She said, before she looked over at Olivia, to find her still asleep.

"Are you hungry?" Myrical asked, as Laura nodded. "Yeah... I'm craving waffles, big time." The Shiratori laughed awkwardly.

Whilst waffles sounded incredible, Myrical wasn't really feeling like anymore sweets after all of the candy they'd eaten the night before.

"I feel like some juice..." Myrical trailed off, before glancing back over at Liv and deciding that she would make some for the both of them.

Wordlessly, Laura and Myrical decided to leave the dorm and head to the kitchen. Being vacant, Laura took out the waffle iron and switched it on to heat up while she gathered the ingredients.

Meanwhile, Myrical gathered some fruits, as she tossed up between making orange juice, or mango juice. Eventually, she decided to just make a tropical juice and mix different fruit.

With Laura cooking waffles and Myrical using the juicer, noise completely filled the kitchen, though thankfully it wasn't for long.

Myrical poured the juice into two takeaway cups, before she looked to Laura, who had placed down a plate of nutella waffles. "I think I might stay here and eat these." Laura decided, not trusting herself in the sense that she might spill her breakfast if she was to eat it in Myrical and Liv's room. Plus, she was always taught to eat her meals at the dinner table growing up.

Myrical nodded, "I'll see you later then. Bye!" She waved, before she took the two cups of juice and headed back to her dorm.

When she reentered her dorm, she found Liv sitting up in her bed now, hugging a dog squishmallow in her arms, that Aphrodite had gotten her for her previous birthday.

"Morning Livvy." Myrical hummed, as she approached the ravenette, offering out a cup of juice to her. Liv smiled before she moved over, so that Myrical could sit beside her.

"Thanks Riri. Good morning." Liv answered, as Myrical sat on the bed beside her, taking a sip of juice. Olivia sipped on her drink, as she gently laid her head on Myrical's shoulder, still keeping the squishmallow in her arms.

"How does it feel to be back at the school?" The Benning asked, as Liv shifted into a more upright position as she placed the squishmallow on a beanbag that sat near her bed.

"Weird..." Liv began, as she looked back to Myrical. "I feel like I shouldn't be here." She confessed as Myrical's face fell. "What do you mean?" She asked.

"Ri, I nearly killed somebody, and she's the one who left the school. It's not right." Olivia sighed, as she took a sip of her juice. A guilty expression filled her face. "You weren't in your right mind." Myrical responded, not wanting Liv to believe that she was a monster.

"We saw what Kiara was capable of... the magic you possess is different to other witches." The Benning trailed off before she added, "But you're not evil, Liv." The hybrid insisted, looking to her best friend intently.

Liv weakly smiled, though tears stung her eyes. She blinked, trying to keep her tears at bay. "My Mum never taught me how to deal with my magic... because she only wanted me to be seem strong and powerful." She admitted, remembering how Kiara had reacted when she had claimed she was being bullied.

"Use your powers, show them who is really in charge here. You could own the halls of this school if you really tried."

Liv shifted uncomfortably, as she could recall when she had first snapped... much like how she had snapped at Penelope. "There is so much that is known about Auclair magic... and I don't want to hurt anybody else." The Auclair began before her expression faltered a little, "So I've decided to put my magic away, somewhere safe."

Myrical tilted her head, "So you can't cast any spells?" She asked, as Liv shook her head. "Nope... I'm not comfortable with my witch side... at least I have more control over my werewolf side." The Auclair explained, making it evident by her tone that she believed herself to be dangerous.

Myrical didn't think it was right to just put away your magic, she always thought it would be safer to learn control... but she had found harnessing her witch powers easier than Liv had.

"Hey Hope." Niko greeted, a smile on their lips as he approached the tribrid. "Hey Niko." Hope smiled back, "Thanks for meeting me."

Truthfully, Hope and Niko had been a little awkward since the whole slug drunk ordeal. Hope had been extra clingy to Niko while slugged and Niko was beginning to realise he had feelings for the girl.

"So I have contained the monster that brought Cassie back from the dead." Hope explained to Niko. A couple days prior, after the unicorn incident, Rafael's late girlfriend Cassie had appeared at the school.

Granted, seeing Cassie again helped to give Rafael closure, but she was possessed at some point and after the knife.

"I've got him locked up for now... I'm hoping you can help me to read his thoughts and find out his intentions." Hope spoke as Niko seemed a little suspicious, as it was obvious that Hope was trying to keep this on the down low.

"I'm guessing Alaric isn't aware of this?" Niko asked, as Hope shook her head. "You're not gonna tell him, are you?" She quickly asked. Niko scoffed, "God no. I hate that jerk. But still, this seems dangerous."

"It should be fine. Tori is coming to help me, as well. Two powerful hybrids and a psychic? We have all the help we need." Hope smiled reassuringly, though Niko still didn't seem impressed.

"Is this going to take long? I still have to do my makeup for the party." Tori's voice bluntly asked, as she seemed to have appeared out of thin air. "What are you wearing?" Hope asked, as Tori stood there in a Little Red Riding Hood outfit. "There's a party?" Niko then asked.

"Yep, there's a Halloween party tonight at Mystic Falls High. I'm going as Little Red, Beau is going as a werewolf and Lucas is going as the hunter." Victoria explained as the pair nodded.

"Anyway, what are we doing?" Tori asked. "I was hoping that if Niko's psychic abilities don't help us enough, that you can help me to do a head dive." Hope explained to her sister, as Niko was taken back by this suggestion. "Hope, that's incredibly dangerous." They insisted, although Tori had a smug smile, "This could be fun." She declared.

With that, the Mikealson sisters entered the cellar, as Niko trailed behind them. "Oh, you have a powerful scent of death on you." The Necromancer, stuck inside the cell insisted, as he looked between Hope and Tori.

The Necromancer noticed the disgusted looks on Hope and Tori's faces and quickly said, "It's quite lovely, really."

"Right..." Tori trailed off before Hope spoke, "I thought maybe we could talk."

"Such puny creatures dare to dalliance with The Almighty Necromancer?" The monster asked as Niko seems amused, as he was speaking to two Mikealsons— one a tribrid, and one a hybrid, as well as a psychic.

"Well, here's the thing about that. You don't exist." Hope said, crossing her arms as the Necromancer scoffed, "I won't fall for your mind games."

"This isn't a game, fuckface." Tori snarled, causing Niko to flinch. "How rude!" The Necromancer huffed at Tori's insult.

"Let me lay it out for you. You died, you were in a dark place for what felt like an eternity, until suddenly, you were pulled into the light with a singular, inexplicable mission to retrieve a knife." Hope explained to the monster who just replied, "Do continue."

"It's been the same with all the creatures that came before you. A dragon, a gargoyle, a... an Arachne, a dryad..." Hope trailed off before Tori and Niko looked at her in shock. "You guys fought a dragon?" Niko asked, as Hope nodded absentmindedly. "So unfair." Victoria drawled, as the dragon fight had happened before the Auclair students merged with the Salvatore school.

"Bah. Such creatures exist only in fiction." The Necromancer declared before Hope added, "No. They've been erased from history, and so have you." The tribrid said, as they had learnt about Malivore from the tree nymph, although they hadn't found it themselves.

"That's preposterous. I'm world-renowned. People tremble at the sound of my name—"

"Don't believe me? Read up." Tori spoke bluntly, holding up a book as the Necromancer investigated.

He inhaled sharply before crying out, "No! No! No! No! No! No! A lifetime's work, my legacy, reduced to something as-as pitiful as a brand of sorcery? Where I am barely a footnote? Who's responsible for this vile affront?" He roared.

"That's what we're hoping you can help us figure out." Hope spoke, "And if you could do that in a lot less words, that would be fantastic." Tori added, crossing her arms now.

"Well, then, I'm all ears."

"If you want to get to the bottom of this, we need to know who's communicating with you." Niko suggested as the Necromancer shook his head. "No one's communicating with me. My mind is a steel trap."

"Hm.. we'll see about that." The Shiratori spoke, stepping in front of Hope and Tori now as he tried to use his psychic abilities on the monster.

"His mind is really difficult to read." Niko began, as the Necromancer smirked proudly. "But... it doesn't seem he knows of a master."

"What? It can't be a coincidence." Hope frowned, "Every monster has been coming after the same thing, communicating in some way, so who's pulling the strings?" She asked as the Necromancer scoffed. "I am no puppet. It's less a voice, more an instinct. I simply know things." He declared.

"Is that true?" Tori asked Niko, who was still concentrating on reading his mind. "It seems so..." The Shiratori said.

"So you know you're here to retrieve a knife and return it to a place called Malivore?" Hope asked as the Necromancer nodded, "If I return the knife to Malivore, I will be free. "

"Of what?"

"The blackness. The void. The empty oblivion."

Tori smirked, "Please.... That doesn't sound all that bad." She hummed before Hope frowned at the Necromancer, "Do you ever just say things once?" She demanded.

"And more importantly, do you know how to get there?" Niko asked, as he struggled to find the answer in his head.

"Only that the knife will lead me."

"I'm assuming you know this symbol." Tori spoke, holding up a book as the Necromancer nodded. "It is the sign of the worst existential nightmare. The ultimate hell. The—"

"Fuck man, you're doing it again." Tori snapped, as Hope was growing impatient also. "Focus. What does it mean?"

"That symbol represents what you say has happened to me. It means no one remembers you. No one celebrates you. No one mourns you. Loosely translated, it means permanent death." The Necromancer answered before Hope demanded, "Do you remember how you died?"

"I was wandering the beach of Normandy in need of a pick-me-up, so I thought I'd resurrect a few G.I.s to toy with some nazis." He trailed off as Niko seemed a little surprised, "I'm glad to hear even evil creatures don't like nazis."

"Nobody likes nazis."

"One minute, I'm dancing with the dead on the sand, and the next, there was just blackness." The monster explained before Tori asked, "But you don't remember who killed you?"

"No, although that's not uncommon. The subconscious has a way of protecting the mind against the trauma of death. I see it all the time in my line of work." The Necromancer declared.

Hope looked between Niko and Tori, "But theoretically, that memory still exists. Right? What if there was a way to access it?" She asked, as her eyes landed back on the Necromancer.

"You want to take a walk through my subconscious?" The Necromancer asked, "Well, at your own peril, my dear. 'Cause I'm not sure you're quite tall enough to ride the scary rides, huh? I assume you've got a powerful vampire handy?"

Hope smirked slightly, as she looked to her younger sister who had a slight grin. "Absolutely." The tribrid decided.

"Absolutely not." Niko spoke up, as Hope and Tori looked at him in surprise. "This is a dangerous idea... you guys should let me dig around more, I might be able to find something." They suggested though Hope shook her head. "You said it yourself, it's hard to read his mind. I think it would be best if Tori helped me to do a head dive." She declared.

Niko opened their mouth to argue, but was ignored as Tori held her out her hand for Hope to grab, before she was to dive into the Necromancer's mind.

"Hey, do us a favour. Keep watch." The blonde spoke to Niko, before they disappeared the Mikealson sisters disappeared before his eyes.

AUTHORS NOTE

So originally this chapter was nearly 7,000 words so I decided to split it into 2 parts. Most of the Auclair characters were used in the second part but not the first, so I do apologise that this chapter only focuses on very few characters.

A little insight for the next chapter:
Tori and Hope investigate the mind of the Necromancer, while the Auclair and Salvatore students prepare for Mystic Falls High's annual Halloween party, which is more violent than usual.

Anyway, a friendly reminder that if you have applied characters for my fanfic and haven't been supporting it by voting and commenting, I will write off your characters.

I'm getting frustrated that I am writing many characters from many different people and some of the appliers are being ghost readers. 😐
