FAMILY TIES

The Founder's party was underway, and best friends Beau and Lucas were dancing together, as if no one was watching.

The pair were quite giggly, as Luca would misstep every so often and Beau found it funny, but eventually Beaumont caught Luca glancing over his shoulder, and grew curious to see what he was looking at.

Beau spun them around, his eyes landing on Hope and Landon, who were dancing together. "What's happening with you and Kirby boy?" The Lazuli asked, as Luca shrugged. "We've been... hanging out." The blonde replied.

"Oh come on Lucie, not even a kiss? I mean, I'm one of your best friends... You are supposed to share the smut." The siphoner said with a smirk, as Luca felt his face flush.

"We just talked for hours... and drank a lot of coffee." Lucas responded, before Beau asked dramatically, "Lucas Cornelius Saltzman, what is with the blockage? Just jump his bones already!"

"Beau!" Luca huffed in a loud whisper, embarrassed as he was saying this quite loudly. "Okay, it's easy. Boy likes boy, sex!"

"Easy for you to say, you're a little hoe." Lucas replied, as Beau pretended to be offended, before he caught Luca glancing at Landon again. "Okay, that's it. You're asking him to dance, now." The Lazuli huffed.

Moments later, and after a bit of force, Beau had a smirk on his lips as he watched Lucas and Landon dancing together.

"You're... Beaumont right?" A voice asked suddenly, as the witch turned around to see MG. "Avid Marvel fan?" The vampire added.

"Perhaps. Marvel is better than DC." Beau confessed, with a proud smirk. MG's jaw dropped, as he acted as though he was offended, "You take that back!"

Beau laughed, before he held out his hand, for MG to take. "Shall we dance, Milton?" He asked, with his signature charming smile. MG would have blushed under Beau's stare, if it wasn't for the use of his full name.

"As long as you never call me that again." MG huffed, before he took Beau's hand, and they began to dance.

Lizzie and Aphrodite looked at the historical display, as Lizzie looked at these particular wedding rings. Aphrodite caught her staring, and averted her eyes towards the rings before she grew curious.

"I have this... step sister slash Aunt." Lizzie began to explain, "You may have heard of her, her name is Elena Gilbert." The Saltzman said, looking at the redhead now. "Mhm, she married Damon Salvatore right?" The heretic asked, as Lizzie nodded.

"I knew Damon and Stefan Salvatore... back in the 1860s." Aphrodite admitted as Lizzie seemed surprised by this. "It's so weird to think that you're eighteen... but technically hundreds of years old." The blonde replied as Aphie laughed softly, knowing how strange it must sound to the girl.

"Anyway.. these rings belonged to Elena's parents." Lizzie stated, bringing their attention back to the rings. "Apparently they had a... beautiful, epic love. It's something I... hope to find some day." The Saltzman confessed, as a small smile appeared on Aphrodite's face.

Lizzie returned the smile, giving Aphrodite a loving glance, before she noticed something over the redhead's shoulder. "Is that... the first registry?" She asked, as Aphrodite turned around to look, before Lizzie approached it.

"Yep. The registry of the first Founder's party in 1864." Aphrodite said, stepping behind Lizzie before she placed her chin gently on Lizzie's shoulder. The Saltzman felt chills down her spine at the sudden contact, but kept her eyes on the registry.

"The founding families in Mystic Falls welcome you to the inaugural founder's council celebration." Lizzie read aloud, before she glanced at the names below to look for any that were familiar.

"Sheriff William Forbes... wow, he was the Sheriff just like my Grandma was." Lizzie stated, remembering pictures of Liz Forbes as the Sheriff, years before she and Josie were born.

"Damon Salvatore and Stefan Salvatore..." The blonde added before she found Aphie's name, in cutesy writing. "Aphrodite De Martel." The siphon said, her lips curved into a small smile, before she noticed another familiar name.

"Violetta Auclair." Lizzie read aloud. "I didn't realise that the Auclair's are a founding family."  She added, turning to Aphrodite.

The redhead had stepped away from Lizzie and walked over to the registry. She ran her fingers along the name, as sadness graced her features.

"Did you... know her?" Lizzie asked, looking sympathetically at the De Martel as it was clear that Liv's ancestor meant something to her.

"Mhm... I did." Aphrodite said, before she composed herself and faced Lizzie. "Vio was... one of my epic loves." She confessed.

Lizzie's face faltered, is it really hit her how lonely it must feel to be immortal. Over Aphrodite's long life, she'd had many epic loves... but she'd outlived them all.

A pit of sadness filled Lizzie's stomach, before she took a step forward and took Aphrodite's hand gently in her own. Aphrodite smiled weakly, as she interlaced their fingers.

"Why don't we... get a drink?" Lizzie suggested, wanting to lighten the mood. Aphrodite nodded, "That sounds like a good idea." She said, giving Lizzie's hand a light squeeze before the girls walked away to head to the bar.

Charlie sipped on a beer, cringing at the bitter taste as he swallowed it. He'd been spending the night with Niko, but he was asked by Hope for a dance.

The Salvatore watched as his best friend danced with his roommate, noticing the large smiles plastered on their faces. It made the vampire smile.

Niko was the epitome of sunshine, and Hope was the protector of said sunshine. It was an adorable dynamic, and Charlie could see the sparks fly between the Mikealson and Shiratori, even if they were unaware of it themselves.

"Are you... staring at them?" A voice asked, belonging to Penelope. Charlie spun around, his eyes landing on the Park who wore her signature smirk as she sipped on a glass of moscato.

"They're really cute together." Charlie confessed, before his eyes landed back on Hope and Niko.

Penelope smiled sadly at Charlie, noticing how he didn't seem interested in talking to her, as he kept looking at anything but her.

"Charlie." Penelope eyed him, finally catching his attention. "Do you want to dance?" She asked, offering out her hand.

Charlie glanced down at it, wanting to turn down her offer, but something told him not to. "Sure." He decided, as Penelope smiled.

The pair began dancing, as for the first time in a while, they both felt comfortable around eachother. There was no drama, no angst... just two former best friends who harboured feelings for one another but weren't going to do anything about it.

"Now that is cute." An unfamiliar voice to Penelope piped up, though Charlie wanted to roll his eyes. The pair turned to see a girl with brown hair, and many similar features to Charlie. Her lip twitched up into a smirk before she said, "Hello Cousin."

"Hi, Lexi." Charlie spoke, as Penelope raised an eyebrow. "Cousin?" She asked, as Charlie nodded. "This is Lexi Salvatore, Damon's daughter. She goes to Mystic Falls High." The Salvatore boy introduced. "She looks as though she could be your twin.." Penelope confessed to Charlie.

"Lexi, this is Penelope." The boy said, as Lexi's eyes lit up. "The Penelope Park? That you have been crushing on since the beginning of time?" The Salvatore girl asked smugly, as Charlie's face reddened.

Penelope smiled smugly now, "Is that so?" She asked, as Charlie shook his head. "Lexi!!" He grumbled with embarrassment as the girl laughed.

"My cousin and I are going to get a drink..." Charlie decided, not wanting Lexi to embarrass him infront of Penelope anymore. "Okay." Penelope decided, shooting Lexi a quick smile. "It was nice to meet you."

Before Lexi could answer, Charlie dragged her away, towards the bar. "What are you doing here?" Charlie asked, as Lexi raised an eyebrow. "I'm a member of a founding family, remember? I'm here to celebrate, as you are."

"Wherever you go, trouble usually follows." Charlie admitted, "After all you're Damon's daughter." He huffed. Lexi rolled her eyes, before she glanced at the boy. "We used to be close, now I'm nothing more than Damon's daughter to you?" She asked.

"Because.. you used to be nice." Charlie frowned. "Now you're like a Damon 2.0 and you started dating the guy who bullied me... he was literally transphobic!"

"Connor and I aren't together anymore... and you know I was only dating him for his money? To get revenge for how he treated you." Lexi insisted, as Charlie's eyes widened in surprise.

The Salvatore girl then pulled a $200 bill from her bra, before handing it to Charlie. "Straight from Connor's wallet. There's more where that came from." She insisted, as Charlie shook his head. "Thank you but... I don't really wanna touch money that was being stored in your bra. Lexi shrugged, before she shoved the bill back, "Suit yourself." She decided.

The Salvatore cousins ordered a drink each, before Lexi noticed Lizzie and Aphrodite dancing together. "Lizzie has a girlfriend now?" The brunette asked as Charlie shook his head. "They're not dating... yet at least. But Lizzie has been really happy since she met Aphrodite."

Lexi smiled, before she then saw Lucas, dancing with Landon. "Hey... is that the waiter from the Mystic Grill... dancing with Luca?" She then asked, as Charlie nodded. "I didn't think he'd know how to dance, honestly." Lexi confessed, as Charlie laughed.

"I'm not a fan of Landon... but Lucas has been really happy with him." Charlie stated, as Lexi nodded. She was happy for Lucas, but likewise she didn't really care for Landon.

"Is Jo seeing anyone?" Lexi asked curiously and hesitantly. She wasn't a fan of the Saltzman at all, but she was still curious. "I don't think so. She's been spending a lot of time with Liv."

"Liv?" Lexi asked, not recognising the name. "Olivia Auclair... she's over there." Charlie said, pointing out the ravenette, who was happily dancing with Myrical.

Lexi blinked in surprise for a moment, upon seeing Liv. The Auclair looked beautiful, and the Salvatore couldn't help to wonder how she'd never seen her before. When she saw the hybrid smile, Lexi could have sworn she felt her heart skip a beat.

As Liv and Myrical danced, with smiled plastered on their faces, Josie was dancing nearby with Amelia. It looked as though she was having fun, but she was clearly jealous of Myrical dancing with Liv.

"Liv is... beautiful." Lexi confessed, taking a sip of her apple cider, as she kept her eyes on the Auclair. "Oh no, don't even think about it heartbreaker." Charlie huffed.

"Who said I'm gonna break her heart?" Lexi asked, eyeing her cousin. "I know you've been quite a player at Mystic Falls high." Charlie confessed, "And Liv... is a little fragile at the moment. Her Mum died recently."

"Oh... She's the daughter of Kiara Auclair." Lexi realised, as Charlie nodded. "She looks like a friendly girl, considering she's the offspring of the wicked witch." She stated as Charlie laughed.

A short time later, Josie had noticed Lexi approaching Liv and Myrical. Almost as if she could read Lexi's mind, she rushed towards Liv and asked her to dance, before the Salvatore could take her attention.

Liv gave Josie a smile, "Sure." She decided, as Josie took her hand. Myrical gave the girls a smile, as she was grateful that Josie made Liv happy.

The pair went to dance, leaving a disappointed Lexi. Myrical noticed this, and looked at the girl. "Are you okay?" Her soft voice spoke, as Lexi snapped her head towards Myrical, only just hearing her.

"Yeah. I'm alright." The Salvatore responded, "Are you friends with Olivia?" She then asked, as the Benning nodded. "Liv is... practically my sister." She confessed.

A smile graced Lexi's features, before she reached her hand out towards Myrical, wanting to dance. Myrical seemed surprised, but took the Salvatore's hand and began to dance with her, unaware that Lexi was going to pry and find out more about Olivia whilst getting to know Myrical... because there was no way Lexi was letting a person like Josie, be with a girl like Liv... she knew it was a recipe for disaster.

Nearby, Amelia and Tori sat together, sipping on their chosen drinks. Amelia seemed to keep an eye on Josie and Liv, noticing the smile that lit up the Saltzman's face. Josie's smile brought a smile to Amelia's face.

"Are you watching Josie and Liv?" Tori asked, nudging her cousin. Amelia's face flushed before she looked to Tori. "Perhaps." She answered, causing Tori to smile smugly.

"Don't tell me you still have the hots for Olivia." The O'Connell-Mikealson hummed as Amelia blushed, but shook her head. "Not anymore— it wasn't even a crush. We were just really close and... I think I was confused." The heretic admitted. "But.. I think I like Josie."

"Have you even tried talking to her?" Victoria asked, as Amelia shook her head. "Well, maybe you should start with that. Cmon, you're a flirt— what's stopping you from flirting with Josie?" The vampire asked.

"I don't know... I get nervous when I'm around her." Amelia admitted, as Tori shrugged not knowing the feeling anymore. She used to feel nervous around Glen, and even Clary... being around them made her feel butterflies in her stomach... but those feelings went away when she flipped the switch.

"Well, you might wanna make your move, otherwise she'll keep shacking up with Olivia. I don't care for Josie or Liv, but that's a gross dynamic." Tori admitted as Amelia let out a soft chuckle.

"Oop, someone is coming your way." Amelia admitted, nudging Tori as Glen was approaching them. The blonde spun around, her eyes landing on her former crush.

"Hi." Tori spoke, as Glen's expression turned into a smile. "Hey Tori, want to dance?" The Forde asked. "Sure." Victoria decided, flashing her cousin one last knowing smile before she went to dance with Glen.

Amelia laughed softly before she turned around, to glance at Josie again. Meanwhile, the Saltzman was keeping an eye on Lexi, who kept shooting her smug little smiles.

Josie was fed up, catching on very quickly that Lexi had a sudden interest in Olivia. Wanting to keep the Salvatore away, she swept Liv off her feet suddenly before she kissed her in front of everyone.

A gasp escaped Myrical's lips, but she smiled when she saw Liv kiss Josie back. The Auclair smiled into the kiss, seeming surprised by Josie's actions. Lexi on the other hand, rolled her eyes at the scene before she turned away. Little did they know, a disheartened Amelia stood nearby, no longer being in the mood to dance.
