-Epilogue-
8 months later...
"Ao'nung, help me clean up! We need to go to my parents mauri for dinner!" I yelled, there was no answer. "We are gonna be late!"
I heard groaning as Ao'nung stepped into the main part of our mauri, stepping on a blanket I was making. I hissed. "Watch where you're going!"
Ao'nung chcukcled and picked up the blanket putting it somewhere else. "Jeez Tsa'lu these mood swings really have you going."
I rolled my eyes and I bent over to pick something's up. Grunting as I stood back up. I put a hand on my hip. "I swear I don't know how long I can keep bending over like this." I mumbled.
Ao'nung came by me and gave me a kiss. "You only have a few more weeks love."
I sighed. "I'm ready for it to be done with, my feet and back hurts."
"I know." Ao'nung said.
"Are you finally ready to go?" I asked
"Yes let's go." Ao'nung helped me out of our pod as we kind of walked to my parents pod. It was a short walk. We gently knocked on the door as Tuk's head popped up from what she was doing. "Tsa'lu!" She screamed as she plowed into me giving me a hug.
"Oof!" I said. "Tuk you have to watch."
She mumbled a sorry before looking up again. "When will he be here?" She asked.
"You asked this already a million times Tuk. In a few more weeks."
"I can't wait till he comes." Tuk said smiling. Mom came up and gave me a hug smiling at me. Lo'ak came out of a small area Tsireya following him. Holding hands. They were now a couple.
Kiri came next. Still a teenager, Rotxo was over as well. They had something going on between them but Dad wouldn't let that happen something along the line. "Oh no I will not let that happen. Not again."
Tuk was now 12. She had friends here now. "There's my baby girl." Dad said as he gave me a hug. Giving Ao'nung a stink eye.
"Come come dinner is finished." Mom said ushering us inside. Everyone started kneeling down to sit around the fire.
"Ao'nung." I said calmly.
"Yes love?"
"I need help." Ao'nung comes by my side and helps me down to the floor. Tuk comes and sits by me. "Can I touch it?" She asks
"Oh my stomach?" I put a hand on my stomach, being 8 months pregnant was taking a toll on me. "You can."
Tuk touches my stomach and then pulls away laughing. "It kicked!"
I smiled rubbing my stomach. "He is a kicker, just like his father." I look over at Ao'nung who is stuffing his face full of food. "And a big eater." I added and laughed.
Tuk giggled as she touched my stomach again. Then we started eating. Laughing and talking togther.
Who knew a forest girl like me could adapt to the ocean clans? Or to become their Tsahik and rule with a mate.
I told myself I would never mate with a fish lip boy, even if I die. But here I am.
Happiness is simple.
We got up after talking for a while and headed back to our tent. It was eclipse and way past Tuk's bedtime.
We got ready for bed. Putting up our Leadership clothing and putting on some comfortable clothes.
I crawled into a hammock that we shared. Ao'nung blowing out the light that Dad has given us before climbing to the hammock as well. My head against Ao'nung's chest as he wrapped his hands around me. Touching my stomach, as the baby kicked.
"I cannot wait for our son to come." Ao'nung said
I smiled. "He's probably going to be just like his father." I smiled.
"And have his mother's traits." Ao'nung said. "But of course have my looks."
I laughed hitting his chest lightly. We talked a little bit more before closing our eyes to go to bed. The waves crashing against the shore line could be heard as I listened to Ao'nung's heart beat.
This is where we live now. We are Metkayina. This is where we stay. This is where we make our stand.
