-Chapter 2-
We walked into the science lab. We were going to see Norm and other humans. We were only here because Kiri wanted to go see her mother. Well, and to see Norm and Max. We walked into the lab, Kiri was messing around with Spider.
"You know what really sucks though?" Spider says "Is you can breath Earth air for hours, and I can only breathe your air for, like, two seconds."
"Yeah, Monkey Boy, that really sucks." Kiri says rolling her eyes "For you."
I looked around seeing Max appear, probably to see what the noise was. I looked back at Kiri and Spider. Spider pulled her tail causing Kiri to hiss at him playfully.
"Hi, Max." Neteyam says
"Hey, kids." Max replies.
"Hey. What's up, Max?" Lo'ak says
"What up?" We walk over to the tank where Kiri's mother was at. If I remember correctly her name was Grace. Kiri gets up on the tank and put her face against the glass that holds her mother "Hi, Ma."
"Maybe I'm just losing it out here, but I'm seeing real evidence of a systemic response on a global level." Kiri's mother was saying looking into the camera "I can't... I won't use the term "intelligence." It's, um..."
I breath through my mask. "...maybe "awareness"
is a better word. It's like the entire biosphere of Pandora is aware... and capable of this cognitive response."
"Oh, crap, I can't say that." I chuckle "They'll crucify me. I mean, I need to say something that'll..."
As we watch Kiri's mother talking, the silence was broken by Lo'ak "So who do you think knocked her up?"
Spider chuckles and looks at Lo'ak. "Pretty sure it was Norm."
"Totally." Lo'ak replies back.
"You do not deserve to live." Kiri says and I nodded.
"No, no, no." Lo'ak turns to us. "Think about it, right? I mean, he's the teacher's pet. He's out at the lab with her all the time."
"I would kill myself." Kiri says "I would drink acid."
"Bro, you're right." Spider laughs "He's, like, in every shot. Bro, look, look, he's giving her looks."
"Hey." I replied
"See, I'm thinkin' their two avatars were out in the woods all alone..." Lo'ak starts to say putting a hand over his heart. I pushed him.
"Gross!" Kiri says
"Guys. I mean, sometimes it's not so great to know who your father was." Spider says. I give him an annoyed look, he always has to ruin everything.
"Whatever." He says "Don't even remember him." Spider says looking at me and turning away.
"No, Spider." Kiri says
"Spider... Dude. You are not him." Lo'ak says.
I walked out of the lab after saying goodbye to Norm and Max. Tuk had been asking me to make her a new top and bottom. She wouldn't quit bothering me. I walked inside the tent, no one was there. I went to a basket where I had the materials and made Tuk's new clothes.
I weaved carefully through the materials, making children clothes were sometimes a little tough, but I did it and made it. The top was done, it was white with a little bit of diffrent designs. I decided to do a white bottom as well, they usally take a short amount of time. I weaved carefully through it, I had put some beads into the sides. As I was finishing Kiri came in. "We are going to explore we will be back before esclipe want to come?"
I smiled, "Sure let me finish the this bottom piece and set it by Tuk's things, this is for her." I held up the outfit in the air. Kiri thought it was nice.
I finished it and sat it on Tuk's bed. I followed Kiri out of the tent.
"Guys, wait up!" Tuk yells. There are birds and insects chirping, animals calling and squawking in the distance. I had my bow and some arrows with me. She stops for a second to play with a plant. She laughs. As I passed her I smiled.
"Tuk! Keep up!" Lo'ak yells
"Okay, okay." she replies
"Bro, why'd you bring her anyway?" Spider asks. Lo'ak stops to turn to us.
"She's such a cry baby. She's all, "I'm telling. "You're not supposed to go to the battlefield." Lo'ak starts mocking Tuk "I'll tell Mom if you don't let me come."
Tuk is behide Kiri and sticks out her tongue. I grinned "Don't pick on her." Kiri and I say at the same time. We both look at each other and laugh. We continue until we make it to an old RDA helicopter where Lo'ak and Spider climbed up.
"Are there any dead bodies up there?" Tuk yells. I try not to laugh.
Lo'ak starts moving further until I grab him by the arm. "Eclipse is almost here. We aren't going any farther."
"Who's made you boss?" Lo'ak asks.
"I'm the oldest. Dad always wants us back at eclipse." I sneered at him. "I'm not getting in trouble for your ass again."
Lo'ak loosened his grip of my arm. "You're not dad."
I start backing away. "Fine. But when you get in trouble. I'm not taking the blame." I start to walk off.
"Tsa'lu!" Tuk yells "Where are you going?"
I call for my Ikran who was almost done healing besides some wounds on his neck. "Home."
When I arrived home, I walked around the village, seeing if there was anything I could help with. That was until grandmother called to me. I turned around and walked towards her. "Yes Grandmother?"
"Would you help me heal some of these warriors?" She asked.
"Yes Grandmother."
"Where are your siblings?" She asked
"Oh. They went to the woods." I said as I picked up paste and began to apply it to a warrior.
"And you didnt go?" She asked.
"Well, I went with them, and got mad at Lo'ak when he would come home because it was soon getting dark." I explained.
Grandmother shook her head. "That boy is gonna get his siblings or himself killed."
"He is." A warrior hissed in pain, I mumbled a sorry.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
We were all sitting out of our tent listening to our Mom and Dad fight that night. Tuk peeked right underneath the cloth that hugged their home, trying to understand what they were fighting about.
Avatars found my siblings and there was a huge fight, but of course I got scolded for leaving them alone in the forest. It's Lo'ak's fault!
"This thing. This Quaritch. Whatever he is..." Dad started to say
"What's going on?" Neteyam asks as he walks up. I shush him.
"He can walk right in here. He can walk right under Eywa's nose." Dad continued
"This is our family. This is our home." Mom says
"This is about our family. This is about our little ones." He says back
"I cannot. You cannot ask this. I cannot leave my People." Mom says. Leave the people? No no no.... We can't leave. "I will not."
"He's hunting us. He's targeting our family." Dad says
"You cannot ask this! The children. Everything they've ever known. The forest. This is our home!" Mom says pleading
"He had our children. He had 'em under his Knife!" Dad says.
We can't leave our home! We can't leave everything we have known! We can't leave grandmother! I peaked down to see our mother going to her bow and picking it up. At that moment I got up and bursted through the door. "We can't leave!" I say
"Tsa'lu, they doesn't concern you." Dad says
"Everything we have known is here! In the Omatikaya clan!"
"My father gave me this bow as he lay dying." Mom said her voice cracking "And he said protect the People."
"You're Toruk Makto!" I plead
"This will protect the People! Quaritch has Spider. And that kid knows everything. He knows our whole operation, and he can lead them right in here." Dad tells mom and he looks at me. "If the People harbor us, they will die. Do you understand?"
"I will not leave! I won't leave Grandmother, my friends! Norm, Max!"
"Look, I got nothing. I got no plan... " Dad looks at Mom and I. "But I can protect this family. That I can do."
Mom sighs and nods. Dad looks at me. "Pack your things we leave tomarrow." He starts walking away.
"No."
He turns around. "What?"
"I said no. I will not leave my Clan, the people!" I say looking at him starting to cry.
"That's an order! Go pack your things!" He comes towards me, face to face.
"We aren't your perfect little squad." I push him away "We are not sky people soldiers! We are your family. Not some stupid sky people warriors!"
"Tsa'lu-" Father started. But I cut him off.
"This is where we belong!" I exclaimed.
"We must go where we can thrive and be secure. The dangers here are increasing, and I must ensure the safety of our family, and protect the clan." he explained.
"We're a family, and our place is here, among the Omatikaya."
Dad sighed, He comes back up and places his hands on my shoulders. "I understand your concerns, Tsa'lu, but my duty is to protect you all. And the Clan. We must adapt to survive."
I push him away again. Mother tries to reason with me. I start going to the door and then stop. "I hate you."
I walked out of the tent and started crying, walking past my siblings as Mom and Dad come out of the tent trying to bring me back inside.
"Tsa'lu come back!" They were then met with the faces of there Son's and Daughter's. They knew they didnt have to explain that they were going to leave now.
