one week later...
jeongguk was distressed.
god, why is it so hard?
he was trying to think of a way to tell taehyung about his feelings towards him.
he already knew it would be difficult but it was proving to be even harder than expected.
should i do something extravagent?
nah, taetae doesn't like big gifts or suprises because he feels like a bother...
should i do it publicly?
hmmm, no. taehyung likes attention but he doesn't like everyone knowing his personal business.
should i just go right out and say it randomly?
nah, he'll probably think i'm pranking him if i do that...
should i message it to him?
nope, he won't be able to tell that i'm serious if it's through text.
ugh, imma commit toaster+bath if i can't figure this shit out.
he was currently sitting in his dorm, on his bed, practically ripping his own hair out.
he was letting the whole situation frustrate him way more than it needed to.
he was ready to kill the next person who annoyed him.
knock knock
he got up and flung open the door.
"what d'you want?" he said, agressively.
"jesus, calm down son." seokjin said.
"ugh, i'm kinda in the middle of something." jeongguk sighed with an attitude.
"what is it? you and taehyung fucking in here?" seokjin teased.
"oh shut up."
"in all seriousness, i came here because i'm bored and everyone else i know has classes." jin admitted.
"nice to know that i was your first thought." jeongguk deadpanned.
"be quiet and let me in, boy."
"fine~" jeongguk whined.
he let him in the dorm and jin flopped onto taehyung's bed while jeongguk sat back down on his own.
"so, why you stressin'?" jin asked, sensing that something was wrong.
"how'd you know?" jeongguk asked, looking up to him.
"first of all, my father senses were tingling. secondly, you opened the door way too harshly for you not to be mad about something. not to mention that i know for a fact you would never speak to me with that much attitude if you was in your right state of mind." jin listed, sounding sassy at the end.
"fair enough."
"so~ tell me bro."
"well, i'm trying to think of a way to tell tae how i feel without it being brushed off as a joke or end up in me being scolded for making a scene." jeongguk admitted.
"i see... that's tricky. but, as i said last time, DO I-"
"DO IT COWARD! yeah! yeah, i know! jesus, shut up." jeongguk said, massaging his own temples.
"well if you know then just... like... do it?" seokjin said, not really seeing the big deal since he'd never been in that situation before.
"you know what?"
"what?"
"imma just do it." jeongguk said, getting up.
"do what?"
"what you've been telling me to do. imma just go up to him right now, pull him aside and just say it." he said, nodding in approval of his own plan.
"isn't he in class?"
jeongguk looked at his watch, "he class ends in ten minutes and he's in the building just across from here. i can make it if i leave soon."
"uhm, i'm not experienced in the whole 'proffessing-your-undying-love-to-your-bestie-thing' and i know that i'm the one who suggested it but i don't think that's a good idea." seokjin confessed.
"well..."
"well? well what?"
"well, i'm gonna run there and you can't stop me cuz i'm faster than you!"
and with that, jeongguk was gone.
seokjin stood up fast and looked out of the door, only to see jeongguk already all the way down the hall.
"aigoo, this child is crazy..." seokjin mumbled, deciding to wait at jeongguk's dorm and raid his snack drawer.
meanwhile with jeongguk,
he was in the arts building.
this was where painting, photography, media, dance, music, drama and every other art form all took place.
he made his way through the corridors very easily since not only did he have classes in this building but he was also accustomed to fetching taehyung from class sometimes.
just an excuse to see him faster but no one needed to know that.
when he'd almost made it to taehyung's class, it has already ended about a minute ago so, when jeongguk turned the corner, he expected to see him walking out.
and he did.
but with someone else.
jeongguk recognised the other male as park bogum.
(a/n: i'm unoriginal and needed a person so just shut up about how over-used bogum is in taekook stories cuz i KnOw.)
bogum and taehyung walked out of class together.
smiling, giggling, light touches, lingering glances.
jeongguk grin, that was once displayed, faltered not-so-slightly. he stopped in his tracks and moved to the side so he wasn't blocking the hallway.
he could hear their conversation and decided to listen in. i mean, practically everyone could hear them since they weren't being exactly quiet.
"and so i told him 'no dude, you don't boil kiwi' and then he was like 'whatever' and did it anyway." bogum laughed.
"oh my god, what happened to it?" taehyung asked through giggles.
"it went all mushy and shit and he made me try it. i'm telling you now that hot kiwi is not a sensation i ever wanna feel again." bogum revealed, shivering in disgust.
taehyung cackled, "ew that sounds so gross~"
"ugh, it was. well, i should get going now, i'm going to get coffee. unless, you wanna come with me?" bogum said with hopeful eyes.
"i mean, i have nothing else to do and i could do with a hot chocolate right now so let's go~"
and so they left the building together.
jeongguk watched with clenched fists.
not with anger but...
frustration?
sadness?
disappointment?
maybe it was all three.
i mean, it was like taehyung didn't care.
taehyung would always wait until jeongguk arrived because he knew that he'd pick him up.
and, when he had somewhere to go, he'd still wait and then let him know when he got there or text him about it as soon as class ended.
but with this bogum guy, it's like he just forgot about jeongguk completely.
along with all this, seeing the way bogum's eyes sparkled when he looked at taehyung and the way he smiled at him and that hopeful look he had when he asked tae to get coffee with him.
jeongguk knew that bogum liked taehyung.
he knew that he didn't love him the way he did himself... but he knew that he liked him.
he could tell since he didn't really try to hide it.
i mean, he practically asked him on a coffee date.
that's when jeongguk came to the realisation that just because he was in love with taehyung, that doesn't mean he's the only guy that likes him.
taehyung was beautiful, smart, talented, artistic, funny, outgoing, energetic and not to mention he could be a flirt when he wanted to be.
why would other people not like him?
what made things even worse is that taehyung laughed along with him and smiled back at him and accepted his request with zero hesitance.
god, what am i even doing here?
with all the guys he probably has chasing him, why the hell would he be madly in love with his annoying best frienemy?
i'm so stupid.
