CHAPTER FIVE, isaac's return
"Lele, wake up." A familiar voice rouses her from her peaceful slumber, a gentle hand shaking her. She groaned in protest, not wanting to wake up. She was having a great sleep and was feeling rested for the first time in days. She buried her head under the pillow, trying to ignore the voice. "C'mon, Lele, wake up. I'd figured you'd be more excited to see your brother." The voice continued, sounding amused.
"What?" Leora jolts awake, her eyes wide and alert. She scrambled to sit up, her heart pounding and her mind racing. What was her brother doing here? She immediately regrets sitting up fast, her head spinning and her vision blurry. She groans in pain, clutching her head. "Ow." She mumbled. The sudden brightness in the room didn't help either, and she instinctively shut her eyes, wincing at the light.
"Hey, easy. You should take it slow." A soft voice says, a hand guiding her to lie down again. "I didn't mean to startle you."
Leora squints, trying to focus on the voice and figure. As her vision clears, she recognizes her brother standing beside her. She blinks, gaping at seeing her older brother, Isaac, standing by her bed. "Isaac?" She manages to croak out, her voice hoarse and dry. "What are you doing here?"
Isaac chuckles, shaking his head. "Nice to see you too, Lele." He replies, handing her a glass of water that was on the bedside table. "Melissa called me last night, explained to me what happened. Got on the first flight to California from France."
Leora accepts the glass gratefully, sipping the water and letting the cool liquid soothe her parched throat. "I didn't mean it like that," She says after drinking half the glass. "I'm glad you're here, really. It's just..." She trails off, trying to gather her thoughts. "It's a lot to take in."
Isaac nods in understanding, his expression softening. "Yeah, I can imagine. It's been a crazy few days, huh?" He sighed, his tone sympathetic.
"Yeah." Leora mutters, her gaze downcast. She feels a lump in her throat, the emotions she's been holding back threatening to overwhelm her. She takes a deep breath, swallowing hard and blinking back the tears. "I really missed you." She admitted quietly, her voice trembling slightly.
Isaac's expression softens, his heart aching at his little sister's confession. He could see the pain and weariness in her eyes, the burden of the past few days weighing heavily on her shoulders. He sits on the edge of the bed, reaching out to grab the glass and set it on the bedside table. "I really missed you too, Lele. So much." He murmured, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into a hug.
Leora melts into his embrace, feeling the tears start to fall as she clung to him. She buries her face in his chest, the familiar scent of him bringing comfort and reassurance. She had missed her older brother so much. She understood why he didn't come back with her and Chris, but it still stung. But it didn't matter right now. What mattered was that he was here, and she could finally let go of the emotions she had been holding back for so long. "You're finally here." She mumbled, her voice muffled against his chest.
Isaac hugs her tighter, resting his chin on top of her head and rubbing her back soothingly. "Yeah, I'm here." He replied softly, his voice full of warmth and affection. He could feel her trembling, her shoulders shaking as she sobbed silently. He didn't say anything, just letting her cry and releasing all the pent-up emotions she had kept bottled up. He shifted to lean against the wall and sit more on the bed, stretching his legs out and letting her cry into his chest. He didn't mind, but his heart was breaking at hearing her muffled cries.
Melissa had explained to him what he missed out on the last few days and how she pushed herself so much with her powers that it was taking a toll on her body. That was the reason why he came. For his little sister. He had felt guilty and sad that he wasn't there for her before and he was going to be there for her now.
"Shhh. It's okay, Lele." He murmurs soothingly, his hand rubbing her back in a circular motion. "I'm here. You're not alone." He reassured her, his tone gentle and comforting. He felt her grip tighten, her fingers clutching the fabric of his shirt. He didn't know how long they stayed like that, but he didn't care. His sister needed him, and he was going to be there for her. And he missed being with her, holding her close and knowing that she was okay. Living in France, it made him worry even more not knowing everything going on back in Beacon Hills. He knew she could take care of herself, but that didn't stop him from worrying. And now, seeing her so broken and vulnerable, he realized just how much he missed his little sister and how much she needed him.
"It's okay, I got you. Just let it all out." He continued whispering comforting words, his heart breaking with every sob and shuddering breath she took. Leora's emotions poured out in waves as she clung to her brother, letting herself feel the weight of everything that had transpired. Isaac held her close, providing the comfort and support she desperately needed in that moment. His presence was a balm to her soul, a reminder of familial love and security amidst the chaos of their lives.
As Leora gradually calmed down, her sobs turning into quiet sniffles, Isaac pulled back slightly to look at her. He brushed away a tear from her cheek with a gentle thumb, his eyes filled with concern and tenderness. "I'm sorry I wasn't here sooner, Lele," He mumbles softly, his voice thick with emotion. "I should've been here."
Leora shakes her head, a small smile breaking through her tear-streaked face. "It's okay, Isaac. I know why you stayed in France," she replied, her voice still trembling but filled with understanding. "I'm just... really glad you're here now."
Isaac sighs softly, relief washing over him as he saw his sister's smile. He had missed moments like these with her, the simple yet profound connection they shared. "Me too, Lele," he admitted, his voice sincere. "I missed you more than you know." They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, Leora leaning against her brother's chest, feeling safe and cared for. After a while, Isaac gently pulled away and reached for the glass of water on the bedside table, offering it to her. "Here, drink some more. It'll help, sis." He encouraged gently.
Leora smiles gratefully, taking the glass and finishing the water. She set it back down, feeling a bit more composed now. "Thanks," She murmurs, smiling up at him. "I guess Melissa filled you in on everything?"
Isaac nods, his expression serious. "Yeah, she did. I know about what happened with Mason and Lydia...And I heard about how you used your powers to help them," he said, his voice tinged with concern. "Leora, you have to be careful. Melissa told me how much strain it puts on you."
Leora sighs softly, her shoulders sagging. "I know, Isaac. But I couldn't just stand by and do nothing," She admits quietly. "They needed my help."
"I understand, Lele. Your heart is always in the right place. That's one of the many things I admire about you. But please, promise me you'll be careful," He pleads gently. "Your health is so important and I don't want to see you push yourself to the brink of exhaustion. Melissa told me you passed out twice in the past few days. I'm really worried about you, Lele."
Leora reaches for his hand, squeezing it gently. "I will, Isaac," She promises, her tone firm and determined. "I can't promise it won't happen again, but I'll try my best. And besides, Scott and the others are always looking out for me, too."
"I would hope so 'cause I'll kick their a**es if they don't." He replied, chuckling softly. Leora shook her head fondly, grinning at him. She was really happy he was back.
"Hey, glad to see you're awake." Melissa's voice is heard as she enters the room, holding a tray of food. Leora's stomach growls at the sight of it. It made her realize she didn't remember the last time she ate anything. "Figured you might be hungry. Got you some food."
"Thanks, Melissa." Leora says gratefully, smiling at the woman who's basically been a mother to her. "I'm starving."
Melissa sets the tray on the bedside table that could move over to the bed for Leora to eat and then looks over at Isaac. "Want me to tell the others you're here?"
Isaac is quiet for a few moments, pondering the question. He didn't know if he was ready to see the others yet or at all. He had only come back in mind to visit his sister and make sure she's okay, not expecting to see anyone else. "Don't think I'm ready for that." He said finally, his tone slightly uncertain.
"Of course." Melissa responds kindly. "I won't tell anyone unless you're ready."
"Thanks, Melissa." Isaac murmurs gratefully, smiling at her. He's grateful for the woman who's always been so understanding and compassionate towards him. "I'm really glad Leora has someone like you in her life."
Melissa's expression softens, her heart warmed by his words. "I'm glad she has someone like you too." She replied genuinely, giving him a small smile.
Isaac turns back to his sister, noticing she was eating what Melissa had brought her. He smiles, glad that she was eating something. The past few days had been rough for her, he could tell. "So, Lele, want me to fill you in on what's been happening in France? Maybe distract you a bit from the craziness here?" He offered.
Leora's face lights up, her interest piqued. She had missed him so much and had missed hearing about his adventures in France. "Yeah, definitely. Tell me everything." She urged, excited to hear what he has to say.
Isaac chuckles at her enthusiasm, settling comfortably beside her and launching into stories about his time abroad. The two siblings talked animatedly, Leora eagerly soaking up every detail. Melissa left them to their privacy, sensing the moment was meant for just them. Isaac appreciated it, not wanting to be disturbed. He was grateful that Melissa understood. Leora ate her meal Melissa brought her, listening eagerly while Isaac told her stories. It was nice, having this moment of calm and normalcy with her brother. For a moment, she could forget the chaos and danger surrounding her, and just focus on her brother.
The rest of the day went by quickly, the two siblings catching up and spending quality time together. It was a welcome respite from the craziness of the past few days. Isaac made sure his sister was resting, not wanting her to exert herself. She was still recovering and he didn't want her getting sick. But overall, the day was pleasant and relaxing. The two of them fell back into their easy sibling dynamic, the bond between them growing stronger. They had eventually told Chris Isaac was back visiting since Leora had been staying with Chris, but Isaac had him promise not to tell anyone else. He had planned on going back to France after a week, just enough time for him to be with his sister and make sure she was okay.
As night began to fall, Isaac decided it was time to turn in for the night. "I think it's time for bed, Lele." It was around midnight on a Friday. They had been talking for hours and Isaac had to catch an early morning flight the next day. He wanted to be well-rested.
"Awww. Can't you stay longer?" Leora asks, frowning a little. She was enjoying spending time with her brother. "Can't you just go on a later flight?"
"Leora." Isaac scolds gently, raising an eyebrow at her. "You know I can't stay. I'm going back tomorrow."
Leora pouts, huffing a little. "I get you don't wanna stay 'cause all the craziness here, but it's not the same without you."
"I know, Lele," Isaac says sympathetically, sighing softly. "But I can't stay. I've already been gone for a week and I've got work back home. I have a girlfriend, who I miss a lot. I'm sorry."
"Okay." Leora mutterws, her shoulders sagging in defeat. She knew her brother couldn't stay. She just didn't want him to leave so soon. She missed him so much.
"Hey," Isaac's voice is soft, his hand reaching out to gently grasp her shoulder. "I'll be back soon, okay? I promise."
"Really?" Leora looked up, her eyes hopeful.
Isaac smiles reassuringly, nodding. "Really. And like before, we'll keep in contact, Lele. And maybe, you and Chris can come visit me in France sometime."
Leora grins at that thought. "That would be fun. Then I can meet your girlfriend in person." She had managed to convince Isaac to let her meet his girlfriend over the phone during a facetime call. His girlfriend was really nice and seemed perfect for Isaac. She was happy for her brother that he found someone.
"Maybe." Isaac chuckles softly, shaking his head. He was a bit nervous about his sister meeting his girlfriend, knowing Leora was very protective of him. "But I'll definitely come visit soon. I promise, sis."
Leora nods, satisfied with his answer. She knew he was going back to France, but it was nice to have that promise. "Okay."
Isaac pulls her in for a hug, leaning her head on his shoulder. "I love you, Lele." He mumbled into her hair, his voice muffled slightly.
"Love you too, Isaac." Leora murmured, hugging him back. She sighed contentedly, closing her eyes and savoring the moment. She felt so much better. She had gotten plenty of rest and had plenty of time to relax. She had learned from Scott and the others that they saved Mason and with Parrish's help they defeated the Beast. And apparently Kira came back, she had made a deal with the Skinwalkers that would help her learn more about her kitsune side though she finally came back and helped the group. She even sent Theo to H*** which surprised Leora. But she was glad all of her friends were alright (yes, even Liam).
It was a good ending. But she had a feeling it wasn't over yet. Something was coming. She could feel it in her bones. But for now, she pushed the thoughts aside and just enjoyed being with her brother. It had been a long time since she'd seen him, and she missed him. She was glad he was here, and even more grateful for the comfort and reassurance he gave her.
They pulled apart, both smiling at each other. "You better get some sleep, sis," Isaac said, his voice gentle and full of affection. "It's late."
Leora nods, stifling a yawn. She was tired, but she didn't want to admit it. She didn't want the day to end. She didn't want her brother to leave. "Okay," She murmurs, her voice soft and resigned. "Goodnight, Isaac."
"Night, Lele." Isaac murmurs, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Sleep well, and take care of yourself, sis."
Leora smiles up at him, her eyes filled with warmth and affection. "You too, big bro. Take care." She mumbles, her voice laced with affection. "Tell your girlfriend I said hi." She added with a grin as she got up. Her grin widen at seeing him blush and muttering under his breath.
"Just go to sleep, you little minx." He grumbled playfully, shooing her off.
Leora giggles, turning around and walking to the stairs leading to her room. "Goodnight, Isaac."
"Goodnight, Lele."
They headed upstairs, Leora giving her brother one last hug before heading to her room. As she entered the room and closed the door behind her, she let out a content sigh. She was glad she got to spend some quality time with her brother. It had been a while since they had been able to talk and hang out like they used to. And it was nice to have a sense of normalcy in the midst of all the chaos. As she got ready for bed, her mind wandered to what had happened today. She was really happy Isaac was here, even if it was only for a short time. She was glad he had come back, even if it was only to visit her. And she was grateful for the comfort and support he gave her, the reassurance that she wasn't alone. It was nice to have someone she could lean on and rely on, someone who knew her better than anyone. She had missed her older brother a lot and it meant the world to her that he came to visit her. As she crawled into bed and pulled the covers up, she felt a sense of peace and security wash over her. She may not know what the future holds, but she knew that no matter what, she had her family and friends to help her through it. And that was enough for her.
A/N i love leora's & isaac's sibling bond so much
