Chapter Seven
WOO I'M BACK!
Sorry for taking such a long hiatus from this book, I wanted to finish something else first but when I did I didn't really want to write Enemies for a while.
Dang, does it good to write this again. Idk what it is, but there's something about writing the interactions between Romania and his friends in this book that just make me happy. Seriously, I wanna draw countless comics about them while I was writing their dialogue.
This book, while not on hiatus anymore, will still have slow updates, so I'll apologize for that.
Alright, lets get back to the story. That's what your here for.
~~~~~~~~~~
A few months later, Fascist Italy defeated and annexed Ethiopia. Legionary Romania cheered upon hearing the news. It wouldn't be long until Fascist joined the Axis, and he couldn't wait.
Bucharest was pretty excited about the news as well, saying, "It'll be a pleasure to meet the Latin capital that ruled such a powerful and influential empire at one point in time."
Romania had responded to that saying he was a nerd.
Speaking of Romania, he was reading a letter he got from Fascist. The Italian had written that he was on his way to Third Reich's country to join the Axis. Romania would be lying if he said he wasn't very excited.
Now, why exactly is Romania so excited for Fascist to join the alliance? I don't know, and neither does Reich. But since Fascist could be a valuable ally and Romania had nestled his little way into the German's heart, he decided he was gonna let the Italian join. Screw the weeks to months of paperwork that needed to be done, the second Fascist stepped into his (Reich) office he's in.
And that's exactly what happened.
"Greetings, Third Reich-"
"You're in."
~~
Months after Fascist joined the Axis, Third Reich invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia. He annexed the Czech area and set up a puppet state in Slovakia. He also ceded Southern Slovakia to Hungary, ignoring the Slovak's protests to the decision.
Fascist, Romania, and Reich joked about how the Allies didn't do anything about it afterwards. "Czechoslovakia threw such a fit when he found out they wouldn't do anything!" Reich laughed.
Italy chuckled. "I'd be pretty ticked, too. But hey, free land!"
The three laughed. "Oh, and get this," Reich smirked. "Instead of trying to protect Czechoslovakia and his kids, they decided to guarantee the independence of Hungary and Yugoslavia."
"They guaranteed Hungary and Yugoslavia?" Romania asked, his smile faltering.
"Ja, you didn't know?"
"Nu, (No,) I didn't. Agh, that ruins what I had planned..."
Italy raised a brow. "What did you have planned?"
"I was gonna invade them both later, but seeing as I'm not strong enough to fight Britain and France yet I'll have to leave them be." Romania sighed.
Reich hummed. "Well...I'm still seeking to take more territory from countries, and I'm not exactly scared of them." Italy and Romania looked at him. "Eventually they'll have no choice but to go to war. Maybe then you can invade Hungary and Yugoslavia?"
"Perhaps, but how do you know you'll be fine fighting the both of them? Their colonial empires are huge, France has a big army, and Britain has a big navy."
"With the right strategy I can take them down. My main worry would be France with the whole Maginot Line she set up and since she's in mainland Europe would quite possibly pose more of a threat than Britain. But once I have her under my control it should be a breeze conquering her husband."
"That makes sense." Fascist said.
"Mhm... Anyway, you mentioned you were still seeking more territory? Which country will be next?" Romania asked.
"Poland." Reich answered. "You see, other than the fact that I'm a greedy little brat, he holds many of my grandfather's former lands, and I'm seeking to take it back. You guys know Soviet Union?"
"Yes?" Fascist answered. "I don't see how he's relevant here."
"Poland also holds territory that he wants; mainly because two of his kids want the lands because of their people populating them. So, I'm planning on making an agreement with him. I hate the guy, the whole communism thing disgusts me, but I could use our mutual interests to my advantage."
"Smart, but how do you know this?"
"Danke, and I know a few people."
"Don't you feel like your kinda overestimating yourself?" Romania asked.
"Don't worry about me, Romania, I have everything under control."
"Well, as your friend it's kinda my job to worry, especially since you're planning on going to war in the future."
"I'll be fine." Reich smiled. "Just watch."
~
Romania arrived back in his capital after a trip. Thanks to the new territories Reich grabbed and pressure being put on Hungary, Romania has been able to get home quicker than he used to. Anyway, he found Bucharest and greeted him with a wave. "Bună, România. Cum a fost întâlnirea? (Hello, Romania. How was the meeting?)" Bucharest asked.
"A fost bine. (It was fine.)" Romania shrugged. "București, vreau să mă asigur că orașul tău este protejat. (Bucharest, I wanna make sure your city is protected.)"
Bucharest looked up at Romania with a confused look. "De ce? Este deja protejat. (Why? It's already protected.)"
"Ei bine, Bulgaria fiind din nou liberă și tu fiind relativ aproape de granița ei, nu mă poți învinui că sunt îngrijorat, nu-i așa? (Well, with Bulgaria being free again and you being relatively close to her border, you can't blame me for being worried, can you?)"
Bucharest snorted and rolled his eyes. "Amenda. Voi înființa câteva divizii pentru a păzi orașul. (Fine. I'll set up a few divisions to guard the city.)"
"Mulțumesc. Acum trebuie să merg să verific Basarabia. Nu am mai vizitat-o de ceva vreme. Ne vedem mai tarziu. (Thank you. I have to go check up on Bessarabia, now. Haven't visited her in a while. See you later.)"
"Atât cât. Transmite-i salutări. (So long. Tell her I said hi.)"
~
Bessarabia is Romania's younger sister. She typically stays in her part of the country and since her brother is often busy with other things, they don't speak often. This doesn't ruin, their relationship, however, as they've always been very close, no matter how long they are seperated for. "Basarabia! (Bessarabia!)" Romania called, smiling brightly as he entered her house.
Bessarabia walked to the front door and greeted Romania with a hug. "Ce mai faci? (How've you been?)" Romania asked, chuckling as she pulled away.
"You can speak English, you know?" Bessarabia smiled. "I'm not that little region who doesn't know a word of English anymore. Plus, I wanna practice for if I meet any other countries."
Romania laughed. "Fine, fine. I just revert back to Romanian when I'm back in this beautiful country."
"Ew, being proud of your stuff."
The two laughed. Romania spent the rest of the day with his sister, making sure they both had a good time. After all, he couldn't visit her as much as he would like. He'd protect her, just like he promised. He wouldn't let anyone take her from him.
