Chapter One
Third Reich sat in his office reading the Treaty of Versailles over and over and over again. Each time he finished the last line his blood boiled more and more. He slammed the treaty onto his desk and growled, "Germany doesn't deserve this... That Austrian does."
He stood up and began pacing his office, thinking of ways to make Germany great again. He murmered to himself quietly as he paced ovals.
The sound of the door opening brought him out of his little world. "Herr. (Sir.)" Reich turned to the voice and saw one of his maids. "Du hast einen Besucher. (You have a visitor.)"

Romania--sorry, Legionary Romania stared at himself in the mirror with a smug grin. He did it. He and the people did it. Fascism was now the system of government.
"Well, look at you..." Romania murmered to himself, "Lookin good.."
He straightened himself up and left the bathroom. He walked out his house and took a deep breath of air; sighing in sastifactory.
The new government felt good.
Bucharest walked up to Romania. He smiled at him. "Dimineaţă. (Morning.)" He greeted.
Romania grinned at the capital. "Dimineaţă. Cum este armata? (Morning. How is the military?)"
"Bun. Avem mai mulți soldați în pregătire și ne construim tancurile. Ce părere aveți despre crearea unei recrutări mai mari a populației? (Good. We have more soldiers in training and are building up our tanks. What do you think about making more of the population recruitable?)"
"Este o idee buna. Cu cât sunt mai multe trupe cu atât mai bine. (Sounds like a good idea. The more troops the better.)"
Bucharest hummed in agreement. "Acum că suntem fasciști, care este primul lucru pe care îl veți face? (Now that we're Fascist, what is the first thing you'll do?)" He asked.
"Îl cunoști pe al treilea Reich, nu? Ei bine, este un coleg fascist și doar așa se întâmplă să aibă o facțiune proprie. Voi vedea dacă pot alina țara cu el. (You know Third Reich, right? Well, he's a fellow Fascist and just so happens to have a faction of his own. I'll see if I can ally the country with him.)"
Bucharest smirked. "Bună idee. De asemenea, vedeți dacă puteți obține condiții bune și cu Italia fascistă. (Good idea. Also, see if you can get on good terms with Fascist Italy as well.)"
"Se va face. Vei conduce țara în timp ce voi pleca, nu? (Will do. You'll run the country while I'm gone, right?)"
"Da. (Yes.)"
"Bun. Ne vedem peste câteva zile. (Good. I'll see you in a few days.)" Romania started walking away.
"Mult noroc! (Good luck!)" Bucharest called after him.

It took a while--a few days while--but Romania finally reached Germany. More importantly, he reached the building Third Reich was supposedly in. He stepped up to the building doors and knocked on them. A few seconds later, a maid opened the door and looked up at him. "Hello, sir. What is the reason for your visit?" She asked.
"I'm here to see Third Reich. I assume you got my letter?"
"Ja. (Yes.) I'll lead you to his office, Legionary Romania."
Romania stepped in and allowed another maid to close the door. He followed the first maid to an elevator and went inside it. She pressed a button and waited beside him as the elevator slowly made it's journey up the floors.
"So, what's your name?" Romania asked.
"Drittes Reich (Third Reich) doesn't allow me to tell visitors my name." The maid sighed. "Ah, sorry about that. My German came out. I meant Third Reich."
"Don't worry about it, it's fine." Romania smiled at her and turned back to the elevator doors.
They waited in silence until they reached the designated floor. With a ding, the elevator's doors opened and the maid walked out with Romania close behind.
They soon reached a door. The maid turned to Romania. "Wait out here, please." She opened the door and stepped inside.
Romania heard what he assumed was German being spoken. He didn't understand a word of what was going on but continued to wait outside the door. Eventually, the maid came back out and motioned for Romania to come inside.
Romania stepped into the room and saw Third Reich standing with his arms crossed behind him. "Romania." Reich nodded in agreement.
Romania heard the maid leave the room. "You wanted to see me. For what reason?" Reich asked with a brow raised.
Romania cleared his throat and stepped towards the German. "Not sure if you've heard, but my country recently turned Fascist."
Reich felt a smile tug at his lips but pushed it away. "I see."
"So, I was wondering..perhaps we could team up?" Romania looked into Reich's eyes.
"Team up?"
Romania nodded. "You know how the allies are. They don't care for countries like us." He saw the Treaty of Versailles on the table and got an idea. "Especially for Germany."
"Excuse me?" Reich frowned slightly.
"I'm sure you know what I mean. The treaty wouldn't be as bad as it is had the Allies actually cared for your father's country."
Reich glanced away and sighed. "True..."
Romania felt a smile coming up but held it back. "On top of that, it wasn't even his fault the Great War broke out. It was that Austrian's fault. I know he was your mother and all, but your father wouldn't have been killed by the Allies had he just made smart choices."
Reich was silent. Romania let a smile creep onto his face and took a step towards the German. "You can get revenge. You can target Austria and I'll target Hungary. We'll avenge your father."
"But they're my siblings." Reich looked back at Romania.
"Half-siblings," Romania corrected Reich.
"Right."
"Reich, listen to me." Romania got closer to him and set a hand on his shoulder. "Hungary and Austria haven't done anything for you--"
"Ja, they have." Reich was frowning more now.
"Name one time."
Reich looked away and pursed his lips together.
"Exactly. I imagine they weren't there for you when Second Reich died, right?"
Reich shook his head. Romania smiled a little wider. "So, why don't we team up? You can take out Austria pretty easily, right? Hungary's been claiming Transylvania recently and I'm pretty annoyed with his posturing. If we work together, I'm sure we'll both get what we want."
Reich was silent for a few moments. "I'll let you know my response tomorrow."
Romania nodded and left the room.
~
Romania arrived back in his country after another few days travel. Hungary wouldn't let him through but Soviet Union allowed him to pass through his country to get home, which Romania was very greatful for.
Anyways, he was walking towards his capital when Bucharest ran up to him. "România!" He called.
Romania raised a brow and stopped walking. "Ce este, București? (What is it, Bucharest?)"
Bucharest showed Romania a newspaper. "Japonia imperială a declarat război Chinei! (Imperial Japan declared war on China!)"
Romania read the newspaper and frowned. He remembered when he met China that one time. They got along pretty well and he even met his little brother, Communist China. Communist got on China's nerves a lot but he could tell they loved each other. "Vom rămâne neutri în război? (Will we remain neutral in the war?)" Bucharest asked.
"Da, dar vom trimite echipamente din China. (Yes, but we'll send China equipment.)"
Bucharest nodded and ran off. Romania sighed and headed home.

Next Day
Bucharest shook Romania awake that morning. "Bucureşti! De ce?! (Bucharest! Why?!)" Romania growled and rubbed his eyes.
Bucharest handed Romania a letter with a bright smile. "Citeste acest! Citește! (Read this! Read it!)"
Romania took the letter and saw it was from Third Reich. He opened and read it, smiling brightly and almost jumping out of his bed in joy when he read the last sentence:
Without further ado, I hereby welcome you to the Axis Powers.
