A/N

This is a human au and a Lylie/Wylinh oneshot. I don't exactly ship it, but my friend BEGGED me to do it, so I obliged. And thanks to Pinterest for giving me the idea for this. Sorry for short chapter :/ Enjoy!

Wylie was peacefully taking a nap on the couch. It had been a long day at work, and he was happy to find some peace. His fiancé, Linh, was outside, working in the garden of their small, two-bedroom condo.

Just as he was starting to drift off, he heard the back door open.

"WYLIE!" Linh shouted excitedly. "Guess what?!?!"

"What?" He muttered, disappointed that his nap had been stolen from him. He rubbed his eyes.

"I caught a bird!!! Come look! It's so cute!" Wylie heard muffled chirping and footsteps coming towards the living room.

"That's great, honey," he said sleepily, not quite realizing what his silly fiancé had done.

"I'm gonna put him in our little decorative birdcage. His name is Timmy! I love him, and I think you'll love him too."

"Wait, what?" Wylie suddenly realize what had occurred. "Linh! You can't keep that bird!" He stumbled up from the couch and padded towards her.

"Why not? He's cute," Linh said, and expression of hurt crossed her features.

"Because... he's a wild animal. He doesn't want to be kept in captivity for his whole life. He's meant to be free."

"Really?" Wylie nodded his head vigorously. "Well... okay. I guess I'll let him go," she peered sadly down at the little bluebird nestled between her fingers. "I just wanted a friend."

Wylie gazed at her. She truly seemed like she had good intentions. She had just wanted a pet. "Well, maybe if you let him go... we can go to the pet store and get you a friend."

"Really?" Her eyes glistened with excitement, a smile growing on her face.

"Yeah. But only if you let Timmy go."

"Okay." She went to the back door, opened it, then whispered, "Goodbye, little Timmy. I'll miss you, friend." She unfolded her fingers, allowing the little bird to unruffle its feathers and fly off in peace. Linh waved sadly at it, but soon got over her disappointment with the promise of going to the pet store.

"Okay, can we go now?"

"Sure."

They headed out, Linh excitedly talking about how they were gonna get a bunny, or a kitten, or a hamster.

They ended up with a cute little brown-and-black guinea pig, which Linh named Mr. Cocoa.
