03. It's A Trick

September 10th, 2014
Avengers Tower, New York City

Mary looks over at the team as they walk in from the landing pad. They had just gotten back from a raiding of a Hydra base. The team unanimously agreed that Mary would stay home at the Tower where she and the baby would be safe.

Mary notices Bruce wearing his headphones, smiling at him slightly as she walks over to him, wrapping her arms around him gingerly due to her friend being on edge.

"Code Green?" She asks him as Bruce slowly returns the gesture by hugging her back, nodding. "You did good, Bruce. Don't doubt yourself or feel guilty."

The scientist sighs, "They were still people, Mary. They may have chosen the wrong side, but they were still people." He says quietly to his friend.

Mary pulls away, looking at him, "I know, but you have to remember that if you let them, they would've killed everyone without a second thought." He reminds him, then looks at Tony, "No scepter?" She asks.

The godson shakes his head, grabbing a cookie off the tray that had come out of the oven recently due to Mary needing to be doing something to take her mind off the fact that her family was away risking their lives.

"No, no scepter at this base, but we found four more bases. So we'll be sending small groups of us to check those out." Tony says, flinching at the temperature of the baked good in his hand.

Mary hesitates, her hands resting on her now semi prominent baby bump. She had grown fond of showing her bump, she was proud of it. So she would end up wearing t-shirts and tank tops that would show it off more than normal, "Smaller groups?" She asks, looking at the group, "You sure that's safe?"

Her brother nods, stepping up to put his hand on the small of her back, "They're small bases, we'll be done with them in no time." He says to reassure his sister, she was worried about them more than normal, but the team didn't mind it one bit. They enjoyed someone caring about them and worrying for them. It told the group that they had someone that loved them for who they are. And Mary Barnes was that person.

"Everything will be fine, Shorty." Clint says, sitting down on a stool at the island in the kitchen, munching on a cookie, "You focus on the baby and being the best damn doctor in the country." He says, causing the girl to smile.

"Thanks, Arrow." Mary replies, "And world, thank you very much." She quips, causing the team to laugh. During the time she spent serving the people of New York as a doctor, she had become one of the world's renowned doctors. Her family was proud of the accomplishment she achieved due to her skill and passion for it. Her apprentice, Stephen Strange was also one of the world's renowned surgeons. Mary had contacted her apprentice and friend when she realized she was pregnant. The hazel eyed doctor wanted her friend to be her doctor when the time came for the baby to be born.

So Stephan and Bruce agreed to team up when Mary's baby decided to join the world. The whole team deliberated on jobs during that time. Tony and Steve would be with her as her support system, Stephan and Bruce being her doctors, and Natasha and Clint making sure everything is ready for the baby in the nursery and Mary's room.

Natasha smiled at her friend, walking up to Mary, placing her hands on the bump, talking to the baby in Russian before smiling at the girl, "When will we know the gender? I need to know if the baby will be a Natasha or Nathaniel."

Mary laughs, "Stephen said i can find out next time i come in to his office." She says, causing all of the men in the room to grin. They had placed bets on what gender the baby would be. Only Steve had known Bucky besides Mary, so he had a better chance at guessing the gender.

"It's a girl, i know it is." Tony says plainly, sitting on the couch, Mary sitting next to him, leaning into him.

"And what if it's a boy?" Clint quips, crossing his arms, arching his eyebrow, "What then, genius?"

Mary laughs, "All you guys should be concerned with is that the baby is happy and healthy. I honestly don't care about the gender as long as the baby are those two things."

Steve nods, smiling at his sister, "Any names coming to mind?" He asks, "I know you and Bucky had others."

The sister nods, her cheeks flaming as her brother mentions her husband, her hands resting on her stomach as she lays down on the couch, her feet on Tony's lap. "We had names for two more babies.." She trails off, "Steven Jospeh or James Junior if it's a boy, after you and Dad, Stevie or after James." She says, causing the blue eyed brother to smile, "Sarah Winnifred if it's a girl, after Ma and James's Ma." She finishes, "Winnie for short."

Clint sits down across from the expecting mother, "And Rebecca's name? Where did you get that from?" The archer asks, everyone but Tony and Steve know where the name came from.

Mary smiles, looking at her family, "Rebecca is James's sister's name, and Sofia is Doctor Erskine's daughter's name. I never met her, she died when the nazis invaded Austria." She tells them, the members of the team that didn't know looked at Mary in shock.

"Erskine had a daughter?" Bruce asks his friend, the woman nods.

"He did, and a wife. He said they lived a good life before the Nazis.." She murmurs, "I always wished that i could have met them.. or saved his life. But Hydra took that from him. Hydra has taken everything from me." She says, her voice breaking as her hazel eyes cloud with tears. "They took my mentor, my husband, my daughter." She lists off, "They are the reason Steve went into the goddamn ice!" She exclaims.

Her family watch her with broken hearts. They've always seen Mary with a smile on her face, never one to look on the bad side of things. So seeing her break down like she was at the moment was something new for them.

Steve goes to sit by his sister as she sit up slowly with his help. He wraps his arms around her tightly, "That's in the past, Lizzie." He reassures her, smoothing her hair down with his hand as Tony scoots closer to her, rubbing her back soothingly.

"Look at what's been happened since then." Tony says to her, "Mama Ree, Bucky's alive and you have Becca back. She may be gone at the moment and Bucky's off the grid, but they're alive and you know that. You can look Hydra in the face and tell them that they failed." He says, smiling at her, "They failed at everything they tried to do. And you helped make that happen."

Mary pulls her long sleeved shirt sleeves past her hand, wiping her eyes with it, looking at her godson, giving him a weak smile, "Thank you." She says, looking at all of her family, "All of you." She adds, then laughs lightly, "Mood swings, they make me feel ten emotions at once." She quips, causing the team to laugh with her.

Present Day
Avengers Tower, New York.

As the jet lands on the tower, Clint is rushed off to the medical ward with Natasha, and Dr Cho. Mary trusting in her Korean friend to take care of the archer so she can stay behind with everyone else.

When Maria steps onto the jet, she passes Thor who is carrying the scepter off the jet and to the lab. Mary smiles at her friend as the woman talks to her godson.

"Lab's all set up, boss." Maria says as she looks around the jet, smiling at Mary.

Tony turns around in his pilot's seat, "Uh, actually he's the boss." He quips, pointing to Steve, who is crouched down in a corner of the jet with Becca, the two super soldiers stand up, walking over to Mary, "I just pay for everything, and design everything and make everyone look cooler." Tony adds as he kisses Mary's cheek and Becca's forehead before they follow Maria and Steve off the jet.

"What's the word on Strucker?" Steve asks Maria point blank, he wants to know how the Hydra Scientist is being handled.

"Nato's got him." The woman replies, looking down at the tablet in her arms, typing things down quickly.

"The two enhanced?" Mary asks, Steve nodding in agreement.

"Any word of them?" Steve adds.

Maria nods, "Wanda and Pietro Maximoff-" she says, handing Steve the tablet showing the video footage. The three family members look over the footage, "-orphaned at ten when a shell collapsed their apartment building." Mary's heart breaking as she see's them before they were experimented on, hearing Maria tell them their story.

The four walk off the quinjet, making their way towards the elevator, "Sokovia's had a rough history. It's nowhere special, but it's on the way to everywhere special." Maria states to the three as they walk through a corridor.

"Their abilities?" Mary asks, her concern for the twins grows as Steve slides through the pictures and videos of the two siblings, she had already met Pietro, but she hadn't encountered his sister Wanda yet.

"He's got increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis. Her thing is neural electric interfacing, telekinesis, mental manipulation." Maria states, Mary nods, understanding her friend but Becca and Steve just look at the two women curiously.

"He's fast-"

"-And she's weird." The women say together, explaining it easily enough for the two supers.

Steve and Becca nod, understanding now, "Well, they're going to show up again." Steve says as the three family members walk into the elevator.

"Agreed." Maria replies, "File says they volunteered for Strucker's experiments. It's nuts." The woman adds.

Steve stares at Maria as he pulls Becca close to him, his arm going around his niece's shoulders, "Right. What kind of monster would let a German scientist experiment on them to protect their country?" He quips, causing Becca to look down at her tactic boot covered feet, smiling as she feels her Mama grab her hand softly.

"We're not at war, Captain." Maria bites back.

"They are." Mary and Steve say in unison as the doors shut. Becca looks at her mother and uncle, smiling softly at them.

The brother turns to look at his sister, "You know it's okay to take a break, to rest." He points out as the elevator doors open. The three stepping out and making their way to Tony and Bruce's lab.

"Steven, i'm fine." She says, "I won't get into it with you right now about it." She says as she marches off to see how Clint is doing with Cho and Nat.

Becca looks over at her uncle, "What was that about, Uncle Stevie?" She asks curiously.

"Nothing. It isn't my story to tell." Steve says, "Your Ma went through a lot during the year while you were away. More than she's letting on."

The teenager nods slowly, taking in the information as her and Steve walk up to the lab. The girl sees her brother carrying a tray of smoothies so she rushes over and takes some to help him, "Hi Buddy."

Tony smirks at her little sister, "Hi Reebs, want to see Mama Ree work?" He asks as they walk up to the medical wing.

Becca nods, "Yes!" She exclaims, the teenager loved watching her mother work, it calmed her in ways that nothing else could. She felt that it was natural for her to be around her mother while she worked.

The two siblings walk into the medical wing to see Clint laying down on a machine bed with a robot scanning his injury.

"If you brought him to my lab, the regeneration cradle could do this in.. twenty minutes." Doctor Cho says to Natasha and Clint when Tony and Becca set the drinks down.

"Oh, he's flat lining. Call it. Time?" Tony quips, causing Becca to giggle.

"We need you Uncle Clint! Don't die!" Becca plays along with her brother.

Clint chuckles, "No, no, i'm gonna live forever! I'm gonna be made of plastic." Clint quips back at the siblings as he takes the drink Tony's offering him.

Mary walks over, freshly changed into her doctor's coat and her long brunette hair pinned out of her eyes. "Sorry, Clint, but there's room for only one immortal human. And that would be me." She teases as she walks over to Helen. The two doctor's exchange notes quickly.

"You'll be made of you, Mr. Barton." Helen says with a smile, "Your own girlfriend won't be able to tell the difference."

Mary and Nat share a glance at each other as Clint says, "Well, I don't have a girlfriend."

"That i can't fix." Cho retorts, "This is the next thing, Tony. Your clunky metal suits are going to be left in the dust."

"That is.. exactly the plan." Tony replies to Cho, causing his family and friends to look at him quizzically, "And Helen, i expect to see you at the party on Saturday."

Mary smiles, looking over at her Korean friend, hoping she'll come as well, "Unlike you, i don't have a lot of free time." She replies, looking down at the tablet in her hands before looking back at the group, "Will.. Thor be there?" She asks, causing Tony and everyone to chuckle.

Tony steps over to his Mama Ree and Becca, "Banner and I will be working in the lab if you need me." He says to them.

"We'll be fine, T. Go play with your toy." Mary teases as Bruce calls Tony over.

Saturday

Steve knocks on Mary and Becca's room, "Girls? Are you ready?" He asks, Mary had snuck into his room and laid out her brother's outfit, a deep blue button up shirt and black slacks to match, with comfortable black boots and his dark brown leather jacket Mary had gotten him for Christmas the past year.

Becca opened the door, smiling up at her Uncle Steve, "Ma's just finishing her makeup." She tells him, side stepping out of the way so that her uncle can come in the room.

"Stevie?" Mary calls out from the bathroom.

"Yeah, Lizzie." He answers back, smiling at his niece, "You look very beautiful, Becca." He tells her, the girl blushing as she's complimented.

"M- Ma and Auntie Nat picked it out for me.." The teenager trails off, looking down at her outfit. A peach shorts jumper with designs on the shorts, her brunette hair was curled lightly, she was wearing white oxfords to match. Steve knew the shoes belonged to Mary back when they were younger. Mary and Steve grew up in the Roaring Twenties, they enjoyed seeing everyone dress up for parties. The shoes were a gift from the Barnes family for Christmas one year.

"They did an amazing job, B." Steve said, smiling, his eyes making their way to the bathroom as the door opens. His jaw dropping as he takes in his sister's appearance. Her hair was wavy and styled, she had a short, long sleeved red dress that sparkled; the neckline of the dress plunged past her chest down to her rib cage almost. She had matching red, strapped heels to match her dress. Her brother noticed a small tattoo on her slightly prominent ribcage, a name, but he couldn't make out who's name, he starts to ask Mary but she stops him, asking her own question.

"Well? How do i look?" The sister asks, twirling slowly in a circle.

"Like Bucky needs to get his act together and come home." Steve says, chuckling, making his sister smile. "Come on, Sam's waiting for us by the pool table." He sates, extending his arms for both women.

When the three entered the main room, the party was in full swing, people were everywhere, music was blasting. Becca had never seen so many people enjoying themselves before.

"Is that my sister? No, she's too grown up!" Becca hears a voice, knowing it's Buddy, she giggles, looking over at Tony.

"It is me!" She shouts, smiling, hugging her brother.

"You look so grown up, Reebs." Tony says, twirling her slowly, then whistles at his Mama Ree, "Damn, Mama Ree." He states, "I don't think i've ever seen you this dressed up before."

Mary playfully sticks her tongue out at her godson, "Oh, shut up, T." She teases, "I've dressed up before."

Tony chuckles as Steve walks down to where Sam is, Tony now escorting his ladies, "How about we get you two some drinks." He suggests.

Mary begins to protest but then Tony orders two Shirley Temple's. Causing the mother to smile, he still remembered her favorite drink. "Try the drink, Baby, it's my favorite. I think you'll like it." Mary tells her daughter as she sips her drink, smiling.

Becca nods slowly, staring at the drink, "It's pink!" She exclaims, "I've never seen a pink drink before." She whispers as she takes a drink. Her blue eyes going wide as she tastes the cherry flavoring and fizziness of the drink, smiling as she sips more.

Tony chuckles, "Imma make my rounds." He tells them, "Love you two." He adds, the two girls repeating him and then going back to their drinks.

Time goes by and soon, Mary, Becca, Tony, Maria and Thor are talking with Rhodey, "Well you know, the suit can take the weight right?" Rhodey says.

Mary nods and Tony and Thor are unfazed by the story, Becca is entranced, "So i take the tank, fly it right up to the general's palace, drop it at his feet. I'm like 'Boom! You looking for this?'" He finishes his story, Tony and Thor don't say a thing as Becca giggles and Mary laughs lightly.

"Boom!" Becca giggles out, causing Rhodey to smile at the girl, this is the first time he's meeting Mary's daughter. Already taking a liking to her.

Rhodey then looks back at the men, still seeing them unfazed, "Boom, are you- why do i even talk to you guys, no offense, girls. Everywhere else that story kills." The man repeats himself.

Thor looks at Rhodey, "That's the whole story?" He asks quizzically.

Rhodey nods, "Yeah, it's a War Machine story." He answers solemnly.

Thor then laughs, "Oh! Then it's very good then." He states, looking at Tony then brings his beer mug up to his lips, "It's impressive."

Mary chuckles, "Quality save there, Thor." She teases her Norse friend, patting his arm.

"So, no Pepper? She's not coming?" Rhodey asks Tony, Maria nods in agreement.

"No." Tony replies softly, shaking his head, taking a sip of his champagne.

"Hey. What about Jane, where are the ladies, gentlemen?" Maria asks the men, smirking at Mary and Becca.

"Well, Miss Potts has a company to run." Tony explains to the group, smiling at his girlfriend's accomplishments.

Thor nods in agreement, "Yes, I'm not even sure what country Jane's in. Her work on the convergence has made her the world's foremost astronomer."

And the company that Pepper runs is the largest tech conglomerate on earth. It's pretty exciting." Tony buts in

"There's even talk of Jane getting a... um, uh... Nobel prize." Thor adds softly

Maria nods slowly, glancing at Mary and Rhodey, "Yeah, they...they must be busy because they'd hate missing you guys get together." Maria says as she mock coughs, "Testosterone! Oh, excuse me."

"Want a lozenge?" Rhodey says, smirking a bit as he pats his friend on the back.

"Um-hmm." Maria grumbles out.

"Let's go." Rhodey says as he guides Maria and himself away from the testosterone fight

Thor leans down next to Tony slightly, "But Jane's better." He whispers.

A little while later, Mary, Sam and Steve are walking around. Becca with her brother still, enjoying another Shirley Temple.

"Seems like one hell of a fight, I'm sorry i missed it." Sam says to Steve, Mary chuckles, knowing where this is leading.

"If i had known it would've turned into a fire fight i absolutely would've called you." Steve explains as the three walk up the stairs of the huge room to get to the second floor.

Sam smirks, chuckling as he shakes his head, "No, I'm not actually sorry. I'm just trying to sound tough. I'm very happy chasing cold leads on our missing persons case. Avenging is your world. Your world is crazy." He says, giving Mary a soft smile, "And i'm thrilled Becca is home for however long that is." He tells her, the mother nodding in agreement.

Steve barks out a laugh, "Be it ever so humble." He teases his best friend, looking out to the party on the walkway, the crowds of people mingling.

Sam looks at Steve, "You find a place in Brooklyn yet?" He asks, Steve had been wanting to move back to Brooklyn since leaving DC, but Mary wasn't sure she wanted to leave the Tower. She liked the safety it brought her. So Steve had been looking for a place of his own.

The brother shakes his head, leaning against the railing of the walkway, " I don't think I can afford a place in Brooklyn." He quips, his sister laughing.

"Maybe you should take me up on my offer to rent out my apartment?" She teases.

Sam smiles, "Well, home is home, you know?" He says.

The party continues to go on. Thor and the two super soldiers were talking with a group of World War 2 veterans, "I gotta have some of that." One veteran says.

Becca looks at her Uncle Thor quizzically, Steve had his arms crossed, amusingly watching his Norse friend, "No, no, no. See this, this was aged for a thousand years, in the barrels built from the wreck of Brunhilde's fleet, it's not meant for mortal men." He explains as he pours three drinks, one for himself, one for Steve and one for Becca.

The teenager looks at the drink, Steve's blue eyes are widened as his friend handed the Asgardian alcoholic drink to his niece. Mary not so far away as she talks with Natasha on the couches.

Another veteran on the couch pipes in, "Neither was Omaha Beach, blondie. Stop trying to scare us. C'mon." The veteran says, his hand motioning for the god to give them the drink.

"Um- Uncle Thor? Are you sure i should drink this?" Becca asks.

Thor nods, "Oh yes, on Asgard, children younger than you already drink stout." He says nonchalantly. The girl looks up at her Uncle Steve hesitantly, watching him sniff it before pulling it away from his nose as he cringes at how strong it is.

Steve drinks it when Thor does, the uncles cringe at the burn. Becca stares at the glass in her hand, pinching her nose as she drinks the Asgardian alcohol. She Coughs at the taste and burn as it goes down her throat. Her two uncles watch her. "You good, B?" Steve asks.

Becca shudders, but then nods slowly, "I- I'm gonna stick to my Shirley Temples.." She murmurs softly, Thor smiles, nodding.

"Let's not mention you drinking Asgardian alcohol to your mother, huh, B?" Steve murmurs, slightly worried as what his sister's reaction would be if she found out.

Thor laughs, "Our special secret."

The party had ended close to an hour ago. The people went home, all those who were left were the Avengers and friends. Everyone was crowded around the couches, some sitting on the floor, others laying on the couches.

"But It's a trick!" Clint shouts at Thor. The men had been debating whether or not it was true that only worthy men and women could lift Mjolnir.

"No, no it's much more than that." Thor retorts, handing Steve a beer who was sitting next to him. Mary was seated next to Tony and Rhodey while Becca was laying her head on Natasha's lap on the other side of the couch.

"Who so ever be he worthy shall haveth the power!" Clint mocks Thor's accent and how he speaks, "Whatever man! It's a trick!"

"Well please, be my guest." Thor says, motioning towards his hammer. The room goes silent as Clint stands up.

"Really?" The archer asks.

"Yes." The god replies.

"Oh, this is going to be beautiful." Mary quips out, causing Tony to join in.

"Clint, you've had a tough week, we won't hold it against you if you can't get it up." Tony quips, his godmother smacking his chest at his comment.

Clint walks over to where Mjolnir sits on the coffee table, "You know i've seen this before, right?" Clint asks Thor, the god nods as the archer wraps one hand around Mjolnir's handle, gripping it as tightly as he can, trying to lift it. He grunts as he tries to lift it once more. He busts out laughing as he backs away, "I still don't know how you do it."

Tony smirks, "Can you smell my silent judgement?"

Clint smirks back, "Please, Stark, by all means." He says, referring to Tony giving it a try.

A chorus of 'oohs' and 'ahhs' follow as Tony stands up, unbuttoning his jacket from around his waist, making his way over to the hammer, "Never one to shrink from an honest challenge." Tony says, his hand going through the strap of the handle, placing his hand on the handle, "It's physics." He murmurs.

"Go T!" Mary teases, laughing as Becca calls after her mother.

"You got this, Buddy!"

Tony smiles at his girls, then looks at Thor, "So if i lift this, i then rule Asgard?" He asks.

The god nods, "Yes, of course."

Tony places his leg on the coffee table, his other hand then gripping the handle as well, "I will be re-instituting Prima Nocta." He says as he goes to lift the hammer but fails.

He grunts in frustration, "I'll be right back." He says as he rushes off. Coming back with Iron Man's hand, and his suit jacket off. He then tries to lift the hammer with Iron Man's hand, failing again. Soon Rhodey joins in to help Tony lift the hammer with War Machine's hand on his own.

Both men are breathing heavily as Rhodey says, "Are we even pulling?"

"Are you on my team?" Tony asks.

"Just represent! Pull!" Rhodey says back, both pulling with everything they have but ultimately failing.

Bruce is up next, pulling with all his might then roaring like the Hulk a he backs away, his hands up by his head in claw like positions.

Everyone is trying their best not to laugh. Mary can see her brother struggling not to come unglued with laughter as Becca stands up.

"Me next!" She says, smiling as she prances over to the hammer. Everyone is cheering her on as she attempts to lift it. She huffs as she places both her hands on the handle, "Move!" She grits out, then gasping as the hammer budges slightly. The teenager looks over at her family, "It moved!" She shouts, dancing a little bit. Causing everyone but Thor to clap, his eyes wide in shock. Becca goes to sit back down next to her Auntie Nat as her Uncle Steve is up next.

"Go Stevie!" Mary shouts, cheering her brother on. He rolls up his shirt sleeves more, past his elbows as he makes his way to the hammer.

Thor had finally recovered from Becca budging Mjolnir when Steve then makes it move slightly more than she did. The god's eyes are wide in shock and horror, but then Steve grunts in frustration as he gives up trying to lift the hammer, "Ha ha, nothing." He whispers to himself as reassurance.

The men then look towards Mary and Natasha, "Ladies?" Rhodey asks.

Mary shakes her head, "No thanks." She says, "The thought is nice but i don't see it happening."

"Natasha?" Steve asks.

"Oh no, that's not a question i need answered." The spy quips as she leans back on the couch, taking a drink from her beer.

"All difference to the man who wouldn't be king, but it's rigged." Tony says jokingly.

Clint nods, "You bet your ass." He mumbles.

Maria looks up, pointing at the archer, "Steve, he said a bad language word."

"Two dollars in the swear jar Uncle Clint!" Becca shouts.

Steve shakes his head, smirking, "You tell everyone about that?" He asks Tony.

"The handle's imprinted, right? Like a security code. "Whosoever is carrying Thor's fingerprints" is, I think, the literal translation?" Tony quips out at the Norse god.

"Yes, well that's, uh, that's a very, very interesting theory. I have a simpler one." Thor says as he gets up and lifts his hammer, flipping it, "You're all not worthy." He teases.

A chorus of disagreement comes from the others as a loud screeching noise erupts, causing everyone to cover their ears, wincing in pain. They let their hands down as it fades.

Tony pulls out his device, checking on the sound system and Jarvis to detect what happened as a broken down Iron Legion robot hobbles out of the corner of the room.

"Worthy... No... How could you be worthy? You're all killers." The robot says, Becca going to her mother as Steve standing up, going over to protect his sister and niece.

"Tony?" Mary murmurs, confused and scared about what's happening.

"Jarvis.." Tony mutters, tapping his screen but his A.I isn't answering.

"I'm sorry, I was asleep. Or-" The robot murmurs, looking around, "-I was a-dream?" It says to the group

Tony starts tapping his device again, "Reboot, Legionnaire OS, we got a buggy suit."

"T, I don't think this is just a bugged suit." Mary mutters.

"There was a terrible noise...and I was tangled in... in...strings. I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy." The robot says, staggering on it's feet to regain it's balance, now gaining the groups full attention. Becca gasps, clutching her arms around her mother's waist.

"You killed someone?" Steve asks defensively, guiding Mary and Becca behind him with his arm.

The robot shrugs, "Wouldn't have been my first call. But, down in the real world we're faced with ugly choices."

"Who sent you?" Thor demands, also stepping next to Steve, being the barrier between the robot, Mary and Becca.

"I see a suit of armor around the world." The robot plays a recording of Tony's voice.

Bruce's eyes widen, "Ultron!" He says.

The robot- Ultron perks up at the use of his name, "In the flesh. Or, no, not yet. Not this...chrysalis." He says, Thor grips his hammer tighter, Maria cocks her gun as she stands up, "But I'm ready. I'm on a mission."

"What mission?" Natasha asks hesitantly.

"Peace in our time." Ultron replies.
