Chapter 1
Hey guys, I finally got around to working on this book. Sorry, I took so long, there's just been too much going on. I honestly didn't expect this series to get so popular but I'm happy it did.
Since it's been over three years I'm not sure if anybody would even still be into reading this or still be waiting for it. But here it is at last. Enjoy!

Arcee and Wheeljack couldn't dwell too long on the thought that they were having a sparkling because there was still some work that needed to be done so they could settle down in their new base. Spare parts were brought over to be used in building up their monitor and ground bridge while a little sitting area was made up for the kids as it had been at the other base. Fowler found a vehicle for Optimus to scan to fit his new form.
A ground bridge opens up inside the hanger and, after getting the go-ahead from Ratchet, Ultra Magnus drives through carrying a crate of Energon. Bumblebee takes the crate and Magnus transforms as the others gather around him, Magnus takes a few steps towards them, "We didn't find much else in the rebel of the former base," he tells them before he looks back, Wheeljack walked through carrying the lob ball.
"You call this not much else?" Wheeljack asks in a somewhat mock to the commander, he then turns around completely before throwing the ball at Bulkhead.
Bulkhead sees the ball coming at him but he's confused about what's happening and doesn't catch it, instead, the ball bounces off his chest and hurtles toward Miko. Jack grabs Miko and pulls her out of the way as the ball slams into the metal walkway and the door to Fowler's office.
"Wheeljack, you could have caused some serious damage!" Ratchet scolds him.
Miko gets up and puts her hands on her hips, "To me!"
A moment later they hear the door open and Fowler yelling from the other side, "A little help here!"
Wheeljack looks on as he feels bad for almost harming the kids. He turns to look at Magnus when he hears him talking, "What were you thinking soldier?"
"I was thinking... Bulk could catch that lob," Wheeljack replied with a hint of smugness.
"Allow me to make myself clear. As Optimus Prime's second in command I have no intention of tolerating wrecker behavior."
"Some things never change," Wheeljack says before looking up at him, he could never stand this commander.
The others just watch not sure if they should intervene or not. Arcee wants to intervene and calm her mate but she also doesn't want to oppose her commanding officer, "Jackie," Bulkhead speaks up trying to calm his friend and get him to stop.
"Need I remind you that it was Optimus Prime himself that assigned me to command you wreckers back on Cybertron, and get you loose cannons under control. An effective combat unit begins with discipline, if you won't accept that feel free to choose the path of least resistance. As you did before."
As Arcee listened to Magnus talk she thought back to when she met Wheeljack's friends, Rodobuster, Springload, and Seaspray along with Bulkhead back before the war when everything was peaceful. She remembers how rowdy they were at the time, no doubt they were just as rowdy while they were fighting the war, probably even more so. So she can see why Optimus assigned a strict commander to get them under control.
"If my ship weren't a twisted wreck at present I'd do that, sir," Wheeljack tells him saying sir mockingly. He then walks off, walking past the others as he heads over to the other side of the base.
Arcee's spark breaks upon hearing him say that. If he still had his ship would he actually leave her and the sparkling because the commander pissed him off? She knows how he is, she knows he hates being told what to do and how to act, and she also knows that he likes being off on his own where he can do as he pleases without anything weighing him down.
"So, any word from Optimus?" Magnus asks after a moment of silence.
"He's investigating recent Decepticon activity," Ratchet replies, "Hopefully an Energon mine."
Wheeljack returns after feeling the spark break from Arcee, without saying a word he grabs Arcee's servo and pulls her away from the others. Once they're in a private area he turns to Arcee and kisses her, she kisses him back as he pushes her up against the wall. After a moment he pulls back and looks into her optics, "I'm sorry you had to hear that. I didn't mean it, he just had me really worked up and it slipped out. I will never leave you and the sparkling, I love you both so much."
Arcee placed a servo on his cheek, "I understand, I know how you are. Just know that if you ever feel like leaving I won't stop you, I don't want you to feel like you must stay f -"
"I don't feel like I must stay, I want to stay. I told you that I would never leave your side again and I mean it," he interlaces his fingers with hers as he holds her servo against the wall. He places his other servo behind her helm as he kisses her again, pouring all his love and affection for her into the kiss as he sends wave after wave of love to her through the bond, easing the hurt.
Before Wheeljack could take things further Arcee stops him, "Now wouldn't be a good time. We need to get back to the team before one of them comes looking for us, and it would be just our luck if it happened to be Ultra Magnus."
Feeling disappointed Wheeljack pulls away from her, "You're right. But you owe me a good frag the moment we get the chance."
Arcee just laughs as she heads towards the rest of the team with Wheeljack right behind her. They make it there in time to see a blue and yellow car screech into the hangar, "Smokescreen?" Arcee asks as they walk over.
Smokescreen transforms, "Awe, what gave me away?"
Arcee just looks at him.
"Come on. Robots in disguise, right?"
Wheeljack walks off as Magnus walks over to them to talk to Smokescreen, "Where have you been, soldier?"
"Scanning new war paint. Thought it'd be proactive to follow Optimus' lead," Smokescreen pauses for a second as he turns to gesture towards Bumblebee, "And Bumblebee's."
"Now you can look your best while stacking those empty cubes," Magnus says as he looks over at the empty cubes that are lying scattered on the floor.
Smokescreen frowns as he says, "Yes sir," he then walks off to go do as he was told while mumbling to himself, "I was almost a Prime but somehow I'm still a rookie."
Ratchet looks up from what he was doing, "What was that about a Prime?"
Smokescreen stops and turns to face him, "Uh, no time. Time I stop acting like a rookie."
Arcee watched him walk over to the cubes, "Smokescreen was the only one who went back. If it weren't for him, Optimus might not be with us today," she says feeling sad at the thought that they almost lost Optimus. She feels bad that she couldn't do anything to help Optimus but she's very grateful that Smokescreen did go back and help him.
"Arcee, we were under the strictest of orders. The three of you had your human partners to protect, not to mention you needed to stay out of Megatron's reach. But we are fortunate that Smokescreen is inexperienced enough not to follow protocol."
Arcee stays silent as she turns to walk away. She goes to find Wheeljack and make sure he's staying out of trouble.

I'm not sure how long this book with be. I know it will be longer than the last one but I doubt it'll be as long as the first two.
